Well, a bachelor's degree
in the United States takes four years,
but community colleges are only two years.
You graduate with a more basic degree,
but many students who do well in community college
go on to finish their bachelor's degree
at a regular university.

and are very popular with immigrants.

views its police force.
He says he wants to become a police officer in
New York City soon,

But this is a complicated, controversial question.
As you might have seen on the news,
police in America have been accused
unnecessarily violent,
especially with African-Americans.
The New York Times wrote that
the police stop cars being driven by black people
at least five times as much as they stop cars
driven by white people.
So, as you can imagine,
people's attitudes toward the police can vary by race.
For example, a Gallup poll found that
58% of white people in the United States
have confidence in the police,
but only 29% of black people do.
We also have this debate in New York City,
but here's some good news:
In New York, the attitude toward the police is more positive.
In a survey from March, 2017,
Quinnipiac College asked:
Do you approve or disapprove of the way the police
in your community are doing their job?
83% of white people, 69% of black people,
and 75% of Latinos
said, yes, they approve.
It's not exactly the same question,
but it is clear that most New Yorkers
have a positive view of the police.
Maybe it's because the NYPD has many non-white
officers. Right now 47% of the police officers in NYC
are black, Latino, or Asian.
But it's still a very controversial topic.

I always hear Brazilians making this mistake.
It's very confusing, because "música" in Portuguese
has two meanings: music in general,
and "uma música", like a song.
In English, "music" can only be the general meaning.
Music in general.
For example, Thiago, what kind of music do you like?
My favorite kind of music is rock and roll.
My favorite music is tropical music, like salsa.
Note that I can't say that my favorite music
is "Despacito,"
because "Despacito" is a song.
If you're talking about a single composition,
