Youtube daily Mar 12 2017

A question visitors to Germany are likely to ask is whether they can get by on English.

And it's a fair question, because German is a famously difficult and scary language to learn;

and if you're only visiting for two weeks,

a three-year language course is probably out of the question.

So, as a clueless tourist armed only with the words for "please", "thank you" and "beer",

will you get by,

or will you find yourself adrift on a sea of confusion?

English is the world's lingua franca,

which means it's the language used

when people of different mother tongues have to communicate.

For example, if a Czech businessman meets his Chinese contact in Paris,

the chances are the language they'll be speaking is English.

So it's not unreasonable to suppose that Germans might speak English.

But... do they?

You'll get a range of replies to this question.

Some people will say that an awful lot of Germans don't speak a word of English,

and they had a really tough time in the country.

Others will say that literally every German they met spoke fantastic English,

and some will even complain that when they tried to practice their German,

Germans would always speak English.

So, either Germans everywhere speak English, or none of them do.

How very helpful.

According to a study for the European Commission, which was conducted in 2012,

about 56% of Germans say they know enough English to be able to have a conversation in it.

That compares with 90% of Dutch people and 20% of Hungarians,

so... middling.

So perhaps it's no wonder that people have such vastly different experiences.

Of course, among those who didn't say they could have a conversation in English

is probably quite a large number of people who know enough English

to able to direct you to the museum you just got hopelessly lost trying to find.

It's not as if nearly half the people you meet will be unable to speak a word.

If you're a tourist, most people you're likely to interact with are going to be working

in some job relevant to the tourist industry:

hotel receptionists, wait staff, tour guides.

These people will know at least enough English to be able to do their jobs.

Which is the reason they were hired in the first place.

As a rule, Germans who have studied to university level

will probably speak English quite well.

Those with a less academic background will probably speak less, or none at all.

In the city, you're more likely to find somebody who speaks English;

in the country, perhaps less.

Older generations are less likely to speak English than younger people;

and this is especially true in former East Germany,

because under the old Communist regime, people were not encouraged to learn English.

Once you leave the airport, you may see some signs in English,

but it's actually quite unlikely unless you happen to be in an extremely touristy area.

And it can be frustratingly random.

For example, in larger train stations,

some of the signs are translated into English and French.

But signs pointing to important sights might not be.

So, can you survive without German?

I'd say yes. But if you go off the beaten track, it might be a bit challenging.

In my experience, people will do their best to help you,

and it can be surprising how well you can communicate

even if you don't have a language in common.

So, my advice:

learn a few basic phrases, because everyone appreciates it if you make an effort;

and then come over here and enjoy yourselves,

and don't worry too much about the language.

here is in detail the pro-sim shifter, it measures 19 cm long, 10,5 cm wide and 23 cm high, it weighs 2,8kgs so we have a quality product, solid

manufacturing in aluminum and steel,on the front panel, the pro-sim lite reference as PSL and QUAIFE, quaife is the pro-sim partner for the development of the shifter, it's an english company that manufactures parts for the automobile (gearbox, differential...)

aluminum cylinders on the front and back, an aluminum plate on the top

steel plates with a thickness of 3mm

on the top there is a plexiglass glass of 2mm thickness and a plexiglass glass on the back of the shifter

we will see the inside of the shifter and the mechanism

a steel lever

a screw on the top to adjust the hardness,

the system is simple, inside there is a spring and a ball that will interferes in the mechanism

when i screw, i compress the spring and the ball on the mechanism so more i screw, more there will be a hard effect in the lever

inside there are steel parts, a return spring, a controller leo bodnar bu0836, a hall sensor, high quality components

the mechanism is of high quality, steel parts, a notched wheel , the ball in contact with the wheel

we see on the video that when i actuate the lever, the effect of the passage of shift is well retranscribed

the shifter is delivered with a 3 meters USB cable

we will connect it to the back of the shifter

the price is £395 and the aluminum knob in option costs £10

i install the shifter on the simulator and i give you my feeling in game

i test the PSL shifter on iracing with the skip barber on laguna seca track, let's go!

the shifter measures 19cm long for 2,8kgs

it took me 30' to install the shifter

if you want to buy it, it will require a good location and a good rig because it is very heavy

it will connect to the pc, plug and play model

a shifter very heavy

it is made of steel, a product of good quality, with hall sensor for reliability and longevity, a controller leo bodnar

when buying a psl shifter, it is quiet for long years

the feeling is incredible

it feels like having a real car gearbox, it is really very good

he is making noise but it's really good

the hardness adjustment is very simple. we can adjust to the millimeter

we regulate as we want

i took the aluminum knob in option, i find it more beautiful

it is very slippery but we have a good grip because it is small and fine

otherwise i think we can change it

the feeling is very good

an incredible feeling

the shifter costs about 500E all inclusive

it's expensive but the quality is really good

it is in the price range of carman, simulate it...

for me the price is justified for the quality

the plexiglass glass on the top is just for the design

i have contacted pro-sim by facebook, an professional company ,very good

when there is good customer service it is very good, for me it's 50% quality of a product

last round

the shifter is available on their website, it is delivery quickly in a few days

i would put the link in the description of the video

3-4 days for delivery

the feeling is very very good i like it

the contact is very clear

very good job

i finish the round and i make an conclusion

this test is finished, the shifter is very good

a incredible feeling

leo bodnar controller, hall sensor , quality components

the negative points are : the weight and length of the shifter , it will require a good rig

i put the link in the description of the video to buy this shifter

How To Tie An Improved Clinch Knot On A Fishing Hook | Fishing Knots - Duration: 1:43.

Today we are learning how to tie an

improved clinch knot. This knot is quick

and easy to learn and is perfect for monofilament fishing line.

You can use it to tie your fishing line to hook, such as this, to swivels,

to artificial baits, such as these, or to lots of other

tackle as well. To begin, when we are

tying a knot, we have two parts of the line.

You have the tag end here that you'll be

using to actually tie the knot, and then

the standing line, which is usually

attached to something like your fishing rod.

The first thing we are going to do

when tying an improved clinch knot is put the tag end

through the eye of the hook and pull

some extra line out parallel to your

standing line. You always want to make sure

you have plenty of line to work with

when tying a knot. Then you are going to make

five twists around the standing line

like this. One, two, three, four, five.

The next thing you want to do is take

the tag end and put it through the loop

near the eye of your hook. Then, you'll take

the tag end and put it through the loop

you just created. Pull the hook and begin

to tighten the knot. But you always want

to make sure that you wet the knot before

fully tightening it.

Once the knot is tightened, you can clip the

tag end to about 1/8 of an inch.

And that's how you tie an improved clinch knot.

은혜갚은 호랑이 - Duration: 2:58.

A long time ago there was woodcutter that worked very hard

Ughhh... I'm exhausted

Roar!! Can you help me?

There is a thorn stuck in my mouth... would you take it out?

The woodcutter wondered if he should actually help the tiger that was infamous for the bad things he does

Okay, I'll help you

The tiger replied with tears in his eyes

Thank You

Right as the woodcutter took out the thorn the tiger ran off

Did I make the wrong choice?

The next day, the woodcutter woke and found a pile of wood on the front porch

Wow!! It seems like the tiger helped me!!

So the woodcutter was happy but his mother was not

What's the use of all this wood if he doesn't even have a wife yet

Oh, I should try looking for a girl to be the woodcutter's wife

The next morning, the woodcutter woke up to a suprise

someone screamed outside

so he went outside to have a look

What happened, why is this lady fainted here?

After this, the woodcutter and the mother took care of her

Thank you so much

No problem

The lady found love at first sight when she saw the woodcutter

Let's get married

Let's go to my hose tomorrow to meet my father

The lady's father was a magistrate

Who is this man?

Father, if it wasn't for this man I would've been dead

Really?

Then, I will give my blessing to this marriage

Not only that but I shall give this man a reward for saving my daughter

So the couple lived happily ever after

Travelling to New York City | US Adventures 2017 - Duration: 9:46.

Hi folks, just packing up the last of the hotel room now

I didn't really have time to say good morning or anything today

because it's a very early flight and I was up very very late last night.

Okay so just need to get my phone off charge.

I'm getting picked up at 8.30 and that's in about two minutes so

I should probably get going.

Today we're off to New York, another place I've never been to before

and it should be good, it's gonna be... about a 5 hour flight? Yeah.

Now there's a sign there that says "Scottish".

What do they think's Scottish? "Scottish Inns and Suites".

I didn't realise Scotland is particularly known for its inns and its suites, but maybe we are.

Okay so as you can see we're now in the airport, we got through security super super fast

and now it's gonna be a while, I can't remember the exact time, oh it's ten o'clock.

And I think we're flying at about midday so we are gonna be here a while.

But we'll maybe go and get something to eat and kind of take our time, look around, see what's what.

You know me in a good airport, I love looking around these things.

so anyways I'll check back if I find anything cool.

Okay so I've got my breakfast now, it's a pizza today

that I'll somehow managed to open with one hand if I try hard enough.

There we go. There we go, it's a "Meat Lover's Dream" apparently - oh!

I didn't expect it to be a sort of come apart box, they're like two very separate areas.

So this has Pepperoni, Meatballs and Red Onion on and it looks very nice

and I got a lemonade to go with that.

That place was pretty cool, it was like create your own pizzas and stuff.

Or you could just choose one of the ones they already had

and you could see them make it as well which is really cool.

So yeah, we're just sitting and chilling and waiting for the flight now.

Goodbye Houston!

[TRANSIT NOISE]

Okay folks so I'm now in New York and it's time for another room tour.

So this is the Doubletree in Times Square.

Do you want to say hello? Yeah?

This is Paul Paul: Hello

He's not that small, he's just across the room. [LAUGHTER]

Okay so first thing as we come in the room,

usually the bathroom, but here we have a kind of sink area.

It's like kitchen come bathroom come extra sink, whatever you want to use it for

which is really good. Is there anything in the cupboards?

We've got a microwave, a safe

and I'm assuming this isn't meant to be opened but I'll try my best

I'll let you know if I ever get into it.

Okay, bathroom next. Nice mirror.

These are the same travel products as we had in Houston, "Crabtree and Evelyn"

or Eve-lin, I don't really know. None of that looks like it's meant to be opened.

Two doors because there's one from the living room...

Here's the toilet and the towels and the shower / bath.

Here's the first bedroom. Well I say, "the first bedroom", it's the only bedroom!

We're very nearby Times Square here, so - oops!

So we can see a lot of billboards

and a building that's not quite complete.

There's some dancing M&Ms down there

and way way way way down there is the street because we are on the 35th floor.

And then that brings you back through to the living room.

Where we've got a nice TV, a desk area and this is my bed for the next four days.

Don't worry it does fold out into a bed.

I decided not to participate in the coin toss and Paul's having the bedroom

and I'm having a sofa because the sofa looks just as good.

So yeah we've just checked in, we're on the 35th floor which is definitely definitely

the highest hotel room I have ever had so far.

It was so high up that when we were going up in the elevator, my ears popped.

So that's saying something, that doesn't usually happen.

Um New York is cold. Colder than houston,

it's about 44 Fahrenheit I think it was saying in the taxi.

Um, don't ask me to convert that, I can't do but it was 44 Fahrenheit.

Mum, please help me out here. It was that temperature.

We've decided to be adventurous and go out for a night tour

so this should be good this is the same sort of thing that I was doing in San Francisco.

It's all good. This is our lovely elevator and the lovely Paul of course. Heheh.

So yeah we're going to maybe try and catch a night tour, see some of the sites

Should take about two hours and I've wrapped up warm because I've heard it's gonna be cold.

Right we're here, we're ready. It's still gonna be another 5 minutes or so.

It's right next to M&Ms World, which is very very tempting to go in.

But I've been in the London one and if this one's anything similar,

they actually pump the smell of M&Ms all round the store

so you really really really want some.

And then it costs you like a fortune to buy them,

so I'm probably not gonna head into M&Ms World just to keep myself safe

although I do love it in there so I might do if I'm feeling risky one day.

Um yeah so we're just out here. It's 6.40 and we're just about to get going.

[MUSIC]

We've got food!

This is...

there's some turkey in there and roasted tomato

and I think it's Gouda cheese

and there's all sorts of other nice things in there.

And this is the biggest biggest biggest pickle I've ever seen, I'm assuming it's a pickle.

Maybe I'm really embarrassing myself, I have no idea.

The game is on over there, we've just had the halftime show.

And this is my black cherry soda, I've never seen a black cherry one before but it's very nice.

So the night tour was lots of fun, got to see lots of great sights.

It was a good introduction to the things that I'm going to see while I'm here

so that's all good.

And we're just trying to get warm again now because we wrapped up very very warm

and it was still quite cold.

But not as cold, I hear people saying, as it has been recently

so maybe they've brought out some warm weather for us, who knows?

Anyways I'm gonna get back to eating now and if I have some room, I might try a cannoli later.

Well I said I could be tempted into a cannoli and I have my cannoli here ready to try

So it's time for another "Kate's Testing Zone"!

I think it's like pastry with cream piped through it?

That's a really nice balance of flavors.

I think there's maybe like cinnamon or something in the pastry.

Which makes it really nice cause it kinda gives it a zing.

So... I mean I'm not like a food connoisseur at all.

But I think that's good. That's getting...

That's getting a 5 out of 5, I would definitely buy that again.

Fear not those of you who have been wondering about my lovely little sofa over here.

This is the most high-class sofa bed I've ever seen.

The cushions are actually sewn onto the back of the bed

so when you pull this out, it's effectively a really comfy headboard.

Only I could end up with a sofa that's actually real fancy!

Anyways I'm going to get to bed now, it's about ten o'clock at night

but I've had a very long day and a very long day the day before so

I think it's time for bed. So thank you very very much for watching everybody and goodnight.

We were speaking on the bus to an absolutely lovely girl and

who I'm assuming is like a family member, maybe her dad or someone? I don't know.

She was really really nice and she was asking me about YouTube and that

because I have a YouTube duffel bag that I was using to put my coat and stuff in.

Thank you for being so interesting and having a nice conversation with me.
