Hey everybody, it your friendly neighborhood news chick here, delivering news, shouting
out other creators, and still working my way towards that heavenly cup of coffee, Kona
style.
We cover a reporting error the Air Force committed, Catalan not being able to be on the same page,
more on Lebanon, Stricter sanctions on Cuba, and FBI raiding a body bank.
So, grab your favorite brew and your favorite chair and let's get into this.
It's seems that Pagan Minotaur has released his apology video, much to the distaste of
those he slighted.
I did hear him say, "I'm sorry".
In my opinion, that is where he should have stopped, but he felt he needed to expound
on why he did what he did.
This is human nature.
Many people try to explain their actions, and in so doing, lessen the apology to a degree.
Do I believe he didn't do it for the subs?
Part of me does not, but the cynical part of me will always believe that he did to at
least a small part do it for the subs.
He cites mental health.
I know a few people who have mental issues, one of which does not speak to me anymore
because he thought I chose Ronin over him when my friend would call me three times a
day.
Another I am still in contact with because I worry about him being a danger to himself.
So, yes, I believe the mental health issues as a possible reason for the behavior.
As for him not knowing why he did it, that is possible as well.
Oh, and things on Twitter have gotten more interesting.
Our Shitlord-in-Chief, Donald Trump, now has 280 characters for more shit lordy goodness.
With that said, let's get to the news.
In a report released on Tuesday, the shooter who took the lives of 26 people and wounded
20 more was an escapee of a mental health facility.
June 8, 2012, the shooter was confined awaiting court-martial for assaulting his wife and
step-son and later was taken to Peak Behavioral Health Services in Santa Teresa, New Mexico.
The hospital had told police he was a danger to himself and others.
Reports also tell he issued death threats towards "his military chain of command".
On June 13, 2012, an official at Peak told El Paso Police the shooter was a missing person
who "suffered from mental disorders".
They also stated he had plans to leave the state.
The facility employee said the shooter was already caught sneaking firearms onto Holloman
Air Force Base.
In all instances, due to the nature of the discharge, he should not have had access to
firearms, but due to a grievous error in reporting to the federal crime database by the Air Force,
the offense was never logged.
Jeff Lepp, owner of the store that sold the shooter the AR was quoted as saying, "Until
we have an approval, we will not transfer a firearm to a person.
You never want to sell something to somebody who's gonna commit any form of a crime, let
alone a mass murder like this."
He says he relies on the database to screen customers.
The FBI are still trying to decrypt the shooter's cell phone.
They were able to open it, but the encryption is slowing the investigation.
Secessionist parties have not been able to agree on a united ticket to contest the December
21st snap regional election.
This makes ruling the region challenging after the vote and also their split from Spain.
Spain now faces its worst political crisis in forty years by sparking a mass exiting
of businesses forcing the capital to cut economic forecasts and reopening wounds from Spain's
1930's civil war.
The political parties had until midnight Tuesday to register their coalitions before the Dec
21st election; however, the two major driving forces could not agree on a new pact before
the deadline.
This could lead to a fight for leadership for the head of the party.
Leader of both the main parties, Puidemont of the Catalan Democratic Party and the former
Vice President Junqueras are both charged with sedition, rebellion, and misuse of public
funds.
Puidemont is in self-imposed exile in Belgium and says he will oppose extradition.
After the resignation of Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri, the European Union has asserted
support for Lebanon.
This echoes the United States backing of Beirut, whom Saudi Arabia has accused of declaring
war.
Both issued statements of support, a support that is in stark contrast to the tone they
took with the Saudi government.
The Saudi government has put Lebanon and the Iran-backed Lebanese Hezbollah together saying
both are hostile towards them.
There is speculation that Hariri's resignation was because he had been caught up in the anti-corruption
purge in Saudi Arabia, where his family made their fortune.
New sanctions have been placed against Cuba today.
This is in an effort to prohibit Cuba 's military from benefiting off of US trade and travelers.
These changes will take effect on Thursday.
The expanded list will include barring Cuban government officials from transactions as
well as denying exports to Cuban entities who have been banned.
As soon as I have the full list of sanctions, I will report them.
MedCure, one of the largest body brokers in the United States have come under investigation
by the FBI via a search warrant.
The reasons for the seizure of the company's records is sealed at this time, meaning the
charges under which the search warrant was granted cannot be disclosed.
Body brokers, like MedCure, are businesses that dissect and distribute body parts of
people who have donated their remains to science.
From 2011-2015, the company has taken receipt of more than 11, 000 bodies, which lead to
the distribution of more than 51,000 body parts to the medical industry.
Though it is not clear what the search entailed, the fact the FBI has been able to obtain such
a warrant points to the federal agency having enough evidence to be granted a warrant.
It is illegal to profit from the sale of organs destined for transplant, but in most states,
it IS legal to sell donated whole or parts of bodies, like arms and heads for medical
research, training and for education.
Body brokers are known to prey on those too poor to pay for a burial or cremation.
Because of the lack of uniform laws across the country, it was possible for a Reuters
reporter to purchase two heads and spine from a broker in Tennessee via email.
Yes, it's time for recommended videos.
The first one is goodfella.
Funny, yet insightful, this Scot tackles an article where someone is arrested for staring
at someone.
Yes, I said STARING.
If you haven't subbed to Goodfella, you are missing out.
The next one on the list is BrickyOrchid8.
With a video titled So You Wanna Main Ornn, he just cements why I love to watch this video
series from him.
He is a laugh-a-minute while educating you on a League of Legends Champion.
Third on our list is Dire Wolf.
Uranium One is a snippet from a podcast that he does weekly.
He delves further into the story of the company, the Clintons, and all the conspiracies that
have come out of this story.
Last, but certainly not least is our lovable Beardbarian.
He is putting a call out to everyone to submit clips of 30 seconds of silence for military
veterans.
The details for how to submit the clip is in the video.
This is a golden opportunity to pay your respects for those who serve, have served, and made
the ultimate sacrifice for their countries.
As more information comes to light about the Texas shooting, I can't help but pray for
the people who lost so many so violently.
There are news stories about the survivors but they are often overshadowed by developments
and new information coming out about the one who has now left a community in mourning and
trying to recover emotionally from an event they probably never thought would happen to
them.
We are never truly prepared for the loss of a loved one, but some have lost many as seven
in one day.
As someone who can find words to describe anything for fiction and non-fiction alike,
I would not know how to begin to describe the depths of despair these people are feeling.
Their loss is unfathomable.
I hope they can find the help and solace they need to move on.
I pray that they can find enough peace to keep moving forward, but most of all, I wish
they can find all the love and support they need to recover and grieve.
Catalan is moving more and more towards secession, but how can they hope to move forward with
being independent if they cannot agree on how they will do it?
They are going against an entire country that has thwarted their every attempt at breaking
away, a country continuing to do so, Spain.
Instead of trying to negotiate, Spain has taken a militant route.
This does not mean I think negotiations would have helped, but it would have been a better
alternative to shooting rubber bullets at your own people.
If a region of people is unhappy, would it not be a better course of action to sit down
with them and discuss their grievances?
The EU and the US are together in backing Lebanon.
This troubles me, because now our country has a balancing act to perform between Lebanon
and Saudi Arabia.
Diplomacy is a chess game of sorts and must be carefully thought out before making a move.
Trump has not fully proven to me he can be consistently diplomatic.
He has taunted Kim Jong Un, argued with other leaders, and sticks his foot in his mouth
when it comes to his tweets.
I hope he gets the best advice for handling this situation.
We have enough problems in that region of the Middle East without creating more.
Cuba, it was hard not to inject my opinion upon writing the brief report on that story.
So, I will do it here.
This is how Obama should have handled Raul, sanctions and restrictions until Raul realizes
he needs to change the way he is treating his own people.
Yes, this may mean more hardship for my family who is still there, but if there is ANY chance,
ANY CHANCE AT ALL, this can shake Raul and make him come to the table with concessions
to better the lives of his people, I will back Trump on this.
I am not not going to lie here.
This scares the shit out of me.
I am a donor.
To think that you can buy body parts just by sending a few emails and performing a wire
transfer is horrible.
I hope the FBI gets to the bottom of this and soon.
