Youtube daily Jun 2 2017

Earlier this month horrific details emerged in the death of a 19 year old Penn State sophomore,

Timothy Piazza.

Piazza was a member of the fraternity Beta Feta Pi and died during a party involving

a drinking initiation ritual for fraternity pledges.

18 students at Penn State are now facing charges in connection with Piazza's death, and the

fraternity has been permanently banned from the university.

According the indictment, just before midnight, a fraternity member wrote in a group text

message that Piazza, "might actually be a problem."

It says, "He fell 15 feet down a flight of stairs, hair-first, going to need help."

Fraternity members then treated Piazza like a road kill and put a backpack full of books

on his back to weigh him down and make sure he didn't choke on his own vomit.

That wasn't until 10:48 a.m. the next morning that anyone at the fraternity called an ambulance.

Joining me now to discuss this case is Andrew Lohse, former fraternity member at Dartmouth

University and author of "Confessions of an Ivy League Frat Boy."

Andrew, how does this case compare to some of the fraternity behavior that you studied

as you looked at this, as you created this book.

I know you've done a lot of research on this.

How does this compare?

You know, I think this case kind of falls in the middle of what can happen on any given

night of the week at any kind of school in America.

Whether a small state school or a big Ivy League college.

The drinking and the group think, the secrecy and the peer pressure, power dynamics that

are part and parcel of fraternities, are a constant problem.

It think that we can see that across the board.

In recent years, prosecutors have become more aggressive in going after fraternities.

I think in 2015 there were 22 frat members at, I think it was Northern Illinois University,

were convicted of misdemeanor charges in the death of a freshman student.

In this Piazza case, some of the members are actually facing aggravated assault charges.

Do you think these charges are having any kind of impact on the way that fraternities

operate going forward?

Well it's a little bit too soon to kind of assess and try to measure whether this new

prosecutorial point of view on fraternities is going to have an impact.

But I will say is that we are long past due for some kind of real accountability and responsibility

taking for fraternities.

Not just as organizations, and they are large national corporations, but as the individuals

who make them up, who make the decisions that cause harm, they cause death, and they are

in a lot of cases a menace to their community.

I think that by holding people themselves responsible, hopefully that will be a way

to dissuade people from even joining in the first place, and then hopefully to prevent

them from creating reckless illegal environments once they are there.

Well at the end of the day you certainly can get judgments against individuals that were

responsible.

Most people don't realize that fraternities and sororities are a huge business.

They are actually represented in Washington by a political action committee, I think the

name is Frat PAC.

Right.

First of all, if you are getting individual judgments against some of these people that

are responsible, that's one thing, but I think the only way to stop it, and I want to know

your take on this, the only way to stop it is to start taking money against the national

organizations, taking money away from them and closing down their business.

At the end of the day, it's a business.

These cats out there that feel like this is some fun thing they are doing, hazing, they

are part of that business.

In a lot of ways, that's kind of the draw to the fraternity, the talk of come to this

house and we are going to have some fun.

But it is business, isn't it?

Right, I think that's what the kind of rank and file fraternity members don't realize.

They think that they are paying dues and that maybe the dues are funding the alcohol at

their parties, or funding some kind of trip or something like that, upkeep of a house.

But a large portion of that money is then being funneled upstream to these large national

organizations that are a multi million dollar industry.

That is now seeking protection with Frat PAC, a lobbying group in Washington D.C.

I personally find that shameful.

These are organizations that every time something reckless or negligent happens, where there

is a death, where there is a sexual assault, it's clearly a part of the fraternity culture,

they want to wash their hands of it and say that 'Well, these are local chapters and

we can't control them.

We just set standards and they either follow them or they don't.'

But they are still happy to take that money, and they are still happy to use that money

to try to buy whatever influence they can in Washington D.C. to keep the whole game

going.

I think that you do need to have an organized effort against the national organizations

in general.

They've got their lobbyists in Washington and obviously they are doing everything they

can to lobby against any kind of change on hazing laws, because that's part of the draw,

isn't it?

In other words, if you talk about the fraternity culture, that's part of the culture that brings

the money in because it brings the members in.

But it's an interesting thing, I think you've called for fraternities to be abolished completely.

Wouldn't that though then give rise to kind of what we see, non sanctioned fraternities

which would be even more difficult to control.

Sometimes they operate off campus.

I don't know how you control that if you do away with them totally.

What is your take and reasoning on that?

Well I think that these colleges and universities have shown time and time again that they can't

control these organizations whether they are sanctioned, recognized entities, or whether

they are an off campus rogue entity that isn't plugged into the administrative structure.

I mean fraternities in general cause a unique harm that other extracurricular or college

organizations don't cause.

They are incapable of causing that kind of harm.

But they don't bring a unique benefit that some folks say that they do.

I mean the philanthropy that fraternities offer is not a unique offer.

I've never heard of someone being left to die on a couch in a red cross building, but

that happens in fraternities fairly often.

I think that banning them is going to be the only way that we can try to guarantee and

try as best we can to prevent these types of events from happening.

I think that the recognition that universities offer fraternities is not just symbolic, and

it's not just on paper.

I mean we are talking about insurance policies that they are allowed to get involved with,

different financial incentives, student life housing.

Incentives of being recognized.

Then we also have to start looking at judgments against the universities.

That's what I was going to talk about here.

Once if they are on campus and first of all you go after the national headquarters for

that fraternity.

Then the next target really is the university itself.

I've got about one minute, and I want to ask you, isn't that where this ultimately lands?

That the university itself becomes responsible for all of this.

Got about a minute.

I think that's where it has to land.

Because not only do the universities permit this type of behavior or this type of environment

to happen, in fact, in some ways, they encourage it and they look the other eye.

In my book "Confessions of an Ivy League Frat Boy," I talk about how I brought evidence

of shocking, disturbing and dangerous hazing to the administrators at Dartmouth College

who not only looked the other way but tried the best they could to cover it up, smear

me, and dismiss my truthful claims.

I think that has to stop.

I think people have to start realizing that we have to go after the universities who are

making this happen in the first place.

They are using fraternities to recruit their own students in the same way that fraternities

themselves are trying to recruit pledges to raise money and then send that upstream to

the national entities.

I think there is a lot of legal work to be done on this issue.

Mm-hmm (affirmative).

Thanks for joining me, good luck out there, okay?

Thanks for having me.

It sounds like a big long term project.

Thanks for joining me.

You bet.

10 Hidden & Secret iPhone Features - Duration: 5:32.

"Music"

Hey guys it Sagar from Tecworkz, and in this video I will show you guy some underused features

that your iPhone already has, but you either don't know about them, or have totally forgot

that they exist.

These are some of the simplest features that have existed since a while on the iPhones,

but not a lot of users are aware about them.

Some of you might know a few of these, while some might even know every single features

that I am going to show.

At the end of this video, be honest and let me know in the comments section, how many

of these features you knew about and how often do you actually use them.

Before we get started, please hit the subscribe button, so you don't miss out on any of the

amazing upcoming videos on this channel.

Let us start with the feature that prompted me to make this video.

When you are doing some calculations in the native calculator app, and you type in a wrong

digit, there is no delete or backspace button, So you end up clearing the complete number

and start putting in digits again.

Instead of clearing the number, all you have to do is swipe your finger, right or left

on the part where the digits are, and it deletes one digit at a time, it is that simple.

This feature has been there since long time, but someone recently shared it on the internet,

and people have been going crazy over it.

Since we are talking about the calculator app, here is another tip.

Turn off the orientation lock on your iPhone, and while using the calculator app Rotate

your phone to landscape mode, now your basic calculator app turns into a full fledged advanced

calculator.

Try it out.

If you are like me and have a lot of tabs open while surfing in the safari browser,

it takes sometime to close all the tabs one by one.

There is an easy way to close all tabs at once, just tap and hold the tab button for

2 seconds, and you get an option to close all the open tabs.

If you want to get back to one of the tabs that you recently closed, you can do that

easily as well.

Just tap the tab button, and hold down on the plus mart at the bottom of the screen

for 2 seconds, it will show you the list of the tabs you closed recently, and you can

easily get back to the one you want.

While viewing photos on your iPhone, you can very easily double tap or pinch to zoom on

any particular part of the image.

Now you can do this with videos as well.

If you want to zoom onto a particular part of a video, just double tap on that part,

or pinch to zoom on a particular part of the video.

If you are taking a panorama shot, by default you will have to move the phone from left

to right to take the shot, but if you want to do it the other way around, just tap on

the arrow and it will change the direction.

Now you can move your phone from right to left for taking that panorama shot.

You might already know about the editor in the Photos app, it helps you edit and make

your photos even better.

But a not a lot of you might know about the markup extension available in the editor.

When you are editing any photo, just click on this circle with 3 dots, and then select

Markup.

With this option, you can draw over your photos, magnify a certain part of the image, or even

overlay text on the images.

Now you don't need to download a 3rd party app, just to draw doodles on your photos.

While you are searching for particular setting, in the settings app, and you don't exactly

remember under which sub menu that setting is hiding, it can become pretty annoying.

To fix that, settings menu now comes with a search bar.

just swipe down in the settings app to reveal it, and type in the the setting you are looking

for, tapping on the result will directly take you to that particular setting.

You might have noticed, to go back from any page, I just swipe to right from the left

edge of the screen, instead of tapping the back button which is all the way at the top

left of the screen.

This is one of the ways to navigate on the larger iPhones using just one hand

If you are typing on your iPhone, and realise that you made a mistake, you have to tap on

the wrong word or the alphabet that you want to change, for that you will have to touch

on any word for 2 seconds so the magnifier shows up, and then move the cursor around.

If you are using an iPhone 6S or higher, you can just force touch on the keyboard, and

the whole thing now turns into a trackpad, this way you can move the cursor around with

ease and precision.

You can apply further pressure on the keyboard to select a particular word or a sentence.

This is one of the feature that I use all the time, while typing.

Again while typing, If you want to delete something that you just wrote or if you deleted

a word or a sentence by mistake, don't worry, just shake your phone a bit, and it gives

you the option to Undo or Redo typing.

While scrolling down through a long article or a web page, if you need to go back to the

top of the page, scrolling all the way back up can take a few swipes, depending on the

webpage you are on.

There is a easy and fast way to the top of any page.

Just tap once on the status bar, and it will take you straight to the top of any page.

This also works in most of the apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.

If you made it so far in the video, did you realise that went through 13 features, not

just 10!

These have been some of the simplest features that have existed on the iPhones for a while.

Now be honest and let me know in the comments section, how many of these features you knew

about and how often do you actually use them.

You might have learned something new today, or knew about a few or most of these features

all along, In either case, start using these feature more often, and try to get the most

out of your iPhone.

That is it for this video, guys.

Please hit the like button if you enjoyed this video, and Subscribe to the channel for

more quality tech videos like this.

You can also check out some of the other videos on this channel.

This has been Sagar, and ill catch you guys in the next video.

Take care.

Teenage Girl Charged With Killing Uber Driver With Stolen Weapons - Duration: 2:14.

What's up, guys?

For Complex News, I'm Beija Velez.

On Wednesday, 16-year-old Eliza Wasni was charged with first-degree murder for allegedly

killing her Uber driver in a suburb of Chicago.

According to prosecutors, Wasni called an Uber just after 3 a.m. Tuesday morning and,

shortly after hopping in the car, stabbed and hacked at the driver with a machete and

a knife, both of which she had just shoplifted from a nearby Walmart.

The driver, 34-year-old Grant Nelson, managed to escape from the car into the lobby of a

building, where residents called the police.

He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Wasni, meanwhile, was trying her best to get away in Nelson's car.

But after hitting a median, she ran away on foot.

When the cops found her hiding near a big AC unit, she refused to drop her weapons.

She was then tased and taken into custody.

Because of the severity of her crime, Wasni is being charged as an adult and was denied

bail.

The victim's sister, Alexandra Nelson, spoke to reporters about her brother.

Uber, which is co-operating with the investigation, released a statement about the incident.

"We are heartbroken by the loss of one of our partners.

Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this incredibly

difficult time."

On a similar note, Nelson's mother Christina had a message for drivers as well.

"To the wider driving community—Uber, Lyft, and taxi cab drivers—who take us all where

we need to go, we pray that you will remain safe and free from harm, and hope that if

anything can be done to increase your safety, it will be done."

So far, there has been no motive advanced for the killing, and Wasni has not made any

statements.

Members of Nelson's family, and prosecutors as well, believe the attack was random.

Wasni's lawyer, Assistant Public Defender David McMahon, says only that his new client

attends high school, lives with her mother, and has no previous criminal record.

Other than that, he refused to comment.

That's the news for now.

Lemon-Coconut Pound Cake | Southern Living - Duration: 1:34.

(upbeat music)

The culture in the south,

especially when it comes to our food,

is different than anywhere else in the US.

This lemon-coconut pound cake loaf

is the quintessential southern dessert.

It combines lemon and coconut,

two things that are really popular throughout the Caribbean.

This dessert takes so many flavors that are so widely known

somewhere that's not really southern,

but then we take them to make it our own.

It is a twist on the classic southern sour cream pound cake

that has a really fun summery flavor with coconut and lemon,

and we just brighten it up and make it

the perfect summer dessert.

Our original sour cream pound cake was first published

in Southern Living in 2006.

We loved it so much.

It was originally submitted by a Southern Living reader,

and we loved it so much that we published it

on our 2006 June cover.

This pound cake is a kind of a riff off

of that original sour cream pound cake

that we've added coconut and lemon zest to

to make it really, really bright and summery,

and just to kind of fall back on those roots

of the many cultures that really make it part of the south.

We take things from the Caribbean like coconut

and lemon zest and really turn it into a really great,

awesome summer dessert.

NOT JUST TO APPEAL TO THE 38%, BUT TO CHANGE THE UNITED STATES'

ROLE IN THE WORLD AND THE ORDERING OF THE AMERICAN

ECONOMY. AND THERE'S NO DOUBT THAT THE

PRESIDENT AND BANNON SEE A LOT OF THINGS THE SAME WAY.

SO IT'S RELATIVELY EASY FOR HIM COMPARED TO THE OTHER ADVISERS

AROUND THE PRESIDENT, BECAUSE THEY AGREE.

>> BANNON HAS A CLEAR CONSTITUENCY IN THE COUNTRY.

IT'S NOT CLEAR WHAT THE CONSTITUENCY IS FOR JARED

KUSHNER AND IVANKA TRUMP AND WHOSE POLICIES THEY ARE

RESPONDING TO. >> THE GOOD PEOPLE OF ZIP CODE

1002. >> FIVE OF THEM.

AND IT'S NOT THE SAME WHEN YOU'RE TRYING TO LOBBY TO THE

PRESIDENT TO SAY IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR SUPPORTERS --

>> THAT SAID, THOUGH, THIS ENTIRE DONALD TRUMP PHENOMENON

IS A 38% PHENOMENON. HE WAS IN THE LOW TO MID 30s IN

HIS APPROVAL RATINGS UNTIL PEOPLE HAD TO DECIDE WHETHER

THEY WERE GOING TO VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON OR NOT.

AND WITHOUT OFFENDING HILLARY CLINTON SUPPORTERS, THEY LOOKED

AT THE HILLARY CLINTON THAT WE SAW YESTERDAY OR THE DAY BEFORE,

WHENEVER SHE WAS OUT, BLAMING THE DNC AND EVERYBODY ELSE AND

SAID I'M NOT GOING TO VOTE FOR A BUSH OR CLINTON ANYMORE.

I'M GOING TO VOTE FOR TRUMP. 38% PHENOMENON.

EVEN IF HIS APPROVAL RATINGS GO UP TO 44%.

SO THE CONSTITUENCY FOR BANNON, PRESIDENT BANNON AND HIS

ADVISER, DONALD TRUMP, IS 38%. MAYBE 40% ON A GOOD DAY.

THAT WOULD -- IF YOU WERE RUNNING FOR PRIME MINISTER OF

ISRAEL, THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH. BUT IT'S NOT HERE.

THEY ARE NARROW CASTING. AND EVEN YESTERDAY WHEN HE WAS

TALKING ABOUT PITTSBURGH, HE WASN'T EVEN GETTING THAT RIGHT.

>> HE WASN'T GETTING THAT RIGHT. THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH WENT FOR

SECRETARY CLINTON. I DID TRAVEL AROUND THE SUBURBS

OF PITTSBURGH, THE COAL MINING AREAS, STEEL TOWNS AND THOSE ARE

TRUMP AREAS. WHEN I ASKED MY SOURCES WHAT

WENT WRONG FOR THE MODERATES IN THE WEST WING WHEN THEY WERE

MAKING THE CASE TO PRESIDENT TRUMP, THEY SAID THERE WAS A

MISUNDERSTANDING OF TRUMP. AS MUCH AS HE WANTS APPROVAL AND

WANTS TO BE SEEN AS POPULAR, HE DOESN'T LOVE ELITE OPINION.

THIS IS SOMEONE WHO USED TO MALIGN NEW YORK SOCIETY,

HAPPIEST WHEN HE WAS AT 29 CLUB HAVING A HAMBURGER.

THIS IS NOT SOMEONE YOU CAN MAKE A CASE TO ON THE PARIS ACCORD

THAT MACRON AND MERKEL, THESE ARE THE PEOPLE YOU NEED THEIR

APPROVAL OF. HE ACTUALLY RECOILS AT ELITE

ESTABLISHMENT STUFF AS MUCH AS HE WANTS POPULARITY.

>> WHY DID JARED AND IVANKA NOT UNDERSTAND THAT, THEN?

THEY KNOW HIM BETTER THAN ANYBODY ZBLIE THINK THE KUSHNER,

IVANKA TRUMP HAS THE PRESIDENT'S CONFIDENCE ON A PERSONAL LEVEL

BUT PLIMTLIMITED ON A POLITICAL SPECTRUM.

>> THAT'S BECAUSE THE PRESIDENT IS REALLY STEVE BANNON.

>> STEVE BANNON -- PRESIDENT BANNON HAS NEVER FIGURED OUT

THAT TO GET RE-ELECTED, PRESIDENT

Secretary Of Commerce Wilbur Ross: President Trump Is An Environmentalist | TODAY - Duration: 4:15.

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. MATT?

>> ALL RIGHT. PETER ALEXANDER.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. >>> WE'RE JOINED NOW BY THE

SECRETARY OF COMMERCEMMERCE, WI ROSS.

MR. SECRETARY, IT'S GOOD TO SEE YOU THIS MORNING.

THANKS FOR JOINING US. >> GOOD TO BE ON WITH YOU, MATT.

>> BEFORE YOU JOINED THE PRESIDENT'S CABINET, YOU'RE A

BUSINESS GUY. YOU MADE A NAME FOR YOURSELF AND

A FORTUNE IN THE BUSINESS WORLD. WHAT DO YOU SAY TO YOUR FORMER

COLLEAGUES IN BUSINESS? WHAT DO YOU SAY TO CEOs OF MAJOR

COMPANIES? WHAT DO YOU SAY TO PEOPLE LIKE

ELON MUSK AND BOB IGER, WHO HAVE NOW PULLED OFF THE PRESIDENTIAL

BUSINESS ADVISORY COUNCIL IN PROTEST OVER THIS?

WHY ARE THEY WRONG? >> I THINK THEY'RE WRONG,

BECAUSE WHAT THE PRESIDENT IS NOT DOING IS SAYING HE'S NOT

GOING TO TRY TO IMPROVE CLIMATE. WHAT HE IS SAYING IS THIS

PARTICULAR AGREEMENT DOES NOT APPEAL, WAS DESTRUCTIVE OF U.S.

ECONOMIC GROWTH GOING OUT INTO THE FUTURE.

I THINK THEY'RE CONFUSING THE WITHDRAWAL FROM THE AGREEMENT

WITH THE IDEA THAT HE'S AGAINST HELPING THE CLIMATE.

THAT IS NOT THE CASE. >> BUT WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT THE

IMPACT ON THE ECONOMY, YOU TALK ABOUT THE LOSS OF JOBS, YOU'RE

ECHOING WHAT THE PRESIDENT SAID IN THE ROSE GARDEN YESTERDAY,

AND I BELIEVE YOU'RE BOTH QUOTING FROM A SURVEY THAT WAS

CONDUCTED BACK IN 2005 THAT'S BEEN ROUNDRY CRITICIZED.

IT TOOK NUMBERS AND PLUGGED THEM IN IN THE WORST CASE SCENARIO IN

ABOUT EVERY ASPECT OF THE PARIS ACCORD AND CAME UP WITH A KIND

OF DOOMSDAY SCENARIO. YOU WOULDN'T USE THAT KIND OF

SURVEY IN THE WORLD OF BUSINESS. WOULD YOU?

>> YOU SHOULD KNOW WHAT YOUR DOWN SIDE IS.

THAT'S AN IMPORTANT THING, AND PARTICULARLY WHEN YOU'RE TRYING

TO FORECAST EVENTS MANY YEARS OUT INTO THE FUTURE, IT'S VERY,

VERY DIFFICULT TO BE ACCURATE. SO WHILE THERE MAY BE PEOPLE WHO

SAY THAT THIS PARTICULAR CASE IS THE DOWN SIDE CASE, THAT DOESN'T

MEAN THAT IT'S WRONG, AND IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT DIRECTIONALLY

IT ISN'T RIGHT. >> LET ME ASK YOU THIS,

SECRETARY ROSS. MANY MEMBERS OF THE PRESIDENT'S

INNER CIRCLE, I'M THINKING OF SECRETARY TILLERSON AND MATTIS,

WHO ARGUED FOR STAYING IN THE PARIS ACCORD AND ONE OF THE

REASONS THEY CAME UP WITH, IS THAT FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE IS

A MATTER OF NATIONAL SECURITY. SO BY PULLING OUT OF THE PARIS

ACCORDS, HAVE WE DAMAGED OUR NATIONAL SECURITY?

>> ABSOLUTELY NOT. THERE'S NOTHING THAT THE

WITHDRAWAL REQUIRES US TO DO THAT WE DON'T WANT TO DO.

THE COUNTRY HAS ACTUALLY REDUCED ITSS QUITE A LITTLE

BIT, LARGELY DUE TO GAS, HIGHER POLLUTE OF FOSSIL FUELS.

SO THE PRESIDENT HASN'T CHANGED ANY OF THAT.

HE IS AN ENVIRONMENTALIST. I'VE KNOWN HIM FOR A LONG TIME.

HE'S VERY PRO-ENVIRONMENT. >> HOW CAN YOU SAY HE'S AN

ENVIRONMENTALIST, WHEN HE'S ROLLED BACK MANY INITIATIVES OF

THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION, AND NOW HE'S BASICALLY TAKEN A

180-DEGREE TURN FROM WHAT THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION DID IN

SIGNING THIS PARIS ACCORD? >> WELL, YOU'RE TAKING AS THE

GIVEN THAT THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION WAS RIGHT AND ANY

OTHER ACTION WAS WRONG. >> WHAT ABOUT 195 OTHER

COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD? >> YEAH.

THOSE ARE THE COUNTRIES, AREN'T FRONT-ENDING BURDENS THE WAY WE

WERE ASKED TO DO. THIS AGREEMENT, AS I UNDERSTAND

IT, WOULD HAVE ALLOWED CHINA TO KEEP INCREASING ITS EMISSIONS

ALL THE WAY OUT UNTIL 2030. THAT'S HARDLY CLIMATE CONTROL.

WE WERE GIVING MONEY UP FRONT. THEY'RE ABLE TO CONTINUE

INCREASING THEIR EMISSIONS THROUGH 2030.

IS THAT A BALANCED DEAL? I DON'T THINK SO.

>> NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. IT WAS WEIGHTED IN DIFFERENT

WAYS FOR DIFFERENT COUNTRIES, BUT THE CHINESE HAD COMMITTED TO

REDUCING THEIR EMISSIONS BY ABOUT 60% AFTER 2030.

I'LL LEAVE IT ON THAT. WE'VE GOT A LOT OF MINUTIA WE

COULD

RESPONSIBLE FOR AT LEAST SIX

ARMED ROBBERIES ACROSS THE

THEM BY CHANCE, AND THEY ARE

SIX ARMED ROBBERIES WITH TOO

COMMON SUSPECTS.

OKLAHOMA CITY POLICE ARE USING

IDENTIFIED AS CHRISTOPHER

CARTER.

Joe: President Trump's Climate Decision Has Done Grave Damage Diplomatically | Morning Joe | MSNBC - Duration: 13:12.

>>> IN ORDER TO FULFILL MY SOLEMN DUTY TO PROTECT AMERICA

AND ITS CITIZENS, THE UNITED STATES WILL WITHDRAW FROM THE

PARIS CLIMATE ACCORD. THUS, AS OF TODAY, THE UNITED

STATES WILL CEASE ALL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE

NON-BINDING PARIS ACCORD AND THE DRACONIAN FINANCIAL AND ECONOMIC

BURDENS THE AGREEMENT IMPOSES ON OUR COUNTRY.

BUT BEGIN NEGOTIATIONS TO RE-ENTER EITHER THE PARIS ACCORD

OR AN ENTIRELY NEW TRANSACTION ON TERMS THAT ARE FAIR TO THE

UNITED STATES, ITS BUSINESSES, ITS WORKERS, ITS PEOPLE, ITS

TAXPAYERS. SO WE'RE GETTING OUT, BUT WE

WILL START TO NEGOTIATE, AND WE WILL SEE IF WE CAN MAKE A DEAL

THAT'S FAIR. IF WE CAN, THAT'S GREAT.

IF WE CAN'T, THAT'S FINE. THE SAME NATIONS ASKING US TO

STAY IN THE AGREEMENT ARE THE COUNTRIES THAT HAVE COLLECTIVELY

COST AMERICA TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS THROUGH TOUGH TRADE

PRACTICES. YOU SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING, IT'S

PRETTY OBVIOUS TO THOSE WHO WANT TO KEEP AN OPEN MIND.

AT WHAT POINT DOES AMERICA GET DEMEANED?

AT WHAT POINT DO THEY START LAUGHING AT US AS A COUNTRY?

WE DON'T WANT OTHER LEADERS AND OTHER COUNTRIES LAUGHING AT US

ANYMORE, AND THEY WON'T BE. I WAS ELECTED TO REPRESENT THE

CITIZENS OF PITTSBURGH, NOT PARIS.

>> YOU KNOW, ACTUALLY, THE GREAT IRONY IS THAT THEY ARE LAUGHING.

>> THEY'RE LAUGHING NOW. >> BUT THEY'RE NOT LAUGHING AT

AMERICA. THEY'RE LAUGHING AT DONALD

TRUMP. THE WORLD IS IN SHOCK.

>> I DON'T ACTUALLY THINK THEY'RE LAUGHING.

I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE IN EUROPE WHO, OF COURSE, WHEN

TRUMP WAS ELECTED THOUGHT THE WHOLE THING WAS A JOKE, NOW

THINK IT'S NOT SO MUCH SCARY AS SAD, THAT PEOPLE ARE DISMAYED AT

THE LACK OF AMERICAN LEADERSHIP ON WHAT IS PROBABLY THE MOST

FUNDAMENTAL ISSUE OF OUR TIME, CLIMATE CHANGE.

AND THERE'S A SENSE OF REAL SADNESS IN EUROPE ABOUT WHAT IS

HAPPENING TO AMERICAN GLOBAL LEADERSHIP.

>> WE WERE SPEAKING AT THE GERMAN EMBASSY LAST NIGHT AND

THIS CAME UP, AND THE AUDIENCE

OF REALLY ACCOMPLISHED WOMEN WERE ALL SHAKING THEIR HEADS.

THEY HAD A LOOK OF A MIXTURE OF HORROR AND DISGUST ON THEIR

FACE, AS PERTAINS TO TRUMP AND EVERYTHING.

>> LET'S PUT IT IN PERSPECTIVE. A LOT OF PEOPLE MAY DISAGREE

WITH ME. THERE WAS SO MUCH HYPERBOLE

FLYING AROUND YESTERDAY ON THE RIGHT, ON THE FAR RIGHT, ON

DONALD TRUMP IN TRUMP LAND, THE HYPERBOLE THAT IT WAS TAKING

AWAY OUR SOVEREIGNTY. IT'S VOLUNTARY.

WE SET THE GOALS FOR OURSELF. IT WAS A DEVICE TO TRY TO GET

COUNTRIES LIKE CHINA AND INDIA WHO ARE NOW DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

TO ACTUALLY ALSO SET GUIDELINES. IT'S VOLUNTARY.

THERE WAS NO SOVEREIGNTY LOSS BY THIS, THAT'S WHY IT WAS STUPID

TO GET OUT BECAUSE IT WAS VOLUNTARY.

THE UNITED STATES HAS ALREADY STARTED MAKING GREAT STRIDES

TOWARDS REDUCING CARBON EMISSIONS.

THAT'S THE FIRST THING. THE SECOND THING IS, THE

SUGGESTION THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HURT THE UNITED STATES

ECONOMY IS JUST ANOTHER LIE. IT'S JUST -- IT'S VOLUNTARY.

THERE'S A REASON WHY GARY COHN ON THE INSIDE, THE GUY THAT RAN

GOLDMAN SACHS SAID LET'S STAY IN, THERE'S A REASON GE SAID

LET'S STAY IN, A REASON WHY CEOs FROM EXXON SAID LET'S STAY IN, A

REASON WHY MOST OF THE LEADERS OF SILICON VALLEY SAID LET'S

STAY IN. IT'S NOT BAD IN THE LONG RUN FOR

THE ECONOMY, IT'S GOOD IN THE LONG RUN.

>> LLOYD BLANKFEIN'S FIRST TWEET EVER.

>> LLOYD BLANKFEIN AT GOLDMAN SACHS.

I HAVE TO SAY, IF YOU WANT TO STRIP IT DOWN -- THE HYPERBOLE,

THIS IS THE DAY THE WORLD CAME TO AN END.

NO. THIS IS HYPERBOLE.

IF YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HYPERBOLE THAT IS, YOU SEE WHAT

SOME OF THE MOST PROGRESSIVE THOUGHT LEADERS WERE SAYING

ABOUT THE PARIS ACCORDS WHEN THEY WERE FIRST PASSED, THAT

THEY'RE TOOTHLESS, THAT THEY'RE NOT GOING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE,

IT'S SYMBOLISM MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE.

THE PERSON -- WILLIE GEIST TALKS ABOUT THIS ALL THE TIME, A

FRIEND OF HIS ONE OF THE FOREMOST CLIMATE SCIENTISTS WHO

CAME UP WITH THE THEORY OF GREENHOUSE GASES.

I REMEMBER HIM SHOWING ME THE E-MAIL THE MORNING AFTER PARIS

WAS SIGNED. HE SAID THIS IS A BUNCH OF BS.

EXCEPT HE DIDN'T SAY BS. ABSOLUTE GARBAGE.

THESE WERE VOLUNTARY GUIDELINES SET.

GENE, THE IMPACT OF THIS, AT LEAST AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED --

MAYBE PEOPLE THINK IT'S GOING TO BE "THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW" AND

FLORIDA IS GOING TO DISAPPEAR IN A COUPLE WEEKS.

THEY DON'T HELP THEIR CAUSE. THERE ARE TWO HUGE TAKEAWAYS.

NUMBER ONE, THE DAMAGE DONE TO US IS GRAVE DIPLOMATICALLY,

ACROSS EUROPE ESPECIALLY. DIPLOMATICALLY IT'S GRAVE AND

EUROPEANS DO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE UNITED STATES WITHDRAWING

FROM THE WORLD, AND THEY ARE VERY CONCERNED.

THEY'RE GOING TO FOLLOW UP ON WHAT MERKEL SAID LAST WEEK,

THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE TO LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR LEADERSHIP.

SECONDLY, AND I THINK MORE DISTURBINGLY, EVEN, IF YOU CAN

BELIEVE IT, THIS PROVES THAT DONALD TRUMP DOES NOT GIVE A

DAMN ABOUT THE WORLD, HE DOES NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE UNITED

STATES AS A WHOLE. HE CARES ABOUT HIS CORE 38%, AND

THIS IS THE STEVE BANNON EFFECT, THE SHORTSIGHTED STUPIDITY

YOU'RE GOING TO FOCUS ON YOUR 38% TO THE EXCLUSION OF THE REST

OF THE COUNTRY. >> WELCOME TO THE BIZARRE NEW

NORMAL. >> AND WELCOME TO NANCY PELOSI

BEING SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE. >> IN TERMS OF THE ACTUAL IMPACT

ON CARBON EMISSIONS OF WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY, IT WAS NIL.

WE WERE NEVER GOING TO MAKE THE PARIS TARGETS UNDER DONALD TRUMP

TO BEGIN WITH, RIGHT? BECAUSE HE'S TRYING TO REVIVE

COAL, TRYING TO PUMP MORE OIL AND GAS.

BUT THE ABDICATION OF AMERICAN LEADERSHIP IS A HUGE DEAL.

I THINK WE'LL LOOK BACK ON YESTERDAY AS A VERY, VERY BIG

DEAL. >> IN TERMS OF AMERICAN

LEADERSHIP. >> IN TERMS OF AMERICAN

LEADERSHIP, THE WITHDRAWAL, AND IT MEANS SOMEBODY'S GOT TO STEP

UP. >> JEREMY, HOLD ON.

WE HAVE THE LEADERS OF FRANCE, GERMANY AND ITALY ISSUING A

JOINT STATEMENT SAYING THE PATH LAID OUT IN THEN THE ACCORD IS,

QUOTE, IRREVERSIBLE AND WE FIRMLY BELIEVE THE PARIS

AGREEMENT CANNOT BE RENEGOTIATED.

>> I REAFFIRM CLEARLY THAT THE PARIS AGREEMENT REMAINS

IRREVERSIBLE AND WILL BE IMPLEMENTED, NOT JUST BY FRANCE,

BUT BY ALL THE OTHER NATIONS. WE WILL SUCCEED BECAUSE WE ARE

FULLY COMMITTED, BECAUSE WHEREVER WE LIVE, WHEREVER WE

ARE, WE ALL SHARE THE SAME RESPONSIBILITY.

MAKE OUR PLANET GREAT AGAIN. >> ALSO REACTING YESTERDAY TO

TRUMP'S DECISION WAS GERMAN CHANCELLOR ANGELA MERKEL'S MAIN

COMPETITOR IN THE UPCOMING ELECTION, MARTIN SCHULTZ WHO HAS

BEEN OUTSPOKEN IN HIS DISTASTE FOR TRUMP TWEETING, YOU CAN

WITHDRAW FROM A CLIMATE AGREEMENT, BUT NOT FROM CLIMATE

CHANGE. MR. TRUMP, REALITY ISN'T JUST

ANOTHER STATEMENT YOU SHOVE AWAY.

THERE'S THAT. >> IF YOU THINK ABOUT THIS AS A

MINI BREXIT FOR TRUMP, I THINK THAT'S HOW THEY SEE THIS IN THE

WHITE HOUSE. THIS IS ANOTHER SPOKE OUT OF THE

WHEEL OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY.

THEY SEE THIS AS A WAY OF DISMANTLING A POST WORLD WAR II

ORDER IN WHICH THERE WAS A GLOBAL COMMUNITY AND THERE WERE

GLOBAL CITIZENS THAT WERE A PART OF THE COMMUNITY THAT HAVE A

MORAL RESPONSIBILITY TO LEAD. THAT'S JUST NOT HOW THEY SEE THE

WORLD. THE PROBLEM WITH THAT, OF

COURSE, IT ALLOWS FRANCE AND GERMANY AND OTHER EUROPEAN

LEADERS TO STEP INTO THAT VACUUM. CUUM.

>> AND MORE IMPORTANT CHINA. >> CHINA IS STEPPING UP AND

SAYING, OKAY, THEY HAVE THE BIGGEST SOLAR PANEL INDUSTRY IN

THE WORLD BY FAR ALREADY. THEY'RE GOING TO TAKE THE LEAD

IN CLEAN ENERGY TECHNOLOGY AND WE'RE NOT.

>> IT'S MORE THAN JUST CLIMATE. I THINK CLIMATE WAS THE THIRD

PLACE WHERE CHINA HAS GOT A HUGE OPENING NOW.

FIRST WAS TRADE. SECOND WAS SECURITY, THE

PRESIDENT COMES HOME FROM HIS TRIP AND BASICALLY SENDS THE

MESSAGE THAT SECURITY ORDER IS GOING TO BE DIFFERENT.

THOSE THREE ARE PILLARS OF INTERNATIONAL ORDER WHERE THE

UNITED STATES WAS FIRST AMONG EQUALS IN THE WEST.

THE PRESIDENT DOES NOT WANT THAT KIND OF WORLD AND IS IT GOING TO

MAKE THE LIFE BETTER FOR PEOPLE IN THE UNITED STATES?

TODAY DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THAT TO THE REST OF THE WORLD AND TO A

LOT OF PEOPLE. >> KATTY, TO FOLLOW UP ON WHAT

YOU SAID, THERE IS IN EUROPE A GREAT FEAR AND ALMOST A MOURNING

THAT THE UNITED STATES IS WITHDRAWING, THAT TRUMP IS

JUST -- NOT FROM PARIS, BUT FROM EUROPE, FROM THE RELATIONSHIP

WE'VE HAD FOR OVER 50 YEARS. >> I THINK THERE IS A

REALIZATION IN EUROPE NOW THAT THE BOMBING IN SYRIA WAS A KIND

OF ABERRATION IN TRUMP'S FOREIGN POLICY, PEOPLE THOUGHT TRUMP WAS

NOT GOING TO BE THE ISOLATIONIST PRESIDENT, AND THEN THE

COMBINATION OF THE TRIP TO EUROPE AS MARK WAS SAYING AND

WITHDRAWING IMMEDIATELY FROM THE PARIS ACCORD, NOT JUST

WITHDRAWING FROM IT, BUT THE LANGUAGE HE USED YESTERDAY

WAS -- SMACKED SO MUCH OF THAT INAUGURAL ADDRESS.

WE WERE WAY BACK IN THE DARK DAYS WHERE THE REST OF THE WORLD

IS OUT TO GET AMERICA, IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF AMERICA, AND I WILL

NEVER LET THEM. >> AGAIN, IT'S STEVE BANNON BACK

IN POWER AT THE WHITE HOUSE AND BANNON --

>> WITH JARED BEING UNDER SCRUTINY.

>> JARED BEING UNDER SCRUTINY AND BANNON IS HELL-BENT IN

MAKING SURE THAT 38% OF AMERICANS LOVE DONALD TRUMP.

HE'S GOING TO GET HIS WISH. 38% OF AMERICANS WILL LOVE

DONALD TRUMP AND NANCY PELOSI WILL BE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE.

IF DONALD TRUMP RUNS FOR RE-ELECTION HE WILL GET WIPED

OFF THE MAP. >> RICHARD HAASS TWEETED ABOUT

THE PARIS NEWS. HE SAYS WITH TPP AND PARIS

WITHDRAWS AND NATO UNCERTAINTY, U.S. FOREIGN POLICY AND HEALTH

CARE POLICY INCREASINGLY ONE IN THE SAME, REPEAL WITHOUT

REPLACE. MIKE BARNICLE, THE PRESIDENT'S

FOREIGN POLICY TEAM, WOULDN'T THEY HAVE SOME CONCERNS ABOUT

THE SYMBOLISM OF THE PAST 24 HOURS?

>> MIKA, YESTERDAY WAS SAD, IT WAS DEPRESSING, IT WAS CYNICAL,

IT WAS A VERBAL PORTRAIT FILLED WITH HALF TRUTHS AND NO TRUTHS,

A VERBAL PORTRAIT OF AMERICA IN RETREAT PLAYED OUT BY A MAN WITH

LITTLE UNDERSTANDING OF HISTORY OR OUR ROLE IN THE WORLD STAGE,

AND FOR THAT 38%, ALL I CAN SAY IS GET READY, 38% TRUMP

SUPPORTERS, TO BUY SOLAR PANELS MADE IN CHINA AT HOME DEPOT IN

ABOUT TEN YEARS. THAT'S WHAT WE'RE LOOKING

FORWARD TO. >> AND COMING UP, WE'RE GOING TO

GO LIVE TO RUSSIA WHERE NBC'S KEIR SIMMONS TRACKED DOWN SERGEI

GOROKHOV, THE RUSSIAN STATE

BANKER. >> IS THAT THE GUY JARED MET

WITH? >> IS IT CALLED SPY SCHOOL?

>> WE'LL BE RIGHT
