Hey everyone, how's it going? welcome back to info gamer. for this lesson we're
going to show you something very simple and since this is the first lesson of
this tutorial series on how to use unity. We're going to start with showing you
how to download and install, as well as update the game engine, unity. Now, if you
already know how to install and update Unity you can go ahead and skip this
lesson and go on to the next. Now there's a few things that we're going to need
before we get started. The first, is an internet connection. Now, I assume, since
you're already watching this video that you have an internet connection, so we
can go ahead and check that box. The second requirement is a computer and
here I have listed the minimum system requirements in order to run unity so
let me go ahead and remove the camera from the screen. There we go. Now, I just
have my screen capture and you can go ahead and pause the video and make sure
that you have all these system requirements. You can also go to unity3d.com/unity/systemrequirements and I'm going to make sure
that I have this URL listed and the description below as well as on the blog
post correlating with this video now once you have both those requirements, an
internet connection and a good enough computer to run unity we can then
proceed and start downloading unity and so to get unity we want to go over to
the official unity website and so in my browser I'm gonna type www.unity3d.com
and that should bring you to this page here. now there should be a button listed
on the front page of their website that says get unity and that's what we're
going to click on this should take us to a page that looks like this where we get
to choose which version of unity we want to install we can choose from personal
plus and pro now it costs $35 per month in order to get the plus account for
unity and it comes with these additional features for the pro version it costs
one hundred and twenty five dollars per month and it will come with both the
plus features and the pro features but for the purpose of this tutorial series
we're just going to be using the personal version of unity so we can then
go ahead and click on tri-personal that should take you to a page that looks
like this it says download unity personal
we can then go ahead and scroll down and here we need to make sure that we click
this box which verifies that we are eligible to use the personal version of
unity we can then go ahead and click the download installer button this will then
start the download and it will download this executable file to your downloads
folder once it's done downloading we can then go ahead and click on it and it
will start the download process we want to then go ahead and make sure that we
confirm once you have verified that yes you do want unity to be installed on
your computer it will then open the download assistant we can then go ahead
and click on the next button this here is the Terms of Service for using unity
and I would recommend that you at least read through it once and then maybe
briefly skim through it every time you update unity and we want to make sure
that we agree to the Terms of Service and if you want you can print them out
and save them somewhere once we have accepted the Terms of Service we can
then go ahead and click the next button on this page we have all the available
components that we can ask to be installed with unity a lot of these are
build support additions to unity which if you want to say build an app for
Android or iOS we need to make sure that we select the Android build support and
as well the iOS build support now which components you want to have installed on
your computer is up to you but if you want to be developing for a certain
platform you need to make sure that you check the box for that build support now
if you're installing unity for the first time and you're on a Windows computer
you might want to check the Microsoft visual Studios community that will
install a version of visual studios that you can use instead of the monodevelop
software that comes with unity now with each of these boxes that you select it
will add additional time to the installation process now there's one
more note that we need to make about this page if you ever forget to check
the box of a build support or component that you wish to have installed on your
computer with unity you don't have to reinstall everything again you can
actually reopen this assistant and then just check the box for the build support
that you forgot to check previously and then it will install that builds
or and add it to the rest of the build supports that you have so once you have
all the boxes check that you want to have checked we can then go ahead and
click the next button now on this page we get to choose the file location in
which we want unity to be installed so I'm gonna install it on the C Drive but
if you need to change the location you can go ahead and hit browse and then
pick the file location once we have the file location selected we can then go
ahead and hit the next button and this will start the process of installing
unity and all the other components that we have selected now all we have to do
is wait and depending on what your internet connection is like and how good
your computer is it could vary in time 12 seconds late oh oh link thank you for
saving me from the evil Ganon let me reward you with a kiss mmm mmm oh oh
it's it's done okay so once you finish your unity installation it's going to
bring up this window and you can either choose to launch unity or not and then
you can go ahead and hit finish so once unity is opened it'll show this
window here and in the next video we're gonna talk about this window and what
it's for how to open and create new projects so this is the process that
you'll use to install unity for the first time it's also the same process
used to update unity so whenever there's a new version you'll just go to their
website you'll download the latest installer you'll run through the pages
and then before it starts the installation process it'll actually
remove the old version of unity and then it'll install the new version of unity
and then you'll hit finished and it should then open unity thank you so much
