Samsung Galaxy S9: First Look - Duration: 5:23.

Meet the Galaxy S9. This one's been leaked for a while so

this shouldn't be a giant surprise if you follow the tech rumors but let me

tell you everything there is to know about these phones. Let's start with some

of the differences, the S9 is now not just a smaller version of the S9+

the Plus version is going to get two extra gigs of rams, it's going to have

six, that's going to have double the cameras. So that's gonna bring it up to

two. The main sensors are the same 12 megapixels, they now have dual apertures

so it's mechanical you can actually see it open and closed. They showed us some

examples of how that's going to reduce noise. We tested it did seem to do that

although real-world usage will determine it. When we get this in their offices will of

course test it. They're also capable of taking an insane 960 frames per second

slow-mo video at a pretty awesome 720p. We tested it and they look absolutely

incredible and at fun fact about these phones they actually now have RAM built

into the camera system so it could handle all those crazy frames that are

coming in. The Plus version though gets a second camera of course for the zoom

stuff that you'd like. Other than that things are pretty similar from last gen.

The screen size are still a 5.8 and 6.2, the bezels have been

slimmed down just a little bit. The screens were already really good with

the S8 but now they're better this time around.

They are 15% brighter and we tested this, the screens did look really bright. That

should be nice and bright sunlight when you're outdoors it's going to gonna be

able to see the screen. If there could be two knocks on the Galaxy S8 that I was

pretty vocal about, it was the silly finger print reader location that's now

been fixed and no dual speakers, that has also now been fixed. The earpiece is a

speaker, it gets pretty loud. In fact it's about 1.4 to 1.5 times louder than the

S8 so they're really proud of it for music and if I use it for speakerphone

it's just louder now. One of the things that I liked about the Note 8 was it

kind of flattened out the edges so the phone felt more substantial in her hand

Didn't feel kind of as thin as the S8 was and it that same thing here at the

Galaxy S9 did it the note it's got kind of a flatter side to it so it does feel

better in the hand. If you like the way the Note felt you're gonna love the way

the Galaxy S9 is gonna feel. Samsung loves to be first with stuff

this is the first phone out of the gate shipping with a Snapdragon 845 so it's

gonna be incredibly fast for processing, for gaming, for a lot of VR and AR, and

should be better on the battery as well and those sizes are the same as last-gen at

3,000 and 3,500 but again the Plus has the 6 gigs of ram versus the regular that has

the 4 so so bear that in mind. I know you're gonna ask,

I I asked Samsung, Bixby button is still there.

It still does Bixby things but it's a little bit better now, you get some sort

of AR makeup see what looks like a different makeup on, it's now gonna do

real-time translation if you hold it up to words that are in different language,

and also if you hold it up to food it'll tell you what an estimated

calorie count is. One thing that is definitely new here with the S9 and the

S9+ are animated emojis. If you ever made it like a Nintendo Mii but you

wish it was more high-def and could map your face, that's what we've got right

here is kind of cool. It's actually gonna take a picture of your face and it's

going to make it, you can customize some - stuff your skin tone hair and clothes

but it does work actually really well. I did a test with each eyebrow going up

and down is able to see those things, smiling was able to see those things, turn

your head see those things. It's able to map your face really well of course if

you want to just put yourself into other sort of emojis like like bunny rabbits

and other things we might be used to those are here as well and they'll work

on third-party apps. It actually will just save it as a picture if you want. On

the software side the UI is going to look similar to last-gen and actually I

really like what Samsung has done on the software side but it is Android Oreo

based, in fact it's based off of 8.0 and I think all the things that make Samsung

phones stand out are also here you can run through the list of flagship specs

as check them off one by one. Expandable storage is here, quick

charging here, wireless charging is here, Samsung pay is here, ip68 of course it's

here as well. All that stuff that makes you generally

Samsung phones awesome or of course packed into the Galaxy S9 and S9+.

The u.s. is getting some good launch colors finally. It's gonna be midnight

black, coral blue, lilac purple, there's an awesome looking gray one that's only

going international. So that's it that's the S9 and the S9+. It doesn't at

least appear to be a giant upgrade. What I

think was already peak smartphone with the S8, coming from an S7 is a

giant step forward, coming from a Note 8 you might want to give it a second

thought before we decided whether or not to upgrade but it looks awesome. We're

gonna get one in the office of course the test put it through its paces. I'm

excited I like to last gens. This one looks like a really nice

improvement on that but we'll we'll be the judge. Anything you guys want us to see

particular about the s9 the s9+ leave it in the comments down below and let us know.

Give the video a thumbs up we appreciate it, of course hit the subscribe button to get

notified when new videos are coming. We have a lot of s9 coverage

coming your way until next time Jon Rettinger from TechnoBuffalo.

Why do phones get so much slower over time? - Planned Obsolescence or tech fact? - Duration: 6:15.

If you have ever owned a smart phone, which is almost a certainty for most people nowadays,

you have probably noticed that they get noticeably slower and less responisve over time.

So, let's take a look at why that is.

At the sound of what I've just said, many people will jump up and shout "planned obsolescence",

but we'll leave that for the end of the video.

Right now, we're going to look at the actual technical reasons for this apparent decrease

in performance.

Let's dig in.

First of all, the hardware in your phone is most likely just as powerful as it was when

you first bought it.

What has changed is the software.

You see, a lot of apps don't actually close when you exit them and instead continue running

in the background.

In this state, they use less RAM and processing power, but they are nonetheless taking up

a percentage of those valuable system resources.

The catch here is that, when you buy your phone, it doesn't come with a lot of apps

installed.

Sure enough, you have the usual youtube, facebook and any other software that your phone carrier

saw fit to put on your device.

However, this is nothing compared to the stuff that most people end up installing on their

phones over time.

And, as with anything, these background processes, while they may start small, can have a pretty

big impact on your phone's performance if you allow them to build up.

But let's assume that you are a knowledgeable and careful phone user who likes to meticulously

manage their installed applications.

This may will still not save you.

Mobile technology is constantly advancing, with faster and faster processors, graphics

chips and phones getting more and more RAM memory and storage space.

This means that newer phones will undoubtedly have superior performace compared to your

1 or 2 year old device.

And, while it may seem that this should in no way affect you, that is not quite true,

because apps on your device and even the operating system (Android or iOS) will keep receiving

updates.

Sadly, those updates are designed with newer and faster phones in mind and might not be

optimised for slightly older and slower decives such as yours.

This means that they might use a bigger percentage of your phone's resources, consequently

not running as efforlessly as before.

One other thing working against you is the actual storage space on your phone.

You see, phones use NAND Flash memory for their storage, which might sound familiar

if you know a thing or two about PC solid state drives.

In fact, your phone's storage bares a lot of similarities to those SSD's, which is

great, because that means that it's really blazing fast.

However, another important thing that you have to keep in mind about SSDs is that, due

to the way that they store data, they tend to get slower and slower the closer they get

to being full.

And, while that may not be that big of an issue for phones with 64 or 128GB of storage,

those stuck with 16GB phones may end up constantly having their storage space almost but not

quite full, thus making their phones feel a lot slower.

So what can you do?

Well, there's a few things.

First of all, if you notice that you have installed apps that you're not using, uninstall

them and don't let them build up.

Secondly, clean your phone every once in a while.

And by that I don't mean taking a vacuum cleaner to it.

What i mean is clearing up your storage space.

Delete the cache memory that has built up, back your photos up to your computer or to

a service such as google photos and then delete them from your phone, remove any files that

are no longer needed or that have been left behind after an app uninstall and so on.

If all else fails, you can just back up your contacts and data and then perform a factory

data reset, which ought to make your phone speedy once more.

And now, here's the thing that everyone thinks is happening but no manufacturers have

admitted to.

Or at least not until recently, but more on that later.

Many people claim that phone manufacturers artificially limit their older phones' performace

through software updates to make people buy their newer products.

And, in a turn of fate that shocked absolutely nobody, this has so far been vehemently denied

by phone manufacturers.

And then Apple pulled an Apple and, after being asked by an online news publication

about their odd slow-downs, admitted to throttling devices with older batteries.

What seems pretty odd is that in december 2017, just over a year after it's release,

they started doing the same to the iPhone 7, with them openly admitting that they were

planning to continue doing this to newer phones as time went on.

At first, this seems very slimy and also quite stupid.

However, there are actual technical reasons behind it.

What may or may not come as a surprise, is that these reasons just make the whole situation

look slimier and more stupid.

Here's what is actually going on: Lithium-Ion batteries degrade over time when it comes

to the peak power that they can supply.

What apple was doing was it was running its phones so close to the battery's power ceiling

in order to be able to claim that they had the fastest phone, that the moment the battery

started wearing down, it could no longer support the phone's power demands.

Therefore, the phone would suffer unexpected shutdowns when the battery failed to deliver

the expected juice to the components.

To avoid this, apple slows down their phones after a while to make them use less power.

The stupid slimy thing about this whole thing is that Apple is advertising and selling their

products as the best and fastest on the market, knowing full well that that is only going

to be true for a few months to a year, because the phone's speeds aren't sustainable

and they would be hammering the performance of the same phone soon enough in order to

make sure that this artificial marketing boost doesn't lead to device malfunctions.

So, big thumbs down to apple for this one and also to any other manufacturers who are

doing it and had enough marketing brains not to disclose it to the full public.

Samsung Galaxy S9 HANDS-ON Impressions! - Duration: 11:01.

- Samsung just announced its brand new

flagship devices in the Galaxy S9 and S9+.

I've gone hands-on with these two brand new devices,

and in this video I give you a first look at some of the

stand out features on Samsung's brand new smartphones.

What's goin' on Tech Squad, Andru Edwards here,

editor-in-chief at GearLive.com.

If this is your first time here,

this channel's all about tech, gadgets, and gaming.

So, if you're into that kind of stuff,

feel free to hit the Subscribe button down below

along with the bell notification icon,

so you don't miss any future videos.

As I mentioned, Samsung just announced the brand new

Samsung Galaxy S9

and Galaxy S9+.

These are its two new flagship smartphones

here for the beginning of 2018

and that remain the flagships,

at least until the Galaxy Note 9 is announced

later this year.

Now as I mentioned, I was able to go hands-on

with the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.

Big shout out to Samsung

for inviting me to check out the new devices.

I was able to spend some time

with both the S9 and the S9+.

And in this video I'm sharing with you the top features

that stood out to me.

To kick things off, let's get started with the design.

The first thing I noticed

when I picked up the new Samsung Galaxy S9 and the S9+

is just how familiar they feel to last year's Galaxy S8

and S8 Plus smartphones.

Not much has changed with the design of the S9 and S9+,

and I actually see that as a good thing.

A lot of people want to see new designs every single year,

but I'm much more of a mindset that I wanna see refinement.

If you have a great design, hold on to that design,

refine the design, and perfect it going forward.

The S8 and S8 Plus looked great and felt great in the hands,

so Samsung kept that design going forward

and have made an even better phone

with a familiar form factor.

And since it's a similar form factor,

you get the same display size as this year

that you had last year.

That being a 5.8 inch super AMOLED display on the S9.

With the larger Galaxy S9+ getting a 6.2 inch display.

Both devices have an 18 1/2 x 9 aspect ratio

and support Quad HD resolution.

Samsung says that these displays will get 15% brighter

than last year's Galaxy S8 display,

so it'll auto adjust in instances

where a brighter display is needed

such as in direct sunlight.

Samsung did also mention

that the bezels are ever so slightly smaller this year.

So what you end up with is a smaller,

more powerful device with the same screen size.

Now the size isn't something you're gonna notice

right out of the box, holding it in your hand.

You really have to compare them side-by-side,

take an S8 and a S9, put them together

and then you'll see the size difference.

So it's not drastic at all, but it is a welcomed change.

The other design decision Samsung made this year pertain

to color.

Here in the United States,

we're gonna see three colors of the

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.

Those being midnight black, lilac purple,

and the return of the ever so popular coral blue.

Now there's also rumored to be a titanium gray model.

They did not show that one to us

when we were there, so I'm assuming that if it does exist,

that's gonna be for international markets

and will not ship in the United States.

You'll also notice along the back

that the fingerprint sensor

has been relocated to a less confusing place,

so now you won't have to worry about

smudging up your camera lens,

since the sensor is beneath the camera like pretty much

every other smartphone with a rear fingerprint sensor.

On the topic of security and authentication,

Samsung does also support both face unlock

and iris unlock on the Galaxy S9 and S9+, as well.

Along with an intelligent scan feature,

they'll use a combo of face unlock and iris detection

for those of you who want enhanced security.

If biometrics aren't your thing,

you also have the standard PIN, pattern,

and password to unlock your phone as well.

Now, with the design out of the way,

let's jump into what seems to be the main difference

here on the Galaxy S9 and S9+

when compared to last year's S8 lineup

and that is the cameras.

Now I've said it many times before,

if you buy a flagship device,

you're going to be getting a great camera.

It doesn't really matter which flagship you buy,

the cameras are, pretty much, superb across the board.

Whether you buy an iPhone, whether you buy a Galaxy device,

whether you buy you a Pixel, etc.

But for many years, people have recognized both the iPhone

and the Samsung's Galaxy S line.

So both have, pretty much, the top of the line

when it comes to cameras until a couple of years ago

when Google slipped in and started changing the game

with the Pixel.

The original Pixel and even more so the Pixel 2

have been stealing the attention

as far as smartphone cameras go.

And Samsung is coming out of the gate swinging

with the camera improvements made to the Galaxy S9 series.

So what sets the cameras apart on the Galaxy S9.

Well, for the first time, in my memory,

a smartphone is shipping that supports more

than one aperture.

So under the fixed aperture, you've got a dual aperture

on the main wide angle lens.

Those apertures being F2.4

alongside F1.5 on the super speed Dual Pixel shooters.

The camera is smart enough to switch

between these two apertures on the fly,

but if you go into the Pro Mode,

you can actually change them manually yourself.

And it's actually pretty cool when you change the aperture,

you can actually look on the back of the phone

and see the camera aperture change right before your eyes.

So what does this mean in plain English?

Well it means, if you're out in a nicely lit,

daytime environment, the camera will know to switch over

to the F2.4 lens so that it will capture that wide color

that's all around you without anything getting blown out.

However, if you're in a low light environment,

maybe it's evening, maybe you're in a dark restaurant,

or a club and you wanna take some photos it will know

to automatically switch over to F1.5 in order to take in

even more light to make sure your photos continue

to look clean and crisp.

And again, if you use the Auto Mode,

or any of the other non Pro Modes on the camera

it's gonna do this intelligently by itself.

You don't have to worry about the aperture at all.

But if you are a pro or wanna use those pro features,

you can go into the Pro Mode and switch it on your own.

And if you're wondering how good the F1.5 mode is,

Samsung actually had a demo where we peeked into a cylinder

that was dark, and we looked in there,

and we didn't' see anything.

Then we took the Galaxy S9, put it on the F1.5 mode,

and then looked through that, and we could see

what was at the bottom of the cylinder.

So this camera is pretty powerful.

Now that's not all for the camera news on the Galaxy S9,

or more specifically the Galaxy S9+,

because Samsung has now taken that second camera

from the Galaxy Note

and moved it over to the Galaxy S9+, as well.

Which means,

the Galaxy S9+ is now a dual camera smartphone.

That second lens is a telephoto 12-megapixel camera

with a F2.4 aperture,

and both lenses support optical image stabilization.

So whether you're taking photos or out shooting video,

you're gonna get nice, clean, crisp images

and smooth, buttery video.

For all you selfie lovers out there,

the front camera is a wide angle 8-megapixel lens

with an F1.7 aperture.

So not much has change there,

but the front camera on the S8 was pretty fantastic,

so you can expect the same on the S9 as well.

Continuing on the camera front,

Samsung is also adding in a powerful, slow motion feature,

which allows you to shoot at 960 frames per second

at 720p resolution.

Now that is actually a crazy stat.

Both the 960 frame per second

and the fact that it's at 720p.

When I heard they were gonna do 960,

I figured it was gonna be a 480p video resolution,

but it's actually 720p high definition.

Now one thing about shooting slow motion video,

sometimes you're trying to catch something particular

in the scene, and when you hit record you actually miss it.

Samsung's also built in a feature

that captures super slow mo when the camera sees

something enter a portion of the display.

So you specify the area,

and you hold the phone up to the scene,

and if something goes through the area specified

it'll immediately capture a 960 frame per second,

super slow motion clip.

And you can see here that I tried it a few times,

and again, the way that it figures out

when to capture the slow motion clip

is when there's movement in the specified area.

So since I started moving around early

it actually fired off earlier than I wanted it to,

but eventually I was able to get it down,

as you can see here, this is

how the super slow motion feature is supposed to work.

One other camera feature

I'm gonna touch on briefly is the AR-Emoji feature.

This is kind of Samsung's answer to Apple's Animoji,

but with Apple they're actually animated

the emoji characters and with Samsung

the AR-Emoji is animating an emoji version of you.

The camera scans your face and automatically creates

your likeness that you can then dress up and accessorize.

I personally didn't find any clothes

I would realistically wear in real life.

And had no clue where my beard went,

but maybe that was buried in the settings somewhere,

and I didn't' feel like looking all over the place for that.

Once you have your Ar-Emoji, you can use it in the camera,

in text messages, and in other places as well to convey

your thoughts and feelings in emoji form.

Now let's step away from the camera for a moment

and talk about one of the other features

that I though was a major improvement, at least for me,

someone who enjoys music

and entertainment on my smartphones.

And that is finally,

the addition of stereo speakers on a Samsung Galaxy device.

Similar to what you'll find on Apple's current iPhone 8

and iPhone 10, not only do you

have the bottom firing speaker,

on the Galaxy S9 and S9+, but you also have the earpiece

now that acts as a second loud speaker as well.

Together they give you stereo sounds

and the speakers are tuned by AKG,

and the phone is also certified

for Dolby Atmos surround sound, as well.

There you have it, guys.

That was your first hands-on look at Samsung's

brand new Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones.

If you're excited to pick one up,

you can pre order these devices beginning on March 2nd

and they release to the public on March 16th.

So you'll be able to get your hands on these

in just about three weeks.

Now there are even more features

I'm gonna be showing you between now and then.

Those include new additions to what Bixby can do,

as well as improvements made to Samsung's DeX platform.

If you're excited about the Samsung Galaxy S9

and enjoyed this one, please do drop a like on this video,

and don't forget if you haven't done so already,

you can click or tap on my face

when it appears here at the bottom of the screen

in order to subscribe for free to the channel,

so you don't miss any future videos.

Thanks so much for watching as always, guys,

I appreciate your support.

I'm Andru Edwards and I will catch you in the next video.

Liverpool 4-1 West Ham: Player Ratings – What the media and statistics say

Liverpools performance in Saturdays 4-1 victory over West Ham was peppered with fine individual showings, as their top-four charge rolls on.

The Reds produced one of their most comprehensive displays of the season as they overran a battling Hammers side to seal a convincing win.

After their 5-0 mauling of Porto the previous week, this saw Jurgen Klopps side continue to build momentum ahead of a crucial end to the campaign.

Emre Can, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all got their names on the scoresheet, while the likes of Andrew Robertson, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also impressed. But who stood out to journalists and supporters, and on a statistical level?.

Below we compare our ratings with those of the Liverpool Echo, the Mail, the Express, Sky Sports, ESPN, Squawka, The Anfield Wrap, Anfield Index, Redmen TV and WhoScored:.

Unsurprisingly, both Salah (8. 1) and Firmino (8. 3) average a rating of over eight out of 10, with the duo in remarkably consistent form in front of goal.

Not far behind are Robertson (7. 7) and Oxlade-Chamberlain (7. 7), whose relentless performances at left-back and in midfield provided Liverpool with the backbone they needed against a tough opponent.

Only one player, Joel Matip (6. 7), averaged below seven out of 10, with the centre-back noticeably struggling in the first half. The Echo, Squawka and Anfield Index joined This is Anfield in rating Matip at six out of 10.

Interestingly, Anfield Index were markedly more critical of Trent Alexander-Arnold than any other outlet, with the 19-year-old largely impressing up against Patrice Evra.

And WhoScored, whose ratings are based on statistical output rather than a subjective assessment, named Can their Man of the Match, with Oxlade-Chamberlain and Milner just behind.

This could highlight the importance of Klopps midfield unit at Anfield, but on the whole these emphatic, positive ratings are evidence of an exceptional all-round display.

Liverpool 4-1 West Ham: Player Ratings - Duration: 4:01.

Liverpool 4-1 West Ham: Player Ratings

Liverpool romped to a comfortable 4-1 win over West Ham on Saturday, with the majestic front three once again stealing the headlines.

Loris Karius (out of 10) – 7. It was a relatively quiet afternoon for Karius, who was afforded the luxury of watching Liverpool dominate much of the game.

Two good saves denied Marko Arnautovic in the first-half, however, and he is cutting a more authoritative figure with each week that passes. His much-improved run of form carries on.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 8. Preferred to Joe Gomez at right-back, the teenagers attacking thrust and quality on the ball made him a better option against a defence-minded West Ham side.

Alexander-Arnold made some great bursts down the right flank, delivering several appealing crosses, and there was such maturity to his play. He really does look a special young talent.

Joel Matip – 6. Matip came back in for Dejan Lovren, but on current evidence, the latter is the better option.

The Cameroonian didnt do a lot wrong, but he never exuded confidence, and a tame attempt at a tackle led to Arnautovic almost opening the scoring. A slightly shaky presence.

Virgil van Dijk – 7. Barring one lapse in concentration right at the beginning of proceedings, Liverpools record signing was a class act at the back.

His ability on the ball was there for all to see, while his aerial presence in attack saw one header land into Adrians arms. He will experience tougher days at the office, but he was largely faultless.

Andrew Robertson – 9. What a signing this lad is.

This was another performance full of energy, desire and quality from Robertson, with crisp passing and pace both on display. Some of his crossing was also excellent, and he never stopped running. The Scot is now Liverpools undisputed first-choice left-back.

Emre Can – 7. Having missed the 5-0 win over Porto through suspension, Can sat deep in midfield at the expense of Jordan Henderson.

The German was never at his swashbuckling best, not that he needed to be in a more refined tole, but he contributed both defensively and going forward.

Can struck first at Anfield with a precise header, registering his sixth goal of a strong season – lets hope its not his last on Merseyside. James Milner – 8.

After a Man of the Match showing in Portugal, Milner stood out once again.

The veteran found himself in the wars, going down after reckless tackles from Mark Noble and Pablo Zabaleta, but he didnt let it affect him in a dynamic outing.

There was nothing too spectacular about Milner, barring one delightful Cruyff turn, but he did what he has made a career out of: being a reliable, intelligent presence. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7.

Oxlade-Chamberlain hasnt really kicked on after a great game against Man City last month, but he grew in stature as the match progressed on Saturday.

Deployed in a central attacking midfield berth, the Englishman was both neat and tidy when required, but also purposeful when space opened up.

He delivered the corner that Can scored from and found Salah for his goal – his fourth and fifth Premier League assists of the campaign.

Mohamed Salah – 7. The Reds man of the moment wasnt at his unplayable best, but thats not to say he wasnt a constant menace.

His speed, both in legs and in thought, seemed on another level to any Hammers defender, and he hit the post in just the third minute.

Salah wasnt to be denied his 31st goal of 2017/18, though, tucking a Tottenham-esque finish past Adrian.

Sadio Mane – 7. After his Champions League hat-trick last week, Mane cut a more confident figure at Anfield, but he didnt shine as bright as others.

He linked up well with Robertson down the left, often forming an effective passing triangle with Milner, and although three opportunities went begging, he got his goal to round off the scoring. Roberto Firmino – 9 (Man of the Match).

Another day, another superb Firmino performance. So much of Liverpools good play came through him, and constant lever touches, unselfish movement and an admirable work ethic were all on show,.

He slotted into an empty Kop net to put the hosts 3-0 up, completing a fantastic individual display. Starting XI Average Rating: 7. Manager.

Jurgen Klopp – 8. This was a routine afternoon for Klopp, who got a top performance out of his team and nailed his team selection.

Using Alexander-Arnold over Gomez was spot on, and Milners industry and Oxlade-Chamberlains pace were both good additions. Sometimes, its easy to take this world-class manager for granted.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, Robertson & 2nd heaven: 5 talking points from Liverpool 4-1 West Ham - Duration: 4:39.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, Robertson & 2nd heaven: 5 talking points from Liverpool 4-1 West Ham

Liverpool easily beat West Ham 4-1 following a second-half display which will convince many Jurgen Klopps side are the second-best side in the land.

After a fairly quiet first half Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was able to emerge in the second and really justify his inclusion in Klopps lineup.

Having had relatively little involvement in the opening 45 minutes, particularly for a midfielder, he produced a piece of determined play which led to the important second goal.

Trying to bring the ball under control he wound up beating a number of opposition players before eventually setting up Mohamed Salah.

It was the start of an impressive display, and he almost scored himself shortly after but could only hit the side-netting. He was taking up good positions and acting decisively once in them.

The 24-year-old should have had a second assist when another charge at the opposition back line resulted in a neat pass with the outside of his boot to Sadio Mane, but the Senegalese shot wide when it was easier to score.

A cross to Salah set up another chance, and a long shot of his own forced a save from Adrian.

Not only will he be battling with Adam Lallana for a place in the Liverpool side this year, but the pair could also be competing for the same spot in the England team.

On this evidence, and depending on how Lallana comes back from his injury problems this season, Oxlade-Chamberlain could be the better and more versatile choice.

There is no doubt that Liverpool are the second-best team in the league this season, and it could even be said that their attack is the best around.

This win sees them climb ahead of Man United into second place, but they are now a game ahead of their north-west rivals who have to play third-placed Chelsea in what should be a good fixture for Liverpool at this stage of the season.

The league is now reflecting Liverpools performances, but also highlights the area in which theyve fallen down this season—as despite all the goals, their defence is the worst of the top five.

As a result they are only one ahead of Uniteds goal difference, and Klopp will be hoping that an improved defence which now includes Virgil van Dijk, and Bundesliga Karius rather than cup keeper Karius, can shore things up at the back and help them become the 2017/18 Premier League runners up.

Mane had just turned home Liverpools fourth goal in front of the Kop to restore a three-goal cushion, and after a short rendition of Oh Mane Mane, the fans turned their attention to the Scottish provider.

Andrew Robertson was heavily involved in the game, as he always is, with only James Milner seeing more touches of the ball.

But here he was also able to turn his impressive play into something more concrete for the stats websites, with his second assist of the season.

During one occasion in the first half he had found himself with nowhere to go and no options for a pass, so took it upon himself to dribble down the right wing past a number of West Ham players before eventually finding a free man in midfield.

It was a moment more akin to one of Liverpools attacking three than their solid left-back, but he does have this ability when the situation requires he use it.

Another ability he has is good crossing, and his choices from the flank are much improved in this regard.

His cross to Mane gave the winger no choice but to score, even though he did his best not to by finding the inside of the post having just missed another easy chance.

It was a deserved moment for the Scotsman who regularly has his name sung on the Kop in recognition of his endeavour and work rate. Even if he might not always impress Opta, hes certainly impressing everyone at Liverpool.

When Michail Antonio slotted home to pull a goal back for West Ham, Liverpool still had a two-goal advantage, but a second for the visitors would have had led to a tense and uncomfortable Anfield.

While past Liverpool sides have crumbled even at the thought of such a scenario, this one took control of the game and simply kept the ball from West Ham.

After the goal went in the Reds racked up 75 percent possession for the remainder of the game, and only let their opposition have one further shot, which was a tame effort from a set-piece.

They were able to turn the screw and see out the game, setting up numerous chances to score a fourth, one of which was eventually taken by Mane.

The element of control they had at this stage might help ease the nerves in Anfield when similar things happen in the future.

This will in turn will lead to a more enjoyable experience for the players and lead to more success at home, where they remain unbeaten in the league this season.

Klopp now has another full week to work with his side ahead of the visit of Rafa Benitezs Newcastle next weekend.

The training camp in Marbella appears to have allowed the team to recharge their batteries, and the squad are injury free for what seems the first time in a long time.

The next big test comes against United on March 10, with a professional job required to win the Porto tie in the week leading up to that game.

Just as Uniteds clash with Chelsea is a good one for Liverpool, the Blues may be looking to this fixture as one where they look to regain some ground in the table.

Klopps side need to make sure that, come their visit to Old Trafford, that they are in the position to secure second place.
