Brand Name vs. Generic - ASAPScience parody - Duration: 2:30.Sometimes we have to choose a good red wine but we have a lot of choice.
So how can we make this hard decision?
We've made this video comparsion between the two most important red wine in Italy and
all over the world: LA BUONA VENDEMMIA and the GOTTO D'ORO.
You've maybe heard other red wine names such as the Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti,
Tavernello, but these ones are too much expensive and they are not so great in terms of price
performance.
This is my own opinion made by years of experience and Erasmus selvagge in Italy.
So what wine is better between LA BUONA VENDEMMIA and the GOTTO D'ORO?
Both wines are very good, made following the italian tradition, and you can find them only
in the best supermarket.
You can find the Gotto d'oro at the Auchan of Rescaldina at the price of 1 euro and 26
cents per 5 liters while you can find the buona vendemmia at the Carrefour of Paderno
Dugnano at a price of 65 cents per liter.
The Buona vendemmia is available as red and white wine while the Gotto d'oro has no
red wine and it's available only as white and rose wine.
Buona Vendemmia in italian means "good harvest" and it's good to take on the lunch or dinner
a good wine that says "have a good harvest" to everybody.
This wine is available in tetra pack with no easy open like the more expensives wines,
like the red wine of carrefour, so you have to cut the paper to open it.
While the gotto d'oro has a plastic tap but i think it's better to have no plastic tap
and hard things but a good taste.
Buona Vendemmia tastes good, you can feel the sensation of flavouring, red berries,
and something that italians call "ghiacciolo al tamarindo".
And remember that from a buona vendemmia it can only get better.

Improve Your Vocabulary | Study Tips | Grow your Vocabulary - Duration: 5:29.Hello my Socratica friends!
We're here to help you be a great student.
Today we're going to talk about how to improve your vocabulary.
Building your vocabulary is essential if you want to communicate your ideas effectively.
It will help you write better papers, do better on tests, and even improve your thinking overall.
If you can perfectly describe a problem, you are that much closer to solving it.
The best place to improve your vocabulary is right here, in the library.
All the words you could ever dream of using are found in these books.
As a student, you read textbooks, but be sure to read for pleasure as well.
Read widely, read deep.
Read that entire series of vampire novels!
Read a fashion magazine!
Read the back of your cereal box!
When you're reading and you come across a word you don't know, don't ignore it.
Underline it.
This is your big chance!
You may be able to figure out the gist of what it means from the context.
But you may not have deduced the EXACT meaning of the word.
And lots of times, a word has more than one meaning.
That's why you should look up these unfamiliar words in a dictionary.
Don't let it interrupt your reading - unless you REALLY can't guess the meaning of a
word from the context, in which case, go ahead and pick up that dictionary.
Otherwise, save up all your unknown words for when you're finished reading that passage
or that chapter.
Find your unknown word in the dictionary, read the definitions, and read the sample
sentences.
If you're reading something technical, your book may have a glossary at the end, which
is a short dictionary of specialized terms used in that field.
You can use online dictionaries, but it's nice to have an actual dictionary that you
can make notes in.
I like to highlight the word I'm looking up.
That way, if I ever find myself looking up a word more than once, I know I need to do
a little bit more to follow up, so I don't forget that word again.
Just reading a definition once in a dictionary probably won't be enough.
So what can you do to really master the words you look up?
Some people like to keep a word journal, and write down in a notebook all the words they
look up with brief definitions.
I like to use flashcards instead.
I put one word on each card, and that way they can be shuffled and reviewed, and put
into different piles as I master the words.
If I make a list instead, I'm stuck with just reading the whole list over and over,
and it's not as effective for me.
Make sure your definitions are vivid so you can easily remember them.
For example, this word tarantism means "an uncontrollable urge to dance."
That reminds me of the tarantella, and a tarantula dancing!
For extra credit, I recommend also looking up your word in a thesaurus.
That's where you'll find synonyms, words that mean the same, and antonyms, words that
mean the opposite.
Careful, because there are often nuances in the meanings of these words.
One word will make more sense in certain contexts compared to another.
But it will help you create a kind of "word cloud" of related words.
That will help you recall these words a lot better than if you had to remember them individually.
Another way to improve your vocabulary is to focus on word roots.
If you learn some basic word roots in Latin and Greek, as well as some prefixes and suffixes,
you can decipher many words.
I know, that sounds intimidating - you're trying to learn English and now I'm telling
you to learn Greek AND Latin as well.
You don't have to learn ALL of Greek and Latin, just the parts that were stolen by
English!
For example, you can break down the word translucent into two parts, trans and lucent.
Trans means through in Latin (like...transit), and Lucent comes from lucere, which means
means to shine in Latin.
We use the word translucent to refer to anything that light can shine through.
Prefixes and suffixes are really useful here.
The Pre in prefix means before - and it refers to the part of the word that comes before
the root.
"Precede" means to go before.
Ante (with an e) also means before.
For example, antediluvian means before the flood.
Antebellum means before the civil war (before the big fight).
Post means after.
Like Post script (PS) means what you write AFTER the main part of your letter.
peri means around.
Periscope is something you use to look around.
The Perimeter is the line you can draw AROUND the border.
And finally - don't forget the power of gamification.
There are so many word games out there - from the old standbys like Scrabble or crossword
puzzles, to games you can play on your phone.
These all help you be more aware of all the words out there, just waiting for you to use
them.
Remember, having a great vocabulary is an important part of being a GREAT student.

How Remixes Hijack Your Brain - Duration: 10:01.I hope you're ready to travel back in time.
Here's an idea: Remixes hijack your brain.
There are some ideas, based in science, that explain why.
[BrainCraft intro]
In mid 2016, you were reminded that... you're an allstar when Smash Mouth's hit song from
1999 saw a sudden resurgence.
All-Star became a popular remix meme and videos like this started sprouting up.
This guy from New Jersey, Jon Sudano, creates covers of various songs only with the lyrics
to All-Star.
This Japanese creator played the song just using calculators.
Very quickly, All-Star went from a 90s earworm to an artistic medium.
This extra meaning and relevance was generated by the audience, where disparate individuals
interacted to create together.
My last videos explored the Neuroscience of Creativity and practical tips to be more creative.
This video will look at creativity through the lens of the remix.
And by remix I mean a new work that is composed of reorganised or reinterpreted pieces of
an existing work.
Like a video meme such as All-Star, an auto-tuned song, a supercut or a mashup.
And there's one thing all of these formats have in common: We love to watch them.
So… why?
Why is it so enjoyable to watch something you've probably already seen or heard being
reproduced in a new way?
At the heart of the remix is the idea of participatory creativity, where what we call creativity
is not the product of single individuals, but of social systems.
Imagine the creator is part of a system of influences and information, and what they
produce is a novel variation of ideas already floating around in that system.
Right now, you're in one of these systems… on YouTube.
One of the best ways to understand human creativity today is by studying the internet.
Broadcasting used to be one of those hard to access and incredibly difficult to get
into mediums.
The internet, with all its distractions and blinking animated GIFs and pictures of cute
cats, has given rise to this particular and particularly easy to digest format.
YouTube has been called a remix culture, "in which youth, operating collectively, combine
existing material to produce their own work."
Through this culture, a collective intelligence emerges, a group intelligence that comes from
the collaboration of many individuals.
Collective intelligence and participatory creativity fuel each other.
We generate more ideas and influences into the system and more work comes out of it.
Creativity is often seen as a mental process, but it's also a social and cultural event
as much as a psychological one.
Because together, we can
"build a happy little cloud.
Let's build some happy little trees"
So why is it so enjoyable to watch something being reproduced in a new way?
Well, the repetition of the remix and a familiarity with the original content makes it particularly
easy to digest.
At the core of this is cognitive fluency–it's a measure of how easy it is to think about
something.
Your brain is drawn to information it can fluently process.
Let's build a happy little cloud.
And the remix appeals to our sense of nostalgia.
"Let's build some happy little trees" Nostalgia is a complex human emotion – research
has found songs that make us feel nostalgic hold disproportionate power over our emotions.
Nostalgia makes you feel better about yourself.
More research found that feeling nostalgic can make us feel physically warmer.
It makes you feel like you can...
Just do it.
In 2015, more than any other year, it was particularly hard to avoid Shia LaBeouf.
This full thirty-one-minute compilation video was created for a show at a London art school
and because the green screen footage was designed to be easily manipulable, professional remixers
around the world sprung to action.
The original instructions from the art school weren't intended to be humorous, but the
funny remixes were how we chose to participate.
And the appeal for us to watch the remixes was in their absurdity.
We find things funny when they don't match our implicit assumptions – This is known
as incongruity theory, where comedy is derived from an unexpected cognitive encounter between
two incongruent or unexpected elements.
In these videos Shia is wild and robotic yet appears to interact with the environments
he's placed in.
To our brains it makes sense, yet is completely unexpected.
This motivational speech became, arguably, the most popular art piece of the year.
And at this point, you may be wondering:
Why should anybody care about this in the first place?
Well, the remix can have a big impact.
In 2011, the remix "Zenga Zenga" was a rare criticism within Libya of it's then
leader Gaddafi or his four-decade rule.
And this critique only used his own words and actions to do the critique.
It was just remixed and autotuned.
The creator, Noy Alooshe, said Gaddafi had been well known for his eccentricities, which
had made him seem relatable.
He then said, "After the remix, after the 'Zenga Zenga,' it became the opposite
. . . he became like a cartoon, you know?"
"It changed the way people think about Gaddafi"
Now, no world leader can escape from the remixes that accompany election cycles, political
events and continued protest.
A supercut in the language of the original creator can strengthen an argument or make
it more compelling.
We see a narrative form from disparate works, that's often mesmerizing in the scope of
material involved.
This remix often plays to our confirmation biases – with no commentary we interpret
the information in a way that confirms our preexisting beliefs.
Many supercuts provide hard evidence of the existence of tropes long suspected but never
quite proved
The point of Sorkinisms is much stronger than me telling you, "Aaron Sorkin uses the same
phrases."
Or that, "Alex Trebek is a stickler for accuracy".
My argument is accentuated by just showing you the evidence.
The repetition is the most convincing and compelling way to make a point.
The repetition is the most convincing and compelling way to make a point.
Remixes hijack our brains because we crave repetitive, easy-to-digest pieces of media.
We get an emotional boost from humour and nostalgia, and love finding evidence that
confirms something we've long suspected or already believe.
Remixing is the language of the internet – The products of this participatory creativity
are just as wonderful, curious and even confusing as we are.
And it's a new way our voices can be heard.
So… consider the power of the remix.
Go on.
Just do it.

CONCLUSION: How to Sell an Amazon Affiliate Niche Site for $235,000 pt2 - Affiliate Site Case Study - Duration: 11:13.This video is about a niche site that I sold for $235,000 in 2017.
And this is part 2 so be sure to check out part 1 if you haven't seen it.
I'm Doug Cunnington, from Niche Site Project, I talk about Amazon niche sites, productivity,
and project mgmt
I was brought in to help this website improve its traffic and profits so we could sell it
for $500,000 (text appears)
I told you all in part 1 that with my background in project management and internet marketing,
I created a plan for us, called Project Go White Hat (text appears, ding).
We had 3 basic steps for this plan: ("1.
Guest Writers" appears; ding) Replace all of the Personal Blog Network links with "guest
writer" links.
("2.
Improve content" appears; ding) Improve the existing content
("3.
Keyword Golden Ratio" appears; ding) Add more content that is Keyword Golden Ratio
Compliant
For more details on that, check out Episode 1.
But for now, I want to tell you what happened next, because of course, we hit our first
big bump:
We had serious Negative SEO problems.
Negative SEO (Text appears) is essentially when competitors are creating backlinks to
your niche site that violate google's rules, resulting in google penalizing you and your
site.
It's a way some sites use to hurt the competition.
NOT COOL
Our site was getting tons of negative SEO, meaning the competition was hitting us hard
with terrible links.
So, we started closely monitoring that problem.
At the same time, we started working on our guest posting campaign, to help get rid of
those Private Blog Network links we were working to reduce. and those backlinks don't violate
Google's rules
We had 10 new guest posts ready to publish, sent out to various bloggers and editors,
when I realized we had a big problem.
7 out of 10 of these posts contained what's called Exact Match Anchor Text (Text appears,
maybe in big red letters).
Anchor Text is just the hyperlink that is clickable in an article or on a website.
Think of the words that link to another website when you click on them, they're often blue
(example text appears, most likely nichesiteproject.com), that's anchor text.
Using Exact Match Anchor Text means that they were using links that were an "exact match"
to the content, like linking to a webpage on dog collars (image of a dog collar appears)
by using the clickable words "dog collars" (text appears).
This kind of backlinking can cause issues with google, and can result in your site getting
penalized for having "unnatural links," (text appears) just like Negative SEO.
Essentially, we were accidentally setting ourselves up to be penalized.
To be honest, this was largely my fault-- I hadn't confirmed that my writing team
and outreach manager were aware of avoiding Exact Match Anchor Text, so this was a learning
moment for me, as well as for our niche site and team.
We had already sent out the articles to other websites to be published, they were all ready
to go, and I knew we were about to cause ourselves a lot more problems by allowing them to be
published as is.
I had to think fast.
We decided to contact each of the bloggers and editors who were about to publish our
content, and ask them to publish a new version of the article.
It was risky, but it was worth it to hopefully avoid some of the hassles that would happen
if we published 7 new articles with Exact Match Anchor Text.
We didn't get to change them all, but 4 out of 7 used the updated version of the articles,
which meant a lot less Exact Match Anchor Text making its way out there.
We were relieved.
So then it was time to focus on our next set of challenges.
We survived our first major hiccup, and we had handled it well.
We knew we were still in good shape, and could continue moving forward.
We were ready to keep improving our website and getting it ready to sell.
We decided to take massive action (text on screen) to improve our site.
Here's what we did.
We improved the content
We identified that there were 8 pages that were actually providing us with most of our
profit.
We hired excellent writers to expand and improve each of these pages, which greatly improved
our traffic and profit.
It's amazing what a difference having better quality content will do, and by figuring out
which pages were actually bringing us a profit, we didn't have to commit to a complete overhaul
of every page on the website, only the ones that were already making us a profit.
The next thing we did as part of this massive action was
We got rid of those Personal Blog Network (text appears) links, or "PBNs" (text
appears)
We focused on getting more guest writer content on the site.
We hired writers, which can seem like a big cost, but in the long run will almost always
end up paying off.
We needed to get rid of 45 PBNs (text appears) and we committed to getting rid of 15 PBNs
a month (text appears), which was an achievable goal that would make a big impact long-term.
We also decided to add 60 new pages of content (text appears) to help continue to boost traffic
and profits.
We saw great improvements with these steps-- our profits were steadily going up, we made
$10,000 in September; $14,000 in October, and $19,000 in November! (text appears on
screen) we were making great progress on our goal to be able to sell this site (graph appears
during this).
Our steps were working!
But, naturally, we were about to run into another big problem.
The content team.
Now, to start off with our writing team was doing great.
We were producing and improving content (text appears), and they were writing our guest
posts too (text appears) too.
I hired a team of freelance writers (text appears; ding)to do the articles and a content
manager(text appears; ding) to help edit, proofread, and get the articles ready for
publication.
When we started out, we were doing great!
The writing team was producing about 30 articles a week(text appears; ding).
That's a good rate for a website our size!
However, pretty quickly that started to fall apart.
Their rate slowed down steadily to around 7 articles per week(text appears; buzzer),
and when I asked the content manager what was going on he kept putting me off.
I wasn't getting the information I needed, and meanwhile, this was the week before Christmas
(some sort of image or graph w/ sound effect)
So I had to take action.
First, I made attainable goals for the writing team.
Instead of giving them one big assignment of publishing 35 posts, I instead asked them
to work toward getting 4 posts a week published.
This made their work more manageable and helped them see it as a process, rather than a finish
line.
I hired 3 new writers to help our writing team out with producing more content including
the guest posts.
Sometimes, you have to be willing to invest more money short term for it to pay off long
term.
So, you might be wondering, "did it work??"
Yep.
We were able to improve the guest posting rate(text or graph; ding), but were still
behind schedule.
So, a positive, but not necessarily a complete solution.
Luckily, hiring additional writers did solve our content problem, we were able to meet
our content goals (text or graph; ding) and produce more articles.
However, we still had a lot of work to do.
We decided to hire an outreach team (text; ding).
This was essentially a few people who we hired exclusively to build relationships with bloggers
(text; ding) and get guest posts published (text; ding).
These folks are different from writers, because instead of creating content, their entire
focus is on getting it out there.
Having both kinds of people on your team can be a really valuable asset and save you a
lot of time.
So we were feeling really good! (thumbs up image or something similar on screen; ding)
we had solved a lot of problems, and we were steadily improving.
However, if you've been following this story, you know that means that things were about
to go wrong again.
If you already run an amazon niche site, you might know that Amazon changed their commission
structure (text on screen) in March 2017.
When this took effect, it wasn't great for us, or most niche sites.
Most people I talked to experienced a 34-48% revenue reduction (text appears; buzzer),
so all things considered we actually got off kind of easy with about a 35% revenue reduction
(text appears).
But still, that was pretty hard to take after putting in all of this work over the past
several months.
We had done amazing work.
We had increased our revenue by 320% (text appears; ding)....
In 4 months! (text appears; ding)
But this change in Amazon's structure really changed everything for us.
We realized that we could spend countless more hours and dollars on trying to sell this
site for $500,000, or we could accept that the rules of the game had changed, and we
could move forward accordingly.
We agreed to finish out our plan for improving the site, and then posted it for sale, and
try for the best price we could get, knowing it definitely wouldn't be $500,000.
We ended up selling our site for $235,000 (text appears)!
Now, I know some of you are definitely thinking, "wow Doug, you said you were going to sell
this site for $500,000, that is definitely not $500,000, why are you celebrating?"
The answer is actually pretty simple.
We accomplished what we wanted to with the site (text appears; ding); we sold the site
for a good profit (text appears; ding); and I honestly learned so much in this process
(text appears; ding).
Sometimes, things change, like the Amazon commission rules, but I know that being able
to adapt quickly and effectively is what makes me and my sites successful.
And now, I'm armed even better for the next challenge I decide to take on.
Hopefully, you feel a little better armed too after watching this video series, to keep
working on improving your niche sites, or to start a new one!
I know these guidelines will really help you increase and improve your traffic and revenue.

How to Sell an Amazon Affiliate Niche Site for $235,000 pt 1 - My Affiliate Site Case Study - Duration: 7:13.This video is about a niche site that I sold for $235,000 in 2017.
It was a 10 month project...but it's more complicated than that...
I'm Doug Cunnington, from Niche Site Project, I talk about Amazon niche sites, productivity,
and project mgmt
I'm going to be talking you through this crazy roller coaster of a journey.
We built up, adapted, and improved a niche site that we wanted to sell for $500,000 (text
appears).
Which sounds crazy to say outloud!
Now, some of you may be wondering, "what the heck is a niche site (question mark appears),
and how can it be worth $500,000?
($500,000 appears in front of question mark, perhaps add a second question mark like "$500,000??")
so here's some basics to get us into this story:
An Amazon Niche Site (text on screen) is a website that makes profit by linking readers
and consumers to buying amazon products.
Essentially, if you lead someone directly to an Amazon page for pruning shears (image
appears) linked through an article called "10 Best Ways to Care for Your Rose Garden"
(text appears) and that person buys those pruning shears, Amazon will give you a small
cut of the profit.
When you multiply that by hundreds or thousands or even hundreds of thousands of people doing
that overtime, you can end up with a nice chunk of change.
(money cha-ching sound?)
So how do they work?
Amazon niche sites use buyer keywords (text appears) to get people to click on their sites--
for example if you search "best pruning shears" (text appears) you will likely get
linked to sites with gardening stuff & information (maybe pop up images of gardening supplies,
etc).
A lot of these sites will be amazon niche sites, and when you click on a link inside
that leads you to a tool on amazon (image of a tool on screen), you know that niche
website will be getting a small portion of the money you spend.
So, the buyer keywords need to be words that consumers are going to be using regularly,
that the average person will put into their google search.
There is a whole art and science to choosing and optimizing keywords, and you can learn
more about that over at my website (link text on screen), or checking out the Keyword Golden
Ratio but for now, back to our story about this specific niche website.
So, niche websites are designed to make a profit off of people using them to buy amazon
products.
However, not all (and honestly not most) of the Amazon niche websites out there actually
make decent money, and even the ones that do are always looking to improve their profits.
That's where someone like me comes in.
I'm an experienced internet marketer, with expertise on increasing traffic and profits
for niche websites.
Traffic (text appears) is just how many people are clicking on and reading through a website
each day.
The more people who click in, the more likely they are to end up buying a product and giving
us a profit.
So, this niche site that we're talking about was started by a friend of mine, Rob.
He wanted some help to increase the revenue & profit.
Little did we all know that we were in for a bumpy ride.
So let me give you some background on this niche website:
(Some version of the bold words should appear on screen)
This website was making around $10,000 a month, so already making a nice profit
It was already ranking well in google's buyer keywords (some sort of text/image perhaps
"Google's Buyer Keywords: A+") ranking; meaning the site was already using effective
keywords, and getting good traffic It only had around 45 pages of content, so
it wasn't an enormous site, and The majority of the traffic was really only
clicking on a few of the pages-- in fact, 80% of the traffic was only hitting 7 of the
pages out of those 45
So, obviously we had some good things going for us.
However, there were still some hurdles to jump over before we could consider selling
this site, especially before we could consider trying to sell it for $500,000.
Spoiler alert - we failed as you can gather from the title of this video.
Here are some of the things we had to consider:
There were tons of Private Blog Network (text on screen) links on the site.
A Private Blog Network is essentially (text of definition on screen) a series of websites
that someone owns.
This can be tricky on a website you're trying to sell, because this is against the Google
Webmaster guidelines.
It's Gray hat as they say in the SEO World.
Some of the links we had on the site were actually on a paid network, (text appears)
which meant we were paying monthly fees on them (which is a hard selling point for most
buyers)
So, knowing all of this, Rob was looking to improve the site's traffic and profit to
the point where they could reasonably sell it for $500,000, So Rob asked me if I wanted
to partner up.
SO!
What do we do with all of this information?
Well, based on my background in project management, I made a game plan.
And I called that game plan,
Project Go White Hat. (cool graphic)
Essentially, our site was filled with "Gray Hats" links (text: "gray hats" appears;
buzzer) -- backlinks that violate the Google Webmaster Terms of Service and made it hard
to sell our amazon niche site.
Our basic goal was to eliminate the links (in ideal world, we put big X over words gray
hats), and instead add backlinks with guest posting.
Google is fine with guest posting and doesn't violate the Google Webmaster Guidelines.
It's "White Hat" as they say (text "white hats" appears; ding).
So we came up with 3 goals to make that possible: (Use words "Number One" etc.)
("1.
Guest Writers" appears; ding) Replace all of the Personal Blog Network links with "guest
post" links that are white hat.
("2.
Improve content" appears; ding) Improve the existing content-- we wanted to make sure
that every part of this website was the best it could be before trying to sell it for a
profit, and ("3.
Keyword Golden Ratio" appears; ding) Add more content that is Keyword Golden Ratio
Compliant.
The ratio is this…The number of Google results that have the keyword phrase in the title
divided by the local monthly search volume, where the LMS is less than 250.
If the KGR is less than 0.25, then you should rank in the top 100 when your page is indexed.
You should still rank in the top 250 when the KGR is between 0.25 and 1.
And it should be pretty fast.
(Ideally we'd have some sort of visual to help us with this-- step by step the words
should appear as the equation, and then….)
(Scribble or "X" appears over whole formula) But don't worry too much about the details
of what the Keyword Golden Ratio is right now, just know that we were working to improve
the site across the board, including in our use of keywords.
So, now we had a plan!
We were ready to start working to make this site even more profitable and ready to sell
for 6 figures.
Check out my next episode to see what kind of challenges we were facing, and what we
decided to do about them.
You'll hear about how we were struggling with competitors' Negative SEO (Text appears),
a problem for Amazon niche sites, and how we accidentally almost gave ourselves big
problems with Exact Match Anchor Text, another potentially problematic piece of a niche website
that many website owners, especially new owners, fall into.
I can't wait to tell you guys more about this website.
Though I can't share the site since we sold it and that'd be totally unprofessional
and not cool to the new owners.
