The Wild Story About What Happened to Evander Holyfield's Ear After Mike Tyson Bit It Off - Duration: 3:20.
What's up, guys?
Pierce Simpson here for Complex News.
It's been exactly 20 years since Mike Tyson bit off a piece of Evander Holyfield's ear
during one of the craziest boxing matches of all time.
Since then, there have been numerous books and documentaries done on the now-infamous
"Bite Fight" that have covered just about every single aspect of the bout.
But there is still one big question that remains after all these years: What ever happened
to the piece of Holyfield's ear that Tyson bit off and spit on the ground?
Most people think Holyfield was able to have that piece of his ear reattached surgically
following the fight.
Tyson was disqualified shortly after he tried to bite Holyfield for a second time at the
end of the third round, which allowed for Holyfield to exit the MGM Grand Garden Arena
in Las Vegas a short time later so that he could pay a visit to the nearby Valley Hospital
Medical Center for treatment.
But according to several people who spoke with Complex about the anniversary of the
fight, there's more to the story than that.
Mitch Libonati, a member of the MGM Grand's boxing staff, was working the Tyson/Holyfield
fight that night.
It was his job to maintain the ring in between bouts and to wipe up any excess water and
blood.
But on that particular night, he would also end up being in charge of trying to locate
the piece of Holyfield's ear that Tyson bit off at the end of the fight.
Following Tyson's disqualification, mayhem broke out in the ring, but that didn't stop
Libonati from making his way into it to track down the piece of Holyfield's ear.
"I knew it was there.
And then we had the chaos and all the people fighting in the ring and I remember thinking,
'That thing ain't going to be there.
It's gone.'
But once I got into the ring after the melee, I was like, 'Holy crap, it's right there!'
It was right below my feet."
Libonati picked up the hunk of flesh and wrapped it inside a latex glove.
He put the glove in an ice bucket, brought it to Holyfield's dressing room, and passed
it off to someone on his team.
That person then brought the piece of Holyfield's ear to the hospital and passed it off to a
plastic surgeon named Dr. Julio Garcia, who had plenty of experience with stitching professional
boxers up after fights.
But that's where things got confusing.
Shortly after he was handed Holyfield's ear, Dr. Garcia went into another room to
change into his scrubs so that he could reattach the ear.
But when he returned, the piece of skin that he had been given was missing.
It's unclear if someone stole the skin or if it was accidentally thrown out.
But either way, Dr. Garcia told Complex he was forced to move on to Plan B.
"I had the small piece of skin in the bucket, but when I went to change into my scrubs and
came back, it had vanished.
Just disappeared.
I never did find out what happened to it.
So I just took a little flap of skin from the back of his ear and folded it over to
close the wound."
Dr. Garcia told Complex that even if he did have the skin, it probably wouldn't have
made much of a difference.
It likely would have been impossible for him to reattach Holyfield's ear at that point
anyway because there was also a key piece of cartilage missing from the ear.
"The bite went through and through, and when it ripped off his ear, the skin that
encased the cartilage totally separated from the cartilage.
It was like they had peeled a banana.
And without that piece of cartilage, there really wasn't much I could do."
The cartilage was found later in the ring back at the MGM Grand.
But it had been trampled on by all of the people who made their way into the ring after
the fight, so Dr. Garcia wasn't able to use it.
It's why Holyfield still has a portion of his ear missing.
Despite what happened between him and Tyson, Holyfield told Complex he has forgiven him
for what took place.
Tyson never gave him any sort of official apology, but Holyfield forgave him anyway
and even told us that, deep down, he understood why Tyson did what he did.
"The Bible says everybody got a bad spot.
And one of the biggest reasons why it was easy for me to forgive him is because I used
to bite my brothers all the time.
They were older and bigger than me and when they would put me in a headlock I would bite
them to get out."
Holyfield may have forgiven Tyson, but it's unlikely he'll ever forget what took place
20 years ago.
He's reminded of it every time he looks in the mirror.
And just like everyone else, he's left to wonder what in the world happened to his ear
after Tyson bit it off.
Unfortunately, it's a question that, at this point, is probably never going to be
answered.

Carmelo Anthony Chose His Life of L's - Duration: 4:16.
Hey everyone, for Complex News, I'm Justin Block.
And let's not get this twisted: Carmelo Anthony deserves better than what the New
York Knicks have given him.
After months of trying to run Melo out of town, Knicks president Phil Jackson has been
fired, but the damage Jackson did during time residing over the Knicks is already done.
Anthony is one of the elite scorers of his generation, and in his prime, was a threat
to win a scoring title every season.
But at age 33, those days are past him.
It's a shame, because he's given his best years—including an MVP-worthy 2012 campaign—of
his career to the Knicks.
And for what?
A staggering 268 losses and five head coaches over six full seasons, a franchise worst 65
loss season, and now four consecutive years without a playoff appearance.
Whether it's the roster around him, his coaches, or management, he's never seen
stability as a Knick.
You can rag on him for his washy defense, or a perceived the lack of locker room command
in the midst of the Knicks' organizational chaos.
He's still played his part as their leading man though, and was simply never surrounded
by a team worthy of a real championship challenge.
It's safe to say that this isn't how Melo envisioned his career playing out when he
came to New York as a 26-year-old ready to win a title for the city he was born in.
He's even admitted as much, saying to the New York Daily News in March 2016:
"I do look at my peers and say, 'Damn, what am I doing wrong?
I should be there.'"
And by peers, he means his friends in LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Paul—three
players who have consistently racked up wins and playoff triumphs, and also have five championship
rings between them.
Melo's never been able to see a team through to any those heights.
But, Melo's controlled what he can in an environment designed to limit player power—it
just so happens that his moves have backfired.
Melo's career, as it currently stands, is a Hall of Fame-worthy statsheet, but one that
could be much more.
Along the way though, Melo made some key mistakes, and essentially made the bed he's currently
wasting away in.
It starts with the trade that got Melo to the Knicks in the first place.
In 2011 with his free agency fast approaching, he refused to sign a 3-year, $65 million contract
extension with the Denver Nuggets, because he wanted a move to a larger market—ideally
the Knicks.
But Melo wanted his cake and eat it too.
He could've simply signed with the Knicks over the Nuggets as a free agent that summer,
but at a $20 million difference, because of the league's collective bargaining rules.
And best believe, Melo wanted his money.
And honestly, he'd earned the right to the kind of power move we see superstars like
LeBron make every other season.
So, a Knicks-Nuggets trade before Melo's free agency solved that problem.
The Knicks emptied the shed and pulled the trigger on a trade for Melo, who got his max
money from the Knicks.
But the trade cost the team four rotation players under 26, three draft picks, and $3
million in cash.
The Knicks got their franchise star in Melo, but the trade left the Knicks' bare of assets,
and limited how good they could make the team around Melo moving forward.
His second mistake was re-signing with the Knicks as a free agent in 2014.
At that point, Melo's Knicks career hadn't hit rock-bottom, but it wasn't looking good
either.
After another disappointing season, Phil Jackson was brought in as team president, and wanted
to totally rebuild the team, even with an aging Melo looking to stick around New York
and chase a championship.
Still, Jackson offered Melo a 5-year, $125 million contract—near the maximum amount
the Knicks could under league rules.
Knicks fans, however, would've forgiven Melo for jumping ship and heading to, say,
a contending team like the Chicago Bulls or Houston Rockets.
Those teams offered Melo $30 million less than the Knicks because of league rules, but
they did offer a chance to compete for a title.
And yet, for the sake of the almighty dollar, and we can't forget this, a family he'd
now settled in New York, Melo took the $125 million.
Again, it's money he rightfully deserved in a capped system that limits his earning
power, but looking back, it was probably the wrong choice.
Melo's Knicks haven't been to the playoffs since.
We've got love and respect for Carmelo Anthony.
He's handled a difficult situation with the Knicks with incredible grace and restraint.
He's been the adult in the room while the Knicks have acted like children.
But that doesn't mean he hasn't made his own mistakes along the way.
And in the end, giving his career over to the most dysfunctional franchise in the NBA
was the biggest one.

movie is something universal that most single parents have to face day to day.
The film catches up with the adopted kids from part 1 and it shows how the single parent
is adjusting to parenthood.
The dad is a popular TV actor who gained recognition after his role in a funny American sitcom
based on a British comedy.
In this movie, the dad is slowly starting to realize that a single parent household
is no way to raise an adopted child.
A kid needs all the love and affection they can get and unfortunately, the father can
only provide 50% of that.
His child is an extra ordinary kid, exhibiting some of the best super secret ninja skills
since Napoleon Dynamite.
The father spoils 'em to death and gets the kid everything they want.
The kid's room looks like it was expensive to decorate and the rocket themed bed probably
cost more than their living room set.
With no mother in their lives, it gives the dad a good excuse to neglect his children.
He's always super busy.
He mentions he's trying to start a new business which is time consuming (audio).
And the family pet takes up a lot of time too.
When he goes #1 or #2 on the front lawn, that stuff melts grass and he's the one that has to clean it up.
The point is, even though he's juggling all of that, he still finds time to spend
quality time with the little one, like when they're at the BBQ together at the beginning.
It's the little things like this he's not able to add into his dating profile that makes him one in a million.
He still gets his share of panties thrown at him nonetheless.
Being a good father is like a natural aphrodisiac for single ladies.
The ladies in the neighborhood have a crush on the daddy and they even line up at his
doorstep to ask him out on dates.
The main character meets the love of his life, but it isn't love at first sight.
He gets into an accident that causes him to go unconscious.
When he wakes up, that's when he's introduced to his future wife.
The movie gets all lovey dovey after that, but the side character provide a healthy dose
of comic relief.
Some of the side characters includes the yellow lookalikes.
The yellow lookalikes have like two or three funny scenes and the best one is probably
the time they used their special ingredients to try and poison one of the grown ups in
the movie.
Another side character is the fat dude with the taco meat on his chest.
The taco meat man faked his death like Tupac.
He gets blown up and everyone thinks he's dead afterwards, but somehow, he miraculously
survives.
Back to the romance though.
The dad goes on a date with a one of his neighbors to dinner.
The date goes horribly wrong when a third wheel barges in and knocks out one of the
characters on the date.
After that, they all have to ride home three deep and the car ride is awkwardddd.
Out of all the women that have a crush on the dad, there's only one of them that the
kids approve (audio).
The nice lady is the one the kid wants to be the new mommy, but it the dad is the last
one to notice the chemistry.
It's no surprise the father has a Stevie Wonder point of view when it comes to his
love life because he isn't too observant in other areas of the household either.
There's a part in the movie where the family pet is missing and no one notices until the
pet is found days later, and it's too late by that time.
A scientist is running tests on animals and the side effects are scarier than an 80s horror
movie.
As a result, he kidnaps someone close to the family to run more tests on the victim.
Later on, the dad sees a souvenir from their first date (audio).
His emotions are higher than a pothead.
He decides to listen to his heart because he brain doesn't speak english. At the
wedding at the end, the two lovebirds get together and they're all one big happy family.
The biggest lesson though, is that, depending on the GPS you use, anybody could find love
because even though this character has the world's biggest nose (audio).
He or she still got someone to say I do.

The recent termination of former FBI Director James Comey shocked the world.
President Trump was put in a situation where he had to make a call for the greater good
of the country, and he did a fine job.
The Hatch Act is a bill that stops all FBI agents from being involved in partisan elections;
it doesn't matter if you are a Democrat or Republican.
According to Circa, it turns out acting FBI director Andrew McCabe is now under investigation
by the Office of U.S. Special Counsel.
In 2015 McCabe supported his wife Jill in her campaign to run for Virginia State Senate
as a Democrat, but that isn't even the worst part!
In short, footage came forward showing McCabe wearing a shirt supporting Jill.
There were also social media pictures that his wife posted showing Andrew with her.
He was holding a sign that read, "I am voting for Jill because she is the best wife ever."
This constitutes a conflict of interest.
Other photos showed McCabe's daughter campaigning with her mom while Andrew was in the background
voting for his wife.
We are not sure if this photo was taken intentionally or not, but it sure does add to the issue
ESPECIALLY considering Andrew had pictures with signs supporting his wife.
If you look at The Hatch Act, it states, specifically, that FBI employees should not engage with
or "in a political activity in concert with a political party, a candidate for partisan
political office, or a partisan political group."
Andrew McCabe broke the boundaries on this one.
If you want to be in charge of the most powerful criminal investigation unit in the country
you cannot have a political bias.
The bias can cause many problems, just look at Hillary Clinton and James Comey!
Comey was working with Clinton to make sure her investigation was downplayed and then
dropped.
If you think The Hatch Act is silly just remember when Comey came out and said Hillary was off
the hook — when we all know the truth.
One of the most disturbing parts of this story is the Tweet that @Wikileaks put up from The
Gateway Pundit suggesting that a LOT of money from Jill McCabe's campaign came from people
with close ties to The Clinton Foundation.
It makes you wonder how deep this rabbit hole goes.
Something certainly is not sitting well with us here, DOES McCabe have ties to bigwig Democrats?
The Democrats have proven time and time again they are corrupt.
Is it possible that Hillary Clinton was able to get to McCabe through his wife, Jill?
If so, do we have a much bigger problem on our hands than campaigning on social media?
It is great that we HAVE this information because it allows us to get insight into what
might be around the corner.
Everyone got caught with their pants down on the Comey debacle.
Let's do everything that we can to ensure that it doesn't happen AGAIN!

Today we are going to discuss "Contraindications for the Tummy Tuck."
In this channel we discuss everything you need to know to get that star body that you want.

Sometimes it is not enough to just follow a strict diet and exercise regimen to achieve a flat and firm tummy,
especially when you reach a certain age or after multiple pregnancies.
This is why many seek plastic surgery interventions, specifically the tummy tuck to address this problem.
Abdominoplasty is a plastic surgery intervention that enhances the abdominal area.
The procedure not only reshapes the entire abdominal area by removing excess fat, surplus skin,
but it also restructures and re-strengthens the muscles on the abdominal wall
that may have been distended after pregnancy.
However, like all plastic surgery interventions, the tummy tuck is not for everyone.
The following are some of the contraindications of the tummy tuck procedure:
− The patient wants to get pregnant again in the future.
This is a relative contraindication.
If the patient plans on having another baby sooner than a year after the tummy tuck,
they are advised to wait until after childbirth to have the procedure.
Even if the pregnancy occurs more than a year after the surgery, the aesthetic results
can be negatively affected as muscle diastasis can occur again.
− The patient desires to lose more weight after the procedure.
The tummy tuck eliminates the sagginess of the skin on the abdomen that may have been caused
exactly by weight fluctuations in the first place.
If the patient plans on losing more weight, then the procedure should be postponed until
the patient reaches their goal or normal weight.
− The patient has unrealistic expectations from the procedure,
wherein they believe that the tummy tuck will give them the perfect silhouette.
The reality is that a traditional tummy tuck will only give you a firmer abdomen,
and potentially a Spongebob figure.
Thus, it does not drastically affect your overall silhouette.
For this reason, the hourglass tummy tuck using fat transfer to the hips and liposuction
may be the solution for you as it creates an appealing hourglass shape.
− The patient is not willing to accept that there will be scars left after the procedure.
− The patient had a surgical intervention recently in the abdominal area.
− The patient can't give up smoking, not even for a few weeks before and after the procedure.
The tummy tuck is a cosmetic procedure that will excise the surplus skin and fat tissue
that can occur due to several causes.
Keep in mind that the procedure is not recommended for people who are in poor health conditions,
