Youtube daily Aug 3 2018

- Hey, everybody.

My name is Erica, and I'm a trainer here at Lush.

This is part of a new series that we're going to be doing

talking about some of our favorite products

or helping to introduce you to some new ranges,

and really just talking about issues

that are really important to us

and that we hope are important to you as well,

answering lots of questions.

So that's what we're here to do today.

So I'm gonna start off with my very favorite product

which is Ultrabland.

This is an almond oil cleanser and makeup remover

that has saved my life more than one time, I'll say that.

So Ultrabland being an oil-based cleanser,

it's kind of like a cold cream, okay.

So the idea rather than foaming up on the face

is that you will take that almond oil base,

massage it into the skin, and then you can just wipe it away

with a warm washcloth or even use, like,

a cotton pad and toner to take that away,

and what you're left with is really soft, supple skin.

So if you haven't used a cold cream-like product before,

it is different than a foaming cleanser.

A foaming cleanser is using soap

to wash away dirt and oil off of the skin,

where this is, really what it's doing is kind of

picking it up along with the oil and kind of capturing it

to just kind of gently slide off of the skin.

So with a foaming cleanser, you're gonna kind of left

with a kind of a nice tight feeling on the skin,

which some people love, some people do not.

But with this, you're gonna be left with, like,

a dewy, plump, supple feeling.

So some people have thought

because it is an oil-based cleanser

that if you have oily skin, you shouldn't use it,

and that's totally not true.

Any kind of skin can benefit from Ultrabland.

So the way that that would work is that oil attracts oil

so they will just come together and leave the skin together,

so you're left with a nice soft feeling.

You're not feeling stripped

or like you've had too much oil removed,

but you're feeling nice and soft,

and then you can use the moisturizer

that's appropriate for you afterwards.

So not only is it a great facial cleanser

just for daily use, but it is a fantastic makeup remover.

So if you have, you know, I wear a lot of eyeliner.

I'm even talking about, like, drag-level makeup here.

You can use some of that, you just kind of warm it up

in the hands, get that going all over,

and then that washcloth will just take it right away

and leave you with the skin that God gave you.

So when you're using Ultrabland,

it's warming up on the skin and kind of almost

becoming like an oil, and the best thing about that is,

I find, with having used many makeup removers in the past,

especially when you get to the eyes,

they can really leave you, you know,

kind of, like, blinking in pain.

And Ultrabland is so smooth and gentle

that you can really get in there,

like along the lashline and everything,

and still feel comfortable when you're done.

You don't feel like you have residue of a makeup product

in your eye or, like, an alcohol-y

kind of feeling in your eye.

You just feel clean and fresh.

I've often described Ultrabland as my desert island product.

We tend to ask each other that a lot at Lush

and, for me, it's Ultrabland,

and I find that because yes, it is a facial cleanser,

but because of the simple properties of it

with just the oil base and some of the really

soothing ingredients, I use it for a lot of stuff.

So I travel a lot for my job,

so I tend to use it as my lip balm,

if I've got, like, a little dry patch on my elbow,

I have even shined my shoes with this stuff.

I mean, this is really something that can help out

a lot of situations.

If I've had, like, a little nick or a little burn

or something, I've put a little bit on that,

just like a little salve,

so, like I said, it saved my life in more than one way

more than one time, for sure.

Ultrabland has an ancient history.

So we have a few products in the shop

that have taken inspiration from very old recipes

like our Angels on Bare Skin cleanser, for instance,

is inspired from a medieval recipe,

but Ultrabland is even older than that.

So about 2000 years ago, so we're goin' way back here,

there was a Greek physician named Galen

who had put together a combination of olive oil,

and rosewater, and beeswax.

And that really became the first cold cream.

So something like that, of this,

like an oil base with some sort of tincture in there

and the beeswax has been used for centuries now

to cleanse and soften the skin and to moisturize the skin.

So that's kind of where the idea of a cold cream came from.

And then, now, we're gonna rewind about 40 years back.

So 40 years ago, we used to,

or we, I say we,

Mark Constantine and Liz Weir, who's now Liz Bennett,

had a salon called the Herbal Hair and Beauty Clinic,

and that was where they were looking at people's skin

and their hair and literally making up a fresh batch

of something right there to put onto their skin

or their hair to help them out that day.

So someone came in with some irritated, sensitive skin

and they made this cold cream concoction for her

to help out with her skin.

That woman was Helen Ambrosen,

who later joined our company and is one of our founders

and product inventors today.

So Ultrabland, even back then, before we had Lush,

before the company before that, before that,

it's been part of the Lush story for decades now.

So over the years, it has evolved into this almond oil base

that's filled with things like beeswax and honey.

Honey is a fantastic cleanser and antibacterial for the skin

with things like rose, which is really good

for helping to reduce redness and irritation

and just leaving the skin

a little bit more moisturized as well.

And all of that whipped together in that almond oil base

is what's gonna provide the ultimate, super gentle,

super thorough cleanse for the skin.

So there is a little bit of a technique to using Ultrabland,

so I want to make sure that you know how to do that,

so that you're getting the right feeling out of it.

It does need to be taken off with a warm washcloth

or a cotton pad and toner,

but it's really really easy to use,

so I don't want to shy you away from using it.

So a little bit goes a long way,

and I've actually just got

a little bit of eye makeup on my hand, too,

so you can just see what that's like.

It's a little bit of our Independent

from eyeliner from Lush.

So I'm just kind of massaging that on,

and really when you are getting this going,

the eye makeup just kind of starts to,

starts to come in contact with that oil base

and just starts to kind of do its work,

so I'm just massaging it into the hand or the face

and this is actually such a great massage medium as well.

Massage for the face can really help to flush away toxins.

It can help to bring fresh, oxygen-rich blood

to the cells to nourish those cells,

and can also help to exercise the muscles

underneath the skin, plus it's just really relaxing

and it feels good.

So I prefer to use a hot washcloth.

That's just what feels good to me

'cause I love that snuggly feeling

of using a warm washcloth.

But you just melt that right off

and you're good to go.

So you can see the eye makeup is completely gone.

And, like I said, you can also use a cotton pad and toner

as well, but I like the warmth of that

'cause that's also really gonna help the oils

and the butters to just kind of slip away nice and easy.

So a lot of times people will wonder

if Ultrabland is right for them.

In pretty much every single case,

the answer is gonna be yes.

People who have really dry skin

or even people have a lot of oily skin or acne issues

can also really benefit from Ultrabland.

It has a very centering effect.

And what I mean by that is, especially with oily skin

or skin that experiences a lot of acne,

there's kind of a pendulum effect that goes on with that.

So because the skin is oily,

of course you have that natural inclination

to want to mop it up and get rid of that oil

'cause that's what you feel is causing the issues.

So you mop that up but then what your skin does

is it feels panicked and kind of robbed of its natural oils

so it calls all of those oil glands into action

to produce more oil.

So what you're doing is mopping it up

and kind of drying out the skin too much

and then overproducing oil

and it just keeps going like that.

So a steady

diet of Ultrabland

can really help to kind of stop that pendulum swing

and find a nice central place for your skin

to calm and balance itself.

So your skin feels the soft nature.

It knows that its skin is not robbed of oil.

All of those oil-producing glands are feeling calm

and like they don't need to start running and producing oil.

And you really do start to balance out

and you find that those issues you may have experienced

are really starting to fade,

and you're finding a more central place for your skin

that's a lot happier than it maybe was before.

Let's talk a little bit more

about some of the ingredients in here.

Starts off with almond oil.

Almond oil is one of the finest oils

that you can use on your skin.

It's really rich in vitamin E

to keep the skin really healthy and functioning well.

This also has a rosewater.

So we use a lot of infusions at Lush.

It's just to make that water content more useful

so when we're talking about rosewater,

we're literally talking about getting a bouquet of roses

and plucking those blooms off

and putting them into water to steep.

So what you're left with is a water content

that's needed for this product,

but that has the benefits of rose oil built into it

so it's gonna help with that redness

and to really soften the skin,

but we need to use that water content.

It's a nice loose emulsion,

so what happens is the oil kind of almost like,

like, cups the water

and so when you put that on, it just almost, like,

breaks onto your skin so it's just really

soft emulsion that goes onto the skin.

Another really fantastic ingredient in here

is a tincture of benzoin.

Benzoin is, it kind of smells like vanilla,

but it has really wonderful soothing and protecting features

in that oil, so that's gonna go right into this product.

Also has beeswax and honey.

Beeswax is a really great way

to just melt that makeup right off or any dirt or oil

that you have onto the skin.

And it kind of smells like that, too.

Ultrabland does have, like, a warm kind of beeswax smell

which I find to be really comforting.

So that's Ultrabland, my very favorite product.

I hope you love it as much as I do,

and we really want to hear what you think about it.

So comment down below.

We want to hear what you think about Ultrabland,

but also what other questions do you have?

We plan on doing lots more of these, so give us some ideas.

What do you want to know about?

So engage with us down below

and we'll have lots more to talk about in the future.

Republican Candidate Indoctrinates Baby Into Trump Cult In Creepy New Ad - Duration: 4:16.

In the era of Trump it seems that some republicans, the ones who still cling to him, are trying

to out trump their opponents by saying they love Trump more than the next guy.

And nobody has better, and unfortunately more creepily than republican Florida governor

candidate, governor wannabe, Ron DiSantis.

Take a look at DiSantis's creepy new ad where attempts to indoctrinate his young child into

the ways of trumpism.

Everyone knows my husband, Ron DiSantis is endorsed by President Trump.

He's also an amazing dad.

Ron loves playing with the kids.

Build the wall.

He reads stories.

Then Mr Trump said, "You're fired."

I love that part.

He's teaching Madison to talk.

Make America great again.

People say Ron's all trump, but he is so much more.

Big league, so good.

I just thought you should know.

Ron DiSantis for governor.

Wow.

All right, there are so many things just plan creepy about this video.

But, to me, one of the creepiest things is not what he is doing to that child.

Because they don't honestly believe that this man goes home and does all those things with

his child.

I do, however, find it insanely creepy that he had his wife, who was a former newscaster

in South Florida, come on there and try to act all cute and funny, and you say these

thing, and then they were doing something else in the clip.

That's what is cringe worthy, to me, is any time republicans try to do something funny,

but it just comes off as insanely creepy, like when Ted Cruz did the video doing all

of his little Simpsons impressions.

Tried to be fun and hip, and cute with the public, and he just ended up looking like

a real crazy person.

And that is exactly what Ron DiSantis has done with this ad.

But, he thinks it's gonna play well.

He thinks that's going to work in the state of Florida, that yes, went for Trump, but

didn't go for Trump by huge margins.

And, as a bit of anecdotal evidence, I can promise you as somebody who has lived in the

state of Florida for almost all of my life, I have seen very few Trump bumper stickers

and yard signs, especially when compared to the number of Romney, McCain and W stickers

that I still see on vehicles today.

Those Trump stickers do not show up on a daily basis even, but I can't drive five miles without

running into Romney, McCain, or W sticker.

So, that kind of tells you something.

Yeah, they voted for Trump, but this isn't exactly a place that's all in for Donald Trump

like Alabama, or possibly even Mississippi.

So, I think he's over playing his hand here politically.

More importantly, to the real issue here, Ron DiSantis, a tea party republican is trying

to be the next governor of Florida after eight years of Rick Scott, a man who probably should

have ended up in prison rather than the governor's mansion in our state in Tallahassee.

But instead, he plead the fifth more than 75 times, didn't have to face any charges.

His company ripped medicare off, or medicaid for more than one billion dollars, and then

he became governor.

So, we have had eight years of a borderline criminal, crazy governor who's creepy, both

with his policies and with his appearance.

I don't think we need four years of another creepy guy, like Ron DiSantis, trying to continue

to run our state into the ground.

Florida is basically a national laughing stock at this point, and we need a governor who's

not gonna put out these creepy, cringe worthy adds indoctrinating his own child.

We need somebody that's gonna turn the state around.

Maybe, just maybe, protect the coastlines from things like oil spills and climate change,

and turn Florida's reputation around so that we're not the laughing stock of the rest of

the country.

Ron DiSantis isn't the guy who's gonna do that.

Disney Dream Job: Walt Disney Animation Studios Artist | Disney Family - Duration: 8:13.

- My favorite Disney animated film

is "The Princess and the Frog."

It was the first time I saw a Disney

princess that looked like me.

As a black woman, I didn't get to grow up with those kind

of visual representations.

Having that at a young age makes you realize

that you can do anything.

My name is Raigan.

I'm 15-years-old, and my Disney dream

job is to become an artist at Walt Disney Animation Studios.

[PIANO MUSIC]

Now you can always find me in the art room.

That was the first room I went into,

and after that I've just grown used to the art room.

I always go in there.

I started noticing Raigan's talent for art

when she was really little.

As she got a little bit older, probably about middle school,

she kind of started advancing a little bit.

She would draw like little comic book sketches.

She does struggle, I think, a little bit, with venturing

out and meeting friends.

She really just wants to kind of be in the art studio

at the school or, you know, at home

drawing in her sketchbooks.

[UPBEAT MUSIC]

RAIGAN: Today I'm gonna meet some artists

and learn about the process of making Disney animated films.

I'm really excited.

Great to meet you.

So great to meet you.

Welcome to Walt Disney Animation Studios.

I'm Ron Clements, and I hear that you

are a big fan of the movie "The Princess and the Frog."

Yeah.

I actually co-directed that movie.

Whoa!

Right?

RON: I hear that you draw. You're an artist.

Yeah.

This piece was one of the very first pieces ever done

on the movie of Prince Naveen arriving in New

Orleans for the first time.

And then we have a drawing of Mama Odie,

and this is a very early version of Tiana.

RAIGAN: Inside the hallways there was like a whole bunch

of like paintings and concepts.

You're like looking to each side like,

OK, got to make sure I look at every single one.

So that's just an example of the different kind of artists,

and you're gonna meet a great one.

[RELAXED MUSIC]

RON: This is Mark Henn.

This is Rachel Bibb. - Hi.

Nice to meet you

I remember when I was a small boy,

this was a dream job for me.

What's your dream about Disney animation?

RAIGAN: "Princess and the Frog," seeing her on screen,

I was like, I want to become part of that.

I want other kids to have that same excitement and joy

of seeing a character that looks like them on screen like I did.

MARK: Well that's great.

So we'll just start with a character

that you might recognize.

And so I've put a new piece of paper down so

I can start making my changes.

As an animator, I'm working very loose and rough.

I'm not too concerned about the final look

of the drawing at this point.

And that's where we are a team.

We heard that Tiana is one of your favorite characters,

right?

So everyone would draw her in a slightly different way.

And my job is to make sure that she always looks

like Tiana, no matter who drew her.

COURTNEY: Raigan, she's such a perfectionist with her drawing,

and she'll beat herself up if it's not perfect.

But there's like all these different steps.

The animator doing the first part

and then the clean-up artist coming in, finishing it off.

And you don't realize that those are two separate functions.

So that's kind of how we divvy up our responsibilities

on a single character.

And it's one of the amazing things about animation.

I don't know about you, but drawing tends

to be a very solitary process.

You sit alone in your room and you draw your drawings.

I'm glad that you said that because it means that I'm not

weird for being incredibly shy.

Animators in general tend to be very much observers,

so I think being quiet and being shy

would never prevent someone from becoming a great animator.

RAIGAN: When my mentors shared their life experiences with me,

it made me feel really, really good because it meant that I

wasn't this weird, awkward person who

has all these awkward stories to tell

and that they went through the same thing as me.

I want to see you draw.

[GIGGLING]

MARK: What we're gonna suggest is just a simple bouncing ball.

RAIGAN: OK.

We'll start with the ball in the air up high.

So now with your left hand, pick up the piece of paper

there so that you can flip between your first drawing

that you did and your second drawing.

You'll start to see, a-ha, it's starting to move a little bit.

OK, let's put a new sheet of paper down.

This ball is gonna hit the ground.

Now what happens when a ball hits a hard object?

RAIGAN: Flatten.

MARK: It's gonna flatten out a little bit.

But once the ball has hit the ground, now it's got to bounce.

When it goes up, it's actually gonna compress the other way.

So it doesn't quite get back to the full round shape

until right towards the end.

RAIGAN: Drawing the bouncing ball with Mark

and Rachel was really fun,

although I knew I was in trouble because I can't draw circles.

[LAUGHING]

Why don't we get going to the effects department

to meet our friend Marlon?

[MUSIC]

So are you familiar with what effects

are in an animated film?

Kind of?

Yeah, a little bit.

So usually what I say, like affects

is like everything that moves on screen

that's not the characters.

It's smoke, water, rain, fire, explosions, magic.

So you may be familiar with this scene

where Tiana meets Naveen for the first time.

Knowing that this was a film about amphibians,

we use a lot of water cues and bubbles

and things instead of traditional like pixie dust.

Sometimes they have like close-ups of like

plants and like how they sway.

Do you do that too?

Yeah, very often.

So most recently I worked on "Moana."

So in "Moana," it also has a bunch of effects,

but mainly a lot of water.

[LAUGHING]

MARLON: And, you know, water is really difficult.

And everybody knows what it looks

like, so you can really fake it. COURTNEY: Right.

OK.

MARLON: What you'll learn walking around

here today is there's both creative and technical

challenges.

You've got a character like Te Ka here,

who is like a living volcano, you know?

So you have to have like a character performance that's

believable, and then you have to have all these aspects of what

a volcano is to kind of eventually

view her with believability.

So I guess you're gonna go see Don and Josie now, from stories.

- All right. - So I'll walk out with you.

OK.

I didn't realize there were like so many steps.

I thought it was like, oh, all you have to do

is just draw the pictures and put them together

and voila, you've got a movie.

Hi.

Hello. I'm Josie.

- I'm Raigan. - Hi, Raigan.

I'm Don.

Hi.

It's very nice to meet you.

DON: Storyboarding was essentially

invented by Walt Disney.

Once the story team is assembled,

sequences are handed out.

And each story artist gets a sequence.

We could start to talk about an idea, but then you're like, OK,

I'll just draw it. You know, this is Tiana.

And it can be really rough drawing.

That's kind of the great joy of story

is that there are no rules.

It can be incredibly scary, but at the same time

there's so much freedom to create your own vision.

DON: Once a scene starts to kind of come together,

then you can refine it.

That's what the main job of the story artist is.

She's building a character with what was nothing before.

Now there's something.

They're actually starting to be attracted to each other.

I mean, that's what you start to see as these characters start

to come alive.

I heard that you do comic books.

Is that right? - [GIGGLING] Yeah.

JOSIE: Yeah?

Essentially you've been storyboarding already.

DON: Yeah, you're already storyboarding.

And then from there you get a bunch of notes

and just do it all over again until the movie is done.

[LAUGHING]

COURTNEY: One of the things that I always kind of struggled

with was, should I just leave her alone

to her books and her art or push her to be

a little bit more outgoing?

But after today, walking into this building full of people

just like Raigan, it's made me realize that

her little different quirks and stuff that she may have,

it will all help her as far as pursuing her dream.

RON: A lot of introverts are drawn to animation because it's

a way that you can kind of let yourself go express yourselves,

even if you are shy.

So I can relate to that in her.

RAIGAN: I realize that I don't really need

the approval of other people.

And I could just be myself, and it wouldn't matter.

[JOYFUL MUSIC]

Today has confirmed that being a Disney animator

is definitely, definitely, definitely my Disney dream job.

I'm going to go out and get myself a flip book

and start animating right away.

【Lyrics】僕が死のうと思ったのは-中島美嘉 - Duration: 6:17.

There was a time when I thought about dying,

because the seagulls squawked at the end of the pier.

Drifting aimlessly at sea 'til they'd all flown away

having pecked at my life like scraps of bread.

There was a time when I thought about dying,

because the plum blossoms bloomed on my birthday.

If I lie down beneath the sunlight streaming through the trees,

will I become like the dirt and insect remains?

Mint candy at the harbor's lighthouse.

Abandoned bikes strewn by the rusty bridge.

I warm myself up at this old wooden station,

though I don't really feel like going anywhere.

But today feels exactly like yesterday,

and if I don't change something, tomorrow will be the same.

I know it will. I know it will, and yet still…

There was a time when I thought about dying,

because I was nothing but an empty husk.

And whenever someone cries because they're not happy,

I'm sure it's because they really want to be.

There was a time when I thought about dying,

because my shoelaces had come undone.

I was never very good at retying them.

Kind of like how I am with the ties between people.

There was a time when I thought about dying,

because some kid wouldn't stop staring at me.

I fell down to my knees on top of my bed,

so that I could apologize to myself.

My computer casts a dim light.

The room upstairs sounds the same as ever.

The boy sits tucked inside a birdcage,

ears covered to drown out the ringing school bell.

I'm fighting an enemy I can't even see,

the Don Quixote of this apartment.

Honestly, I bet the prize isn't all that great.

There was a time when I thought about dying,

because everyone said I didn't have a heart.

And whenever someone cries longing for another's love,

it's because they accidentally learned what the real thing feels like.

There was a time when I thought about dying,

because you just had to have such a pretty smile.

And whenever someone can't help but think about dying,

I'm sure it's because we're all trying a little too hard.

There was a time when I thought about dying.

It must have been because I hadn't met you yet.

And if people like you can exist in this world,

then maybe I like it a little after all.

And if people like you are living in this world,

then maybe it's alright to hope a little too.
