Youtube daily Nov 18 2017

These are Google's Pixel Buds. They're kind of, sort of, Google's answer to Apple AirPods.

They're wireless earbuds, though not truly wireless, and they cost about

the same amount of money, $159. On one hand they're really good wireless

earbuds that do a lot of the basics well, while also teasing that seemingly

inevitable future of having super computers in our ears.

On the other hand there are a couple of tiny nitpicky flaws that when

added together kind of mar the experience.

Up front though we have to start with one of the features

that Google's hyping the most about the Pixel Buds and that's real-time translation.

Can you tell me where the train station is?

Can you tell me where the train station is?

I can, the train station is over there.

It's sort of wrong.

Can you tell me where the bathroom is?

Can you tell me about where the washroom is?

There is a toilet nearby.

That's good to hear.

There's a toilet not far from here.

Can you tell me how to get to the train station?

Are you able to tell me how to get to the train station?

Walk to the next block, go straight and turn right.

Go straight and turn right.

Hello and thanks for helping out.

Hello and thanks for helping out.

Is that kind of right?

Yeah it is, it is. It's taking a while to translate it.

Do you know how to get to the train station?

Tell me how to get to the train station.

What's wrong about it?

It would just be a bit like,

you're kind of like, it's using the imperative so he would be a bit like, not very polite

to just stop someone and say, "Tell me how to get to the train station." It would say, "Can you tell me how ..."

So this is as if

I was a rude five-year-old?

Yes.

Hey.

Hey Dami, thank you for helping us with this.

Wait, so am I speaking into the app or am I speaking at the Pixel Buds?

That's also weird, you are speaking into the app, but it's reading it out in English to me.

Oh so you can hear it in English.

So what it's showing up here it's reading to me in English.

Would you rather hear both though?

No.

Can you tell me how to get to the train station?

I told them how to get to the train station.

Wow. This is not super accurate.

Oh yeah?

Yeah.

What did it get wrong?

Just like a lot of grammar, and you're speaking to me in a really informal way.

This seems to be a problem with it is that it's very rude in the way that it's translating things.

I'm sensing a bit of hostility from you.

The one common thread we saw across all the languages is that the translation is

pretty crude so you're probably going to come across as sounding a little bit

rude or maybe even kind of like a five-year-old and that's not a problem

with the pixel buds themselves it's really just a problem with where

translation apps are at this point in time and that's really all this is.

It's not like the pixel buds are doing magic to translate conversations it's just

leaning on the Google Translate app that already, probably, exists on your phone.

The weirdest thing for me is that with pixel buds you're adding a whole nother

device into what is already an awkward situation when you're trying to speak

somebody else's language and it makes it a bit more impersonal. My co-workers

didn't really seem to have much of a problem with it, just testing it out, but

I know for myself I would probably rather just use the app on the phone as

opposed to adding a whole another device into the situation.

Now there may very well be a time one day where everybody is wearing the Pixel Buds

and using them to talk to people across languages and borders but that

future is not here yet. This current version of the project is only teasing

and it's not delivering on it. Google assistant however, is much further

along and here's the best thing about it on the Pixel Buds: it is stupid fast.

You just tap the right earbud and you're already talking to the assistant.

You don't have to wait for it to confirm that it's heard you or anything you just

tap talk and it's off to the races. It's so fast that I found myself begging for

reasons to use it. I usually only use the assistant for things like weather or

alarms, especially on headphones.

That said, I think Google's assistant is the

best of the ones out there and having it less than a second away definitely feels

like a genuine step forward. I found myself using it in ways that I never had,

like asking it to tell me how long it'll take me to get home on the subway or

asking it to read me the news while I walk from the subway back home.

So let's set all these fantastical and futuristic features aside now, because while they

might be useful in a pinch, what you're going to be using the Pixel Buds for the

most is listening to music that's coming from your phone and in the right setting

they do that really well. They reproduce audio really clearly. There's a little

bit of depth to it, more than I expected to find on earbuds this size and they'll

do that for a while too. Google advertises about five hours of listening time and I

found that as long as you're not using the assistant a ton, you'll get at least

four hours of what they're claiming. But the open air design of these earbuds,

Google calls it semi occluded, is a totally double-edged experience.

On the one hand it's good for situations like running where you want to have sound

from the outside world coming in, but on the other hand it means that sound can

totally drown out the music listening experience. Especially if you're in a big

city like New York. I found myself hearing buses, trains, traffic,

people walking by me instead of the music that I wanted to listen to. There was even one

point where I actually heard the music from someone else's headphones instead

of my own music. That's annoying.

That brings us to the last part of the

experience with the Pixel Buds, which is the case. I really want to like this

thing and for the most part I do. It's got a nice soft touch finish to it.

It has a couple extra charges worth of battery in it and it will even quick charge the

Pixel Buds. Ten minutes will give you about an hour, which is awesome.

The problem comes from just how finicky the processes is of getting

the buds back in the case. You have to put them in one by one and then you have to

wrap the cord around just the right way or else the case won't close and Google

even had to put a sticker on the inside of the case to teach people how to do that.

Now the way that you get Pixel Buds to fit in your ears also has a couple issues.

You have to tug on this little loop of the cable that connects the two

earbuds together, which is a nice idea, but that cable tends to slip over time

and so I found that pulling them out of the case the cable has slipped or even

when I have them in my ears the cable slips and I have to constantly readjust

them to keep them fitting in my ears the right way. Now the touchpad on the right

is really fast for Google assistant, which is great and you can tap to play

and pause music and you can even swipe to control the volume, but it's super

sensitive and so you have to be careful. I found myself getting lots of

accidental taps and swipes especially when I took the earbuds out of my ears

and went to put them back in the case. That was really frustrating because I

would hear music starting to play again or I would lose my place in a podcast.

It just seems like an easy problem that Google could fix if the earbuds know

that they're out of your ears. Now these are admittedly little frustrations,

but when you add them all up together it makes for a more problematic experience

than I was expecting with Pixel Buds. There are a lot of good ideas in this

product and I'm excited to see what Google does with that going forward.

It's just painfully obvious right now that this is their first attempt at making

wireless earbuds.

10 Most Beautiful Snakes In The World - Duration: 7:07.

10 Most Beautiful Snakes In The World.

Number 10, Asian Vine Snake.

This snake has an extraordinary geometric pattern to it scales.

This pattern is highlighted when the snake feels threatened and expands its body, revealing

the black and white between the green scales.

When relaxed, the snake has what looks like a very slender, nearly all green body.

This isn't its only defense.

According to Reptiles Magazine, "When vine snakes sense danger, they will remain motionless,

but if there is a breeze, they will sway back and forth with the foliage

to add to their camouflage.

At other times, for reasons yet unclear, if there is a threat, they will remain motionless

with their tongue extended for minutes at a time."

Number 9, Blue racer snake.

This beauty is a pretty rare photograph of a Blue Racer snake.

I say rare because its not often you get such a brilliant blue reflecting from the scales,

as often they seem more gray in color.

The Blue Racer's formal name is Coluber constrictor but despite this, they normally simply pin

their prey to the ground and swallow them alive.

They are known mostly east of the Rockies but have been seen as far south as Mexico.

Number 8, Eastern coral snake.

Micrurus fulvius is one of the most beautiful of all snakes.

Unfortunately it is also very venomous, as are all coral snakes.

On the good side, there are only about 15 to 20 recorded bites a year but on the bad

side they are deadly and soon there will be no more antivenin for it.

Pfizer, has said that with such low demand, it is not worth the cost and research spent

on it, and current stock is due to expire at the end of this year.

The snakes are forest animals, living in leaf litter and brush.

They flee before biting, but if you do get bitten it is imperative you go to a doctor.

Respiratory failure occurs within hours.

Number 7, Green tree python.

The green tree python is known for being green, hence the name.

But that isn't the only color that this species might be.

Juvenile green tree pythons may be bright yellow, vibrant red or even a very dark brown.

While gorgeous in its adult coloration, the species is also stunning when it's young and

going through color changes.

The individual shown here is in the yellow phase, with brown spots that make it look

a bit like a ripening banana.

As they mature, the pythons will usually change color to a variation of green or blue, however,

some green tree pythons will keep that yellow coloration for their lives.

Number 6, Iridescent Shieldtail.

The only reason this lovely is not in the top 3 is that it is hard to see exactly how

beautiful she is from this photograph, but she is actually even more gorgeous than she

appears here.

She has to be one of the most beautiful snakes in the world.

The Iridescent Shieldtail, Melanophidium bilineatum , is not well known.

Only three specimens are thought to have ever been caught and little is known of how it

behaves in the wild.

Recently some more have been seen but all that can be said for certain is that it's

beautiful and rare.

Number 5, Red headed krait.

The Red-headed Krait is a highly venomous snake which inhibits forested hills, lower

areas below 400 meters elevation.

It is mostly found in the southern part of Thailand.

The Red-headed Krait grows up to 6.9 ft. Beauty of this snake is personified in the

form of its bright orange-red head with pale body and short reddish tail.

Number 4, Formosan odd-scaled snake.

Another snake species the shimmers with rainbow iridescence is the Formosan odd-scaled snake.

This is one of several species of odd-scaled snake, all of which have this same iridescent

effect in their scales.

The Formosan odd-scaled snake is found in Taiwan and the southern islands of Japan.

It is harmless to humans and spends its time hunting worms, frogs and other small prey.

The species is nocturnal, but put it under light and its whole body dances with color!

Number 3, Honduran milk snake.

The Honduran milk snake, is an egg laying species of nonvenomous colubrid snake.

Its base color is red with distinct rings or bands of black and yellow.

In some cases the yellow is actually a deep orange color and the animal in question is

referred to as a tangerine phase.

The Honduran milk snake has a resemblance to the coral snake and this similarity in

color, known as Batesian mimicry, helps protect the snake from potential predators.

Number 2, Brazilian rainbow boa.

The trait that stands out the most in this boa species is the iridescent shimmer of its

scales.

Glistening over the brown-and-black patterns is a sheen of rainbow colors, which show up

under light.

According to the National Zoo, "the iridescent sheen imparted by microscopic ridges on their

scales ... act like prisms to refract light into rainbows."

Found throughout Central and South America, there are nine subspecies of rainbow boa,

including the Brazilian rainbow boa shown now.

Considering their unusual beauty, it's no wonder that these large snakes, which can

sometimes reach up to seven feet in length, are popular in the pet trade.

In the 1980s, hundreds of Brazilian rainbow boas were removed from the wild and exported

for sale.

Many of the individuals did not survive the process, spurring conservation-friendly captive

breeding programs available today.

Number 1, San Francisco garter snake.

Some people consider the San Francisco garter snake to be the most beautiful species in

the world.

That is, of course, subjective, but it's a stunningly beautiful snake.

Known for the bright turquoise stripes that run alongside deep coral and black, the snake

is a sight to behold.

Unfortunately, it's also an exceedingly rare sight.

This snake is on the Endangered Species List, with perhaps as few as 1,000-2,000 adults

remaining on Earth.

'Russia' Informant Spills The Beans, This Is Massive - Duration: 3:24.

The Uranium One deal is without a doubt one of the most controversial government bombshells

in US history.

Many questions are centering around how much the Obama administration knew about this deal,

and how much they covered up.

It turns out that the secret FBI confidant who went undercover to find Hillary Clinton's

connection in the Uranium dealings is none other than William Campell, a Russian lobbyist.

According to The Daily Caller, Campell's attorney, Victoria Toensing, revealed that

former-President Obama's Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, is responsible for Campbell's

ability to "tell what all the Russians were talking about during the time that all these

bribery payments were made."

Cambell is scheduled to speak in front of a congressional committee about various factors

surrounding the Uranium One deal.

The deal involved a Russian government-backed company, Rosatom, buying a uranium firm that

held 20 percent of the United States' uranium reserves.

This testimony to Congress will be crucial in discovering more about the deal.

Campbell allegedly gave relevant information to the FBI about the things that he witnessed

while he was undercover.

Congressional committees sought interviews with Campbell during his five years undercover.

These attempts were thwarted until recently.

Sarah Isgur Flores, the spokeswoman of the Department of Justice, announced that a deal

was reached in October allowing Congress to speak with Campbell.

This agreement wasn't made until almost eight years after he initially went undercover.

Even better news emanates from this scenario.

Two House chairmen said they initiated a probe in October to find out whether Russia had

an influence over the Uranium One deal.

There is evidence indicating that Bill Clinton received half a million dollars for a short

speech to a Russian bank while the deal was in negotiations.

The speech furthered initial speculation.

Then there was evidence showing that money was going into the Clinton Foundation from

the Russians while they were waiting for the deal to finalize.

Some say that the money was a "donation" to help speed up the process of getting the

Uranium One deal secured.

There is little speculation about the money being routed into Clinton accounts.

Payments have been widely reported and confirmed by various sources.

But the worst bit of evidence involves former President Bill Clinton.

The media caught wind of a meeting between Obama's Attorney General, Loretta Lynch,

and Bill Clinton on an Arizona tarmac.

This is the same Loretta Lynch that Cambell's attorney claimed held up the investigative

process back when it was unfolding.

It is difficult to ignore the evidence and brush it off as mere coincidence.

If Hillary Clinton, Loretta Lynch, and Bill Clinton's involvement in this deal aren't

as bad as some speculate, there is indeed reason to be alarmed over the backhanded dealings

that brought this deal to bear.

To add insult to injury, Mrs. Clinton has denied all claims of this incident, insisting

that the accusations have been debunked.

The problem with that: no such evidence of this issue being debunked has ever come to

light, not even from the most left-wing media organizations.
