Eight Bareun Party lawmakers reinstated to Liberty Korea Party on Thursday - Duration: 0:57.

Eight lawmakers that defected from the minor conservative Bareun Party officially joined

the main opposition Liberty Korea Party today.

In a press conference this morning,... the lawmakers,... along with the Liberty Korea

Party chair Hong Joon-pyo,... stressed the need to unite the conservative bloc to keep

the liberal government in check.

A ninth lawmaker, Representative Joo Ho-young,... currently the Bareun Party's floor leader

and acting chair,... will join them after the Bareun party's national convention next

Monday.

The defections give the main opposition party 116 seats in the 299 seat National Assembly.

The Bareun Party will have eleven seats,... less than the 20 seats needed to be classed

as a negotiating bloc.

The exodus comes just ten months since the Bareun party launched,... splintering from

the Liberty Korea Party following the power abuse scandal.
