AMY GOODMAN: We begin today in Saudi Arabia, where King Salman has deposed his nephew as
crown prince and replaced him with his own son, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, who
currently serves as defense minister and has been presiding over the devastating U.S.-backed,
Saudi-led war in Yemen.
In response to the news, The Huffington Post's foreign affairs reporter Akbar Shahid Ahmed
tweeted, "This is HUGE.
Man he is replacing was against Qatar crusade+Yemen war.
Saudi is doubling down on its most controversial actions," he wrote.
Last month, President Donald Trump signed a series of arms deals with Saudi Arabia totaling
a record $110 billion during a visit to Riyadh.
The arms deal includes tanks, artillery, ships, helicopters, missile defense systems and cybersecurity
technology.
United Nations monitors have warned previous Saudi-led attacks on Yemen could constitute
crimes against humanity.
More than 10,000 people have died amidst the ongoing U.S.-backed, Saudi-led war in Yemen,
which has also destroyed Yemen's health, water and sanitation systems, sparking a deadly
cholera outbreak.
The United Nations warns some 19 million of Yemen's 28 million people need some form
of aid, with many of them at risk of famine.
For more, we're joined now by Kristine Beckerle, the Yemen and UAE researcher for Human Rights
Watch.
She was in Yemen earlier this year.
Human Rights Watch and the Associated Press have just revealed the existence of a secret
network of prisons in southern Yemen where prisoners are tortured.
We're going to begin, Kristine—thanks so much for joining us—with the change,
the shakeup in Saudi leadership.
Explain the significance of the king now replacing his nephew with his son as crown prince.
KRISTINE BECKERLE: So, I think when I sort of saw the news yesterday, my first feeling
was of surprise, and then my second feeling was of dread, because my interaction with
the idea of Mohammed bin Salman is through—been through the war in Yemen.
He serves as—he was the deputy crown prince and the defense minister, so he was the Saudi
official responsible for the ongoing military campaign in Yemen.
And when you say that, it's not sort of just because he was the defense minister,
but also because when people talk about the war in Yemen, they talk about Mohammed bin
Salman and how he has been a, really, driver of this war.
And—
AMY GOODMAN: He's very young.
He's 31.
KRISTINE BECKERLE: And he's—yeah, he's a kid, basically.
And when you talk about what is going on in Yemen, and you look at the actions of Saudi
Arabia and the coalition it's leading, it's very hard to see a policy or a plan or a strategy,
but it's very easy to see devastation wrought on a country for two-and-a-half years.
You've got famine, cholera and repeated war crimes and violations of the laws of war.
So, when you say you're going to give this person more power, and we haven't seen this
person commit to rights reforms, we've seen this person oversee a massive campaign that's
been marred by numerous abuses, and we've seen the new U.S. administration, Donald Trump,
court this young prince and say, in his first trip abroad, that he's going to go to Riyadh
and he's going to sell the Saudis $110 billion worth of arms—so I think the question now
becomes: With this new power, is Mohammed bin Salman going to take the step forward
and say, "OK, now I'm going to push rights reforms," or are we going to see more of this
reckless and sort of dangerous and very destructive policies that we've been seeing out of Saudi?
AMY GOODMAN: And the crown prince he replaced, his cousin, the king's nephew?
KRISTINE BECKERLE: Yeah.
Muhammad bin Nayef also was implicated in many abuses, because he oversaw the Interior
Ministry.
So, Saudi's Interior Ministry has been, for a long time, sort of a centerpiece of,
you know, prosecutions of dissidents, prosecutions of women's rights activists, all of these
sorts of things, abuse in detention facilities.
So, the idea—the hope would be that with the replacement of Muhammad bin Nayef and
the new Interior Ministry, Saudi would take it as an opportunity to push reforms.
But the question is: Is Mohammed bin Salman, again, a man we have not seen commit to human
rights reforms and the reforms needed in Yemen or at home, going to do those things?
AMY GOODMAN: And talk about what's happening in Yemen right now and the significance of
this arms deal that President Trump made with Saudi Arabia—again, Saudi Arabia, the first
foreign country that he visited as president of the United States.
KRISTINE BECKERLE: Yeah, so I think—I mean, one of the reasons why we at Human Rights
Watch, other human rights groups talk about arms deals is not simply because of the fact
of the arms deals, but the signal it ends.
So, the—Donald Trump going to Riyadh on his first trip abroad as president, saying
in a speech that he praises Saudi Arabia's strong action in Yemen, not mentioning human
rights concerns, and then saying, "By the way, here's another $110 billion worth of
arms," sends a pretty clear message that "It's OK.
Keep doing what you're doing.
Keep carrying out war crimes.
Keep devastating the Yemeni civilian population.
And we'll still give you weapons."
And the reason that's significant is not only because the U.S. should care about the
ways in which its weapons are being used in Yemen, but also because it exposes the U.S.
and U.S. officials to legal liability for aiding and abetting coalition war crimes in
Yemen.
So Human Rights Watch has already found remnants of a weapon produced seven months after the
start of the war, after violations were clear, at the site of an apparently unlawful attack
in Yemen that killed over 30 civilians.
And now we're saying, "Don't worry.
Here are some more weapons that you might be able to use in the war in Yemen."
And that's significant both for the Yemeni civilian population and for U.S. officials
who are exposing themselves to potential legal liability.

From War to Cholera, Yemen Is Facing World's Largest Humanitarian Crisis - Duration: 4:18.
AMY GOODMAN: So, talk about what is happening right now in Yemen, how devastating the situation
is.
KRISTINE BECKERLE: It's hard to describe in words how devastating it is, to be totally
frank.
So what you've got is what the U.N. describes as the world's largest humanitarian crisis.
And that means thousands upon thousands of cases of cholera, famine for millions across
the country, and, on top of that, you've got parties at war who have been fighting
for now more than two-and-a-half years, who seem to have no regard for the ways in which
that war is affecting the civilian population.
Human Rights Watch has documented over 80 apparently unlawful coalition attacks in Yemen
that have hit schools, markets, homes, hospitals.
Last Sunday, we heard new reports about them hitting a market, killing around 20 people.
And this is—what we've seen is these attacks continuing and there being very little response
in terms of the international community pushing for either the attacks to stop or accountability
for the attacks that have already occurred.
AMY GOODMAN: I want to turn to the U.N. emergency relief coordinator, Stephen O'Brien, addressing
the U.N. Security Council late last month.
STEPHEN O'BRIEN: Yemen now has the ignominy of being the world's largest food security
crisis, with more than 17 million people who are food-insecure, 6.8 million of whom are
one step away from famine.
Crisis is not coming.
It is not even looming.
It is here today, on our watch, and ordinary people are paying the price.
... It is important to bear in mind that malnutrition and cholera are interconnected.
Weakened and hungry people are more likely to contract cholera and less able to survive
it.
According to estimates, 150,000 cases are projected for the next six months, in addition
to the broadly 60,000 current suspected cases since last April with 500 associated deaths.
The scale of this latest outbreak is, as well as being depressingly predictable, a direct
consequence of the conflict.
And had the parties to the conflict cared, the outbreak was avoidable.
AMY GOODMAN: This is U.N. Emergency Relief Coordinator Stephen O'Brien addressing the
U.N. Security Council.
I want to ask you, Kristine Beckerle, about Human Rights Watch's call for an arms embargo
on Yemen.
KRISTINE BECKERLE: So, we've been calling for an arms embargo on Saudi Arabia, in particular,
given the sort of strength of the evidence that has mounted against Saudi Arabia, in
particular, as the leader of the coalition, in terms of carrying out war crimes and violations
of the laws of war in Yemen.
Others have echoed that call—Amnesty, many other NGOs.
And what's amazing is, last—just recently, 47 senators in the U.S. tried to block an
arms sale to Saudi Arabia.
So you're seeing governments across the globe, basically—because, in the U.K., arms
sales also are subject to judicial review.
The Netherlands has imposed a presumption of denial on arms sales to Saudi Arabia.
So you're seeing countries really take steps.
But it's not enough, because, in the end, the U.S. arms sale is going forward.
In the end, Donald Trump went to Riyadh and said, "Here's $110 billion in arms."
In the end, the U.S. is still providing significant support to the coalition, that is carrying
out these attacks in Yemen, and, as we just heard in terms of the humanitarian crisis,
also blocking, impeding and delaying the flow of aid into a country that, again, is facing
famine and cholera.
AMY GOODMAN: And the major winners here—since Trump talks about winners and losers—the
weapons manufacturers here in the United States?
KRISTINE BECKERLE: Basically, right?
So, it's one of those things where you're seeing, in a very gross way, the prioritization
of profit over civilian lives.
And it's sort of—at what point do you sort of take the step and say it's not worth
it to sell another weapons deal, when it not only means that, first, the message you're
sending to Yemeni civilians is that you don't care, and, second, that what you're saying
to U.S. officials who are involved in these deals, that "Don't worry.
Just take the risk of potential legal liability and move forward, and things will be fine"?
And I think that that's quite problematic, again, because this isn't a new war.
These allegations aren't hidden or secret.
Nothing is unknown.
So the U.S. and other arms manufacturers and arms sellers can't say they don't know.
So the question is: OK, now you know; when are you actually going to take the action
you need to take?

3 Must-Have HOMESTEAD Clothing Essentials! - Duration: 7:26.
Hey it's Jaime from Guildbrook Farm and today I'm going to tell you my top three farm
clothes that I think are essential to every homestead. Alright let's get
started. I thought about this for a while, if somebody was getting into
homesteading I wanted to come up with a list of the top three clothing items
that I think every homesteader should own. Three things that I think are
extremely important to having a homestead and to working on a homestead and we are
going to run through them and I'm going to tell you why for each one. All right
you ready? Number one: Gloves. You're going to find
yourself in all kinds of icky situations touching things that you
don't want to touch with your bare hands. If you have animals, you might find
yourself mucking out poop and you're not going to want to touch that with your
fingers. Trust me on that one. It stinks. If you're working in the
garden you are going to be picking bugs. That is your business. A gardener is
going to be picking bugs and slugs and guess what guys... You're going to be
squishing them, and that's just absolutely disgusting.
So yes, gloves are going to help with that. On top of that you might find
yourself picking up debris from the yard and dragging that over to a brush
pile or something like that. You don't want to cut your hands on that kind of
stuff. Some of this bark can be kind of heavy, so having gloves protects your
hands. And last but not least, depending on where you are, at least here, we have
tons of poison ivy. You might be grabbing some sort of poisonous plant or if you
have spiky amaranth like we do here you're not going to want to grab that
with your bare hands guys. You're going to want to grab it with a pair of gloves. I
think the number one thing that every homesteader ought to have, is gloves. Now the
kind that I have... cheap sock gloves covered in latex. We had one subscriber
that actually recommended these to us after one of our February gardening
videos where I was complaining about how my really expensive gloves kept blowing
out in the fingers. These things are about a dollar per pair. We bought them
on Amazon for like 12 bucks for a pack of 12 or something like that. I'll leave
the link down in the description. And these guys are totally worth it. I use
them everyday for all kinds of stuff. So number one? Gloves.
Clothing item number two: Rain Poncho. I'm not talking a rain jacket. A rain jacket is
only going to come to your waist and you're going to have sideways rain that's
blowin into your boots. Guys, you need a full on poncho that's going to cover you
all the way down to the tops of your boots. So on a homestead you guys are
going to have to take care of your animals and everything else in any kind
of weather, and a poncho is what you need when you got torrential rain that's
pouring in and you got to go out and water the animals. You got to go feed
your animals. You got to go out and check on something in the garden, maybe. Who
knows what you got going on. Maybe you're going out to gather wood. So
definitely get yourself a poncho. Now don't go cheap on Poncho's guys. You
don't want to go get one of those disposable garbage bag ones that you can
get at an amusement park. You want to go get yourself a real decent poncho. If you
guys have access to an army-navy store, that's the way to go. I got this one off
Amazon. It has a cool benefit of somehow turning into a tent so if I get lost
between say the barn and my house, I can make camp. And last but not least... Number three:
Mucking boots. I know it's totally sexy with the shorts, right? I personally find
this the most important of all of the clothing that you should have on the homestead.
A really good pair of boots and ideally they should be waterproof and
they should be at least knee high. Now the reason for this is if you have animals
you're going to find yourself mucking out stalls, stepping through poop, draggin out
poop, draggin out mud, all that kind of stuff. You're not going to want those on
your good sneakers because it's going to go with you everywhere. Mud. No matter
where you are you're going to be walking through mud. You're going to be hauling
stuff through mud. You're going to be in your garden in mud, and you're going to
want to have some nice boots that are comfortable, that's going to keep the mud
off your feet and keep your feet dry. Waterproof is key with this one. And
snakes. High grass. If you find yourself in an area with weeds, grass,
definitely having a high pair of good boots is going to prevent snakebite. Those
snakes can strike pretty high and having on a good pair of boots can help
prevent you from getting any kind of snakebite. So the brand I wear is Bogs,
and I personally really love this brand. I think they're extremely comfortable.
They're waterproof, they have really cool handles for pulling on the boots, really
easy to slip on and slip off. Anytime I come outside I'm just throwing them on,
obviously with whatever I have on, and do my chores and kick them off at the door
to go back in. Now full disclosure, I need to say that after having these for about
14 months, the rubber on the boots started to crack and dry rot. Rubber
started pulling away from the side. So I complained to the company and
they sent me a completely new pair for free. Now to me that speaks quality. Any
company that's willing to back their product like that is good
in my eyes and I'll definitely deal with them in the future because of the way that
they back their product. Now these are Marina's. Marina's are a lot lower and
they're more of the stylish version of Bogs. The Bogs that I have are made for
dairy farmers who are working in the dairy, so commercial dairies are where
Bogs originated, and that's the type of Bogs that I have. What Marina's
are, are more of a designer Bog and to be quite honest they're uncomfortable
as heck. at least I think so. I think they're really narrow and just
uncomfortable. So just keep that in mind. These might not fit the same as my pair
but these are significantly cheaper than my pair. Another brand that a lot of
other people like to use are the ones that ilaria likes to wear. So these are iLaria's
boots and these are Sloggers. Now you might see a lot of other channels
that really like the Sloggers brand on there.
They're really cute. They're a lot lower than mine. iLaria likes them because of
the derpy cows on them. They come in a lot of fun designs. They're not quite as
functional as the Bogs, not quite as comfortable as the Bogs, but they are
significantly cheaper than the Bogs. So these are another option if this is
something that you want to get into or something you want to purchase. Alright
so there you go guys. These are my top 3 farm clothes that I think are
essentially to every homestead. If you guys are homesteaders, I would love to know
your thoughts on this. Do you agree with me do you disagree with me? Leave your
comments down below, I'd love to hear from you guys. If you guys like this kind
of stuff, "Like", Subscribe, make sure you hit the bell so you're notified every
time we put out a new video, and we'll see you in the next video. Thanks for
watching guys. I'm gonna go make a tent out of this now.
Seriously it has been the rainiest spring we have ever had, and the entire
week that we're supposed to shoot this video it's calling for rain, and it
doesn't.
I got hosed Tommy.

Top 10 Fascinating FACTS About the MARS Candy Company - Duration: 12:31.
Top 10 Fascinating FACTS About the MARS Candy Company
10.
The Milky Way in the US is the Mars Bar in the United Kingdom
Those who live in the United States are very familiar with a candy bar known as the Milky
Way.
It is made up of nougat and caramel coated in chocolate and is incredibly delicious.
The name is actually inspired by the fact that the creator was trying to mimic the popular
malted milkshakes of the day, and not really inspired by our galaxy as some imagine.
Many of us who love this candy bar may take it for granted when traveling, only to find
that it doesn't exist in quite the same form in other parts of the world.
In the United Kingdom and almost everywhere else it is sold besides the USA, there is
a very similar bar – although not made with the exact same ingredients – known as the
Mars Bar, that replaces the traditional Milky Way in those regions.
To make matters more confusing, you may actually see a candy bar called the Milky Way when
traveling abroad, but that version of the Milky Way is actually the European version
of our current 3 Musketeers bar.
And yes, all of these are produced, sold and marketed by the Mars Candy Company.
9.
The 3 Musketeers Has its Name Because it was Once Three Flavors Packaged Together
Many people have wondered why in the world the 3 Musketeers bar has the name that it
does.
It is a chocolate bar filled with a nougat fairly similar to that in a Milky Way, except
airier and fluffier.
It enjoys a certain strong popularity of its own in the United States, but that doesn't
bring most people any closer to an explanation.
Most people cannot be blamed for not knowing either – the package no longer has any three
musketeers on the logo, and it has been a very long time since the product namesake
made since.
The reason it has its name is because originally, the candy bar was packaged to share with three
separate pieces, and each piece was a different flavor – chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.
Not long ago some of you may remember the Mars Company releasing a set of promotional
mini 3 Musketeers candies with the flavors of Cappuccino, French Vanilla, and Strawberry,
as a throwback to their roots.
It would certainly be interesting if they brought back the original 3 Musketeers with
all three bars wrapped in the same package, it would probably be a huge hit.
8.
The Mars Company Also Owns Pet Food Brands Pedigree And Whiskas
When most people think of a candy company pet food is not something that immediately
jumps to mind.
However, the Mars Company has owned several pet food brands for many years now, including
the well known Pedigree dog food brand and Whiskas cat food brand.
Some might imagine that this was simply part of some strategic acquisition or deal, but
Mars is very serious about their pet food business and has been going to great lengths
to increase their market share and dominance in that sector.
Just a few years ago in 2014 Mars coughed up almost three billion in cash to Proctor
and Gamble to buy up most of their existing pet food business, which includes the brands
Iams, Natura and Eukanuba.
The president of their petcare division was excited about the deal and had this to say
"the deal reinforces our leadership in pet nutrition and veterinary science".
We are not saying the Mars Company doesn't own good pet food brands, but we don't think
what most people know Mars for is pet food.
Most people aren't even aware they own pet food brands at all and know them mainly for
their popular candy products such as M&M's or Snickers.
7.
During WW2 M&M's Were Only For Soldier Rations
M&M's have a very fascinating history indeed that is steeped in the lore of wartime.
It is said that originally Forrest Mars Sr. had witnessed troops in the Spanish Civil
War eating chocolate that was encased in a hard candy shell.
He noticed that the chocolate was managing to avoid entirely melting in the hot temperatures,
and he decided he wanted to perfect the idea into a perfect candy.
He approached a man named Murrie who worked as an executive for Hershey's and struck
up a partnership – incidentally their two names are what the two M's stand for.
With World War II starting Mars saw an opportunity and started selling the candy exclusively
for use in soldier rations for the duration of the war.
The troops found it very convenient as it was easily packaged in small tubes, and didn't
melt easily in the heat, making it easy to preserve and transport in the thick of troop
movements.
Eventually the war ended and all the veterans were already big fans of the product.
With chocolate no longer being rationed and the veterans introducing it to their family
and friends, M&M's became the runaway success that they are known for today.
6.
The Snickers Bar Was Actually Named After a Horse
The Snickers bar is easily the most iconic candy in the United States of America.
No one really needs an introduction to this perfect candy bar.
Not only great tasting, but filling enough and with real peanuts which could make it
feel more like a real snack.
It has enjoyed incredible popularity in the United States since its inception, but most
people never stop to think where the name comes from.
Many candy bars have rather odd fanciful names that we never take the time to stop and think
about.
Probably in the case of the Snickers we don't think about it too much because it sounds
rather strange and doesn't seem like it has much to do with the candy at all.
The reason for this is because the Snickers was named after the Mars families' favorite
horse at the time, and they thought it would be fun to name the candy bar after him.
There really is nothing connecting the candy and the horse besides a flight of whimsy.
Strangely though, the name was once again different when it was marketed in the United
Kingdom, where it was originally known as the Marathon Bar and enjoyed popularity at
the top spot for many years.
However, for continuity sake Mars changed the name worldwide to the Snickers Bar and
the sales in the UK dropped significantly.
Generally consumers don't take well to a products name being changed out of the blue
after so many years.
5.
Mars Got Into a Dustup With Vegetarians in the United Kingdom
Back in 2007 vegetarians got angry over a very small amount of potential animal rennet
in their confections.
Mars had told the public that they were switching from a form of whey that came from microorganisms
to a form of whey that comes from rennet – an animal byproduct taken from the stomach of
calves.
After a week of criticism Mars agreed to back down on using it in some of their products,
but was also unwilling to pull it from all of their products entirely.
This left many people who were following a strict vegetarian lifestyle angry with the
company.
They felt that Mars was not entirely backing down, and also that there was still confusion
over what did and not did include animal rennet.
The reason for this is that there was no recall, as too many products had already gone out
and there wasn't any health risk with them – most people, even vegetarians, will not
freak out about a small amount of potential animal byproduct in an already unhealthy candy
bar.
So many vegetarians complained that even though the company was leaving a few product lines
without the whey with animal rennet, that there was no way to know for quite some time
if they might be eating one of the vegetarian unsuitable versions that had already shipped
out.
Mars argued in return that their hadn't been any boycott or noticeable effect on their
sales, and that they were already bending over backward to please a small minority.
4.
Mars Owns Uncle Ben's Rice and Has Tried to Smooth Over the Controversially Racial
Roots
Another brand many may be surprised to know is owned by Mars is the Uncle Ben's instant
rice company.
An incredibly famous product ubiquitous in grocery stores around the United States and
likely other parts of the world as well.
Everyone knows the image and many of us feel a little strange knowing the likely origin
of the image.
Similar to Aunt Jemima's pancake syrup brand, it pictures an African American in a role
that depicts them as a servant preparing food for white people.
The clothes worn by both of them and the title used, as well as the lack of a last name,
tends to give a lot of people misgivings and wonder about what the creators were thinking
when the brand was first designed.
When Mars acquired Uncle Ben's rice not that many years ago they decided that they
wanted to try to change the image to uplift the brand from its controversially racial
origins.
They put together a marketing campaign where Uncle Ben was depicted as the chairman of
the board of his company, in a fancy office overseeing all decisions regarding the product.
The advertising campaign depicted him as a wise leader who always knows best, while still
leaving him with the bow tie he was known for.
The reactions from many African Americans were mixed.
Some people felt that it was a good step that helped rehabilitate the image of the brand,
but others said it felt like it was glossing over the past and trying to hold onto something
they would prefer to go away.
To Mars credit, most people seemed to feel that an honest effort was being made to overcome
the racially charged past of the brand.
3.
The Reese's Pieces in E.T.
Were Supposed to be M&M's, but the Mars Company Declined
E.T. is an iconic movie, and once of the most well known scenes, as well as the most famous
product placements ever in movies, was the scene with the Reese's pieces.
We all know it well, and someone at Hershey's is probably still gloating over the acquisition
of a lifetime.
See, the original candy intended to be used in the film were M&M's and Mars was approached
about doing a tie-in deal with the movie.
In a move that someone may still be kicking themselves for, the Mars Company declined
to have M&M's in the movie or do any kind of marketing deal.
Some people claim that the executive who made the decision didn't want their product in
a movie with a strange alien being, others say that they simply didn't think the movie
was going to be successful and didn't want to tie their brand to it.
Whatever the reason, the Mars Company declined, and the filmmakers were stuck looking for
an alternative.
Realizing there was a similar, but not as popular candy made by Hershey's, they struck
up a deal to use Reese's Pieces instead.
The movie was successful beyond anyone's wildest dreams, Hershey's was able to use
E.T. in their advertising to create a very successful association in the minds of consumers
and sales of Reese's Pieces shot up by a huge margin, gaining a strong share in the
market that they had never had before.
2.
Mars Has Been Criticized in the Past For Their Chocolate Buying Practices
Mars and all the other major chocolate giants have a huge problem that is hard to ignore
– the fact that their chocolate, and essentially all chocolate, comes from countries where
child labor, abuse and oftentimes what amounts to outright slavery are incredibly common.
This has been the subject of many documentaries and lawmakers have tried to force the chocolate
industry into self-policing and helping to end the child labor practices.
After all, the chocolate industry is so rich it dwarfs the economies of the countries it
buys chocolate from, so the power is mainly in their hands.
Many of the chocolate makers have pledged to try to end child labor, but the goalposts
keep shifting.
For many people the major chocolate makers such as Mars, Nestle, and Hershey's are
not doing nearly enough to deal with the issue.
One of the original deadlines to majorly curb child labor was back in 2005, but the deadline
was then extended to 2008 and then 2010.
When 2010 came around the major manufacturers of chocolate candy made a new pledge to reduce
child labor in the Ivory Coast by 70% by 2020.
Not only is that another ten years away, but that isn't even three quarters of the child
labor reduced.
It would seem that companies that have more money than the economies they are buying from
could do more to prevent child labor and exploitation if they really wanted to.

Mars and Other Companies Have Moved Recently to Remove Artificial Dyes From Their Products
Recently many companies in the food industry have moved to start removing artificial dyes.
One of the most famous examples is the move by Kraft to use only natural coloring in their
famous instant macaroni and cheese products.
What may be more surprising is that candy companies are starting to follow suit, despite
not being generally known for trying to appeal to the health conscious.
This shows that consumers today are increasingly concerned about artificial ingredients, even
when indulging in less than healthy snacks.
Mars specifically made the news in 2016 when they promised to remove all artificial dyes
from their human products and move to natural options.
They did add the caveat that this will not happen right away.
They expect to finish removing all artificial dyes in five years, but they are still looking
for some of the best natural alternatives and it will take time to cycle old inventory
out and bring in the new.
This includes any Wrigley products such as Starburst and any other food lines, but does
not include pet products at this time.
While this may not seem huge, moving toward natural dyes can only be a good thing.
More and more studies seem to suggest that many artificial dyes are dubious in terms
of whether they are truly safe to be consuming on any kind of regular basis.
A natural alternative that is proven safe would make people feel better about what they
are eating in a world with increasingly processed foods and ingredients.

Jeep Wrangler Body Armor 4x4 GEN 3 Trail Doors (2007-2017 JK) Review & Install - Duration: 7:58.
I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com and this is my review and installation of the Body
Armor 4x4 GEN 3 Trail Doors, fitting all 2007 and up JKs.
Today we're gonna talk through the installation of these doors, which is a very one out of
three wrenches.
These will install on your Jeep in under an hour, and that's even with having to set up
and make all of your adjustments.
After you take these off and put them back on the second time, it's going to be even
faster for you.
But we'll talk more about the install in just a second.
We're also gonna talk through the construction and a few of the other features of these doors.
Tube doors are for those of you who want to be able to enjoy the open-air driving experience
of taking the doors off your JK and going for a ride, however, you want a little bit
more of that secure feeling you get from having a door.
You want to have something to brace yourself against when you're off road in those off
camera situations.
Or maybe you have pets or children in your Jeep that you want to make sure stay in your
Jeep.
And that is really where a tube door comes into play.
Now, these ones from Body Armor are a really well-built door, however, they don't have
some of the features that are included with other tube doors.
These ones are not going to have a locking latch, and they're not going to accept a factory
mirror.
However, these do come with this nylon webbing that has a bit of an arm pad built into the
top of it, and that's something that some of the other options on the market don't have.
So it really comes down to which features are most important to you, and which doors
you like the best.
As it says right in the name, this is the third generation of Trail Doors by Body Armor
4x4, and that is absolutely a good thing.
Every time they come out with a new generation, they've made improvements that make these
doors even better.
Now, some of the complaints that people have with a Trail Door is that they don't fit quite
right or that they rattle.
And the reason that they don't fit quite right, most of the time, is that they'll have the
door hinge pin welded right onto the door.
So if the heat from the weld makes that move a little bit or if the jig isn't quite right,
those pins aren't going to align just right with the factory door hinges on your JK.
A reason that some of these can rattle is because of the latching mechanism and how
that attaches, and Body Armor has really taken into account a lot of those issues with this
door.
The hinges, instead of being welded directly onto the door, they bolt in place.
And there is some adjustability there, allowing you to really fine tune and make sure that
the door fits really well.
The latch is similar.
As you can see, there are a couple of oblong holes here, and that latch is going to move
so you can make sure that you can get it adjusted and get it so it attaches just right onto
the Jeep.
Now, as I said before, a couple of things that these doors don't have that some of the
other doors on the market have that I like.
One of those things is a locking latch.
Now, you might be thinking, it's a tube door.
If somebody wants to get into my Jeep, they're going to get in.
Well, the locking latch isn't so much to keep people out as it is to keep someone from walking
away with your doors.
Most of us, when we're running a tube door, will just drop it in the hinges and not use
any sort of retention nut.
So if that's the case, someone can just reach in, unlatch the door, open it slightly, pull
it off the hinges, and walk away with it.
A locking latch will take care of that for you.
Of course, with this door that doesn't have a locking latch, you can use your retention
nuts or even a locking nut to make sure that somebody doesn't walk away with your doors,
but that's one extra time every time you install and uninstall the doors.
Now, another thing that this door doesn't have is the ability to accept a factory JK
mirror.
This is predrilled for a Body Armor mirror that looks very similar to a factory TJ mirror,
however, it's not going to accept your JK mirror.
So what you can do is relocate that factory JK mirror to the A-pillar permanently and
not utilize these holes, or you can purchase the Body Armor mirrors that are designed to
go with this door.
However, that is going to be a little bit of a drawback for some of you that would rather
just remove your factory mirrors off of your factory doors and attach them to your tube
doors when you have them installed.
Now, this door does have some things that a lot of other ones don't have.
There are some doors on the market that have a webbing material that you can purchase.
This one actually comes with it.
And this is going to give you a little bit more of that secure feeling, again, especially
if you have pets or if you have children riding in the Jeep with you, having this netting
is going to be really nice.
The Generation 3 door like this here has a much stronger webbing and much stronger netting.
It has a built-in armrest pad up on the top here.
It has some additional Velcro pieces here to keep the door from flapping.
They really have redesigned this and made it better with every generation, and this
is the best Trail Door that Body Armor 4x4 has put out to date.
As I said before, this is a very simple one out of three wrench install.
And the first time you install these, you might be at right around an hour by the time
you get your latches and your door hinge pins adjusted properly, but that's really only
something you have to do once.
The next time it's going to be much, much quicker to drop your doors in place.
Now, the first step in this install is, of course, removing your factory doors, which
you'll do by unclipping the wiring harness and the limit straps, removing the retention
nuts if you have them, and then simply lifting the door off and setting it somewhere safe.
After that, you can loosely install your door hinge pins on your new door, as well as loosely
installing the striker.
Make sure everything is lined up, tighten down the bolts on the hinge pins, adjust the
striker so that it meshes up perfectly with that factory strike pin on the tub of your
JK, and then tighten down that hardware.
Afterward or before, you can go ahead and attach the webbing.
It doesn't much matter whether you do it off the Jeep or on the Jeep, but remember to attach
these two Velcro pieces here that are new for the GEN 3 that are gonna keep the door
from flapping when you're at highway speed.
And that's really it.
As I said, the next time you're just gonna lift the door off, put your factory ones back
on.
And to get this in place the next time, just drop it on the hinge pins.
Everything will be aligned properly.
You just close the doors and go.
These doors do come in at around $420 a pair, so if you're buying all four for your four
door, you are going to be at a little over $900.
Now, you know that these doors are going to fit on your Jeep because they have the adjustable
hinges and the adjustable latches.
And these also do come with this nylon webbing which is a really nice feature if you plan
on running it.
However, these do not come with a locking latch or the ability to use your factory JK
mirrors.
So again, it comes down to what features are most important to you.
If you're not interested in running a factory mirror and you're not interested in having
a locking latch, this is going to be a really nice door.
If you want those features, I would recommend taking a look at some of the other options
on the market.
Maybe a Barricade, a Rugged Ridge, or a Smittybilt door.
So whether you're looking to add a set of tube doors onto your JK either because you
like the look, because you like the additional visibility that they give you so you can really
see your line when you're driving down the trail, or because you like the open-air driving
experience of not having doors on your JK but you want a little bit more security, this
is going to be an option that will fit well and is moderately priced.
So that's my review of the Body Armor 4x4 GEN 3 Trail Doors fitting all 2007 and up
JKs that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.
