Judge Dismisses WWE Wrestlers' Lawsuits Over CTE And Concussions - Duration: 5:18.

A federal judge has dismissed a series of lawsuits by former professional wrestlers

claiming that they developed brain injuries from repeated head trauma.

No surprise here.

When I looked at this story Farron, the thing that struck me is there's really two sides

to this.

First of all, I always begin with a very suspicious story, very disappointing story when I see

any federal judge dismissing a case that really should be heard by the jury.

There's no reason that a judge should dismiss it unless the lawyer simply hasn't done their

job.

The lawyer might not have come forward with another proof.

Might not have had experts to come in and establish the kind of proof they need.

They may just be bad lawyers.

That's the first prong of this story.

The second prong is the lawyer part.

That is people don't understand.

You can hire a lawyer.

For example, most of these lawyers that handle cases like this do it on a contingency fee

basis, and here's the problem.

You got some advertiser out there that doesn't even know where the courthouse is most of

the time.

When you see these big massive advertisers, 1-800-Auto, that kind of stuff.

Most of the time, if you really drill down, they're not really even trial lawyers.

They're lawyers.

They have a law degree, but if you ask them where the courthouse was or how to get there,

they'd have no clue.

So it's possible that this lawyer just dropped the ball.

When I see a story where a federal judge dismisses a lawsuit, especially as important as this,

when a jury could hear the facts and make a decision.

Who's the judge to say as a matter of law, this is not a case.

I'm gonna dismiss it.

That's a jury question.

What's your take?

It is absolutely.

I wanna hot on your point about the lawyers in just a second, but to talk about this specific

one real quick.

You had 53 professional wrestlers, former professional wrestlers, and they said all

these cases were filed after 2007.

We received repeated head trauma from years in the ring.

They said the WWE who the lawsuit was against, didn't even know about it until 2007 the judge

says.

All your claims know that's bunk because they warned you in 2007.

If we look at the NFL cases, they knew in 1994, so you can't tell me that this judge

said, well if this one major organization knew about it in 1994, it took 13 years for

Vince McMahon or whoever to say huh, maybe head injuries are a problem here too.

No the science was out there.

They know.

This should have gone to a jury to let them decide.

Make the case.

Exactly.

Look, there's a lot of things a jury could decide.

They could say, well first of all, you had clear knowledge of the problem, you chose

to do it anyway, we're not gonna fine for you.

They could've said, well we don't even ... This judge as a matter of law says she doesn't

even believe in CTE.

She doesn't think it's a compensable kind of injury.

Here's the problem we've talked about so many times.

We always focus on the supreme court.

Right now Kavanaugh is the [talkie 00:03:10].

So important.

What's gonna happen with Kavanaugh.

But what everybody misses is all these federal judges.

If these federal judges at lower levels.

They're the ones who do most of the damage.

The new trend is, these new appointments to the federal judiciary, it's not just Republicans.

We get these emails.

Oh this is Trump.

This is Trump.

No.

Democrats are even worse than Republicans, if you can imagine, on this issue.

Here's why.

The Democrats always appoint these ... I don't know whether this woman is appointed federal

or Democrat or Republican, but we do know there's a pattern to it.

They get these federal judges out of corporate silk stocking law firms.

They never have any kinship with consumers at all.

They always work for big business, and then they put them on the federal court, and these

people then get this black robe bias, where they think that they're kings.

So for this judge to say as a matter of law, I'm just not gonna let this go forward, the

only thing I can read ... Maybe there's some part to it where the lawyer was so bad.

Maybe the lawyer was so bad and created such a disaster here.

That looks like a ... Lawyers have E and O protection for.

It's great you pointed that out.

It says a large part of Bryant, the judge's, 40 page decision focused on the plaintiff's

lawyer who the judge said persistently ignored her orders and caused a considerable waste

of time and resources over three and a half years.

It's like the Baker case.

The lawyers made it so personal.

Of course, you're gonna lose because you're not even talking about an issue anymore.

Okay, but you don't dismiss the case because of it.

You file sanctions against the lawyer.

You don't dismiss the client's case because maybe the lawyer is not doing their job.

That's not fair to the clients.

This woman probably is gonna be reversed.

That's my maybe.

With the federal appointments now, who knows.

But my guess is she's gonna be reversed on this.

But let's imagine that you only remember that the book is written by Al Gore and contains

the word "ecology" in the title.

In your first search field, change Keyword to Title and type "ecology."

Then, keep the AND term in the operator field, select Author, and type Gore.

And there you go!

Your book is listed at the top of the results.

Now, go back to the advanced search page.

Let's look at how you can find books for your research that you aren't already familiar

with.

Let's say you are interested in Ecology, but you also plan to do some reading on Environmental

Science.

To make things interesting, let's say you do not plan to read about botany, and you

only want to find electronic sources in the JStor life sciences database.

First, clear your search fields, and change all the Index terms to "Subject."

Change the first operator to OR, and the second to NOT.

Type Ecology in the first field, Environmental Science in the next, and Botany in the third.

On the right side of the page, deselect all the preselected databases, expand JStor's

databases, scroll down to Life Sciences, and select it.

Back up at the top of the page, save your database preferences.

Now, deselect "All Libraries" from under your search fields.

Double check all your information and click Search!

Viterbi Split Mechanical Keyboard Build & Review - Duration: 11:33.

Recently, I've built the Iris split keyboard, and the Dilly 30% board, which are both super

interesting DIY kits from Keebio.

I don't want to be so preachy, but I really do love the range of PCBs they offer, as they

give me a base to build keyboards from.

So today we're going check out the Viterbi 70% split ortholinear mechanical keyboard.

Alright so here we have the Viterbi PCB's.

And this is all I ordered from them, but you can get plates, cases, and other accessories

from them as well.

This is a split keyboard, so we have a pair of bare PCBs which are identically the same,

as the components can be soldered to either side.

You will require a soldering station to complete the PCBs, which you can learn to do very easily

with a couple of video tutorials, which I'll link in the description.

I forgot to do it here.

But make sure you put in the headers of the Pro Micro's in before the keyswitches.

But do not solder the actual Pro Micro until the very end.

I've hand cut a plate before, and it's the absolute worst thing to do.

So I got some 3mm acrylic plates cut by my friend Laser_Ninja.

Keebio do sell plates of course, but I made a few changes to mine, using the plate files

that they have on Github.

I basically just gave more room for some bezel, as normally there is none.

For the actual case, I'm using the same old polycarbonate sheets that I've been

using for my other handmade cases.

Honestly, having the scroll saw has really made making cases easy, without having to

spend much at all.

As you may have seen, I've already made the Pain27, and the Dilly, using the scroll

saw, and I love it.

Although it's still all pretty much free hand, as you're just following lines.

So you still have to do a lot of fixing up and checking to make sure things line up and

fit.

And then of course sanding and filling up at the end of it.

Having a disc and belt sander certainly does help a heap with making everything much faster.

With all the equalling out, I ended up with about 11mm bezels, so I'm pretty happy with

that.

Priming the case is super important as it helps the paint stick to the case.

But more importantly, it helps fill in all the gaps and scratches.

The worse it is, the more times you'll have to prime and sand.

The person I'm building this for wanted the case to be a nice simple white.

With painting, patience is the number 1 thing.

You just gotta be patient, as a mistake can bring you back an hour or sometimes a day,

so just take your time.

For the keyswitches we have Aliaz silents.

These are 70g ones, and are tactile switches, and like other silent switches, these have

the little dampeners on the stem to of course dampen

the sound.

The last bit is to solder in the Pro Micros, which powers the Viterbi.

But before that we have to flash them to ensure they work, because desoldering Pro Micro's

is one of the most difficult things possible.

To learn how to flash the Pro Micro's I'll have a link in the description.

Being a split keyboard, we have our master side, and our slave side.

So my left PCB will be my master, and will have the Pro Micro with the components facing

down.

And the right side will be my slave, with the Pro Micro facing the other way.

The keycaps I have here are just a temporary set, until the owner gets the actual set he

wants.

For now we got this completely 1u DSA keyset in white and blue.

And to finish it off, just a little surprise for ya.

So I wasn't sure on how I would join the two pieces together, but I wanted something

different.

There wasn't a hole lot of space in the bezels, so I got these 5mm neodymium magnets

which fit nicely into the corners, instead of using screws.

And they work pretty well.

Ideally I would have a few more magnets around the sides, but the bezels aren't really

thick enough, so yeh.

The hold is pretty good though, like they won't separate out of nowhere, but I definitely

would have liked a bit more strength.

And having those completely hidden, it allows us to have this super clean aesthetic.

I'm really happy with how it actually looks.

I went for a high profile design, so there needed to be bezels to cover the keyswitches.

And I do like me some healthy bezels to give it some substance and a good physical presence.

Alright, so to the actual keyboard.

This is a 70% split ortholinear keyboard.

So we have exactly 70 keys, in a grid layout.

So it's pretty sizable, being bigger than other popular split ortho's like the Let's

Split, and Nyquist.

And I really do like the size.

It gives us room for everything that we need, like dedicated arrow keys, all our mods, and

nav cluster keys.

We can also have 2u keys in the corners here, but we opted to just go with all 1u keys.

So it actually wasn't that difficult to use for me, since I wasn't really using

any layers, because we have everything I really need.

It's only the ortholinear nature that I had to adapt to as always.

But honestly after a few hours of use, it's not so bad.

The 70g Aliaz keyswitches were fun to play with as well.

I do like silent keyswitches, with their dampened feel, and of course quiet output.

The tactile bump is pretty decent as well, being quite smooth and prominent.

The only other silent tactile I've had proper experience with are the Zilent's, and it's

always difficult to compare them without being side to side.

Plus the case and plate always make a big difference to both the feel and sound, because

they're still quite audible in this.

Overall, I'm really pleased with the final result.

It's definitely not perfect, as most of the cuts are just freehand, and the white

finish isn't completely even.

But yeh, still happy.

I do enjoy using split keyboards, but the ortholinear nature just isn't for me personally.

But I know the owner will be absolute fine with it.

Again, big thumbs up to Keebio for having these fun unique PCBs to play around with,

and just giving us more layout options.

It gives me the chance to experiment like with the magnets, and just make what I want

to make.
