You are trying to grow your business.
I got a call from a women the other day who has this to say.
Victoria: Hi, my name is Victoria, and I have been running my own cleaning business for
about seven years now.
I've gotten pretty busy.
I am now having to turn away work.
I've just gotten so busy I can't take on any more clients.
It's always been a goal of mine to expand my business, and I'm at that point now where
I feel like I can and I want to.
I just have a problem that I'm running into now.
I'm wondering if you could help me out with ... advice.
I have quite a few of my clients telling me that they do not want me to bring anybody
else into their place to help me.
They just want me in their place, and that's it.
I don't know how to handle it.
I don't know if I'm supposed to let these loyal clients that have been with me for many
years go and get new clients, so that I'm able to hire help and bring help, and eventually
expand my business, or do I keep them and just bring help where I can help?
I just don't know what to do.
Hopefully you're able to give me some advice on this, because I am really interested in
expanding my business.
I do have multiple questions, but this is one that I'm running into quite frequently
now when I mention this to my clients.
I really appreciate everything.
Angela Brown: That's an excellent question.
You are in a situation where you're trying to grow your business and your customers only
want you.
They do you want to bring anybody else with you, but you're trying to grow your business.
This is not so different from an only child who has lived at home for 15 years, and then
the parents discover that, wow, surprise, they're pregnant again, and they're going
to be bringing home a new sibling.
The sibling that's already there, the only child, suddenly feels like he's totally upside
down and his life has been misplaced because now there's all this new focus and energy
and new bundle of ... and he knows his life is about to be discombobulated because this
new person is moving in.
That's not so different.
What you have to do is you have to reassure the existing child "you are important too."
Yes, this consumes a lot of our energy and our time and our focus because right now it
upsets our lives too, and we have to completely renovate everything in order welcome a new
little person into our home.
It's going to take everybody working together.
Now, when you go to a customer's house as a solo cleaner, there is an opportunity, and
this happens a lot, where you sell the customer on the benefit
of them only having one house cleaner.
"Hey, it's me.
I'm going to make sure that all the work is done.
I'm going to be totally responsible for all of your house."
Now you have to resell them on a completely different story.
"I'm growing my business.
I'm expanding.
Instead of one person that you're familiar with, now there are two."
You have to change the structure of the story.
It's not so bad, because, as you change the structure of the story what you can let them
know is, "If I get sick, instead of skipping your house cleaning, I now have a replacement
that can come in.
Instead of me inspecting all my own work, you can have two of us inspecting each other's
work to make sure that nothing got missed."
There are ways you can resell that scenario to make sure that the customer is comfortable.
But why are they not comfortable?
They're not comfortable because they know you, because they like you, because you are
the person they've built a relationship with.
What you need to reassure them is this.
The people that I hire will be drug screened.
They will be trained.
They will be honest.
They will be all these different things that are values that your business holds dear.
Now, as you bring them in, they're also going to be amazing people, but it's going to be
based on how you set that up.
If you say, "I'm getting so busy I just don't have time.
I'm scattered.
I need another person," what you're doing is you're losing the good will that you've
created by making it look like you're so scattered and you have all this frenetic energy that
now instead of you doing a really good job, there are going to be two people that are
half-hearting the effort, if that makes sense.
What you have to do is you have to reassure them.
"Because I want to provide you excellent quality, I want to make sure that I have somebody backing
me up so that I don't miss anything, so that they can jump in and they can cover the gaps
where we are growing as a business, and my attention has a lot of different focuses.
I want to make sure that no matter what happens, your needs are taken care of.
That is why I'm bringing another person in."
Yes, there needs to be a conversation about it, but the conversation is directed by the
good growth, not the bad growth.
You want to focus on the positives.
You don't want to focus on all the things that forced you to make this decision.
They don't care.
That's background stuff.
It's too much information.
They don't care why you need to expand.
What they care about: "Are their needs going to be met?"
You have to reassure them, "My satisfaction guarantee still stands.
If for any reason you're not satisfied with me, with my new help, with us as a team, whatever
it is, we will come back at no charge and we will reclean whatever.
Your priority is our number one priority.
Because you are our number one priority, I have extra people I'm bringing onboard to
make sure that all of your needs are met."
Yes, there will be a new energy.
There will be getting to know somebody new, but guess what?
Oftentimes, the sibling that you bring into the family becomes a well appreciated and
well-loved member of the family.
It just takes this weird little energy hiccup to try to get over.
As you do, oftentimes it's a way, way, way better situation.
We just have to take a deep breath and say, "I know I'm expanding my business.
I know I'm growing.
Yes, it's not so different from an only child getting a new sibling.
I know it's weird," and admit that it's weird, admit that it's crazy, admit that it's uncomfortable.
It's going to be uncomfortable for you.
You're the new parent that's bringing that person in.
It's going to be different for all of you.
All of your lives are about to change.
If they want to see your business grow, you have to be flexible with this new pattern.
Now, you can't clean forever.
At some point, even if they keep you on for 20 years, at some point you have to transition
out of that and move on.
Whether they move, you move, whether you get too old, whether you retire, at some point
you no longer what be their house cleaner.
From day one going forward, as you pick up a new account, what you may do is say, "Hey
listen, I'm a solo cleaner today.
As my business expands, I'll be bringing on new people."
You want to remind them that you will be training them and they will have the same standard
of excellence that you are providing now.
No surprises.
"In the future," and you can always paint it in the future.
We don't know if it's two weeks in the future, two months in the future, if it's two years
in the future, if it's 20 years in the future, "somewhere in the future, someone else will
be joining me in my business."
Just let that be a given so that there are no surprises when it happens.
If as an only child you always knew there would be another sibling, when it happens
it's not such a scare.
Because it's not that your parents love you any less or that you love your clients any
less, but it's that, yes, there is a new energy that's coming into our force.
Together we are better.
Together we are better.

How do I become financially independent?
This is today's topic of today's tip video of Fascination Freedom.
I welcome you to today's edition of Fascination Freedom, today from Marrakech.
We have a look at some great impressions, it's a very fascinating city and today
we talk about a very interesting topic: how will I become financially free?
How will I become financially independent?
Therefore, we talk about the five most important pillars. I got the inspiration to this topic
to this video, while doing a tour through the desert a couple of days ago
and an American asked me after I told him what I do for a living, that I am a financial author and speaker,
how will I become financially free and independent and this is why today we have a look at
the five most important things you should know about.
Before we start, there is a bad and a good news.
The bad news is that it doesn't work easily and that you're financially independent,
free and having your dream life in just a blink of an eye.
You have to do something to reach that.
You have to get it yourself.
This is very, very important and most people forget about that.
The good news is on the other hand that there are simple laws that work and we
can get it.
So, let's start with the 5 pillars.
The first point is to "work hard"!
It would be nice if everything in life would be easy,
but life works differently.
You have to do something.
First you have to put wood in the oven and you have to chop the wood before
you get the remuneration, a warm house in this case, and it's the same in life.
If you do exactly that what most people do, than you get what most people get
and that's not very much. It means if you work 35 or 40 hours and try to
build something big, the financial freedom as a big project, then it will take
more time than if you are willing to invest 60 or 70 hours or even
more and if you follow our contents already, that's a great thing that
I am traveling a lot, but I still work a lot, I like to work
a lot in order to further build our community and with other and what you don't see
are the endless hours - 60, 70, 80 hours I worked when I started 12 years ago and
you cannot see all the work behind it.
Pillar number 2, we have to "work smart", that means that you not only have to work a lot.
I mean we can work on the assembly line for 80 hours, then everything works
quicker and we earn more but obviously the smarter we work the
more money we earn, the better the situation will become, that means that we learn interesting things.
We learn about marketing, we learn to sell.
We learn to communicate, if we want to convince other people that
their money is will spent with us, that they want to buy or invest something
and that's what you have to be able to communicate.
We need financial education, what we do not learn in school but what's essential
and so important, is to learn how money works.
How can we attract more?
How can we invest more?
Those are exactly the topics of our community and our tip videos
every week and it is very, very important, that we are smart.
That we discover new opportunities in this world.
For example now, the possible topic of crypto currencies, the internet which
is still relatively in the beginning and if we are entrepreneurs, then we have to
learn how marketing and sales work and financial education is extremely important
on the way to financial freedom but you are on your way as you're watching these videos
every week.
Pillar number 3 is "Invest in yourself!
Lifelong learning!"
Always continue. Our brain has an unbelievable
potential.
So we should learn how money and finances work, that you also have a look at
health and spirituality, personality development and with this we will improve in all areas automatically
and thus improve our life and if you can, learn from the best, that means those
who are there where we want to go and implement the best strategies where you also have to
invest, you have to spend money.
For me it is habit to spend 10,000 € each year only for
further development and trainings.
In the beginning it was less, but I noticed what an increase in speed that is and I have started
to invest more, to regularly attend seminars, masterminds, that means that
I come together with interesting people, connect with interesting people, which is a
very important thing to do.
Pillar number 4 "Try a lot of things!"
The possibility that something doesn't work the first is very
very big and what are many people doing then?
They stop.
It is said that on average that people stop after 0.7 tries.
Why even less than 1?
Because most people not even try.
The point is, that sometimes it works the 5th time or maybe only the 7th time
maybe only the 10th time, maybe only the 15th time, but some day something
will work, and that's also my experience. For example in marketing I've tried this
and that.
I have checked out dietary supplements, there are multi level marketing distribution etc.
I noticed, that doesn't interest me.
It is not my area and not my kind of marketing but I checked it out.
I tried it and noticed it doesn't interest me and went on to the next thing
that also didn't work and I still continued until
one day something has arisen where I say this is something I like
to do everyday, something I love and with what I earn very, very good money. And then
pillar number 5 "Never give up!"
Here we separate the the wheat from the chaff.
It is important that we never give up because it won't always work
at once.
In the end, we only have to get up once when we fall and
we should not forget that and keep on going and if life throws us the 100th
obstacle in the way, we still continue, because we
are tested by life, by the universe.
The difference is whether we are willing to get up, to continue and learn something
from it, because we learned how it doesn't work to get there,
something that really works on the way to your own dream life is
my promise to you, because those are universal laws, if you consider those 5
pillars, if you work hard, work smart, if you never give up, if you
try a lot of things and invest in yourself consequently, it cannot happen differently.
You will improve your life to a great extent and this is what I wish you with
all my heart.
