It's your girl Shameless Maya and today we're going to do something a little bit different.

It's Black History Month and we're going to get into art, self expression,

all of that jazz, so stick with me.

Haha. Grace Jones, I love her.

All of this, the pride, the joy, the excitement, and her costume.

This is all dreaming and imagination.

For me shameless meant not being ashamed to be yourself.

It's been a journey and I realize how much shame and fear hold us as people back and

it stifles creativity and just the ability to play and have fun.

I feel like someone, like a Nina Simone, who just wants to raise the bar.

She's constantly trying to push that comfort zone.

She now has a platform and a voice and what is she going to do sing the same jingle that

the listeners wanna hear or is she going to use her voice to really affect change?

And I think that's the struggle that artists deal with - doing what people want you to do

versus doing what you feel is right and what you need to do.

O, Kara Walker, to me this just screams dream big.

It's so massive and she just allowed her vision to just be that expansive and I feel

like as we as people, artists, students of life just remember to think big, take the

limits off what you think is possible and be this big, fill a warehouse, you'll shock

yourself a what you can truly accomplish.

Black History is a moment for us to tell our story.

I feel like we were deleted from textbooks.

I feel like our story was stripped from us.

We weren't allowed to write.

We weren't allowed to read and now this is our time to tell our stories that haven't been told

and I'm so passionate about seeing more of those in things that are accessible,

like television, like movies because we're constantly looking out to look back in and

if we don't see those stories, if we don't hear them we lose a sense of our identity.

And in order to know where you're going, you have to know where you came from.

David: Hey, everybody.

Today, we're going to talk about heart chakra healing.

Heather: I'm Heather.

David: And I'm David.

Heather: From Zen Rose Garden.

David: Dot com.

Heather: Yes.

David: Helping people create ...

Heather: BADASS lives.

David: What is heart chakra healing?

Heather: How do you know when you know?

How do you know when you know?

David: How do you know when you know?

Heather: How do you know when you know when your heart chakra is healed?

Sometimes it's different than most people think how it feels.

It's more of this buoyant neutral feeling where things don't affect you the way that

they did before.

You don't take things as personally, don't get offended that easily.

David: It's a lot different than being numb to the world.

Heather: Exactly.

I was going to say that.

Yeah, it's different than the person who's like, "Nothing affects me."

David: Did you get offended by that?

Heather: No, I didn't get offended.

David: Okay.

Heather: See I got, see my heart chakra's probably okay.

So, when you're so like so numb that nothing touches you and you don't get offended, "I'm

a rock."

David: That is not neutral.

Heather: It's probably not a heart chakra that is healed.

So when people are saying things that might otherwise offend you if your heart chakra

was hurting, and it's like, "Well, you can call me whatever name you want, but I'm pretty

secure in myself, and not going to take it personally."

David: Right.

Heather: And that's what we, non-attachment is the word I'm looking for here.

David: Yes.

Neutrality, detachment, where you have a compassionate detachment, is the true neutral.

Heather: Not a numbness or a detachment from the world, or disassociation from the world.

David: No.

Heather: They're two different things.

David: If you are checked out, you are not emotionally available to the world or to yourself.

Heather: Again, it's one of those tricky places where you may from the outside observer's

standpoint, you may not be able to tell the difference between someone who has a healed

heart chakra that doesn't get offended, that is pretty neutral and pretty chill, they may

not be like overly exuberant, like "Hi, I love everybody."

But they also might not be like, "I hate everybody", either.

They might be kind of in that in between place, and it may be hard for you to understand.

It might be hard to observe.

David: But from the inside, you definitely know when you hit it, when things that used

to offend you, no longer do, but you're not numb and dead to the world.

Heather: I think the biggest indicator of how you know your heart chakra is truly healed

is when you have this outpouring of love for yourself and for other people and for the

world, and it's just this universal wonderful, big heart that has no fear of being hurt.

It has no fear of going out into the world and experiencing the world and being with

the world.

You're not afraid to go out into crowds, you're not afraid to travel, you're not afraid of

getting hurt because you know yourself.

David: The natural byproduct of being in that buoyant center is that you know when to give

love and when to receive love, very simply.

You go with the flow and it's not a difficult thing.

You're not trying too hard, you're not overextending, you're not under extending, you're just going

wherever that energy flows.

Heather: So when your heart chakra's totally healed, you are comfortable in your authentic

self, you are comfortable expressing that authentic self without fear of judgment, rejection

or abandonment.

David: Which is the triad of fear.

Heather: The triad of fear.

David: Yes.

Heather: Yeah.
