CINDY: A GOOD WEDNESDAY TO YOU.
I'M CINDY FITZGIBBON.
WINTER STORM WARNING
WESTERN
MASSACHUSETTS AND NORTHWARD.
PARTS OF VERMONT, NEW HAMPSHIRE,
AND WESTERN MAINE ARE GOING TO
DO VERY WELL WITH THIS STORM.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR MORE THAN A
FOOT OF HEAVY, WET, TASTY SNOW
OF IN THIS AREA.
GOOD NEWS FOR THE SKI AREAS.
A HIGH IMPACT WITH RAIN CLOSER
TO THE COAST LINE AND STRONG
WIND ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE
STORM OVERNIGHT THURSDAY NIGHT
INTO FIRST THING FRIDAY MORNING.
THOSE STRONG WINDS COULD LEAD TO
SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES.
WITH THE WIND SHIFTING QUICKLY
TO THE NORTH AND THE NORTHWEST.
NOT CONCERNED WITH COASTAL
FLOODING WITH THIS PARTICULAR
STORM.
YOU LOOK AT THE MAP.
THIS ENERGY DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A
WHOLE LOT.
IT IS GOING TO SHIFT EASTWARD
AND IT IS GOING TO FORM A
SECONDARY STORM THAT IS GOING TO
BE TRACKING RIGHT OVER CAPE COD.
WE ARE GOING TO BRING IN THAT
AIR OFF THE OCEAN WHERE WATER
TEMPERATURES ARE RUNNING IN THE
MID 40'S.
IT IS GOING TO BE TOUGH TO KEEP
A LOT OF SNOW AROUND.
IN THE INTERIOR, W
WILL SEE THE
HEAVIEST SNOW.
TODAY IS A QUIET DAY.
AN AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE TRYING
TO BUILD IN.
THOSE CLOUDS TO BREAK UP AND WE
WILL SEE PARTIAL SUNSHINE AND
TEMPERATURES SNEAKING UP TO
ABOUT 40 DEGREES IN THE
AFTERNOON.
LOWER 40'S ON THE CAPE.
CLOUDS BEGIN TO INCREASE
TONIGHT, BUT THROUGH TOMORROW
MORNING IT IS DRY.
NO ISSUES WITH THE MORNING
COMMUTE, BUT IT IS A COLD START
TOMORROW.
AS WE THROUGH THE DAY, WE
WILL WATCH THE STORM BEGIN TO
LIFT NORTHWARD WIT RAIN
SPREADING IN NEAR THE COAST
LINE, SNOW OVER THE INTERIOR.
AS THE STORM LIST TO THE NORTH,
THE WIND PICKS UP.
IN TERMS OF SNOWFALL
ACCUMULATION, IT IS GOING TO BE
HEAVY COME A WET, PASTY SNOW
NORTH OF 495.
WE HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR 6-12
INCHES OF SNOW.
A VERY TIGHT GRADIEN BETWEEN
HEAVY SNOW AND SIMPLY RAIN ALONG
THE COAST LINE.
THE COULD BE MAYBE AN INCH OF
SNOW ON THE BACKSIDE.
ONCE YOU GET AWAY FROM THE
COASTLINE THROUGH PARTS OF
METROWEST INTO THE NORTH SHORE,
WE COULD S 1-3 INCHES OF SNOW.
THE RAIN-SNOW LINE IS GOING TO
GO BACK AND FORTH.
IF WE SEE MORE RAIN, WE WILL SEE
LE SNOW ON THE ORDER OF AN
INCH.
LESS RAIN, WE WILL SEE MORE SNOW
ALONG THE ORDER OF AROUND THREE
INCHES.
ALONG THE MERRIMACK VALLEY, WE
ARE BORDERLINE POSSIBLY 3-6
INCHES OF SNOW.
WEST OF THAT, WE GET INTO THE
HEAVIER SNOW.
THE TIMING IS COMING IN MOSTLY
AFTER THAT MORNING COMMUTE.
BY NOON TIME, WE ARE STARTING TO
GET INTO THE SNOW IN THE
CENTRAL-WESTERN PART OF THE
STATE, BUT THERE WILL BE RAIN TO
THE SOUTH.
IT COULD COME DOWN HARD.
THEY COULD BE PONDING OF THE
WATER ON THE ROADS.
AS WE GET DEEPER INTO THE
EVENING, THE RAIN-SNOW LINE
STARTS TO COLLAPSE AND STEP BACK
TOWARD THE COAST.
THERE WILL BE A CHANGEOVER FROM
RAIN TO SNOW WHERE WE COULD SEE
SOME OF THAT ACCUMULATION.
IT IS PULLING AWAY AFTER
MIDNIGHT.
GETTING UP ON FRIDAY, STRONG
WINDS WILL GREET YOU.
COULD BE SOM GUSTS OF 50 MILES
PER HOUR.
THE WIND STAYS WITH US, GUSTING
30-40 MILES PER HOUR THROUGH THE
DAY.
COLDER WEATHER IS TH THEME INTO
NEW YEAR'S WEEKEND.
THERE COULD BE SOME LIGHT SNOW
