Here's your beer.

(Episode 23)

You seem familiar.

Haven't we met before?

Do you know me?

Actually, I lost my memory

in a car accident.

I may not remember

meeting you.

That's a relief.

Pardon?

I had a nuisance to deal with,

but the beer gave me strength.

And

after hearing your voice some more,

you're definitely not the person that I know.

I see.

Gyeonghye.

You must never find out that

this woman is alive.

Live the rest of your life as a murderer

with the burden that feels like you're being crushed.

Hi, Kkotnim.

What are you doing here?

Do you know him?

Kkotnim,

would you please excuse us?

Oh, sure.

It was bad enough that you showed up at my house.

Now, you're at my sister's restaurant?

Why are you doing this?

(Searching for a Witness to a Hit-and-Run Accident)

Are you really here

because of Shopper Hong?

I heard you went out with Shopper Hong.

This is where you ended up?

She said

she had a lot to take from you.

Don't get stabbed in the back

after being good to her.

Get your act together.

- That's not what I meant... / - You said...

Hong Seyeon...

Seemed cheap

and boorish.

What do you think?

Now that you've seen for yourself?

Seyeon and restaurants like this

aren't really your style.

Get out. Right now!

It's uncultured and uncivilized...

Right?

You're right.

Don't come to a place like this ever again.

Think of the chairman.

Don't let your employee control you

and shame yourself by coming to places like this.

I understand.

Get up.

Aren't you leaving?

Don't come near my house again.

If you

disrespect my family or our home again...

I won't forgive you.

Oh?

He left.

Do you know

that man, Ung's aunt?

He stopped by to talk to me.

I see.

He seemed so cold-hearted.

I could feel the chill from his body.

Here.

You like fried chicken.

It's on me to congratulate you

on your new job.

Thank you. I'll enjoy this.

You're welcome.

You couldn't have come up with this.

Was it Seyeon?

If Seyeon annoys me again...

I'll destroy you first.

These clothes will be included...

In proposals from the design team.

Submit them for approval yourself.

These designs...

You recognize them.

Your shopping addiction actually helps.

These are...

That's right.

The designs that were shown in Paris and

eastern Europe were copied.

President Jang wants to make these

items for the Travel Project.

The moment people find out they are copied,

the project will be over.

Stop him.

We can do it.

I need your help.

You're...

Being strange. What is it?

I don't know when you're being truthful.

Truthful?

What is that?

Protecting the other person through

thick and thin.

That's being truthful.

Not hurting and shunning the person

in order to avoid the situation.

You're wrong.

Being truthful is believing in the other person

regardless of the circumstances.

Regardless of what I say

or what expression I have on my face.

Sir, the results are out.

How did it go?

Madam Eun's proposal passed

by a unanimous decision.

It needed no improvement.

The proposal was excellent.

Do you mean it?

The concept of happiness and travel...

Matches our company motto.

How did you think of using travel as the concept?

If people used to find happiness in eating,

in recent times,

they find happiness in traveling together.

That is why

I decided on the concept that travel brings happiness.

Good job.

You too, Shopper Hong.

The best team will be put together

to work on launching the new brand.

Gyeonghye,

I want you to lead the team.

Grandpa.

A concept is merely a concept.

If you don't come up with new designs,

the new brand will fail.

So from now on

you must do everything you can

in order to make great clothing.

Yes, grandpa.

Be gone, be gone.

What are you doing?

I drank too much beer yesterday.

I'm telling the swelling to be gone.

What are you doing?

Quiet. I forgot to make a wish last night.

But I see a full moon right here.

What's your problem? You're so annoying.

You look like a weasel.

What? A weasel? Why you...

That's right, a weasel!

- Hey! / - Want to get it?

It's dad.

1, 2, 3, 4.

What's taking so long?

Are you expecting someone?

There you go,

just on time.

Here are your side dishes. Enjoy.

Thank you. Have a nice day.

- Good-bye. / - Bye.

Come in.

Let's eat lunch.

Soup.

- Let's eat. / - You ordered delivery?

Yes.

I'm going to get a job soon...

And then

I won't have time to cook.

Good thinking. I've been saying we should order in.

It tastes good.

- Right? / - Yeah.

Dad, what happened to that job

that Ginam said he'd hook you up with?

How did it go?

What?

It didn't work out.

You're so dense.

Hello?

Pardon?

Do you mean it?

Here you go.

Thank you.

I got a call from my dad.

He said you wrote him a letter of recommendation.

I did.

But it wasn't the letter of recommendation.

Your father is highly qualified.

His experience as a professional fighter

scored him high points.

I can see my dad every day thanks to you.

Thank you very much.

That's right!

Our proposal went through.

I see.

Last time,

thank you for showing me around

the company to congratulate me

for getting into the training program.

You don't have to give me a gift this time.

Were you expecting a gift?

I didn't think of it at all.

No.

That's not what I meant.

I was just kidding.

I really didn't mean that.

I swear.

I didn't.

I mean it.

I really mean I didn't.

Gosh. Look at these photos.

They are from so long ago.

Do you remember?

Of course, I do.

I rented the place out to them.

The kids were similar age

and got along well

relying on each other.

Are you saying the moms

were close?

Yes.

But this young woman

was very frail.

She couldn't produce much milk.

This widow here

nursed both of the babies.

What is this?

Congratulations. Lee Jaejun.

Good night.

I saw before

that your room seemed very cold.

Golden lemon thyme.

Rub the leaf.

It'll release the scent and

fill the entire room.

Whenever you're depressed or have a migraine,

you should eat the leaves. It'll help.

Thank you very much

for helping my dad.

(Searching for a Witness to a Hit-and-Run Accident)

Hi.

You must be very nervous.

Of all places...

She has to live with Seyeon's family.

Don't worry.

She lost her memory

due to the accident.

She won't get it back.

Trust me.

Gyeonghye, Seyeon,

are polar opposites.

They're like water and oil but

they keep mixing together.

Gyeonghye came to that

chicken place with Seyeon.

She has never even gotten dirt on her shoes.

But she followed Seyeon to a place like that.

Those two...

Are deeply connected together.

Both of them...

Grew up drinking Yeongsuk's breast milk.

So this is how it feels...

To have someone with me who is on my side.

You can do it, Seyeon.

I know you can.

(Senior Manager Eun Gyeonghye)

"Kang" for "strong."

Don't worry, grandpa.

I promise...

I will become strong.

Hey.

The legendary Hong Seyeon?

Magic fingers Sa Chasun?

Wow!

So this is where you all were.

I wondered why no one was in the training room.

You're the 26th class of designer trainees, right?

What's this?

I heard five people passed.

You were the last one?

Shouldn't we introduce ourselves first?

Isn't that the right thing to do?

We're all in the same boat as of today

and we'll be sharing blood, sweat and tears together.

Let's introduce ourselves.

You got in through your connections.

Do we need to know more?

She's the one?

That's right. You were a salesperson

at a luxury shop, right?

Yes, I was a salesperson at a luxury shop

but I didn't get in through my connections.

That's absurd.

How could a salesperson

make it into this

company's designer trainee program

without connections?

It's possible if you're a legend.

You're so fake.

Don't you know how to survive

the competitive program?

You need to step on and shove each other.

Why are you acting so close?

Let's see how long you keep up the act.

Don't you know it's "live together, die alone?"

Let's band tightly together

in camaraderie.

Not a chance.

I don't want to band together with cheaters.

This is going to get messy.

Are you exercising your right

to remain silent?

My mom said...

Not to talk to women I don't know.

I said I'd take you somewhere fancy.

Geez.

I'd rather eat your delicious food

than something expensive.

When the kids were small,

we used to make scallion pancakes all the time.

When I see how big they've gotten,

I wonder where the time went.

What did you want to tell me?

What's the rush?

Have some rice wine first.

You know I don't drink.

I can't stay long either.

I told my boss that I'd be back

in about 2 hours.

Then...

Let me give these to you first.

Here.

My gosh.

Try them on.

Seyeon said you will look incredibly pretty.

She is so silly.

My wife, Yeongsuk...

Really is pretty.

Geez.

I'm going to be

a security guard for Winners Group...

Where Seyeon works.

What did you say?

Why are you so shocked?

I should start working too.

I can't keep doing this forever.

Don't do it.

I don't want you working there

as a security guard.

Is it because it's where Seyeon works?

She says it's fine.

It was hard for me to get the job.

I want to do well and

do my part as the head of the household.

Honey.

Don't worry.

You know me. This is your husband

Hong Pilmok.

Honey.

I'm sure there's something huge in here.

What could it be?

I smell an exciting mission.

Maybe there's a snake in there

to test our courage.

No way.

You're the only man here.

Be a man and stick your hand in.

Just a minute.

Let me ask my mom.

- Oh, my gosh. / - Ah!

What's wrong? Did it bite you?

Did I scare you?

I wanted to lighten the mood.

I really don't like you.

Hurry up and take it out.

Wow!

Wow.

What are you doing?

There are five of us

but only one sheet of fabric.

It isn't that the courageous man wins the woman,

but the courageous person wins the fabric.

- Is that the mission? / - My gosh.

Is that it?

- What the? / - Let go.

Let go of it.

Why are you getting involved?

My mom said to take it from you.

She did? Whatever then.

Me too!

Stop it! You'll tear it!

What's going on?

Have you all lost your minds?

How could a designer rip their fabric?

How will you fix this mess?

You turned precious fabric into garbage.

Someone must be held accountable.

Sorry?

How will the person be held accountable?

The person will be expelled from the program.

Who tore the fabric?

If the wrongdoer doesn't step up,

everyone will be expelled.

That's not right.

To be blunt,

you gave us one sheet of fabric for five people.

Didn't you want us to fight over it?

Sara started it.

Aeri, Hyeonjun and Chasun...

Are all accomplices.

Are you tattling?

You're saying you're the only innocent one.

I'm simply telling you what happened.

I was unable to stop my colleagues,

so I'm equally at fault.

Then everyone should be expelled.

Please give us a chance.

We will make clothing out of this fabric,

so that the fabric would not be garbage.

You'll make clothing using torn fabric?

Rather than splitting the punishment...

We will work together

to resolve the problem.

And...

If the result is unsatisfactory...

I will take full responsibility.

I'm sure everyone can do it.

Chasun will be able to make sure

the tears are hidden in the seams.

Sara is good at making patterns,

so she'll be able to give us ideas

for a design to maximize the use of the fabric.

I'm sure Aeri and Hyeonjun

will have a role to play as well.

Please give us a shot.

Fine.

Seyeon received the highest score

in the leadership test.

She did?

How did she resolve it?

"There are three levels in leadership.

A level-three leader utilizes only her own strength.

A level-two leader utilizes other people's strengths.

A level-one leader utilizes other people's wisdom."

She displayed the top level leadership

that you always talk about.

This is your fabric.

But, weren't we using the torn fabric?

What happened earlier was a test

to evaluate your leadership.

Gu Sara, Na Aeri, Myeong Hyeonjun,

and Sa Chasun avoided taking responsibility.

Hong Seyeon received the highest score.

Since she received the highest score,

she received the nicest fabric as a prize.

Unbelievable.

You knew it was a test and

pretended to be the hero, didn't you?

You will have two things

to accomplish today.

First.

You won't be using the torn fabric.

You will use new fabric

to create 3 articles of clothing

in the style you're most confident in.

- 3 articles? / - 3?

T-shirt, pants, dresses,

anything you choose.

Second.

Prepare a written explanation which sets forth

your honest philosophy and thoughts.

At the end of the form, you'll see

a section asking you for your wish.

Our company has a unique tradition

of granting rookies their wishes.

Will you grant any wish

we ask?

As long as it is not illegal or unreasonable,

we will do our best to

fulfill your wish.

Please be thoughtful about what you put down.

Tell me

how I can help.

Request that the designs for the new brand

be selected through a public contest.

That's the only way to choose proper designs

rather than copies.

That's the only way

we can protect the concept we came up with.

(Survey on Trainee Program)

(Choose new brand designs through a public contest)

Why that...

Wait.

Is Gyeonghye behind this?

Good work.

The items you made will be

the most important index in evaluating you.

How will it be used as an index?

We will let you know in your next class.

If you lose or damage your items,

it will hinder you in completing the program.

Take good care of it.

- Yes, ma'am. / - Yes, ma'am.

And Hong Seyeon?

Yes?

Her connection was the president.

Isn't it obvious, from how he called

only her into his office?

He may have called her in

to compliment her,

since she's the most talented.

If that helps you sleep at night,

think what you want.

Mom.

You want to choose the designs for the new brand

through a public contest.

Whose idea was that?

It was mine.

What are you doing?

Let me ask again.

Whose idea was it?

I told you it was my...

I asked who thought of...

This stupid idea.

If you can't salvage at least this dress...

Your days as a trainee are over.

I'll ask one last time.

Whose idea was it?

It was Gyeonghye's, wasn't it?

So this is how it feels...

To have someone

with me who is on my side.

I told you it was my idea.

Give me that.

Give it back.

Leave this place.

What do you think you're doing?

You should be ashamed.

You've lost your mind.

You're just the chairman's dog.

A mad dog only

deserves a beating.

Lee Jaejun.

Don't mess with me.

Just continue being my wife's shadow.

What is going on here?

What happened?

I told you to take good care of your pieces.

Mr. Lee will be your personal assistant.

An organization requires a hierarchy.

If the ranking system fails,

punks like you run amok.

What do you think about having a public contest

for the new brand designs?

Why don't we broaden the qualifications for entering?

Choosing brand designs in a contest is ridiculous.

I'll do it! I'll come 1st in the contest.

How To Start YouTube Gaming Channel - Star Wars Battlefront 2 PS4 - Duration: 11:04.

Hook So you wanna be youtube famous? You want to

make it big and be rolling in the benjamins just by playing video games. Lets talk about

starting a gaming channel.

Bumper

Intro Welcome back, and today we're talking about

a question i get asked alot. how to start a gaming youtube channel. I'm a pro at this,

because I'm just faking it till I make it 3 times a week and hoping whatever I did last

night registers with viewers because I'm really too tired to remember what I recorded

and preying i just don't completely fail while live streaming. I think it's going

well. The hardest part is getting started and finding your voice, so let's leave your

dignity and pride at the door, those things aren't welcome here!

In the comments, tell me if you have ever thought of making a channel, and if you have

a friend who always talks about starting one, or has tried, share this with them, i'm

sure they'll thank you.

Before we get into it though, make sure to hit that like button if this is at least somewhat

interesting to you, and then subscribe because the struggle is real. New videos release M/W/F

and streams on T/Th at 8 pm central.

Also check out our partners at Star Wars Gaming .Net, they are a great resource for news and

information on star wars battlefront 2 and how i keep up to date without having to watch

twitter and the forums 24/7. Theres a link in the description down below.

Let's get into it.

So before we get into starting the channel here is what you will need. A console to play

on, or pc, a computer of some kind to do edits on and a mic of some kind to record you're

voice with. You hopefully already have all of this. If you're on Xbox or PS4 you can

record your gameplay on the ps4 or xbox and transfer it by usb to the computer. Do not

go out and buy a ton of equipment until you are sure this is something your really willing

to put the work into.

On your computer, download the following programs i'll provide a link to all of these in the

description, Windows Movie Maker, free, audasity, free, and voice meter, free. These are the

only programs you need to produce a video without any bells and whistles, again if you

decide this is something you really want to do than you should think about spending some

money for more advanced programs. Movie Maker is your video editor, audasity will allow

you to record your audio and edit it easily, and voice meter will make any mic you already

have sound better. When it comes to making a thumbnail, you need some sort of photo editor.

You can simple use paint, or if you purchased a really old version of photoshop you might

want to go download Cs2 from adobe's website or you can use Pixlr Editor.

Once you decide this is something you really want to do, you can get some nice equipement

like elgato, which costs $60, a blue snowball microphone, which costs about 75$, and adobe

photoshop and premrie elements, a more basic version of the full version and much cheaper,

$99. If you want to stream off your PC or record using the elgato you may need to upgrade

your computer, so $900 or so depending how high end you want to get.

Getting Started

Let me start by saying youtube is not something super easy. You will need to do alot of work,

and I mean alot of work. Got a full time job or school? Cool, you now have 2 jobs. Friends

want to go to a movie? Nope, gotta work on a video, want to watch tv? Nope, gotta work

on a video. Want to play the video game that the channels about? Nope, got enough footage

to edit. Want to go to sleep? Your video is due in 2 hours, don't think so. This is

not for a faint of heart and wont be super easy like you may think. Also if you want

to make it rich on the youtube, there's probably easier ways to do it.

Step one of making a video game channel is to find a game you really enjoy playing, and

I mean really really enjoy playing. Like every waking minute thinking about, planning or

playing like. You don't even have to really be good at the game you're choosing, but

you need to enjoy your time while you play it. For me, right now anyway, this is Star

Wars Battlefront 2. Got it? Not yet? It's ok, this is just the easiest part, take your

time.

Step two, now that you've selected a game, you need to decide what you want to focus

on. Do you want to be an epic plays type channel, highlighting all of your bright spots? Do

you really get enough of these to sustain that type of channel? Didn't think so, we'll

put that on the back burner for a no video day. Do you want to be a stats channel? Trust

me, there's only so much you can really do with that unless they keep releasing new content

quickly. Another video idea. Do you want to be a self help channel, tips and tricks or

news? Yep, not enough there either.

Let me save you a ton of thinking, don't worry to much about it, get a general idea

of your primary goal and then you need to come up with some secondary ideas. None of

these are going to last forever and then one tuesdaynight / wendseday morning it'll be

3 am, you have to work in 5 hours and your video's scheduled to be release in 3 hours

and you'll be sitting in your room trying to think of what your video going to be on.

Not that I know from experience.

Step 3 You need a kick ass name, like really kick ass. Not just your gamer tag and then

the system at the end because apparently your gamertag is pretty widely used and that channel

name is already taken. Now that you have a name that is so identifiable everyone you

tell it to will be able to find you after 3-4 search attempts, we move on to the most

important part.

Step 4, The Schedule. The one thing youtube and people love is a schedule. When can you

reliabile put out videos each week? I'll give you a second to think about it. Did you

come up with 2-3 days a week to release videos? Cool, good starting number, going to be a

long, slow growth, but it's doable. Alright now that we have the day's, lets say M/W/F,

what time do you want to release the video? There's a lot that goes into this, but I choose

6am since that's when I wake up, which lets me stress about numbers all day. Alright,

now you have your deadlines, every M/W/F at 6 am you need to have a video ready to roll.

Wanna take a week off? Not for awhile, not if you wanna keep in favor of the youtube

search gods.

Step 5 Production Now hopefully your orginized, and if not I

recommend getting orginized quick fast and in a hurry. Let's start on our first video.

You need a video Idea, the first month was probably the easiest, I had a ton of ideas

I wanted to do. Got an idea? Cool, lets write that script. Oh, you don't need a script?

I hope you like editting sound files, because thats about to be your whole life without

one. A 3-4 page script, which is a about 8 minutes with the speed I talk, takes about

an hour to hour and a half depending on how flushed out the idea is in my head. Now that

we got the script, lets record the audio, now i'll talk about the programs I use here

in a second, but lets say your video is going to be 8 minutes long, thats about 12 minutes

of talking before you start cutting. Then we need to edit it down to remove awkward

breaths and mistakes, which is about double the time it took to record since you're

going to make mistakes here, lets say 24 minutes. Then we need to listen to the editted audio

to make sure no mistakes, anouther 8 minutes if it's a good day.

Hopefully you've been recording a ton of footage while you play so that way you have

a ton to pull from to get what your talking about to line up. Editing down a game to just

the lives and decent parts probablly takes another hour if you're trying to make an

8 minute video. The more you want to video to match the audio the longer this is going

to take. And if you want to add any overlays or picture in pictures, thats anouther 10

minutes to make each one, so lets say your adding at least 1 in there.

Now that we got the video edited down and the audio recorded, we're about ½ way done.

Next we put the video and audio together and watch it to make sure it makes sense and adjust

audio levels so you're not drowned out by the background noise, this takes as long as

your video is. So 8 minutes in this case. Next we need to go in and make any minor adjustments

to make the audio and video match even more, so about 30 minute, this will include transitions.

Now that all thats done, lets watch it all together for the finished product, another

8 minutes. Finally video is done, time to upload, this you can start and leave, since

depending what format you saved it, it can take forever. Or you would work on your thumbnail,

which takes about an hour, if you have an idea of what you want, longer if not.

Now that it's been uploaded, we go in and change all of youtubes settings and this is

going to take another 30 minutes. All together, this one 8 minute video can take about 5hours

and 39 minutes. Doing 3 a week, that's 16 hours and 59 minutes of just working on videos

a week, not including time to film gameplay

to go along with it.

Voicemail in English - Everything You Need to Know - Duration: 13:52.

Hi I'm Anne Marie with Speak Confident English and welcome to this week's

Confident English lesson. Recently one of my students asked a fantastic question

and I thought that you might have the same question in English. Here was her

question, "Recently I've been wondering how to leave a really good voice message

or even how to set up my own voicemail when I can't pick up my phone." That is a

fantastic question because definitely communicating on the telephone is always

a challenge and voicemails - particularly in business - are an important part of our

daily life. Now before I go any further I do want to say it was awesome that she

used the phrasal verb *to pick up* the phone.

As you know, native English speakers love phrasal verbs and we use them all the

time. *To pick up* the phone is a common phrasal verb that means to answer the

telephone. In her question, we could also say "...when I *can't get to* the phone." That

is another common way to say that we're unable to answer or check our telephone.

But now let's get to the focus of today's question: how can you

successfully leave a telephone message for someone else and how to set up a

voice message in English on your phone. In today's Confident English lesson

we're going to talk about three things: number one the basic rules about leaving

voice messages, number two what you should and shouldn't say when you leave

a voice message for someone else and I'll give you some examples, and finally

how to set up a voice message on your phone so

that when you can't get to it, when you can't pick it up,

someone can leave a message for you. Let's start with the basic rules of

voice messages and this is a great opportunity to use one of my favorite

acronyms and principles in life. This is the KISS principle - keep it short and

simple. Yes, with voice messages keep it short and simple! Let's be honest for a

moment. Have you ever received a telephone call and you looked at your

phone to see who was calling and you thought 'oh I just don't have time right

now. I can't talk to this person it always takes such a long time' so you

don't answer it, you just put it down and you let the call go to voicemail. I've

definitely done that and you probably have too because the truth is sometimes

we just don't have time. Our lives are busy and we just want to know the

important information, make a quick decision, and go on with the rest of our

day. And we certainly don't want a five-minute voicemail where we have to

listen to someone go on and on and share way too many details. We just want it

short and simple. And here are a few ways to help you do that.

Number one - prepare in advance. If you're nervous about leaving a voice message or

you're not sure what you want to say, take some time to prepare in advance. You

can write down some notes, some key words, practice saying it out loud to make sure

that you are able to communicate clearly, keep it short, and focus on the most

important details. Now when I say keep it short, in English-speaking culture we

like voicemails to be twenty seconds or less! Twenty seconds or less. That's not a

lot of time so you have to think very carefully about what you need

to say in that voice message and again preparation will always help you do that.

The second thing you can do to help you keep it short and simple

is to speak clearly and speak slowly. If you want someone to return your phone

call, they need to understand what you want or what you need. And this is

another reason why practicing in advance can be really helpful, it will help you

make sure that your pronunciation is clear and that you speak a little bit

more slowly. You want to give the listener a little bit of time to think

about what you're saying, to take notes about the details. If you need to share

your phone number in the voicemail, you want to do that slowly so that the

listener has time to write down that information. Now there's just one more

rule for leaving voice messages and this one is especially true in business -

always be kind and polite. Use kind and polite language and I'll definitely

share some examples with you in the rest of our lesson today. Now let's look

specifically at the information you need to include when you are leaving a

voicemail for someone else. Number one of course your name. Unless

you're calling your best friend or your mom, always include your name. If it is a

personal phone call and more casual you could only use your first name but if

it's for business purposes, I do recommend using your first and last name.

Now the second detail is optional, this is specifically for business phone calls.

You should include your company name or the department where you work, for

example if you are calling another company to get information, to ask a

question, or to clarify something, you want to include your name and the

company where you work. If you work for a really large business and there are

multiple departments and hundreds of people who work there, it's possible that

you will call someone else within the company. Maybe you work in marketing and

you need to talk to someone in the accounting department. When you do that

you should definitely include your name and which department you're in. Here are

a couple of examples: if I am calling another company I might say this in my

voice message, "Hi Lynn, this is Anne Marie Fowler with Speak Confident English" or

if I'm calling someone else within the business I might say, "Hi Lynn this is Anne

Marie in accounting" or "this is Anne Marie in the accounting department."

Now the third detail that you need to include for personal and business

voicemails is the reason you are calling and this is one of the most important

details because they need to know what you want, why should they call you back.

Now don't forget we have to use that KISS principle - keep it short and simple.

You might be calling with five questions or maybe there are several things you

need to talk about, you want to try to summarize it into one or two very short

clear sentences to state why you're calling. Again here are a couple of

examples, "Hi Lynn, this is Anne Marie with Speak Confident English. I'm calling to

follow up on our discussion at the conference last week" or another example

"Hi Sue, it's Anne Marie in accounting. I'm calling to discuss the paperwork you

submitted for reimbursement yesterday." In both of those I've used just one

sentence to talk about my reason for calling. The fourth detail to add to your

message is what is the best way for them to contact

you. Is it best for them to call you back? Would you prefer an email or a text? And

is there a day of the week or a time that is best for you? And this is where

you definitely want to leave your phone number. Now again, if you're calling your

mom or your best friend, they probably have your phone number (I hope) but if

you're calling for more professional or business reasons, again it's important to

leave your phone number, they need to know how to contact you. And this is

where it's important to speak clearly and speak slowly. I also recommend that

you say your phone number twice. Give your phone number once and repeat it.

Have you ever listened to a voice message and someone shared their email

address or their phone number only one time and you didn't have enough time to

get all the information so you have to listen to the whole voicemail again just

to get that phone number? It's super frustrating. We don't want to do that so

I recommend repeating your phone number two times so that they have the

opportunity to get all the information they need to contact you. Here's an

example, "Hello Lynn, this is Anne Marie with Speak Confident English. I'm calling

to follow up on a discussion we had at the conference last week. The best way to

reach me is by phone, Monday through Friday, anytime during the work day and

my number is 222-231-2323. Again my phone number is 222-231-2323

Now that's not my real phone number.

It's a fake number. I don't know whose number it is but it's

just an example to show how to repeat it twice in your message. Ok so a quick

review: in a voice message you leave your name, your company or department if

necessary, the reason that you're calling and

best way to reach you, including your phone number or an email address. So now

we need to end the voicemail and we always do it in a very simple and polite

way. Typically we end a voicemail with thank you or have a good day. The

examples that I've just used are really focused more on professional English but

in the online lesson I've given you several more examples of both

professional voice messages and more casual or personal ones, so if you want

to look at additional examples and more common expressions or sentences that we

use, be sure to check out the online lesson. Now that you know the rules of

voice messages and the information you need to include, let's talk about putting

a voicemail in English on your phone. Number one start with a greeting and

this is very simple, just a hello or hi. And then follow that with your name.

Again you want to state your company or your department if you are setting up a

voicemail on a telephone that you use at work. Number four - state that you're

unable to take the call. It might be something simple like I'm sorry I can't

take your phone call right now or maybe it's letting the caller know that you're

on vacation. Number five - ask the caller to leave you

a message. And finally number six - let them know that you will definitely

return their phone call or give them someone else to contact. Maybe it's an

emergency or perhaps you're on vacation and you'll be away for several weeks but

this person needs to talk to someone now. Is there someone else they can call? If

so, be sure to include that information. In this video lesson I'll share with you

an example of a common voicemail that you could use on your own phone but once

again I've included more examples in the online lesson so if

you'd like to take a look at those be sure to visit that lesson. Here is a very

common, basic example, "Hello, this is Laura Brown. I'm sorry I can't take your call

right now but please leave a message after the tone and I'll be sure to call

you back as soon as I can. Thank you." And that's it! Very simple, clear, and

short. So now it's time for you to practice. As always I do have a couple of

challenge questions for you in the lesson online. I would love for you to

take a look at those questions and share your answers with me. You can do that by

sharing in the comment section at the bottom of the lesson. Thank you so much

for joining me and I look forward to seeing you next week for your Confident

English lesson.

Facebook's Cambridge Analytica Data Scandal Explained! - Duration: 4:36.

Hello YouTube.

This is Praveen for TechEmpty.

Here in this video, I will be telling you about the Facebook data leak by a person called

Aleksandr Kogan and by a company called Cambridge Analytica.

And please hit the like button and subscribe to this channel if you find this video useful.

So, without any further ado, let's get started.

Here we're going to see how a single person mined the Facebook data and how the data been

used in several campaigns.

All it started in 2014 by a person called Aleksandr Kogan who is an academic psychologist

and data scientist, based at the University of Cambridge.

He launched a Facebook App called 'ThisIsMyDigitalLife' which is a personality quiz application.

As the sources stated that he paid around $3 to $5 to each person who downloads and

install the application on their Facebook profile to take the quiz.

Almost 2.7 million people downloaded this app and gave permission to the application

from their personal Facebook profile to access the sensitive information like your biodata,

status messages, pages that you like, interests, app data, some private chats, check-ins, emails,

followers, groups you follow, location, political views, religious views etc.

But, it doesn't end here.

He used this 2.7 million profiles as a loophole to gain access to their friend's profiles

too.

That's huge.

Right!

Let's say, I have around 1000 friends and I installed the application called 'ThisIsMyDigitalLife'

and gave access to read my profile.

He then scrapes the data of my friends through my profile by the API of Facebook.

Actually, he didn't violate the Facebook policies; he just took advantage of the loophole

that Facebook has with their API key.

So what's next.

He then sold the scraped data to a Cambridge Analytica which is a British political consulting

firm which combines data mining, data brokerage, and data analysis with strategic communication

for the electoral process.

What they did is, they took all the data and developed an Artificial Intelligence algorithm

to analyze the person based on the interests, political views, religious views, what not,

with everything that they have.

So, You may have this question like How do they do that?

Let me tell you with an example.

Let's say; you are very much interested in Cats.

You like every Cat, Kitten related pages and you regularly post your pet pictures on Facebook

and you talk a lot about Cats.

With Cambridge Analytica AI algorithm, it combines all the data together and concludes

that you are the Cat interested person.

Like the same, If a profile has an Interest on Dogs and he does also talk about Cats in

their status messages, so then the AI combines the data together and concludes that this

person is interested in both Cats and Dogs.

And finally, let's assume that around 10 million people were interested in Cats then

they will launch a campaign with the data they got with AI and If it is a political

campaign, they will shoot an Advertisement like, 'If I get into Power, I will do a

Cat rescue campaign' something like that.

As they are precisely targeting, more people will surely influence with the Advertisement

they see.

Result!

They win!

According to the sources, about 50 million users data was mined already by that time

and with the recent Mark Zuckerberg interview with CNN, he said they are still investigating

the issue.

The fact is, by the time you come online, the information you share is one-way.

If you update the profile picture and later decided to take it down, already many of your

friends see that.

You have nothing to do.

They know you already with the previous profile picture.

All you can do is to stay private and understand the necessary privacy things before accessing

the certain websites or application.

And to my surprise, Facebook stored all my phonebook contacts right from the day I created

my profile.

Of course, not only mine but yours too.

I will tell you about it in my next video.

So, what do you do now?

Do you delete your Facebook profile?

Let me know in the comment section down below.

That's it for this quick video.

I hope you find this video useful.

If you do, please hit the like button and consider sharing this video with your friends.

Also, don't forget to subscribe to this channel for more awesome videos.

Your contribution is more to us.

Reported Speech (part 2 of 2) - English Grammar Lesson with Julia - Duration: 6:50.

Now let's look at some introductory verbs!

When we're transforming

when we're creating the reported speech

we want to have a variety of verbs to choose from.

These are called introductory verbs or reporting verbs.

Now this in black here is the set of examples of direct speech.

So we're going to create the indirect speech,

the reported speech together

by adding one of these verbs.

So let's just say a woman said all this

so just say "she" and we'll add the verb

and make those changes together

and we'll also add a conjunction.

So generally we'll just add "that"

"she said that..."

However with "ask", "inquire", we can use conjunctions such as "if" or "whether".

But generally would just use the conjunction "that".

Let's do this!

So direct speech: example 1.

I'll be there at ten.

She said that she would be there at ten.

She told me that she would be there at ten.

Examples number 2:

ask / inquire

Question:

Will you be there?

She asked me if i would be there.

She inquired whether I would be there.

Example number 3:

to add / to mention

so this is quite informal

it's just the direct speech

"oh, and I'll take the car"

She then added that she would take the car.

or:

She then mentioned that she would take the car.

the verb "to explain" or "to answer"

"well, you see, I thought it would be a good idea"

She then explained that she thought it would be a good idea.

or we can add the conjunction here also:

She explained that she thought that it would be a good idea.

So here there's no conjunction.

It's quite acceptable in the direct speech, when we're speaking.

However if you want to do a proper grammatical exercise

it's best to just add the conjunction

the fifth example:

"to suggest" / "to offer"

I could pick you up at nine thirty.

She suggested that she picked me.

She suggested to pick me up at nine thirty.

This would be more correct.

She offered to pick me up at nine thirty.

This would also work.

Otherwise if we was just wanted to go back to basics:

She said that she could pick me up at nine thirty.

So we have many options there.

That's the good thing with the reported speech.

There isn't just one way of reporting someone's words.

We've got lots of words to choose from.

Next example:

"to admit" or "to deny"

I must say that i'm not much of a morning person.

She admitted that she was not much of a morning person.

So don't forget those changes there.

The next example would be:

"to remind" or "to insist"

Don't forget your umbrella!

She reminded me to bring my umbrella.

She insisted that I didn't forget my umbrella.

So you have lots of different options.

"to promise" / "to declare"

The direct speech would be:

I'll be there, I swear.

She swore that she would be there.

She declared that she would be there.

You choose.

"to doubt" / "to wonder"

I don't think it's a good idea.

She wondered whether or not it was a good idea.

She doubted that it was a good idea.

"to forbid" / "to order"

Don't you dare leave without me!

So here we would say:

She forbade me to leave without her.

She ordered me not to leave without her.

She ordered me not to leave without her.

So don't forget to use conjunctions when we're writing, when we're transcribing.

It's best to write them down.

Don't forget the many changes that occur.

Here we don't have many questions.

We don't have any actually. We have one question.

Don't forget to remove the question mark.

In the indirect speech don't forget to remove the question mark.

Let's do a little recap.

Place and time expressions

otherwise known as expressions of place and time.

I have written "other" here simply

because there are some words that without a context seem misplaced.

So I have written "other"

But we are referring to place and time here.

So these words change when creating a reported speech.

So we're going from a direct speech to indirect speech,

integrating it to our own sentences or sentence,

hence becoming a reported speech.

So here are the words that change.

"here" >> "there"

"this" >> "that"

"these" >> "those"

now >> then

next >> the following

last month >> the previous month or the month before

You can choose. You have two options.

yesterday >> the day before

tomorrow >> the day after

What happens if I already have one of these words in my direct speech?

I will just simply use the same words in the direct speech as in the reported speech.

So for example someone says to you:

"Let's meet there"

He suggested that we met there.

Reported speech.

So nothing too confusing there.

Just bear in mind that it's like with verb tenses:

you can decide with the tense whether to do a backshift or not,

whether to change the tense, to create more distance.

The same thing goes with place and time.

If you are reporting something that was said to you a few minutes ago

or a couple minutes before

you can choose to just keep the same expression as the one used in the direct speech.

It's up to you!

I think you've now seen everything that you need to familiarise yourself with.

Now please get some practice with the interactive exercises and read your PDFs.

Thanks for watching!

#5 What is an Intent and how to pass values from one activity to another in Android? - Duration: 3:45.

Hello, welcome to BackToCoding. Today we'll be talking about "What is an Intent and

how to pass values from one activity to another in android?" An intent is a type

of message. Whenever you want an activity to start a second activity, you use an

intent. You can think of an intent as an "intent to do something". It's a type of

message that allows you to bind separate objects(such as activities) together at

runtime. If one activity wants to start a second activity, it does it by sending an

intent to Android. Android will start the second activity and pass it the intent.

You can create and send an intent using just a couple of lines of code. You can

start by creating the intent like this: Intent intent = new Intent

(this, Target.class); The first parameter tells Android which object the

intent is from, and you can use the word this to refer to the current activity.

The second parameter is the class name of the activity that needs to receive

the intent. Once you've created the intent, you pass it to Android like this:

startActivity(intent); This tells Android to start the

activity specified by the intent. Once Android receives the intent, it checks

everything's OK and tells the activity to start. If it can't find the activity,

it throws an ActivityNotFoundException. Now, let's see how to pass

information from one activity to another. You've seen how you can create a new

intent using Intent intent = new Intent(this, Target.class);

You can add extra information to this intent that can be picked up by the

activity you're targeting so it can react in some way. To do this, you use the

putExtra() method Intent.putExtra("message", value); Where message is

a String name for the value you're passing in, and value is the value. The

putExtra() method is overloaded, so value has many possible types. As an example, it

can be a primitive such as a Boolean or int, an array of primitives, or a String. You can

use putExtra() repeatedly to add numerous extra data to the intent. If you do this,

make sure you give each one a unique name.

How to retrieve extra information from an intent When Android tells SecondActivity

to start, SecondActivity needs some way of retrieving the extra

information that FirstActivity sent to Android in the intent. There are a couple

of useful methods that can help with this. The first of these is getIntent();

getIntent() returns the intent that started the activity, and you can use

this to retrieve any extra information that, was sent along with it. How you do

this depends on the type of information that was sent. As an example, if you know

the intent includes a String value with a name of "message", you would use the

following: Intent intent = getIntent(); String string = intent.

getStringExtra("message"); You're not just limited to retrieving String values.

As an example, you can use Int intNum = intent.getIntExtra

("name", default_value); to retrieve an int with a name of name. default_value

specifies what int value you should use as a default. That's it for

How to Care for Newborn Puppies! Tips and Advice on How to Care for a Newborn Puppy! - Duration: 3:52.

Hi everybody and welcome back to Relax My Dog, today me and Milo are going to be

talking about how to care for newborn puppies so let's get started

so during the first few weeks of life for a puppy, the most important thing to them is

being fed, keeping warm and also developing their social skills as well

so firstly we're going to be talking about feeding for your newborn puppies

so a mother's dog milk provides everything that the puppies need for

their first four weeks of life and puppies will be fed once every two hours

within their first week and obviously as the puppies grow these intervals of

feeding will obviously get longer and larger meaning that they won't be fed as

often but still obviously when they're puppies they do get fed quite a lot

obviously there might be different circumstances whether your puppies

are orphaned or if the mother of the puppies are completely out of the

picture, if this is the case definitely consult your vet for any guidance that

they may need because obviously the puppies needs to be getting as much

nutrients as they can get, and it's also important to note that you can actually

harm the puppies if you do try to feed them so make sure you're consulting your

vet to find out the exact proper way on how you should be doing this because it

is very very easy to harm them at that stage, and they can usually make this

transition from nursing to solid food after four weeks of life, so now we've

moved on from feeding we can now move back on to the dogs keeping warm

so the combination of their mothers body heat, their mother's milk and also

using blankets where they sleep, this combination should be enough to keep

your puppies warm, however if you do feel that the puppies aren't warm enough, make

sure you are using a hot water bottle filled with warm water not really really

hot, just warm water or a heating pad set to a low temperature to keep the

puppies warm, because obviously puppies at that age can develop hypothermia

extremely quick and extremely easily so it's important to keep them warm

so moving on from feeding your dogs and also keeping your puppies warm, it's also

important for your dogs to develop the social skills within your house, now

during the first two weeks of your puppy's life, try to keep the

handling of the puppies to a minimum, you want the puppies to be developing that

relationship with their mother and also with their brothers and sisters as well

you may notice that the mother will keep a very very strong eye on the

puppies so it's important to let them develop this relationship and to bond

properly, as well as creating that relationship with the mother, they also

need to create that relationship with their brothers and sisters as well, so

letting them have their own space, their own time is extremely key at this time of their life

now moving on to vet visits, now I'm assuming that your

puppies are healthy, vets don't recommend bringing the puppies in until they're

about six weeks old, obviously if your puppies are showing

any signs of not being healthy or having issues, do take them into the vet as soon

as possible. Some signs that you should look out for with your puppies are a

lack of appetite, poor weight gain and also vomiting as well, you should also

look out for diarrhea, coughing or wheezing and also difficulty breathing

as well as constant crying, pale gums, obviously if one of your puppies

is acting a bit strange or not like the other puppies, it may be

important to ask for some guidance from a vet or have a look online for what this may mean

and that is it for this week's video, don't forget to give us a big big

thumbs up if you enjoyed it - are you tired? -

also don't forget to comment down below if you have any video suggestions or if you want to let us
