These Horses Help Southerners With Special Needs | Southern Living - Duration: 3:19.

We've seen children go from wheelchairs to walkers

to quad canes to walking on their own

because the movement of the horse

is the same as your movement when you walk.

They're legs are stretching, they're having fun,

they're talking to their side walker or their leader.

They've got a team of volunteers

that are their best friends.

They've got this horse they look forward to every week.

And who wouldn't wanna do that

rather than sit in a therapist's office?

'Kay now we're coming through the sensory trail.

What you're gonna see is that

the riders are gonna come through

and do all kinds of activities

that are gonna help them with processing skills.

So in coming through they have to stop their horse,

do the activity,

and then ask the horse to walk on.

When we lived in New York

I was supportive of a handicap riding program there.

I though for sure there would be one here,

and so I started checking around and there wasn't.

"Why don't we check into

starting a handicap riding program here."

And within a year that program grew.

We're so blessed at Special Equestrians

because we have such a community of people here

from all walks of life,

because we serve children through adults.

And we see these families that come with young kids

and they're just kind of getting into this world of,

"What do I do with my child who has this disability?

"What is there for me to do with my child

"that has this disability?"

And we can provide them with something

that not only helps them

but it's something that's just fun for them to do.

And so on a daily basis we get to see and live these stories

that these families bring to us.

I would say that there's different phases

where this program has been helpful

to both our son and to us.

One of the nice things here

is that I would meet other families

and they had a group of us on Sunday afternoons

that all had kids with autism, and we became friends.

This is one of the many best kept secrets

in the Birmingham area, in terms of speech therapy,

physical therapy, occupational therapy.

You can't produce this in a speech therapist environment.

I was just so impressed to look back

on the years that he's been in the program

and where he started and where he is now.

'Cause there really are so many gross motor movements

that he can do now that he couldn't do then.

He was able to learn how to ride a bike

without the training wheels, and to balance on that.

I really didn't know

that he was ever gonna be able to do something like that.

For me, it means it's the best legacy

a person could ever want to have.

I know that he's havin' a great day,

the day that he gets to go out

to Special Equestrians and ride.

It's a happy day,

and that makes me feel good.

President Donald Trump announced Thursday roughly $250 billion in deals between American

businesses and China.

On his final day in Beijing, Trump and China's President Xi Jinping oversaw a ceremony in

which corporate giants such as Boeing and Qualcomm signed multibillion-dollar deals.

"This is truly a miracle," China's Commerce Minister Zhong Shan said at a news briefing

in Beijing.

Trump said Thursday he was looking forward to a change in the U.S.-China relationship.

"Discussing trade … knowing that the United States really has to change its policies because

they've gotten so far behind on trade with China and frankly with many other countries,"

he said.

"And I have great respect for you with that because you're representing China.

But it's too bad that past administrations allowed it to get so far out of kilter.

But we'll make it fair and it'll be tremendous to both of us."

Trump went out of his way to avoid alienating his host.

"Both the United States and China will have a more prosperous future if we can achieve

a level economic playing field.

Right now, unfortunately, it is a very one-sided and unfair one.

But — but I don't blame China," he said.

"After all, who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country

for the benefit of its citizens?

I give China great credit," he said.

Trump did not cite former President Barack Obama by name, but he had him in mind.

"But, in actuality, I do blame past administrations for allowing this out-of-control trade deficit

to take place and to grow.

We have to fix this because it just doesn't work for our great American companies, and

it doesn't work for our great American workers.

It is just not sustainable.

I look forward to working toward that goal and to pursuing fair and lasting engagement,"

he said.

Trump pointed out that business connections can help create a more peaceful world.

"The contributions of the business community represented here today are vital to our efforts

to ensure peace and prosperity for our two nations.

Together, we can unlock a future of opportunity, wealth, and dignity far beyond anybody's

wildest dreams," he said.

China could invest more than $100 billion into two U.S. energy projects, CNN reported.

The China Energy Investment Corp. agreed to a 20-year $83.7 billion investment in shale

gas developments and chemical manufacturing projects in West Virginia.

"The massive size of this energy undertaking and level of collaboration between our two

countries is unprecedented," West Virginia Secretary of Commerce H. Wood Thrasher said

in a statement, according to Reuters.

China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. and the Alaskan government will work together to develop the

state's liquified natural gas industry in a $43 billion project that Alaska says will

create up to 12,000 jobs.

Qualcomm signed agreements worth $12 billion with Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo, three Chinese

handset makers.

Boeing will sell 300 Boeing jets to state-run China Aviation Suppliers in $37 billion deal.

Some said the deals offer a place to start a new trade relationship between the two nations.

"Generally, the sense was that this is all a good thing and that's great," said Gentry

Sayad, a Shanghai-based lawyer who attended the trade delegation event in Beijing.

"Now let's see what really happens and whether or not the agreements signed during

this trip can become a basis for a better bilateral trade relationship going forward."

Why Hematomas Occurs after Plastic Surgery-Dr.Hourglass - Duration: 6:41.

Today we are going to discuss: Why hematoma occurs after plastic surgery.

In this channel, we will discuss everything you need to know

for you to get the hourglass shape you've always wanted.

A hematoma is a condition marked by a solid swelling of clotted blood under the skin or within the tissues.

A hematoma may appear like a bruise on the skin or a raised skin surface with blood trapped inside.

The risk of hematoma exists in any type of injury, and plastic surgery is no exception.

During plastic surgery, your blood vessels, nerves, capillaries, and skin get injured or damaged.

The surgical trauma may trigger the discharge of blood from your body that may accumulate

under the skin or within other tissues.

A damage of the blood vessel during plastic surgery can upset the arrangement of the blood vessel wall.

Even a minor damage of the small blood vessel can lead to a hematoma.

The more severe the surgical trauma, the more extensive the hematoma will be.

In other words, if more bleeding occurs during the surgery, it can lead to strikingly large

trapping of blood under the skin or body fissures like the abdomen or chest.

The severity of the hematoma also depends on the type of surgery.

The more extensive the surgery, the more will be the chance of bleeding,

and thus a higher risk of hematomas.

Hematomas mostly occur in the vicinity of the site of the operation.

For example, if you are undergoing butt augmentation, a hematoma may occur in your butt.

If you are undergoing the tummy tuck, a hematoma may occur in your abdomen.

There are certain factors that increase the risk of hematomas.

The first among these is the use of blood thinning medications.

For example, if you are taking aspirin or certain anti-inflammatory drugs, you will be more at risk

of developing hematoma after plastic surgery.

It is for this reason that patients are advised to share their complete medication history

with their surgeons.

The surgeon may ask you to stop taking blood-thinning medications a few weeks before the surgery.

This is done to decrease the risk of hematoma, excessive bleeding, and poor wound healing.

Some health conditions can also increase the risk of hematomas after plastic surgery.

For example, patients with liver disease, blood disorders, and low platelet count are more at risk

of suffering from hematomas.

This is the reason why these patients are not good candidates for the procedure.

Also, if you are using alcohol excessively, your risk of developing hematomas after plastic surgery is greater.

In order to decrease the risk of hematoma, be sure to share your complete health and

medication history with the doctor.

Also, follow the surgeon's instructions and contact your surgeon if you notice a hematoma

forming after the surgery.
