Emergency SOS on iPhone!
Hello Friends!
Welcome back to AppleFrendly!
Video #53
In my previous video, I showed you how to download videos on iPhone
and today, I'm gonna show you how to set up Emergency SOS on iPhone.
This feature is available to everyone with the release of iOS 11.
So, be sure to give this video a thumbs up if liked it and share it with your friends
and loved ones!
So, without further ado, let's get started!
For all those who don't know about this feature, It basically notifies Emergency services
like Ambulance, Police or Fire-brigade when you press your Sleep/Wake button.
It also notifies your contacts about your current location in case of emergency.
So to activate it, launch Settings.
Scroll down.
Select Emergency SOS.
And the first thing that you need to set up is the number of times you want to press
sleep/wake button to activate Emergency Alert in case of Emergency.
You can choose to click either 3 times.....
or 5 times.
I'll just keep it 3 times.
And the next setting is Auto Call.
Well, If you put this toggle OFF, and press your sleep button 3 times,
it'll not activate the Emergency SOS on its own.
Rather, it'll give you an option to activate it by sliding the bar.
Like you do to Power OFF your iPhone.
Like this!
Just slide this to the right, and it'll activate the Emergency SOS.
It'll call the Emergency services and inform your contacts about your location.
And in another case, when you keep this toggle ON
and when you press the Sleep button 3 times,
it'll activate the Emergency SOS automatically.
There is no sliding bar here.
It'll start the countdown directly.
Like this!
However, you can cancel it by tapping the cross button before this countdown ends.
And when you're actually using the Emergency SOS feature, it'll first call the Emergency Services,
then notify your contacts about your current location
and finally it'll show the Medical ID with Emergency contacts.
So, you must set up emergency contacts in Medical ID.
So, now let's see how to do it.
But before proceeding further, please note that, when you put this Auto Call feature ON,
there is one more setting that is Countdown Sound.
If you keep this ON, it'll play a loud sound during the Emergency SOS countdown.
Basically, this is helpful to let you know if you've activated the Emergency SOS on iPhone, accidentally
and you can cancel it before giving some fake calls to Emergency Services.
I'll recommend to keep it ON.
It sometimes helps!
So, now moving ahead, next and the final setting is setting up Emergency Contacts in Health App.
And to do that,
just tap this setting here,
it'll open up the Health App.
Now tap this Edit button at the top right hand corner.
Scroll down.
And select this 'Add Emergency SOS Contact' Button.
It opens up your contacts, select the contact whom you want to inform in case of emergency.
Now it prompts to set the relationship with the contact.
I'll select brother for a demo purpose.
Similarly, you can add few more contacts, if you want to.
And when you're done, hit this 'Done' button at the top right hand corner.
Now when you go back to your Settings of Emergency SOS, you should see your Emergency Contacts.
So now, you just have to press your Sleep/wake button 3 times to activate Emergency SOS
and inform your Emergency Contacts of your current location.
So, I hope this video helps.
If you found it useful, share it with your friends and loved ones!
