You might have come across articles like How to Make Friends Using Your Reptilian Brain

or Overcome Your Reptile Brain to Lose Weight.

And if they seemed to make a lot of sense…

Well, I'm sorry to be a spoilsport,

but the idea that humans have a primitive reptile brain deep down there somewhere is largely false.

It is based on a tiny bit of truth, though, which might explain why it's stuck around for half a century.

This 'reptile brain' nonsense started in the sixties when neuroscientist Paul MacLean proposed the Triune Brain Theory.

He was trying to explain how animal brains evolved and

why some animals, like us, could reason or plan but others couldn't.

MacLean thought that these more complex abilities came from extra brain layers added on top of a primitive, instinctive brain base,

like a juicy dumpling is wrapped inside a pastry.

The brain's core was called the protoreptilian complex.

Hence, "reptile brain".

And it's the name MacLean gave to what we now call the basal ganglia,

a group of neurons at the very centre of the brain.

As the name suggests, this region supposedly explained the behavior of reptiles.

MacLean thought it was the neural seat of motor control

as well as instinctual behaviors like defending territory.

Wrapped around the reptile brain was the paleomammalian complex or limbic system,

which was largely in charge of emotions.

And because emotions are important for things like social relationships, parental care, bonding and empathy,

MacLean thought this system was especially important to early mammals.

The final layer to be added on was what MacLean describes as the neomammalian complex, a.k.a. the neocortex,

which is the 6-layered tissue that makes up the majority of the folded,

"brainy"-looking part of our brains called the cerebral cortex.

This, which is much bigger in "higher" mammals like us and our primate relatives,

is what he thought gives us language, reason and conscious perception of the outside world.

And according to this theory, each of these layers acts as a separate quote "brain".

So when you get angry and lash out at a potential rival, that's your reptile brain taking over,

but when you ponder the great wonders of the world, your neomammalian brain is in charge.

Which is why some pop-psychology articles talk about reigning in your reptilian brain,

though that's not really what MacLean was going for.

In some ways, the Triune Brain Theory is kind of true, but it's also pretty wrong.

MacLean was kind of right that different parts of the brain have somewhat different tasks,

but his groupings weren't perfect.

Those quote "reptilian" basal ganglia do help us form habits,

and they play a big role in controlling voluntary movements.

But they're also involved in emotions and executive functions like self control.

For example one part, the nucleus accumbens, is a big player in the brain's reward circuit.

As for the limbic system, that paleomammalian part, it is heavily involved in emotion and bonding,

thanks largely to a structure called the amygdala.

But the term "limbic system" is kind of falling out of favor because neuroscientists

can't really agree what's actually in it.

Some neuroscientists consider the orbitofrontal cortex, the part of the brain that helps make decisions,

to be in the limbic system, too, because it's tightly connected to other parts of it.

Or they use a more encompassing term, the paralimbic system, instead.

Others just stick to functional networks within the entire cerebral cortex,

which includes both the limbic system and that neomammalian neocortex.

Speaking of which, MacLean was right that the neocortex is a big part of our reasoning, speech and cognitive abilities,

but as the majority of the cerebral cortex,

it's kind of got its fingers in all the neural pies.

And it's not required for intelligence.

Octopus can perform some really tricky cognitive tasks

like remembering how to get out of a maze without a shred of neocortex.

Also, MacLean's names for these so-called brains aren't great either

because they don't really have anything to do with the animals they're named after.

That 'reptile brain' didn't first appear in reptiles,

and the limbic system isn't unique to mammals.

In fact, most animals with backbones, including fish and amphibians, have basal ganglia and a limbic system.

And "lower" mammals like mice do have a neocortex.

There's even evidence that other animals have a neocortex of sorts.

Their brains contain the same types of cells as the ones in our neocortex,

they just aren't arranged in 6 layers.

That might explain how birds, which are actually reptiles, care for their young or have linguistic abilities.

What differs between brains isn't who has what so much as their relative size and shape.

And it's not even fair to say that these regions are most developed in those groups of animals.

While it's true that our neocortex is a lot bigger than a mouse's, even accounting for body size,

some of the structures in primate basal ganglia and limbic systems are also larger and more complex.

So they aren't just hold overs from our more primitive ancestors.

But perhaps the biggest problem with the Triune Brain Theory is the idea that these different "brains" work independently, or even linearly.

We don't have three separate brains, we have one big coordinated one.

Brain activity underlying a behavior may start in one specific area, but it'll soon spread as other parts help out,

an idea known as distributive processing.

And that's how that neocortex has its fingers in all the pies.

Let's say some really attractive person starts hitting on your partner, and that makes you livid.

Those feelings of rage might start with activity in the amygdala, a part of that "limbic system".

But then other parts of the cerebral cortex including neocortical areas

can either increase or decrease the probability that you'll flip out based on cues from the environment.

And the basal ganglia, particularly the nucleus accumbens,

play a key role in deciding what you actually do with all your anger

by integrating information from both the neocortex and the limbic system.

So your jealous rage isn't your territorial, protoreptilian complex taking control,

it's multiple parts of your brain working in concert.

To cut MacLean some slack though, his theory reflected the knowledge neuroscientists had at the time.

Like many scientific theories, it evolved and became outdated

as scientists got new information through neuroimaging and behavior studies.

So, although MacLean was on the right track in terms of understanding how brain structure relates to function,

he got a lot wrong when it comes to how those structures work together

and the evolution of animal brains.

And ultimately, that means you don't need to worry about trying to control your reptilian brain

because it doesn't exist!

Contractors Are Cutting Corners And Leaving Homeowners With Significant Damages - Duration: 8:00.

Buying a home is probably the largest investment that the majority of Americans in this country

will ever make because most of us obviously can't afford to have multimillion dollars

invested into yachts or the stock market or any other investment.

Our home is our investment.

It's something that we grow equity in.

It's something that if we need to, we can borrow against with a bank, It is of utmost

importance that we keep that home safe.

The problem is that sometimes it's out of our control.

Sometimes shoddy contractors or home builders want to cut corners in a way that makes our

home vulnerable, our investment vulnerable to the elements, to damage and to other problems

that these same contractors and home builders refuse to pay for.

What's happening right now with these ... there're lawsuits against people, contractors and home

builders who apply stucco's sighting basically to homes now stucco occasion, not aware of

it.

It's a form of cement that's mixed with lime and water and a few other things.

It's sprayed onto the side of homes, gives it a very nice look, and it's supposed to

keep it protected from the outside elements specifically, obviously water damage.

What we're finding out right now, according to reports, is that there are too many contractors

and home builders operating in the United States, specifically in wetter climates like

those that we have down here in Florida, and they're doing an improper job applying this

stucco.

They're not following procedure, they're not mixing it properly, and more importantly,

they're trying to apply it directly to the home, which makes for cracking and leaks and

extensive water damage for homeowners.

What should be happening is that when they put stucco up, they're supposed to have some

kind of lattice that the stucco goes on.

They're not supposed to put it directly onto the house, but that lattice costs extra money.

It costs extra time.

Who has time for that When you got to turn and burn with all these homes out there that

needs Stucco, right?

That's the mentality of these contractors.

They want to get as many homes done in as little time as possible so they can make as

much money possible so they cut corners on your home, they cut corners on your investment,

and now that we're finding that they've cut these corners, which causes the Stucco to

crack out at a rate much higher than it would if they had done it properly, causing extensive

water damage, but now they're trying to say that hey, we're not liable for it.

You should have painted it better.

You should just cock it out.

This is just part of the regular wear and tear of home ownership.

Sorry, we're not going to do anything for you to fix the mess that we the contractors

created and that's why right now these contractors and home builders are facing a flurry of lawsuits

from homeowners who have had their homes partially destroyed because that contractor chose to

cut corners.

What makes it even worse, is that this is water damage, in some areas, depending on

where you lie in the flood plain, you're not required to have flood insurance because it's

unlikely that your home would flood.

These people who have had their stucco crack out, cause water damage, they're not getting

any money from the contractors.

They call their insurance company because surely this is something they would cover.

Only to find out, no.

It's water, that's considered floods, So you're on your own.

These people's homes, their investments, they're being destroyed.

All because these contractors wanted to cut a few corners, save a few dollars here and

there and then move on to the next home so they could make even more money knowing that

they had done a poor job for these innocent consumers who were just trying to make their

home look better, just trying to make their home a little more secure from the elements

and they're the ones who got taken advantage of, once again, by corporate greed.

Too many of these stories happen all the time.

But this one and the lawsuits being filed, that's really the only way to solve these

problems.

We have to hold these people accountable.

Law enforcement's not going to do it, but the court system will and that is our only

hope to get these people what they deserve and what they deserve, is to have a livable

home.

To have work done on their house that's not going to be destroyed within a year because

the contractor cut corners and the only way to do that is to take these people to court

and make them pay for the negligence that they acted with when they applied this stucco

and other kinds of home repairs and while we're talking about, people getting screwed

over, I think it's almost impossible to even mention that topic without talking about Flint

Michigan.

The place that had the almost deadly levels of lead in their water that made national

news a few years ago and then everybody seems to forget about it.

Well, here's the thing, the residents of Flint Michigan still don't have clean water and

nobody is talking about that anymore.

Here's another thing that nobody's talking about Flint Michigan.

The death toll from the dirty water that that city has been drinking for years now is about

10 times higher than official estimates.

According to the official estimates, the dirty contaminated water heading into Flint Michigan,

has only killed 12 people through legionella bacteria.

12 people, right?

That's a low number.

That's a number that the local and state governments can say, hey, you know, it's not huge.

Not a ton of people died from this bacteria, but no, according to new research, the actual

death toll from legionella bacteria in the dirty flint water.

Again, this has actually nothing to do with the lead.

This is just a separate new contaminant or living contaminant, legionella bacteria that's

killed 119 people, almost 10 times what the official death toll is, is that remind you

of something?

Does it remind you a little bit of Puerto Rico where they said that 65 people died,

but really it's almost 6,000 people died down there.

They're doing the same thing here in Flint Michigan.

112 people dead.

All because, excuse me, 119 all because, they didn't want to give them clean water.

They didn't want to spend a little bit of extra money to make sure that the water wasn't

contaminated with lead.

To make sure that the water wasn't contaminated with this deadly legionella bacteria, but

now people are in their graves, for doing nothing more than going to the faucet in their

sink, filling up a cup and drinking it.

That's why these people are dead.

I mean, that's the reason these people are dead.

What really killed them was republican policies.

Republican policies that wanted to cut corners, cut costs, privatize water systems.

They hired a guy for over $100,000 to tell them how to do it, who happened to be a good

friend of a Michigan Governor Rick Snyder.

He's the one who told them, hey, just divert the water over here.

Give them dirtier water, they'll be fine.

Pay me over $100,000.

I'm good to go.

They did it.

They paid him.

They switched the water and people are dying, and again, the problems go far beyond just

the lead.

We're talking about now deadly bacteria showing up in this water.

What's even worse?

Federal officials or government officials, local officials, state officials, all the

officials knew that this was actually happening and they sat on it and didn't tell the public

for 15 months.

Granny's Cooking Class #3 Pancakes - Duration: 16:33.

[upbeat music]

Hello InnerTubers, how 'bout another basic cooking lesson?

And, have you been listening to my morning meditations?

Well, I figured pancakes would go perfectly with morning meditations.

You get up, you do your meditation, you do your poopie, and then you make pancakes.

Yeah, wouldn't that be awesome?

Doesn't everybody poopie in the morning?

I mean, what, you didn't expect that out of me?

C'mon. You know me better than that.

I'm not sure if you remember, but my basic cooking series is extraordinarily popular with a couple

of different kinds of people.

There's the people who are just newly moved out from home, maybe young millenials or,

you know, people who've been hanging on their parents' coattails forever.

And another bunch of people is those who are newly single, particularly widowers - men

in their 40s, 50s and 60s who never had to learn to cook.

So, I'm happy to help.

And, pancakes!

What's more comforting than pancakes?

Unless you're gluten-free, and then, I understand that if you're careful, in some stores, some

stores even have a whole frikkin' section of gluten-free shit that you can buy.

And you can still have pancakes.

Think about the kind of pancakes you want before you go to the store.

Do you want fruit in them?

Do you want to put jam and peanut butter on them?

Oh, and by the way, there's a link down below in the description about all kinds of crazy

fucking shit you can do with your pancakes.

I thought it was hysterical.

I hope you do.

Make yourself a shopping list.

That'll be very very very helpful so that you don't overbuy at the grocery store.

Cuz I'm assuming that you're on some sort of budget.

Most everybody is unless you're super fucking rich and then why are you watching my videos.

You've probably got somebody cooking for you anyway.

I'm very much a traditionalist with my pancakes.

I just want blueberries in them and butter and syrup on them.

Simple. Really simple.

Oh, and another thing to think about as you get ready to cook and we'll get into this

a little bit more with the prep, do you want thick fluffy pancakes?

You know, the kind that are like a pillow?

Or do you like thin pancakes, the kind that the syrup just - - - oh - - - the syrup, yeah,

the syrup.

I like my pancakes thinner than I am.

That's how I like 'em.

Another advantage to thin pancakes, if you make 'em really thin like crepes, you can

roll shit up in 'em, and make like a pancake burrito.

For those of you who don't live anywhere near someplace where they serve Mexican food, that's

rolled up shit that you put in your hand and you eat it.

It's delicious.

[off camera What about frozen pancakes?]

I'm not sure if you heard that, but some douchebag just asked me about frozen pancakes.

No.

Please no.

You've got to be terribly desperate or really unwilling to cook if you're gonna buy frozen

pancakes.

No.

Fuck no!

You don't need to spend a fuckton of money on fancy implements or pans to make pancakes.

You can make 'em in a flat griddle which, of course, is really easy, or you can even

make 'em in a little old fry pan.

This one's, I don't know, look at the back of it, man.

I've been using this for, well, a long time.

And, I got a hot tip for you.

I'm gonna cook one pancake in the griddle and I'm gonna cook the test pancake in the

small pan so that I can prove to you that you can use either one.

I suppose you're wondering about tools.

Spatula.

I happen to have 3 different sizes because, well, I've been using a kitchen for a long

fucking time.

One is all you need.

You need some sort of whisk or a spoon or a long-handled fork.

You need some sort of measuring implement.

Even this little thing that came with my soap!

You can use it.

It's got measure marks on it.

Measure cups.

Can you tell how old these things are?

Yeah.

The thing of it is, once you buy the shit once, you have it.

As long as you treat your shit right, you keep it forever.

I know the retail stores don't like that, but you don't need to buy something new every

fucking year.

Woooo.

Perhaps most important is a clear mixing bowl.

I like to use this one as a measure pitcher because it just makes it easier to pour.

Although, I'll also show you how to dip your pancakes out with a little tiny scoop.

Are you ready to mix this shit?

I thought so.

Now listen this is not a sponsored video.

This just happens to be my favorite brand of pancake mix.

And the #1 reason that I'm telling you about it is because the directions on the back are

fuckin' foolproof.

You would have to be some sort of - well - you just, you couldn't read or you couldn't understand,

or whatever the fuck.

If you don't pay attention, you're not gonna be able to make pancakes.

So just pay attention.

Put on your big girl and big boy panties, okay?

It even tells you how to get your griddle ready.

We'll show you that in a minute.

It tells you to put a little oil in it and it tells you how much heat, and it tells you

how to test it.

That's super important.

Up here in the red: how many pancakes do you want?

6-8, 12-16, 18-22.

Let's just start out small.

Okay?

Start out just feeding you.

We can even in half this recipe for 6-8.

Although they don't say what size those pancakes are, so, well, what the hell.

I've got people here who can eat these pancakes when I'm finished, so we'll see.

And I might have one or two.

That calls for 1 cup of mix and 3/4 of a cup of water.

And, actually, that's very important when you're shopping for pancake mix at the store.

If it calls for milk and eggs and all this other bullshit, just say NO!

Just find the one that's super simple.

Batter and water.

Done.

In a pan.

Good.

I like to hold the box open like this when I'm gonna put my measure cup in it, because

it just makes it easier and it doesn't get shit all over the place.

It's super handy to have a knife right next to where you're working so that you can smooth

off the top of the measure. And the deal is you use the back side of the knife.

The smooth side.

And you just scrape off the extra very gently.

Very gently.

Very gently back into the box.

Now you know you have one cup. BOOM

Down you go.

Now, it just so happens that this little measure also has a 3/4 mark, so you put your finger

right here so that when you put the water in it, you know exactly how much water you've got.

Now, remember that I told you I like my pancakes a little thinner?

The directions on the box say that if you like your pancakes thinner, add more water,

and stir it for a little bit longer.

So that's what I'm gonna do.

So that's just about halfway between 3/4 of a cup and 1 whole cup.

Boom.

There we go.

Let's mix this shit.

Boom.

Ready to go.

Except that it also says if you want thin pancakes, you have to keep beating all the

lumps out.

It's like, I dunno.

I'm not gonna go there.

You know Granny doesn't go there, cuz we don't beat anything.

We're all about the love.

So, before we go over to the stove, you guys, hey, please remember to subscribe if you're

on YouTube and follow if you're on Facebook, and share my shit everywhere.

I'll tell you that again later, too.

Now the directions on the box say to use a medium-high heat and to me, that's what that

looks like.

The directions on the package say that you have to put a little Crisco in the bottom

of the pan (or some sort of oil), but I'm not sure that you really need that in a Teflon pan.

What the fuck.

If you're one of those people who freaks out about Teflon, then use another pan.

I'm good with that.

Here's another test.

According to the package, to find out if the pan is the right temperature . . .

see how the water drops will sizzle.

So this is our test pancake.

Just a little tiny one, okay?

Little tiny one, see how it spreads around.

All right, see how the bubbles are coming up?

This is how you know it's getting cooked.

What you wanna watch for is that once a bunch of these bubbles have popped and it gets a

little sheen on the top, oh, then it's time to turn it over.

Oh, look how perfect that is.

First try.

Yay, Granny for the win.

Little tiny bit more.

We'll lift up the edge.

What've we got here?

We got any color going on yet?

Nope. No color.

Not yet.

Let it sit there another little tiny bit.

D'you see how by disturbing it the bubbles went away?

You gotta wait 'til it's all bubbles.

It's like when you fry an egg, you gotta wait 'til it's almost done at the top.

Cuz, when you turn it over you just get a little tiny bit more cooking.

I know, this is like watching a pot of water boil.

It seems to take forever, but don't take your eyes off it because then it'll be done.

See this part over here?

Already done.

I think we're ready.

Ahhh, we got some color now.

Here we go.

Put your . . . put your spatula under it . . . and flip it.

BAM!

Awwwww. Doesn't that look perfect?

It cooks for just another little tiny bit.

You don't cook it as long on the second side cuz it's already almost cooked before you

ever turn it over.

We lift it up and see.

Ah.

Another tiny little bit.

While you wait for it, now it's time to get your plate ready.

Let's move that big pan over and make us some real pancakes here, kids.

Pancake 1.

Pancake 2.

Pancake 3.

Pancake 4.

So, I'm guessing that the measurements for 6-8 pancakes were for these that are, oh,

what would you say, about the size -- little less the size -- of a hamburger patty?

So, I guess you could get 6-8 of these out of there.

Not the big giant ones that they serve you in a restaurant.

Now, something I don't like about a square pan on a round burner is that you can see

there's different areas of the pancake that are getting cooked before other areas.

And, it's a little difficult to turn 'em around, but we're gonna give this a try.

Okay?

[muttering to self]

This right here is a fail, 'cuz I forgot to put the oil in the bottom of the pan.

So, now we know why you have to put a little oil in the bottom of the pan because they

will stick even to a Teflon pan.

Well, you know what?

Not every lesson I do is gonna be perfect.

Ugggghhhh.

We're gonna move this over here.

This is the failure pan.

Let's do the sizzle test.

Just beginning to sizzle.

There we go.

I'm just gonna cook these fuckers one at a time.

The treat of the century here?

I'm gonna throw some blueberries in.

Oh, yeah.

Now, I bet you think my blueberries look really weird don't you?

Well, that's becaue I cut 'em in half because if you leave 'em whole, then sometimes the

batter doesn't cook evenly around them.

Look at that!

Look at those bubbles in the top!

Ohmygosh, this is gonna be perfect.

Eeee. I got blueberries sticking together.

We don't want that.

That's another test.

If it doesn't quite move...if it's not ready to move, it's not done on the bottom yet.

See there?

Getting stuck a little bit still in the middle.

We've got done around the edges, but not in the middle yet.

What do you think?

Should we give this a try?

Oh, yeah, slides nicely.

You see how that happened?

Boom! YEAH!

Actually, I'm not the pancake cooker in my family, uhhhh, so I'm learning this the same

time that you are.

I don't know if you can hear that, but you can actually hear the blueberries sizzling.

Can you see the steam?

Hooooh.

Ahhhhh, check it out!

Over you go.

Oh, dear.

If there's any kids watching, that's my best attempt at Mickey Mouse and it really looks awful.

Let's try one more and see if I can get this shit right.

So, we got a little more oil.

That's what it's supposed to sound like.

Yeah.

Because what is life without blueberry pancakes?

Close.

Let's get the BIG spatula.

Let's go big.

Here we go.

Phew!

[upbeat music plays in background]

Finally.

I don't think they'll ever hire me at Waffle House, but I did it.

We'll just cover the other guy up.

I learned my lesson.

You remember earlier when I said I wasn't sure about putting the oil in the pan, even

if it's Teflon?

Well, you saw that I fucked it up and I learned my lesson, but at least I got one really good

pancake out of it, and the "twins" are here and Rod's gonna eat it because he said he'll

eat anything that I fix.

Vince would love them, but, you know, Vince is the gluten-intolerant kinda one, so,

too bad, Vince, too bad.

You see, even I fuck things up, so if you fuck up your first batch of pancakes, don't

feel bad, okay?

EVERYDAY NATURAL BACK TO SCHOOL MAKEUP ROUTINE/TUTORIAL | GLOWY, QUICK & EASY - Duration: 8:57.

Hey there you guys what's up

welcome back to my channel

If you're new here my name's Anna

And if you couldn't tell by the title,

In this video I'm coming atcha with

a very simple

and natural school makeup routine

Please don't hate me with the

back to school videos

I know it's very sad

school is right around the corner

So if you guys want to see a

very quick and easy look

that you can complete in

under 5 minutes

just keep watching

Alrighty, so we're going to be

starting on the base

Normally I would do eyeshadow first

but I mean, for school

I just can't bring myself to be up

at 5 in the morning just so my makeup

can be on point

I would rather focus on more

self-care like doing my skincare

routine, making sure I have a nice

breakfast. For me that is more

worthwhile with the exception of

a day here and there I will

typically not wear eyeshadow at all

Maybe, at most, a crease color

But as the title suggests,

it is definitely going to be more

natural, very effortless, very easy

to recreate just trying to enhance

what I was given, ya feel?

So I am going to be using a BB cream

very lightweight and it has SPF

in it, sunscreen protection

which is key if you're going to be

out in the sun

Many people forget even in the

wintertime just because it's hidden behind

the clouds, doesn't mean that the sun

isn't still there

So some people might cringe at this

I just apply it with my hands

Because it would just get absorbed

into a sponge or a brush

So I just do a little dollop

And yeah I just

swipe it onto my face

Before you even put on makeup

It's important to have a solid skincare

routine because if you don't,

Anything you're going to put on over top

will just not look right

Although I obviously skipped that in this

video but you can check it out

I have other skincare videos on my channel

And I will just put this on any areas

that I have acne

Moving onto concealer, I just dot this

wherever I think I need more coverage

because obviously the BB cream is

very sheer I don't want a thick base

all over my face

So I'm just dotting this on my chin

I mean this is a part I can get away

with using a sponge

So as I was filming this, I

had a sneaky suspicion that my green

blending sponge was gonna look

a bit odd because I was using

a green screen

So it looks like I'm blending

my face with something that's

completely invisible

I hope you guys find it as

humorous as I do

I'm using a green screen and

this is green so

I'm not exactly sure how it'll turn out

It might be some weird color

but it's just the green one by eco tools

I like to not apply a whole lot

just on certain areas that

I think I need it

I only do a very thin

coat under the eyes

Just because I feel any more

can get very cakey

and on me at least,

I think it looks weird to have a

thick and heavy base

if I'm not wearing a lot of eye makeup

Realistically during the school year,

this is what I would wear if

I cared in the morning

I mean, props to the people that

can wake up and do a full face everyday

I am not one of those people

take me as I am

I'm not there to please other people

I mean, I'm just trying to get an education

So, you know, that is something that I

just learned to not care about

I definitely, as a freshman,

was the kind of person who

would wake up at 4:30 every day

I would do a full face of makeup

There was a couple people here that would

tell me I'm wearing too much makeup

but, either way, if you wear makeup

then people are going to have something to say

about that and if you don't wear any makeup at all

people will also have something to say

that is definitely something beneficial that I

can take with me from high school

Is just learning not to care what people think

So after that long rant

I will not be powdering my face

sometimes I'll get oily throughout the day

it just really depends on if my skin is on the drier

side or not I really don't think that I need to

So moving onto bronzer because I am very pale

in case you have not noticed already

I am just using the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer

and I just take a tiny bit

I put it on my cheekbone area

where you typically would contour

I like to do this to warm my face up

a tiny bit so I don't look so washed out

If I wanted to go through this entire routine in the morning

it would take me max 10 minutes

and that's me going very slow

because there's not a whole lot of steps to this

and then on the tip of my nose

I like to apply this wherever the sun would hit

because that's when it looks the most realistic

and also just on my jawline

Something I cannot skip in the morning

is highlighting I mean even if you are wearing

no makeup at all

just a subtle glow is very flattering to the skin

So I'm going to be taking the wet'n'wild

botanic dream and a very large fluffy brush

I will just dip into there and I use this as a blush

since it's very pinky-toned

So it almost works as like a shimmery blush

while also highlighting at the same time

although I'll be going over that with some more highlighter shortly

It has such a pretty reflect to it

And I'll pretty much put this wherever I placed

the bronzer so on the tip of my nose

I'll go over my chin a tiny bit but not too much

because I don't want to rub away whatever coverage

that I have by my concealer

So now is when I would set my face

I use the Soo Ae Revitalizing Rose Mist

But while it is still wet, I will go into the wet'n'wild blossom glow highlighter

and on a thin highlighter brush

I am going to be applying this on all the high points on my face so

the top of my cheekbone

the brow bone

on both sides

my other cheekbone

the very tip of my nose

and the bridge up here

cupids bow

and chin

Ta-da we are highlighted

If I am going to be using an eyebrow gel

I'll be using the covergirl shape and define

easy breezy brow

It just has a spooley

It's a brow gel in the shade honey brown

because my natural hair is auburn

although I bleached it blonde

and I've been toning it using the Not Your Mother's

purple conditioner

I can recommend that if you are blonde or even a natural blonde or a bleach blonde

It works very well just let it sit in your hair for a while

Although my eyebrows are still dark, I use this to lighten them

Since in a video past you may have seen me bleach my eyebrows

not the best decision but also not the worst

Anyway I'm just going to be simply applying this

The way to make this look good is to make sure your eyebrows are done

I always wax mine at home

So pretty much now they already have a shape to them

I'm just simply brushing this through

It's definitely easier than having to draw your eyebrows on

and that is it for eyebrows

If I get too carried away, I can use an angled brush

and concealer to clean them up I mean you can definitely tell they're not exactly like one another

just happens sometimes it's not a big deal as long as they're not totally different

I mean eyebrows are supposed to be sisters not twins, right?

Moving along to mascara, I have very short and very straight eyelashes if anything they point down

but if I'm going to be applying mascara, I can't get away with not curling them

So I will start off my curling my eyelashes

Because although curling them afterwards has good effects and it'll make the curl last all day

It is not good to curl them after applying mascara because it can rip out your eyelashes

I've been there, done that so take that piece of advice anyway that was pretty easy

Obviously they're still short and wimpy

But now I can apply mascara much easier and it almost looks like I'm wearing a very natural pair of

fake eyelashes which is the ultimate goal, right?

Like even my boyfriend has longer eyelashes than me it's not fair

I think mascara makes all of the difference

So I will just repeat that on the other side

Alright so last but not least I will just be applying some chapstick I do this day and night because nobody wants

crusty lips I would definitely recommend Aquaphor

And I know I said I wouldn't be putting on any eyeshadow but I messed up slightly and I got mascara on my eyelid

So I will just be taking the lightest shade in the Kylie Burgundy palette and just applying that in my crease to

buff out any of the black mascara marks and I'll just do that on the other side for good measure

I also apply this on my lower lash line to even out the top and bottom

And ta-da that was it as I said very quick very easy

It's a very simple makeup routine you can easily recreate it in a matter of minutes

I hope you guys found this video helpful be sure to like if you liked this video and subscribe down below to see

Apple & Samsung Falling behind Huawei! next iPhone & Pixel & Mate leak ! - Duration: 15:45.

The new Pixel, Mate and iPhone were leaked last week.

Apple June quarter revenue, profit top estimates but, Huawei company tops Apple now as second biggest phone manufacturer!

Peace be upon you all. This is your host, Faisal Alsaif with another Science and Technology episode!

Let's start it with a very important news!

An international event is taking place in KSA these days. It is called Hajj Hackathon.

Hajj Hackathon is a gathering for coders and programmers to find digital solutions for Hajj season.

The event has started in 1st of August, and you're watching this episode in 3rd of August.

The event is nearly finished. Follow the event account to see what is happening there. Idols from all over the world attended the opening ceremony

Discussions and briefings were held. If you are a tech and science enthusiastic, you should follow them.

There are great opportunity in this Hajj Hackathon event!

Speaking of Hajj, Civil Affairs tweeted about pilgrims

During Hajj, there will be great services for pilgrims. They've adopted technology too.

The tweet is in the video description.

You will find information about where to get your Hajj card, where to get help. All in the VD!

Let's move to international news. A company developed special tablets for prisoners who haven't committed big crimes.

Prisoners can use the tablet to listen to music, watch content and visit some websites.

There is also a special app store where prisoners can buy apps.

The tablet was hacked!

Prisoners were able to get USD250, approximately 1million SR!

They were able to hack these money from the store itself and then, directed the money for others to trade with it.

Prisoners were able to hack the tablet and get the money. Investigations are taking place now.

You can't give a hacker a tablet in a prison. Of course they will hack it and become even a better hacker.

Have you heard about Ring bells? It is a bell we use here in Tech Pills. This is the second version of it. Would you like a review?

If this video reach 10k likes, I will make a review Ring ecosystem. We also might review Alro cameras -- which we also use in Tech Pills studio.

When asked if you would agree to freeze for 100 years, 42% said of course. You are strange people!

51% of you said no and 6% said yes but with conditions. These conditions were commented in the comment section.

Let's avoid this topic for now. I don't want to tell you subscribe to our channel and like the video after 100 years!

News episodes are done by me and Ahmed Bin Mahfooth. What is Ahmed doing now? Doing these stuff!

This is his Instagram account, where he posts pictures making fun of me.

I will post his account in the VD. Follow him.

You will see what I go through when shooting these videos, and you will be able to see when we shoot these videos.

Let's discuss smartphones. We have two new about Sony.

First one is that Sony is making lots of money from PlayStation.

PlayStation is the biggest profitable department. It exceeded smartphones and cameras.

Sony is a technological empire, and they are making lots of profit from PlayStation and its ecosystem.

Let's go to the other news about Sony. Their smartphone department is shrinking. Sony are trying to divide this department.

They are closing some offices around the world and are shrinking their phone department.

They are also shrinking their marketing department, but they are not backing up from technologies.

They are still developing the technologies in their phones like the cameras, screen and charging.

They are developing these technologies to sell them to other companies.

Just like how they sell Apple their camera sensors.

Google released a new ad where they complimented one of their products and made fun of another two products.

They criticized Apple and their macOS.

They also criticized Mircosoft's windows and their laptops.

The star of their ad is the Chromebook. They showed that their OS is more stable, has more space and better capabilities.

Do you agree with them or not?

If you haven't tried Chromebook before, tell us that you haven't.

We might review the Chromebook. I haven't made a full review of a Chromebook before.

The latest Chromebook costs USD1000, and the premium version reaches UD1600

If you'd like a review of it, like this video and comment. We would gladly do it!

When asked if you are with or against Samsung's ads against Apple, 79% of you are with and 20% are against.

I personally think these ads are great when done in a correct way.

If you want to criticize something, do it if it deserves criticism, unlike Chinese companies where they show that their products are great and other products aren't.

Despite the fact that the reality is different. If you want to criticize something, do the right thing.

I agree with the 79%, but also those 20% have the right too. Anyway, let's go to the next news.

Let's talk about Samsung's S9 where it didn't meet the expectations of sales.

We all are excited to know what's after S9.

We talked about this in other episodes. We wish it will be S10 or X or Note 10.

You also agreed with us in a previous poll where we said 2019 will be the biggest year for smartphones.

Anyone who wore this Casio watch is a champion.

This watch is from the memory. If you wore it, thank you.

Things like these are rare to find, and I like them.

Let's discuss Pixel 3, where some specs where leaked.

If this will be the Pixel 3, then it is destined to have a notch!

We have two designs for phones now!

The first design is that phones that adopted the notch, and phones that didn't adopt it!

Some companies designed their phones with these two designs, like Huawei.

But Samsung, Sony and other companies didn't adopt the notch!

Apple started the notch trend followed by other companies!

The new leak showed that the new Pixel will have a notch.

But it will also have a bottom slightly big bezel.

But it will have a top notch. Will it prevent the new Pixel from being a star? I don't think so!

Google focuses on the software and their OS is their biggest asset.

Android P is a great software for Android lovers.

A new Mate 20 leaks surfaced. People are very excited for it!

Mate 10 was good phone with good specs

We are excited for a competitor for P20 Pro from Huawei this year.

If this is truly the the mate 20 --notice how small the bezels are--

If you notice, there is a very thin top bezel that houses the camera.

There is also a very thin bottom bezel. Have Huawei gone with the rectangular design for the Mate series?

It would be a great thing if they went with this design!

If they also add the new Kirin CPU, which will be announced in IVA conference, Huawei's technologies and Lieca cameras, then this phone would be really great!

There will be a news about Apple and Huawei and what they did!

We expected this news, but not this quick!

I am excited for this news, let's discuss it now!

We've talked a lot about biggest phone manufacturers in the world.

We already know that Samsung is the biggest company that sells units.

Apple follows Samsung, then Huawei, then Xiaomi and then other companies.

What happened is that is for the first time, first half of 2018 Huawei could take the second place from Apple.

Huawei's devices sales are enormous.

This table is beautiful, but what's more beautiful is at the end of the list.

It is shown on the screen now!

If you notice, the first thing is that Samsung is at the top, but the number of their sold phones is significantly less than last year's.

And the second one is Huawei. Their market share is 40%+

Samsung is 10%-, yet Huawei is 40% +

The third one is Apple, who stepped down from the second to the third!

Apple's market share is 1%+

Let's go to the fourth, who is a giant in the the Chinese and Indian market

Xiaomi!

49%+

If this continues, Chinese companies will be at the top!

Chinese companies will easily top the list!

Huawei will be number 1, Xiaomi number 2, Vivo and other companies will be on the list too! Let's wait to see how this will happen!

If other companies couldn't adjust their approach and flood the Chinese and Indian market, they won't simply be on the top list!

Let's move to Apple. Despite this table, Tim Cook says this is the best June in their history!

Profit exceeded USD53 billion. This profit comes from the sale of their products, specially phones.

Then followed by accessories, laptops, watches and other products.

Watches are considered accessories now by Apple!

Apple is a profit company according to what Tim Cook says.

He focused on investors and said that trade and selling is very important to them

He talk about profits, but never mentioned innovations like how they used to say!

Let's discuss the new iPhone X dummy leaks, which prove some things.

There will be 3 phones of the second generation of iPhone X!

It will be called iPhone XI. It will have the same iPhone X features but with slight internal development!

It is confirmed that it will have 2 sim cards. I told you about it a month ago.

The midrange iPhone (which is the cheapest) will have 2 sim cards.

It might cost around 2400SR I guess!

It will cost 2400 SR and will have 2 sim cards. Electronic sim has not been confirmed yet!

The code in iOS 12 Beta confirms that it will have 2 sims, but it didn't confirm if it will be e-sim.

The Apple watch has an e-sim, but will the Pixel have one? We don't know!

My guess is that it will have two sims, I am sure about it, why am I sure?

They will be able to compete in the Chinese and Indian market.

People in China and India use phones with two sim cards!

That's what makes Huawei successful there. Vivo and Xiaomi are also competing there, because they offer 2 sim cards!

Xiaomi have phones that have 2 sim cards and an SD card slot!

If you want to be successful, you have to break your laws. I expect the new iPhone will have 2 physical sim cards!

The other 2 iPhones might have an e-sim!

This is the end of this episode. We wish you a great weekend. Don't forget to like this video and subscribe to our channel!

I want to remind you that these episodes are available........

This is my situation, whether is here in the office or at home!

Either Google Assistant or Alexa activate accidentally activate themselves. Thank God anyway!

Watch this video!

My daughter at home is speaking with Google Assistant!

She might told her office instead of the living room! Anyway!

Let's go back to our subject. What was I talking about?

Oh, I was finalizing the episode!

I want to remind you that these episodes have sign language, thanks to Abdelwahab!

I want to remind you that these episodes have sign language, thanks to Abdelwahab!

If you know anyway who might benefit from it, send it to him!

Also captions in Arabic and English are available

Anything I say is translated into Arabic and English!

This feature enables you to watch videos without sound. Some people need a written script too!

This is the end of the episode. Don't laugh!

This is the end of the video. Glory and praise be to Allah. I witness there is no God but Allah. I ask Allah for forgiveness and I repent to Him.

You can laugh now!
