Hey everybody. I'm Lynn.
Thanks for watching my video.
Today I'm going to be talking to you about the benefits
of watching movies, TV, and even YouTube videos in English.
This is a really helpful video so keep watching watching.
Watching movies and TV shows in English is a
great way to improve your English speaking ability.
You can improve your listening,
your reading,
if you use subtitles,
and your speaking
all by watching movies, TV shows or even YouTube videos in English.
Now the most important thing to keep in mind when choosing a movie,
a TV show or a YouTube video is
not to choose something too difficult.
Many of my students when they start watching movies or TV shows in English,
they choose something that might be fun to watch,
but it's much too difficult for them to understand.
Then what happens is they feel overwhelmed
or frustrated and they just want to give up on learning English.
so in order to avoid that,
choose something that is easy first.
Then after, you feel comfortable,
you can move on to something a little bit more difficult.
When choosing a YouTube video,
a good suggestion is to stick to one channel
and keep watching those videos many times until you feel comfortable .
Another good idea is watch the same video a number of times.
Repeat it over and over.
You can watch it with the subtitles in your language,
and then you can watch it
with the subtitles in English,
and then you can watch it with no subtitles.
And each time you watch the video,
or whatever you choose,
you'll be improving your English speaking ability.
Watching English programs is a great way to improve your English conversation skill.
So watching movies, TV shows, and YouTube videos in English
is going to help improve your English conversation ability.
And when you watch these movies or TV shows,
don't be afraid to mimic just what the actor or actress says.
This will also help you to improve.
I know learning English is hard, but I know you can do it as well.
Thanks for watching.
See you next time.
Tell me what kind of movies, TV shows, and YouTube channels
you like to watch in the comments below.
And don't forget to keep supporting my channel.
See you in the next video.

Hello, I'm Michelle Park here with the latest weather update.
The weather in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do provinces was amazingly pleasant today,...

The peak of the rain will be from tonight until tomorrow afternoon,... especially along
the southern coast where more than 200 millimeters of rain is expected.
The rain in the south will continue until tomorrow afternoon while a good amount of
sunshine will come down in the upper provinces.
As for Beijing, it's cloudy and cool while Tokyo is getting more rain.
The morning seems to be getting cooler as of tomorrow,...
Seoul beginning at 21 degrees Celsius, but still hot over in Jeju at 25 degrees.
Into the day, though, Seoul can expect a 10-degree jump, peaking at 31 degrees,... cooler in
the south due to the prolonged rain.
The entire weekend is looking bright for Seoul but you'll be needing your umbrellas again
on Monday.
I'll leave you with the weather conditions around the world.

Asian stocks under pressure by Trump's trade war threats - Duration: 1:47.
President Donald Trump is reportedly ready to impose additional duties on Chinese imports.
And that's not all, he even continues to be on the offensive, even going as far as to
warn of Washington pssibily leaving the WTO.
Hong Yoo zooms in on the repercussions of these drastic statements.
Asian stocks are under pressure after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to withdraw
from the World Trade Organization.
During an interview with Bloomberg on Thursday local time, Trump warned that if the WTO does
not "shape up", the U.S. might opt out of the organization.
In response to Trump's threat, Chinese stocks fell, partially erasing the gains made by
this week's global rally.
U.S. equity firm MSCI's broadest index of Asia Pacific shares outside Japan dropped
0.8 percent on Thursday, local time, for monthly drop of 1.6 percent.
The Shanghai composite index dropped 1.1 percent Friday morning to edge near the 2-year low
it hit earlier this month.
Hong Kong shares underperformed as well with Hang Seng Index down 0.9 percent Friday morning.
Asian markets been struggling for the last four months as the U.S. trade war with Beijing
has worried many holders of Chinese shares.
Growth was only observed in China's manufacturing sector in August after a two-month downturn.
Trump also said that the European Union's proposal to eliminate auto tariffs is not
good enough, and repeated his claims that China might be fabricating the yuan exchange
rate to make up for its slowing economic growth.
Experts say that Asian stocks will continue their decline if Trump keeps making threats
toward global trade.

Korea's coffee shops & cafes going 'plastic-free' - Duration: 2:42.
The recent push to drastically reduce dependence on disposable cups have been very successful
here in Korea.
And now we'll try to part ways with plastic straws.
Most cafes are ditching the product.... in favor of some interesting and eco-friendly
alternatives.
Kim Da-mi turns the spotlight to the newest efforts to go green.
With this edible straw, you can enjoy your hot Americano for two to three hours or your
favorite iced tea for up to ten hours.
If you'd prefer not to eat the straw after finshing your drink, it will decompose naturally
within three months rather than 500 years like plastic ones.
With global initiatives to eliminate and reduce plastic use such as plastic bags and cups,
straws of different shapes, forms and sizes are being produced, like these edible ones.
"My goal is to create even more appetizing straws packed with vitamins, red ginseng and
Chitosan that can attract older people and more."
Coffee shops in downtown Seoul have already started to go plastic-free.
Drinks and desserts are served only with reusable materials like stainless straws, paper straws
and glass cups.
These cafes also encourage customers to think and live eco-friendly by selling stainless
straws and of course brushes to clean them.
"Customers seemed a touch confused initially, but after learning about the environmental
reasons for doing it, they now bring their own containers to go."
"I don't think it makes a lot of difference to eat in wodden bowl over a plastic bowl."
Franchise businesses are also participating in the campaign.
In addition to Starbucks' goal of banning plastic straws worldwide by 2020, so-called
'Drinking Lids' have replaced regular straws.
Straws made out of rice, bamboo and paper will also be introduced in luxury hotels in
Seoul from early September.
But of course, forming new habits and efforts to maintain hygiene are necessary, and experts
say doing the dishes may require even more dish soap... a side effect of the change that
has its own negative impact on the environment.
Going green can be costly, as these paper straws cost ten times more than plastic ones.
But these straws can be the start of greener life and environment.

New military intel command to officially kick off from September - Duration: 1:53.
The Defense Security Command was disbanded after the shocking revelation of its political
interference scandals.
And now a new military intel unit is ready to begin operation in its place tomorrow.
According to our Park Ji-won, its members, selected after a sweeping personnel reform,
is dedicated to winning back the public trust.
After months of government efforts to revamp the nation's military intel command,... a
new security command will officially launch at the start of September.
The official launch ceremony will be held at eight-thirty a.m.
September 1st at the headquarters of the intel command in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do Province.
Dubbed the "Defense Security Support Command,"... the new security command will be led by Lieutenant
General Nam Young-sin,... who also led the preparatory work for the new command over
the past month.
The new command will be under the direct control of the nation's defense ministry.
It will be operated by some three-thousand members,.. a roughly thirty percent decrease
from its predecessor.
Members who were involved in the previous intel unit's alleged illicit acts, including
the illegal surveillance of civilians, the manipulation of online commentaries,... and
the drawing up of documents for the imposition of martial law,... were removed from the new
command structure.
A ministry official said the new command will focus on its original role of military security
matters and anti-espionage issues.
The previous military intel command, or DSC, was disbanded,... and executive orders to
set up the new military intel command with its own new legal framework were passed during
a cabinet meeting earlier this month.
Independent investigations are currently underway on the previous intel unit's alleged interference
in domestic politics.

Making a DIY Cat Walk - Part 2, with new tool: Makita Joint Cutter【Eng CC】 - Duration: 13:27.
Today we'll officially start making the DIY cat walk in the cat room.
We'll start with the wall next to the tower.
I'm imagining a design that lets them climb up to the top from here.
Unfortunately, this part of the wall is the most difficult to work with.
The biggest obstacle with this area is that it's missing the vertical stud in the corner.
I was able to secure the rail support for the left and middle,
But without the stud in the corner, I couldn't add another rail support here.
But it's ok! I found a way.
I thought of a way to strongly secure the railings.
Now, let's start working!
Before I begin,
I had to take care of one thing…
I need to let Neko Kochi play a little
Or he will be meowing the whole time I'm working.
Now, finally I can start.
I'm cutting the boards that will be attached first.
There is a reason I'm cutting this into a unique shape.
Let's see how it looks on the wall.
The unique shape lets me attach the rail support beside it.
I checked the drywall and its depth first,
And with the appropriate screws, I secured the rail support.
Then make sure the other one on the right side is leveled
And repeat the process. Check the depth and screw them in.
That's it for the first shelf.
Now let us move onto the stairs for getting up there.
I'm finally done with the stairs.
I want to mount it on now,
the cats might get to it so let's leave it for now.
Looks like we're having a surprise rain shower
This isn't good…
A little while later,
it seems the rain has stopped.
Let's start working again!
Now I'll be making the railing at the very top.
So these two pieces of wood that I just cut,
I want to join them like this.
It's finally time to show you this
Dora Kichi's new DIY tool kit
Makita Joint Cutter PJ7000!!
This piece of technology can help you make grooves to do a biscuit joint
It's not cheap, so I think it's only true nerds that buy it.
Since it's an imported machine, the instructions are all in English
I did my research on how to use it, so it should be ok.
Looks like this is how you adjust the angle
This is for the hight
This dial lets you adjust the depth of the grooves
Looks easy enough!
On the first try,
I don't want to mess it up.
So I'll practice joining with these scraps that I cut off earlier.
I got these kinds of biscuits to use for the joining.
There are 3 different sizes, and I'll be using the #10 today.
They are actually made of pressure pressed Japanese Beechwood.
It's made so it absorbs and expands with the moisture from the glue.
First I will draw a line where the grooves will be.
Then attach the dust bag to the machine,
adjust the height and depth
Align both lines, the one on the wood and the tool.
Let the process begin!
It looks like this from the side
Now we add the biscuits, and
join the other piece.
We'll do the same for the other part as well.
Now we have grooves on both sides
Now the moment we've been waiting for... Will they fit??
So precise! Amazing Makita quality!
I can't control my excitement!
This will definitely come in handy for future DIY projects.
Now, it's time to try it for real.
That's it for the biscuit joint!
Uh oh, something unexpected happened
It started to rain again, just when we need to glue to dry…
We'll take shelter for now.
My precious brand new Joint Cutter!
Looks like the long clamps I bought yesterday will come in handy for this.
It takes time for the glue to dry, so I'll work on something else while we wait.
Although there's so much more to do after this, so I'll show you in another video.

Bank of Korea freezes key interest rate at 1.5% for August - Duration: 2:35.
The nation's central bank is leaving its key rate pat again.
This comes while many anticipate the BOK will announce a raise at least once before the
year is up.
Ko Roon-hee delves deeper to find out some of the reasons behind this decision.
The Bank of Korea has kept its benchmark interest rate at one-point-five percent for the ninth
consecutive month.
The central bank has kept the rate steady since last November... when it raised it by
a quarter percentage point.
While the BOK believes the economy is on a sound growth path based on increases in consumption
and exports,... it pointed to economic uncertainties, including July's employment figures and low
business sentiment, as its reasons for holding the rate steady.
"Despite businesses adjusting their investment in the facility and construction sectors,...
favorable export conditions have put the local economy on a solid path and the BOK believes
it'll continue throughout the year to reach its potential growth rate."
Job growth hit its lowest point in more than eight years last month as only five-thousand
people were newly employed on-year.
Consumer prices in July also remained below the central bank's two-percent target level
at one-point-five percent.
A rate increase by the BOK could also further burden households repaying debts... currently
estimated at around one-point-four-trillion dollars,... which would put a strain on consumption
when their disposable income declines.
"The BOK will keep trying to raise its rates this year.
But a weak economic recovery, low inflation, and U.S.-China trade tensions could delay
that decision,... especially if the BOK lowers its growth or inflation projections in October."
With the BOK holding steady, the difference between the key rates in South Korea and the
U.S. is expected to widen,... raising speculation that the BOK may consider raising rates later
this year.
The Federal Reserve held its benchmark rate steady at a range of one-point-seven-five
percent to two percent earlier this month,... boosting expectations it'll raise rates in
September.
At present, the Fed's rate is half a percentage point higher than that of South Korea's.
"The BOK reiterated that the local economy is still on track for a growth rate of between
2-point-8 and 2-point-9-percent this year but it says it'll monitor uncertainties
including rising global trade protectionism.
Ko Roon-hee, Arirang News."

S. Korea's industrial output rises 0.5% m/m in July, but capital investment falls for.. - Duration: 2:07.
Statistics Korea released its data on industrial output for July.
Slight improvement from last month, but there's continued decline in facilities investment.
Kim Hyesung breaks down the digits for us.
Korea's industrial production went up zero-point-five percent on-month in July, making a rebound
from June's fall of zero-point-seven percent.
Output in mining and manufacturing improved, offsetting a drop in construction.
"Production in mining and manufacturing went up zero-point-four percent on-month.
Production in autos dropped but transportation equipment and chemical goods output went up.
Regarding transportation equipment, companies increased their workload in July to prepare
for the long vacation in August.
Chemical goods output went up on higher demand for cosmetic goods from Chinese tourists."
The average rate of manufacturing operations rose around one-percent to 74-point-three
percent.
Production in services stayed unchanged from last month, with a fall in financial services
being offset by an improvement in the science and IT services sector.
Retail sales, an indicator of consumption, rose again in June, going up half a percent
on higher demand for both durable and nondurable goods like cosmetics.
Facility investment, however, continued to nosedive, dropping zero-point-six percent
on-month in July.
It's the first time in 20 years that facility investment has fallen for five months in a
row.
In addition, construction investment has also dropped slightly.
"Facility investment fell as investment in the semiconductor and OLED industries has
started to slow down after soaring last year, showing a base effect.
Facility investment has been shrinking in recent months, but July's on-month drop is
smaller than June's on-month drop... so we'll have to see more data to gauge the outlook
in facility investment."
Indicators showing the current and future economic outlook remain sluggish, eding down
zero-point-three percent, zero-point-two percent, respectively.
