Hey Dan here and I wanted to ask a question that I've received a couple

times actually which is: How do I know when it's the right time to dump my

boyfriend? Now usually I just send a response like: I don't know, how quick can

you get to Prague? But I thought I'd address the question in a little more

detail here probably today is the right time I mean when you're at the stage

when you're sending some guy on YouTube granted a relatively wise interesting

guy but still some dude on YouTube a question about should you dump your

boyfriend it was probably the right time like six months ago to end things now I

say that a bit tongue-in-cheek a bit jokingly here but really in my

experience when there's a decision you've been sitting on for a long period

of time that involves a awkward conversation so that could be quitting a

job and you know a friendship and in a relationship usually the time to have

made that change was well in the past but we put off those decisions we wait

as long as we possibly can right so most likely if you've been thinking about it

and not to send it as a question it's time to end the relationship now there

are exceptions to this I'm gonna do another video about attachment Styles

which is a really interesting topic I remember learning back in in University

in psychology but essentially there are three attachment styles people have we

can be and I'm remembering like a decade back here so if I get the odd word wrong

but we can be secure we can be anxious and we can be avoidant avoidant

attachment as it sounds is people who avoid attaching anxious tend to be

people who are like clingers level 10 they get very quickly attached in an

unhealthy way and secure people are sort of the norm if you had sort of

consistent reliable love from a parent or both parents and not a lot of trauma

more likely you are secure and then the the other two ways like I'm not an

expert in this in this theory but you know it makes it stems from childhood

right depending on how you grew up depends on how you attach to people so

if you have an avoidant attached type where you find yourself always

looking for a reason to end a relationship that's another issue that

you probably want to read into more get deeper into attachment style but also

maybe see a therapist or a counselor and get more self awareness around that

because in that case it probably isn't nothing to do with the other person

right similarly if you like to fall in love with everyone you meet like you

swipe right and you're like yes I'm gonna marry him you might have anxious

attachment that's something also to to look into but back to the main decision

thing is I found in my own life whenever I procrastinate a big decision I

eventually make it month too late and I really regret waiting that long where I

just feel the time in between was wasted because I knew what I'd wanted and I've

seen this with friends as well where they talk about a big change they should

make and it takes them a long time to make it in that process in between they

talk about how maybe they don't want to maybe things will get better eventually

the relationship ends and you know there was some time in there that was probably

not the most enjoyable for both of them so if you're wondering if it's the right

time to dump your boyfriend probably 80 90 percent I would say yes thanks for
