INDIA = SUPPLIER OF LABOR? - Duration: 12:53.

I had an interesting discussion with Union Minister Piyush Goyal on the subject of

India's technological advancement and competitiveness in the world.

My position is that India is a preeminent supplier of technical labor but it is others who own the intellectual property,

The assets, the platform that we end up licensing back. So, in a sense, we are providing the brick layers

And somebody else owns the mansions which these brick layers are making. Are we

vulnerable in the long run? And he had a different take on it.

He gives examples where this is not so and he feels quite confident that the current strategy is actually a good one.

I want you to listen to both sides because it's a very important debate. It's not one is

right, the other is wrong. But I want you to ask yourself the question,

Is India deploying its technological manpower strategically in the best manner possible?

Is it positioned to compete favorably with people like China or not?

Please post your comments and share with your friends.

[Music]

Do you feel that China started investing in futuristic technologies? It's the largest

producer of the solar panels, wants to be number one in electric cars,

Self-driven cars, Nano technologies and these sort of things. Now there is a digital economy where China has stood up to

The Google and the Facebook and the Amazon with its own equivalence and given them 10 years of

domestic protection which is sort of little bit unfair to the world economy.

But they have done it. And therefore, give them, given them a huge head start, now they

can take on and be global players on part, on par with the Americans.

Now, we haven't done that. So, in a sense are we at risk of becoming a digital colony

because we are dependent on Google, Facebook, Amazon, for as platforms

Even though we are tech people, but our technology rides on their… it's like they have got

the highways and we are running cars and buses on it. -Very very aptly put.

China took some of these decisions to transform itself in the late 70s.

And you saw them creating this framework from 79 to 84. Which prepared them for almost three decades of very fast rapid growth.

I would think two out of three years over the last three decades they have seen

double digit growth. -Yes. -Unfortunately, the Indian leadership

Until 2014 did not engage with technology, did not allow Indians. -Yes. -To really innovate. -Right.

To the extent of capacity that we actually had. We preferred to go the soft route of

importing technologies, of cloning what is done in the other parts of the world.

Post 2014, this government has tried to bring in more and more focus on innovation, more and

more focus on getting technology to become the defining feature of India.

Let me take a simple example of the bullet train. Now the last significant

technology that we brought into India and the railways,

Was in 69, 1969. When the Rajdhani was introduced. I remember, there was opposition to the Rajdhani in 69 also.

Some people saying, do we really need the Rajdhani? -The elitist or whatever. -And today, I read in the paper an

interview of an honorable member of parliament and a very very senior leader of the congress,

Which has said that if they come back to power they will scrap the bullet train project. Now, it pains me

That they probably want to keep India and all Indians relegated to substandard services or really backwardness.

And not allow the country to engage with modernism. -So, the bullet train is not only technology, but also

sends a message that we are technological leaders and we can innovate and we can move ahead.

Actually, bullet train is not about bullet train coming up in 500 kilometers. It's about

that whole stretch Mumbai Ahmedabad becoming an economic corridor. -Yes.

Where we will engage you with the world to bring prosperity to the whole corridor. It has an

element of make in India because all these technologies will come to India

And strengthen our ability to expand. -Yes. -At much lower cost in the future. -So, we can replicate it

elsewhere ourselves. -Absolutely. It will help us to start manufacturing in India.

And then become the provider to the rest of the world where high speed trains

are also becoming attractive. - We have economies of scale.

It will help us to bring efficiency, safety, make the whole passenger experience a safe travel, a delightful experience.

And connect the country, make it small. -And once this becomes duplicated in other parts of the country my

own sense is that the country cannot reach the levels of a super power that we aspire to be

Unless we provide connectivity at the most efficient and modern way. -That is correct. -And it's very very sad

That everybody is seeing the merits of the bullet train project. But sadly,

it's bringing in politics to try and derail the … -Yeah, yeah!

But you feel that in the digital side do you feel that the national security

risk, in a sense that Gmail data is sitting in somebody's servers

All our profile and behavior on Facebook and Google and all these things are in the hands of

foreign country. Now, if Russia can hijack or intervene even in the US elections,

You see, I as a user, I am in technology myself. I know the power of Facebook to profile consumers and mold their behavior

Through very targeted marketing. And so, there is a risk that somebody could, somebody elsewhere could use these

platforms and shape political opinion, political ideologies, create unrest, create separatism.

So, isn't there a national security issue that we should control these

technologies and have the data sitting in our country under our control?

Well, I think this is a subject that is being deliberated at different levels there are experts

working to see how it can be addressed, what kind of firewalls need to be put in,

What kind of technology needs to be super imposed on data or on existing data

bases, to ensure that national security is not compromised. -Right.

I can assure you that the good part of technology is while there is a risk, there is

always a newer technology that evolves to address that risk. -Yes.

And by the time you are using that there is going to be a newer risk coming in. so, this is going to be

evolution where you are all the time going to be working to keep pace with the future. -Right, right!

Now, I want to talk about technology, India's technology. We have become very strong and I

was part of the software and technology, so, I am very happy about all that.

But, you know, we are exporting labor. Our people in the Middle East are large part of the labor running the oil economy.

But we don't own the oil belts. And our software people are major factor in running Microsoft, but we don't own the software.

We are running Google and Facebook, but we don't own the equity. So, we are providing the labor and the actually equity.

It's like people from a poor village coming to Delhi building a mansion for a rich man and feeling very

proud ki hamne kya bana diya. I am a mason, I am a carpenter, I am an electrician,

Back in the village they are very proud because this guy is sending money home and he is better off than the village, than the rest

of the village. But, actually at the end of the day when the mansion has been built he is looking for another job.

He doesn't own even a brick that he installed. So, we are supplying cheap labor but we don't

own the equity in the technology, we don't own the intellectual property.

Don't you think we should have some of the billionaires and some of the very rich people

who made money in this economy should have reinvested in entrepreneurship.

Creating Indian ventures and owning equity on par with rest of the world.

-Well, I think there are two sides to this coin. On the one hand

If India is also providing technology, experts or skilled workmen to the rest of the

world, I see no harm in that. It opens up opportunities for many Indians.

And we should encourage and allow that to happen. Having said that, there is huge

potential for research, for innovation, for entrepreneurship in India

Which we have to unshackle, which we have to encourage. And if you will see this

government's programs, when it comes to skill development, for example,

We are really focusing to see how we can develop, make our people ready for the kind of

work they want to do. Better equipped to be experts in their works.

When it comes to start up India, stand up India we are trying to see how we can ensure

that entrepreneurs get an opportunity to experiment with new businesses,

To experiment with technology. Our effort is that we should, in fact, create more

and more public, private and academia partnerships for innovation.

Innovation and agriculture, for example. Innovation to see how we can reach the fruits of development to the poorest of the poor.

And in some sense if you see the India's stack it is a proof that India and Indians has the

ability. We just need to provide the platform to able, enable them to do.

Yeah, certainly the Indian as an individual is world class. I mean we know that. The question is if IBM has more people in India,

Than in any other country and this story can be said in many other ways also, many other examples. But

the equity of IBM, and their software packages and products and technology rights

Intellectual property rights belong to that corporate entity and we are providing them labor. So,

even when we do pharmaceutical research we do the drug testing, do the biology

The chemistry, but the patent lies with the client. So, in a sense we are, the outsourcing has this kind of a facet to it

That the real bada saheb and the malik is the… provide the… one who comes out ahead. -Many

of us do a job. It doesn't mean that the company that we do a job for

We should necessarily own that company. -True. But these company is foreign company. -So,

anybody who is working for this companies is also serving in his own way.

There is no contradiction between the two. It's not as if some of us or some of our people are working in these

companies. It stops us from encouraging the others to innovate and be entrepreneurs in India.

So, I think we will have to work on a parallel track. We respect the work our Indians are doing to provide

to the rest of the world newer technologies, newer research products and stuff like that.

But at the same time, I think the effort all of us are doing in government and we can probably

redouble that effort to encourage that entrepreneurship to also flourish in India.

To help innovators, to help people with new ideas come up with solutions to the many problems before this country.

And I remember in my earlier work as a power minister or renewable energy

minister, there were occasions where I saw brilliant work.

Coming out of the Indian stables, out of our IITs, out of our institutes of science. Look at

the fantastic work that ISRO has done. -ISRO is remarkable. -On space science.

It's a case study on. -Right. So, I think we can have millions of Indians whom we can

encourage to innovate, whom we can encourage to come up with new ideas.

Work in this, Mudra scheme, for example, helps people raise small amounts of capital to become

entrepreneurs. The startup India, stand up India schemes help people raise capital.

To experiment with new businesses. Similarly, we are looking at engaging with our IITs,

our academic professors from different institutions of eminence and industry partnering with them to see

whether we can get new technologies. Newer and newer ways to serve the people of India better.

In the next episode, Piyush Goyal-ji and I will discuss India's domestic challenges. We will be back.

5 Chromatic Licks This Is The Way You Use Them In Your Playing - Duration: 12:08.

- Hi everybody, my name is Jens Larsen.

A big part of what we consider the jazz sound

is the use of chromatic passing notes

and chromatic enclosures

and this is of course something you wanna have

in your playing and you're also gonna hear it everywhere,

if you start checking out guitar players

like Pat Martino, Tal Farlow or Pat Metheny.

In this video, I'm going to show you some examples

of how you can use chromatic phrases,

I'm of course gonna show you the chromatic ideas themselves,

but I'm also going to discuss how you're using them,

because you can use passing note and enclosures

just to add some colors in a line,

but you can also use them to point toward

an important target note in the next chord

or delay in a chord tone,

in the chord that you're playing on now

and you can also use it,

if you listen to people like Pat Metheny

as a way of creating some outside phrases,

that resolve quite nicely back into the chord.

In working with these examples,

I'm going to use some modal examples

and also just some two-five-ones,

where the chords are moving,

so you can hear how they work in a tonal progression.

If you wanna learn more about jazz guitar,

If you wanna make sure not to miss anything,

then click the little bell Notification Icon

next to the Subscribe button.

As you can hear, I have a cold today,

so if I'm a little bit more difficult to understand

than usual and I sound a little bit like,

(coughing and spluttering)

then that's why.

In this example, I'm using the chromatic passing notes

and the chromatic enclosures

just to add some color to the melody

and I think the way you should think about this

is that if we have, so in this case, I'm using A Dorian

and if we have sort of an A minor sound like this,

then a melody that does not have

any chromatic B notes will be,

and that all fits and you can hear,

that I could pretty much stop anywhere

and it will still work okay,

but if I start using notes,

that are not found within the scale,

then I have some notes that wanna resolve,

so instead of having,

if I start adding a note like on top of this chord,

you can hear that it wants to resolve

and that's the kind of small tension, that you can use,

it just makes the melody a little bit more interesting

to listen to and it creates a little bit of tension,

that you then have to resolve.

The first part of the example

is just the arpeggio from a 3rd of the chord,

so we're on A minor and a 3rd of the chord is C

and the arpeggio we have there is a C major seven,

so I start on the B and then I go up the arpeggio

and then I'm adding a chromatic passing note

between the B and the A,

so instead of just playing B to A,

I just add the B flat in between

and then down the scale to G

and then the next thing that happens

is that I add a complete chromatic enclosure,

so the chromatic enclosure that I'm using here,

this is actually one that's quite common,

well, I use it all the time,

but it's also quite common with Pat Martino,

because I think that's where I stole it

and that is because I'm targeting the C,

so I wanna play an approach to the 3rd of the chord,

the C again,

just because that's a very sort of strong note to emphasize

and the way I'm doing that is I'm starting with a B

and then I'm skipping up to the scale note,

that's above the C, that's a D,

then going down towards it with a D flat

and then back to B and then resolving to the C

and then on the C, I'm starting another arpeggio

and because I wanna have sort of the,

the Dorian sound in there,

I'm playing a C major seven flat five arpeggio,

so I'm playing a C, skipping up to the F sharp

and then down to E and then ending on the 9th of the chord.

This example is using the chromatic phrase

to give the line a little bit more forward motion

and really use the chromaticism

to pull towards the resolution,

so it's a two-five-one in the key of G major,

so that means it's A minor, D7 to G major seven

and the first part of the A minor

is just really an A minor nine arpeggio,

so there's nothing happening there

and a scale fragment

and then on the D7

down to the 3rd here, so really clearly D7,

spelling out that we're now changing to D7

and then down the scale, adding a chromatic passing note

between the 9th and the root,

which is actually similar to what I did with the A minor

and then going to the C

and here I wanna resolve to the 3rd of the G,

so the G major and the way I'm doing that

and the way I'm pulling towards it

and creating a little bit of tension,

so that resolution works a little bit better

is by adding

this melody to it,

so I'm playing the D,

I'm coming from the E to the D

and then down to the C, going down below the B,

just skipping down to the A and then back up,

chromatic and so A and then A sharp to B

and the number resolving the line there.

You can also use the chromatic phrases

to keep the resolution really vague

or maybe even delay it a little bit,

so that you don't really hear what's happening.

When you expect the line to resolve,

then you get some other notes

that you don't really know what are there

and that way you are sort of creating something

that sounds interesting and surprising

to whoever's listening to the solo.

That's what I'm doing in this example,

it's on a two-five-one in G major again,

so A minor D7 to G and the first part of the A minor line

is an open voiced Triad from C, so the 3rd of the chord,

the first comes down on the E, then up to the C

and then up to the G

and from here, I'm playing an A minor Triad

and then back up to the C

and then I'm playing a D7 altered,

so in this case, I'm really using D7 altered,

because that really pulls a little bit stronger to G major,

so when you play D7 altered, you wanna hear it resolve

and that's what I can use,

because if I then delay that resolution,

then the effect is a little bit stronger.

But the first part is

an A flat major Triad,

which is just a Diatonic Triad in D7 altered

and then we get this sort of E flat minor,

so the stock E flat minor phrase,

it's kind of coming out of an E flat minor Triad

and then now,

you'd expect it to go down to the D

and then just end there, so you have the,

and then that's where you would expect a G to end,

but instead of going to the D,

I first go to a chromatic enclosure of the D, so

and then once I'm on the D, on B3,

I go immediately into another enclosure of the 3rd,

so I don't really resolve until one bar later,

so in that way, I'm sort of really

creating some tension on the D7

and then instead of really resolving it,

I keep it going until I'm in the second bar of G major.

If you wanna check out an example of a guitar player

who uses this really a lot,

then you should check out Pat Metheny

on the trio album, Question and Answer.

If you listen to the solo on the song, Solar,

which I think is the first song on the album,

then you can hear this happen quite a lot,

but he'll really delay the resolution

by using some chromatic phrases.

But of course, you can also use chromaticism

to really start to sound outside

and that's what the last two examples are on.

The reason that I can keep on publishing videos every week

is that I have a community of people over on Patreon,

that are supporting the channel, I'm very grateful for that

and I don't think it would be possible for me to continue

making all these jazz guitar videos without them.

If you wanna help me keep making videos,

then check out my Patreon page,

If you join us over there,

then I can also give you something

in return for your support.

In this example, I'm of course using

a lot more chromatic enclosures and passing notes,

but I'm also starting to shift small phrases out of the key

and in that way, have some bigger chunks,

that are not in the key, you're not in the scale,

that I then need to resolve

and I can use that to create some outside sounds.

So the first part of the line

is really just targeting the root of the chord, so the A,

I'm doing that with an enclosure that's starting below,

moving up towards the A,

but instead of moving directly to the A,

it skips up and then starts above

and then moves from there as well,

so G, G sharp, B, B flat down to, and then I'm on the A,

then on A minor seven arpeggio

in the first inversion descending

and then from here, another chromatic enclosure,

now of the 5th, so,

D sharp, F to E

and then here, I'm starting sort of a shifting 3rd side here

and this is something,

something you will hear in Pat Metheny's playing,

I'm pretty sure you probably know it from him,

he probably got it from Miles

and another guitar player, that I also made a video on,

that uses this quite often is John McLaughlin,

so the exact same idea of shifting a 3rd interval

in half steps like this,

and then using a passing note,

I resolve it to the 3rd of the chord to C.

And of course, if you can do this with intervals,

you can also do it with other structures,

so in this example, I'm doing it with Triads,

but you can also experiment with using

something like Pentatonic scales or complete 7th chords

and then work with just shifting them

and finding ways to resolve those lines.

Now this is easier to check out in a modal situation,

because there you have a steady definition

of what is the inside chord tones that you wanna hit

and you have a lot of time

to just move away and move back in,

so that's why this example is also on an A minor chord.

The first part of it is again, just a chromatic enclosure,

so I'm starting, the target was the A, the root,

and then I'm starting below with a G

and then going up to the diatonic note above, the B

and then moving from there

down to the B flat and then the G sharp,

then from here, I'm getting into the A minor seven arpeggio

and actually it's an A minor nine arpeggio,

in that way, when I'm moving up to the B

and then from here,

I'm sort of taking the top part of the chord

or the arpeggio, and turning that into an E minor Triad,

or thinking of it as an E minor Triad

and I'm then moving that, shifting that down in half steps,

down to the D and from here,

I go back up to the F

and then I'm playing a chromatic enclosure,

that ends on the F sharp.

So in this case, it's because it's A Dorian

and I really wanna have that A minor 13 sound

and that's why I'm targeting that note,

which isn't really of course

like a strong chord tone in A minor,

but it's a very good sound to have

if you wanna have the Dorian sound across,

to have that 13 on top of an A minor seven.

If you wanna check out some more videos

on different ways to use chromatic passing note

or chromatic enclosures, then check out this playlist,

that are concerned with this in a bebop style,

but also in a more modern or modal jazz style.

Army Tried To Prove Antifa Was A Threat, But Found ZERO Evidence - Duration: 3:07.

If you've spent any time on Conservative websites, The Daily Caller, Breitbart, Daily Wire, any

of those, then you're probably among the people in this country who believe that Antifa is

the greatest threat facing the United States of America.

The US Army disagrees with you on that.

In fact, the US Army, according to unclassified documents, can't find a single instance where

Antifa has ever posed a threat to human life here in the United States.

It was reported yesterday in The Daily Beast that the army had actually been investigating

Antifa, trying to determine if they were actually a threat not just to the civilian population

but more importantly to them, to members of the military because they didn't want these

people to come out there and attack military bases or military personnel or anything like

that, that could affect the US Army.

So, they started investigating them.

What they found was not one single instance, not one piece of evidence, to suggest that

Antifa was a threat to anyone.

However, knowing this, it hasn't stopped these right-wing conspiracy websites from pushing

the theory that Antifa is out there, they're coming to get us, they're going to attack

us, they could possibly even kill us.

None of that has materialized.

Now, I don't care if you agree or disagree with Antifa's tactics.

They have engaged in vandalism.

Yes, that is wrong.

There is no need for that whatsoever.

But aside from that, they're not the ones out there sending pipe bombs to former and

current politicians.

They're not the ones who mowed down a protestor with their vehicles and sent her to an early

grave.

Antifa may be disruptive, they may be angry, but according to the US Army's own investigation,

they are not a threat to human beings in the United States.

In fact, even the army's determined that this group essentially sprang out of the anger

on the left from all of these hate groups being energized on the right.

That's what we have here.

We have a direct response to the hate coming from the right, that anger coming from the

right, and yet they still are not a threat.

Now, that didn't stop the army from saying, "But, you know, use caution.

Have situational awareness when you go near Antifa."

But they also cannot find any link between Antifa and any kind of organized group here

in the United States, including the Democratic Party.

This is just a loosely based group of individuals who are mad at the rise of fascism here in

the United States.

They may do things that you don't agree with, but by no stretch of the imagination and now

according to the federal government do they pose any kind of threat to human life here

in the United States or anywhere else.

Data Science Dojo Alumni - Kevin Burke - Duration: 1:31.

What we do in the daily basis is, we collect data, we aggregate and produce reports,

after the fact.

on a monthly basis.

And we also produce some information for the board package.

It is the first step in the data science journey, if you will.

Which is why I'm here; is to learn the data science portion of it.

Some of it is heavy stuff, but it's rewarding stuff. And it's put

across in a way, in a manner, that I think it's made easier to

understand than if you were online and you were at home doing it yourself.

You can only Google so much, but when you've got the access to the

data scientists that are here, it just makes things so much easier.

It seems like science fiction right now to a lot of people when you mention machine learning

They think you're talking about something that is unattainable.

And it's really not the case. It's just a matter of getting down and learning this stuff

and then bringing it forth. Given time, I totally think I'm ready to continue to

apply data science to my profession. I think it's the next step where we have

to go in in the predictive analytics field, and instead of reporting after the

fact, and trying to look into the future and figure out what are the things that

we need to do and how can we do them.

And I think this course really lends itself to doing that.

316118101 - Replacing Your Frigidaire Oven Light Rocker Switch AP6329681 - Duration: 4:07.

hi my name is Bill and today I'm going to be showing you how to replace the oven

light rocker switch on your oven the reason why you might have to do this is

because the switch is no longer functioning properly for this repair

we'll be using a quarter-inch nut driver a flat head screw driver warning before

doing any repairs please disconnect your power source so this is the we're going

to be using for this demonstration it's a Frigidaire and keep in mind ours

might look a little bit different than what you've got at home but the same

technique should still apply just make sure you turn your gas off so we've got

to do is turn our range around so now we have to take this back panel off in

order to do that we've got six screws that are holding it in one on each

corner and then in the middle on the top and bottom and now that we've got all of

those unscrewed we're just gonna pull the panel up so that the tab comes out

of there and we can set it off to the side so now for our oven light rocker

switch here you've have to unplug two of the wires that are going into it

now it'll just pull straight out or if you're having trouble because of the

angle that it's at you can use a flathead screwdriver and just pop them

out like that

now on the switch itself you got the tabs that are holding it in

so I'm just gonna use my flat head screwdriver and I'll pop that one side

up like that and then I should be able to just pop this switch out

now you can grab your new OEM replacement rocker switch if you don't

have one already you can find it on our online store so put our rocker switch in

all we have to do is slide it in that hole and push it down and it clips in

and now we'll plug it back in and just make sure it's secure there once it's secure

everything back together so now I'm gonna put our back panel back on and

what I'm going to do is with the middle segment to the panel right here that's

going to go behind everything and then that rests on top there and then I'll

line up our screw holes and once the screw holes are all lined up you can

start screwing it back in

and now we can turn our stove back around plug everything back in and our

repair is complete now we can turn our gas back on finally don't forget to plug

in your appliance if you need to replace any parts for your appliances you can

find an OEM replacement part on our website pcappliancerepair.com
