>> I'M METEOROLOGIST CINDY
FITZGIBBON, PERFECT TIMING WITH
SCHOOL VACATION.
WE ARE GOING TO DO VERY WELL.
ONE TO TWO FEET OF SNOW,
POSSIBLE IN THE MOUNTAINS OF
WESTERN MAINE AND NEW HAMPSHIRE,
AND EVEN INTO VERMONT, WELL,
WITH THIS SYSTEM, YOU CAN SEE
THAT THERE ARE WINTER STORM
WARNINGS ACROSS A LOT OF CENTRAL
AND NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND, SO IF
YOU ARE GOING TO BE DOING SOME
TRAVELING TODAY KEEP IN MIND,
SNOW IS GOING TO BE COMING DOWN,
REDUCED VISIBILITY AND THE
WARNINGS COME INTO SOUTHERN NEW
ENGLAND BUT IT'S ONLY REALLY FOR
NORTH CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS OUT
INTO THE WESTERN PART OF THE
STATE, AND THAT IS WHERE WE HAVE
THE POTENTIAL FOR MORE THAN SIX
INCHES OF SNOW, SOME IN THE
WORCESTER AREA BUT A LOT OF RAIN
IS GOING TO BE INVOLVED HERE,
INSIDE OF 495, AND THAT IS
REALLY GOING TO KEEP THE SNOW
AMOUNTS ON THE LIGHTER SIDE, AS
IN STORM GETS GOING, IT WILL
FLIP OVER TO RAIN.
IT COULD END AS A PERIOD OF
SNOW.
EVEN A COATING POSSIBLE IN THE
BOSTON AREA.
AS YOU HEAD OUT TO 495 IT'S ONE
TO THREE INCHES OF SNOW, UNTIL
YOU HIT 495, UP THROUGH THE
MERRIMACK VALLEY AND INTO
WORCESTER, THREE TO SIX INCHES
OF SNOW POSSIBLE FOR YOU, AND
THERE IS THE JACKPOT AREA
NORTHERN WORCESTER HILLS,
SOUTHWEST NEW HAMPSHIRE AND BACK
INTO THE BERKSHIRES WHERE WE
COULD SEE SIX TO 12 INCHES OF
SNOW, WE HAVE THE SNOW, HEAVY
RAIN GOING TO CAUSE A LOT OF
PONDING OF THE WATER ON THE
ROADWAYS HERE FOR THE EVENING
COMMUTE, AND STRONG WINDS A
CONCERN WITH THIS STORM AS WELL.
IT'S JUST GETTING ORGANIZED THIS
MORNING.
DOWN HERE TO THE SOUTH AND AS IT
APPROACHES IT WILL BE
STRENGTHENING AND THAT
SOUTHEASTERLY WIND WILL PULL IN
WARMER AIR OFF THE OCEAN SO
AFTER AN INITIAL BURST OF SNOW
LOOK WHAT HAPPENS, WE'RE
FLIPPING THINGS OVER TO RAIN AND
ONCE THE STORM GOES BY COLDER
AIR WILL FUNNEL BACK IN WITH
STRONG WINDS.
THE TEMPERATURES DO COME UP INTO
THE LOWER 40s UP INTO THE
LAWRENCE AREA BUT THE FARTHER
WEST YOU GO, THE COLD AIR STAYS
LOCKED IN WITH TEMPERATURES IN
THE MID 30s SO HERE'S THE TIME
LINE.
THE SNOW IS SPREADING IN GETTING
INTO THE WORCESTER AREA,
STEADILY BY LATE MORNING, AND
THIS WILL CONTINUE DOWN THE
PIKE, REACHING ON INTO BOSTON,
AND AROUND MID-DAY, AND RAIN
SOUTH OF THE PIKE BUT THERE WILL
BE A PERIOD OF SNOW, BOSTON, ON
TO WORCESTER AND NORTHWARD WHERE
THE SNOW COMES DOWN PRETTY GOOD
FOR A WHILE THROUGH MID-DAY.
WATCH THIS RAIN AND SNOW
LINEBACKER UP TO THE NORTH AND
WEST, AND ALL THE YELLOWS AND
ORANGES HERE INDICATING THE
HEAVIER DOWNPOURS SO BIG
PUDDLES.
A LOT OF PONDING OF THE WATER
HERE JUST IN TIME FOR THE
EVENING COMMUTED, AND AS THE
STORM GOES BY, THE RAIN AND SNOW
LINE WILL COLLAPSE TOWARDS THE
COASTLINE SO BETWEEN 7:00
TONIGHT AND 10:00, THERE WILL BE
A FLIP BACK OVER TO SNOW AND
THAT'S WHERE WE COULD SEE THE
ACCUMULATION, AND EVEN AROUND
BOSTON, AND NORTHWESTERN SUBURBS
AND THE WHOLE THING IS OUT OF
HERE JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT.
BUT THE WINDS ARE PICKING UP.
THERE IS A WIND ADVISORY GUST,
OVER 50 MILES PER HOUR, AND THE
STRONGEST WINDS COME BETWEEN
9:00 AND 3:00 IN THE MORNING.
WHERE WE SEE THAT SNOW THERE
COULD BE SOME SCATTERED POWER
OUTAGES SO KEEP THAT IN MIND,
THE WINDS STAY WITH US THROUGH
THE FIRST HALF OF THE DAY
TOMORROW.
THE SUN WILL BE OUT BUT NOTICE
THE WINDS ARE GUSTING THROUGH
THE MORNING.
UP THROUGH NOON OVER 30 MILES
PER HOUR.
SO IT'S A WINDY ONE, BUT WE'RE
GETTING BACK THE SUNSHINE.
WE'LL HAVE THAT ON NEW YEAR'S
EVE DURING THE DAY ON SATURDAY.
IF YOU ARE HEADING IN TOWN FOR
THE FIRST NIGHT THERE COULD BE A
COUPLE OF FLURRIES AROUND IN THE
EVENING.
A PERIOD OF LIGHT SNOW AROUND
MIDNIGHT, AND NOT GOING TO
AMOUNT TO MUCH BUT IT COULD MAKE
THINGS SLIPPERY SO A HEADS UP.
SUN IS BACK FOR THE FIRST DAY OF
