Youtube daily Jan 8 2018

Hello and welcome to the first TT News Weekly video brought to you by SD Sport.

Each and every week we will upload a new video taking a look back at the week's biggest

news stories from the world of table tennis.

So without further ado let's get into the week's TT News.

The new table tennis world rankings list has been unveiled and as expected there were plenty

of big surprises for January 2018.

One of the biggest talking points of the list sees Germany's Dimitrij Ovtcharov rise to

World No.1 but there have also been major headlines about the new rankings positions

for Chinese stars Ma Long and Zhang Jike.

Ma Long held first position in the list for 34 consecutive months and has been the leading

name in men's table tennis for many a year now.

Victorious at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Ma Long went on to enjoy a fantastic first

half of 2017 with his capture of the Men's Singles title at the 2017 World Championships.

However, as of January 2018 Ma Long has slipped down the order, with the 29-year-old now occupying

7th position alongside Hong Kong's Wong Chun Ting who also shares the same number

of rankings points.

Zhang Jike has also suffered a major drop down the men's rankings table with the former

Grand Slam winner moving from 9th to 54th in January.

The London 2012 champion is now the sixth highest world ranked Chinese player in the

men's game and is some 33 places below 2015 World Championship runner up Fang Bo.

Ding Ning and Liu Shiwen are the big headline makers in the women's world rankings with

the two stars falling down to 21st and 24th positions respectively while Chen Meng is

named as the new World No.1.

Moving away from the World Rankings update there appears to have been a major news story

on the World Team Championships scene with reports indicating that the Nigerian women's

team won't be allowed entry for the tournament.

This comes after Nigeria failed to field a squad for the Women's Team event at the

2016 African Championships despite sending representatives for the Men's Team competition.

African teams that have secured qualification for the 2018 World Team Championships are

Egypt, Algeria, Congo, South Africa, Morocco and Tunisia.

In other news Switzerland's Rachel Moret has spoken ahead of the upcoming 2018 Europe

Top 16 Cup competition, set to take place in early February.

Moret can't wait to compete on home soil against Europe's strongest players and is

confident that she can cause an upset at

the event.

Sarah Silverman Saves the World - Duration: 5:05.

You know, sometimes people fill me with so much hope. Depending on what side of

the political spectrum you're on, 2017 could have been an awful year for you.

And there's many reasons for that, we don't need to get into them in this

video. But something happened on Twitter – and yes ... that Twitter! – that I think needs

to be addressed. I don't know if you've seen this story in the news already, but

Sarah Silverman decided to do something a little bit different when she was

confronted by an internet troll. Now if you've had to fight with internet trolls

in the past there's usually two different ways that you can do so. Either

you completely ignore them, or you fight them with as much venom as you can

possibly muster. And instead, what Sarah Silverman did was kill them with

kindness. Now I warn you I'm about to use some pretty strong language, but I'm

gonna read to you a pretty decent portion of this exchange between Sarah

Silverman and her so-called internet troll. So it starts kind of out of the

blue with this guy calling her a c***. Sarah responds...

He responds...

She responds...

He responds...

She responds...

He responds...

She says...

He says...

She says...

He says...

And she says...

Which just nicely ends off in a

fantastic little joke. This exchange actually went on for a little bit longer.

Sarah found him some support groups he could find in his area, and also helped

to raise some funds for some of the medical issues that he had. This story

does so many things for me. I'm so happy that something positive could come out

of something that started so negatively. I love that this guy could find some

help. I'm glad that Sarah Silverman did not just immediately dismiss him and

move on to the next internet troll. What 2017 has proven for me is that society

does not work at its best when two opposing points of view just yell at

each other. Instead doing something like Sarah did where she extends the olive

branch, where she becomes a bigger person in a kind of a tense situation can

actually change the world. There is actually a lot more I could say about

this topic, but for right now let's pause it there and throw it to you because I'm

much more interested to know what you have to say

about this topic. Am I just a special liberal snowflake? Or can the world

actually come together as one and talk openly and honestly about their

differences? Thanks so much for watching. My name is Kyle. I do upload videos every

Monday and Thursday. If you liked this video, then you can actually click on the

like button and I absolutely would suggest that you comment down below and

let me know what you thought. If you want help support me in an even deeper way you

can definitely go to my Patreon page and help to financially support these videos.

I will definitely not see you next Tuesday, but until next time be nice to

people. Don't be jerks ... you jerk.
