A95X Max TV Box Monster Expandable Storage 2TB Max Android 8.1 Amlogic S905 X2 - Duration: 25:16.

Hello and welcome. Thanks for tuning in for another TV box stop review. Today I have a

box that is quite different. It not only looks powerful, but it runs on the latest Amlogic

S905X2 CPU an the Mali G31 GPU, on DDR4 memory, and it comes with new features first for 2019.

This box, is the A95X Max quad-core Android 8.1 4K TV box.

This box boast of being able to solve all your storage problems faced on Android TV

boxes, and at the same time deliver strong performance and great entertainment. So stay

tuned, a full review is coming up next.

So I'm back and as usual I will start with the box that its shipped in. This box comes

with specs at the bottom.

It says that the model is the A95X Max. The CPU is the Amlogic S905X2 quad-core A53. The

GPU is the ARM Dvalin MP2 GPU. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and it

has 2.4 and 5GHz WiFi.

So without further ado, I'll do a quick unboxing.

In the box you have the TV box itself.

You get this big infrared remote. It has dedicated buttons to open Netflix YouTube recording

and apps and It can also be programmed to control your TV.

You get 1 HDMI cable.

A 5 volts 2.5 amps DC power adapter.

A pack of mounting screws.

And a user's manual.

Let's take a look at its design and what features we have on this box. Well for starters the

housing is made of plastic, with the logo printed to the top. Also to the top here we

have a special feature, an I will return to that in a second.

To the back you have 1 HDMI, 1 USB 2.0, 1 Ethernet LAN port, 1 audio video port, 1 optical

audio and a DC power input. This leaver here is related to the special feature to the top,

and I will show that after I finish with the rest of the ports.

To the side you get 3 USB 3.0 ports and this is the first Android box to carry three of

them. and there's a micro SD card reader.

To the front you have an LED clock display.

And to the bottom you have lots of ventilation holes.

Returning to the top of the box, right around the edges there are lots of ventilation holes

which is important for what I am about to show.

This leaver is actually a latch that opens up the top of the box to access this SATA

SSD or hard-drive bay.

They have strategically placed the bay at the top along with adequate vents to provide

proper heat management.

The included mounting screws are used to fasten the drive to this metal frame by removing

these 3 screws. This is the first TV box to come with this design and I'm quite eager

to see how it applies or benefits the user.

So I'm all connected, and upon first start what you'll see is this boot-up animation

for a few seconds. Then you're taken to this startup wizard that only has to be filled

out once. Once completed, you're then taken to the launcher.

So this is the launcher. and believe me when I say I am quite delighted to see the layout

of this one. After seeing all those boxes with no navigation bars, this one brings a

breath of fresh air. The launcher is simple, and dough it may not have the most flashy

interface, it is the best launcher I have come across for a long time. I'll show you

what I mean.

The launcher comes with these large main buttons that can actually be changed, this is done

by simply pressing and holding on the OK button on the remote, or via clicking and holding

the mouse button, and selecting which app you would like to replace the current one.

This feature is not available in most, if not all TV boxes, you usually cannot change

these main buttons on the launcher.

In similar fashion you have this shortcuts bar here at the bottom. This bar scrolls horizontally

like the main bar, and you can add or remove any amount of shortcuts you want by clicking

on the add button and selecting which apps you would like to add. To remove a shortcut

you simply click and hold on the shortcut, and select remove or replace the shortcut

as you so wish.

Other features include. A navigation bar with a screenshot button. A Notifications bar at

the top. A weather widget, and a date an time widget, and you also have a one click memory

cleanup button for freeing up system resources. In my opinion, lots of thought based on user

experience and comments went into designing this new launcher, and it is one of the best

launchers for 2019 thus far, and I'm giving the makers of this box high marks for that.

In the apps section. Besides the usual apps like app installer and Google play store,

they have included some special apps, some of which are unique to this box.

They have included the Cetus play app. A go recorder app. A root browser app, and a TV

store app. There's no miracast or Air pin pro, and Netflix has not been preinstalled.

I will touch on these special apps during the review, but before I do, I will install

my usual set of apps to complete this review.

So I've installed all my apps and I'l now check to see if the box is rooted.

It shows that the box is rooted. running on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. This is

great news, but if you go to the advanced settings area, this box comes with a manual

root switch that allows you to turn the root back on if you so please.

I now show its DRM information.

It shows that you only have Google widevine level three, and no HDCP encryption. This

means that Netflix cannot show in HD or 4K and it will only show in standard quality.

Let's look at its system and hardware information.

The manufacturer of this box is Amlogic, and the model is the A95X Max. It comes with 4GB

of RAM which is DDR4 memory, and this is the remainder of the storage after the Android

installation and all the apps I have installed. The Bluetooth version here is 4+, which indicates

that the Bluetooth version is 4.1.

The CPU, is a 64bit cortex A53 quad-core CPU running up to 1.7GHz in 32bit mode. Below

here it shows that the box has support for 32bit ABIs, allowing it to access up to 4GB

of RAM to run all applications.

The GPU, Is the single core Mali G31 graphics processor, with a refresh rate of 60 hz and

open GL E S version 3.2. This is great news, because it means that this box will do great

at playing games and 4K videos of all formats.

Under Network, it shows that the box has dual band 2.4 and 5 GHz Wifi support.

Under Android information, it shows that the operating system is Android 8.1 Oreo, and

it also shows that the box is rooted.

Under thermal information, it shows that the box runs between 45 to 50°Celsius under normal

room temperature, and this can rise up to 65° under heavy activity. Applying a cooling

fan like the Evercool RC 02 will maintain a temperature between 30 and 50°.

The box comes with codecs for playing 4K videos like HEVC, H.264 and VP9 decoding, and a couple

of others all needed for the playback of 4K media.

And that's it for system and hardware information, an now let's see what this box can do.

First, let's see if you can change the launcher.

The Nova launcher works fine on this box and I have tried other launchers and they all

work fine.

On this box Netflix doesn't come preinstalled, but I managed to install a working version

off of the Aptoide app store, since the version on the Google play store just wouldn't allow

me to install it.

Due to the lack of the required Google widevine level one, an HDCP encryption that protects

against piracy, Netflix can only show in standard quality. As you can see there's no HD symbol

showing up in the movie description. Nonetheless, standard quality is very watchable an if all

you have is a standard account, then it really doesn't make a difference.

The YouTube app doesn't come preinstalled but it is available on the Google play store.

The Android TV version is also available in the Aptoide app store and it installs without

issues.

I will now run a 4K YouTube video sample.

The Android TV version plays in 4K quality and here is the stats for nerds information.

The A95X Max together with the hard drive expansion bay comes with a recording app which

allows you to record anything on your screen. In the settings area, you can choose what

resolution you would like to record in, but it is limited to 720p resolution.

In the work space setting, here you can choose where you would like to save the recorded

video. You can select the internal storage on the box, or an external storage device

like a flash-drive or SD card, or you can select the drive you inserted into the hard

drive expansion bay.

I will now do a quick recording of my activity on the box.

And it's simple as that. All your recorded videos will be displayed here where you can

play them, rename, or delete them.

Staying on the expansion bay. I installed a 2 50GB hard drive, but you can use an SSD

if you have. The expansion bay can handle up the 2TB and you can convert it to internal

storage or leave it as additional storage, the choice is yours. This is the first box

for the first quarter that provides this feature and it takes away the constraints of limited

storage to work with.

As we proceed, I will now run some 4K video samples to see how it handles the playback.

I'm playing these videos off my USB 3.0 flash-drive.

In similar fashion to all the other S905X2 boxes, most of the 4K samples played OK with

two of the samples having some difficulty, including the 4K jellyfish video.

For streaming movies and TV shows the box comes with TV MC which is a Kodi 17 with a

custom skin. You are free to uninstall that version and install the stable version from

the Google play store, or you can install what ever latest build you may have. You would

have to also install your own third party addons for free streams of movies and TV shows.

You also have the option to install any free movie streaming or IPTV service by installing

the Aptoide app store and installing them from there. I will leave a list of these services

in the description area below this video and on my website. Remember, these APKs do not

come preinstalled on the box, so you will have to install them yourself or get some

assistance from someone else.

Another app included on this box is the apps store for Android TV. This app is similar

to the Aptoide app store and it provides some apps and games for this box. Some might find

it useful but after going through its features I found that the Aptoide app store is better.

I will now run some games to test its 3D graphics performance. I have also tested the key-mapping

app and it works fine on this box.

The

games ran OK, and you have key-mapping capability on this box.

And that's it for the live demonstrations. Let's now take a look at its benchmarks. First,

I have the results of the RAM an internal storage read and write speeds. The A95X Max

has a RAM copy speed of 2027 MB/s. The internal storage has a read speed of 147 MB/s and a

write speed of 103. And the SD card results here which is the expansion bay, has a read

speed of 50 MB/s and a write speed of 60. These scores are average scores for a TV box

in this price range, and indicates that this box has decent transfer speeds.

And now I have the results of the WiFi speed test. The results show that the A95X Max has

very good WiFi and LAN speed connection. It was able to hit the maximum download an upload

speed of my Internet package of 40MB on all connections.

I now show the results of the Antutu benchmark. And it shows that the A95X Max got a score

of 56380. This score is a bit lower than the score I got on the X96 Max, which scored around

59200.

Next I have the results of the Geekbench 4 CPU benchmark. The box scored 669 single core,

and 2035 multi-core. Again the score here being slightly lower than the X96 max.

The final benchmark is the Ice storm extreme and the slingshot GPU benchmark. The A95X

Max got a score of 4780 2 in the Ice storm extreme test, and 489 in the slingshot test.

And once again the score being slightly lower then the X96 Max by 9%.

In summary. The A95X Max in my opinion is one of the best boxes to buy for 2019 thus

far. First off it features a storage expansion bay capable of handling a SATA drive of up

to 2TB in size. It comes with 3 USB 3.0 ports. 4GB of DDR4 RAM. 64GB of internal storage.

the housing comes with ventilation holes to the top and bottom, with a removable top cover

to install an external drive which can also increase ventilation by providing an open

case option.

It runs on the latest S905X2 CPU and the Mali G31 GPU which has been doing well for the

year so far. If has a really simple but efficient user interface and launcher, with interchangeable

main buttons and navigation bar. The box is rooted, running on the full version of Android

8.1 operating system, and it comes with a root switch in the settings area. It has very

good WiFi reception hitting the max speed on my Internet package on all connections.

It does not come with a lot of apps, however it does provide a few unique apps like the

recording app the Android TV custom app store, and the Cetus play app. You can install Netflix

but the official version from the Google Play store will not work. The highest version from

the Aptoide store works fine. It played most of my 4K videos and YouTube plays in 4K quality.

Gaming on this box was good as usual with the Mali G31 GPU, and you have full key-mapping

capability. The benchmark scores weren't the highest, but consistent with other S905X2

boxes.

On the down side. They governed the CPU max frequency to 1.7 GHz to manage heat, and it

was reflected in the benchmark scores. Below the box there is a vent for a cooling fan

as shown in the description images, however, it doesn't come with a fan installed. If you

are so technically inclined, there is a fan port on the board to install a fan if you

want.

Netflix shows but only in standard quality. It has no DRM support for Netflix and other

premium streaming services to show in HD quality, but this does not affect free streaming services.

Two of my 4K samples had some difficulty, and the included remote does not have an air

mouse feature.

So that concludes my review of the A95X Max TV box. I hope you enjoyed my review and it

Every single Runescape account is worth something to the Runescape black market, who trade accounts

between them for use in botting, real world trading or directly out of spite.

A lot of hijacking are targeted attacks.

But most are random.

Unlucky players found in password databases, who just happened to be on some random list.

If you got hacked, the odds would have it it's because you used your password the

wrong place.

A place you thought were safe.

Thousands of high-value accounts have been hijacked through the Runescape account recovery

system.

Some more high-profile than others, due to their high wealth, rare usernames or celebrity

status.

Hijackers seem to bypass bank pins, authenticator and registered email addresses.

So why are these security measures in place to seemingly no avail?

And why does it seem like some people can hijack anyone they want?

Not long ago, a player called Nelsi was hijacked on Oldschool Runescape.

Being overall rank of 451 with a total wealth of 5 billion coins, Nelsi was definitely a

valuable target for account hijackers.

Like countless of previous situations, it seems like the email and bank pin was removed

with ease.

After a few hours, Mod Steve w would reply saying the account was hijacked using several

pieces of personal information about Nelsi, including creation date, location, postal

code and previous passwords.

A very strong recovery appeal, but suspicious when the appeal was not made by Nelsi.

So - how does a hijacker obtain your personal account information?

I got in touch with an ex-member of the Runescape black market, a so-called recoverer, who have

a history of recovering accounts.

Right off the bat he would tell me the number one source for account hijacking; fansite

databases.

More specifically - Zybez.

Zybez was one of the games oldest dedicated fansites, originating all the way back in

2001.

In 2012, the site experienced a major database breach, leaking the information of what was

potentially 1,2 million users.

However, the breach was apparently not a one-time case.

The recoverer I talked to told me how new accounts would sign up to the site and appear

on the black market just weeks later, with IP addresses, email and passwords openly available.

Two sources could tell me about seperate database leaks both in 2015 and 2016.

When asking Zybez about these claims, they told me they don't believe this is true,

and even if it was, it would be on the hands of Curse, who owns the Zybez database.

From the knowledge of Zybez admins, the leaks in later years never took place.

Zybez is not the only site, however.

Database breaches occur all the time, and Runescape-related fansites are compromised

fairly regularly.

If you're signed up to one, your registration details are not safe, and is at a risk of

being leaked to the wrong people, who will manually go through the list of users one

by one, eventually hitting jackpot.

Which could be you.

This is rarely the fault of the website administrators.

Very often it's due to poor security from the third party website host, or administrative

accounts being hacked for the very same reasons as presented in this video.

Recoveries are made as such.

Players on a website openly share their Runescape usernames.

Some times other information like first name, country, so on.

If a website gets leaked, hijackers get access to email, which for some is the registered

email to your Runescape account, and passwords which in some situations are the direct same

password or previously used passwords to your in-game account; enough to make a recovery

seem legitimate, and thus hijack the account.

But of course.

Not everyone is on a fansite.

This does unfortunately not mean you're safe.

Let me introduce you to doxxing.

The word 'doxxing' is used when describing the act of collecting information about a

user online.

This is done with ease for players who's not careful, and it can be done very simply.

Social media is often full of public information about users.

Through Twitter, Facebook and by simply talking to you in-game, you can be nailed down to

a location in the real world.

Your name might be found.

Emails.

Maybe the name of your dog.

Past usernames.

And this is just a handful of extremely many more pieces of information hijackers use to

take your account, several key details I've not included in this video, as they're way

too easy to find on most accounts, and therefore could cause harm if used inappropriately.

Too many players don't consider their own safety online a priority.

And yet many people get surprised when the hijacker suddenly knew the answers to your

recovery questions.

The small details matter.

Some players believe this is stuff that can't happen to them.

Yet, I was told of players being hacked for simply annoying somebody in-game.

In this moment are several clan leaders in both RS3 and Oldschool being watched for moments

where they go inactive for just a few days, so hijackers can take them while they're

not looking.

And this is not about high wealth or rare usernames; this could simply be because one

clan crashed an other.

Even a small thing like telling somebody when you started playing Runescape puts your account

at risk.

Does this mean you should stop making friends?

Not talk about yourself at all?

No.

There are security measures in place.

If you follow them correctly.

Runescape currently offer three measures of account security; a registered email, authenticator

and the bank pin.

But are these are secure as one would think?

Not following the Runescape community.

You don't have to look very far to find posts about the measures having flaws, being

bypassed and is seemingly useless.

Especially with the recent addition of game time being openly available when recovering

an account, it created a lot of doubt regarding the security of accounts.

I needed to find out why it seems so vulnerable.

So I asked the head of the Jagex ICU team, Mod Beno, about these claims, and he answered

as such;

"We are aware that our recovery system is not perfect and that mistakes happen but we

have not been informed of a series of flaws with our systems as far as I am aware.

We take account security incredibly seriously and continually work to improve all systems

relating to it.

Gametime has no impact on recovery, that's why it's freely available.

Country, first name and age are also essentially irrelevant (Country is sometimes used to confirm

that they're not trying to recover the wrong account).

Typically, the information used by hijackers in recoveries includes matching passwords,

payment information, contact information and recovery answers, usually combined with them

coming in from the correct location and ISP.

High-level players do sometimes contact us to request that their accounts be made un-recoverable

but this is not possible so we give them advice on how to make their accounts secure.

The simple fact is that a fair amount of accurate information is needed to recover an account

and simply coming to us with a name and location is never going to do it (the system will auto-deny

the appeal and we won't even see it)."

So following Jagex, the measures in place should be enough hold your account secure.

But if that's the case, how do people lose their accounts so often?

An account recovery process works like this.

The hijacker choose to recover the account, and select the option where they don't have

access to the current registered email.

They then proceed to fill in all information they know about the account.

Emails, home town, real names, internet provider information gained through IP addresses, billing

information, previous passwords and recovery questions if there are any.

In addition to some extra steps, it doesn't take much to recover the account successfully.

All with information you have posted online, or have lost through database breaches.

Because the hijacker claimed he didn't have access to your mail, his own mail gets added

as the new registered email.

With this, he can disable the authenticator through the website by sending a confirmation

email to the new registered email.

Voila - two security measures gone.

The final step is the bank pin.

Just three years back, the pin was basically void, and you could claim wealth through obscure

methods without ever pressing the bank pin.

That is no longer possible.

The bank pin takes 3 days to be removed, and currently there is no way to go around that.

Not a single one of the top-level hijackers I spoke to could find any way to trick the

bank pin.

If somebody claims the hijacker bypassed the bank pin, they're either lying, or they

spent 3 days or more away from the computer.

Or - maybe the pin was a guessable number, like date of birth, the current year or just

1111.

Choose your pin numbers intelligently, so some of your wealth might be saved, but the

hijacker still got on to your account, right?

So, what can you do?

In a game where seemingly the smallest piece of information could put your account at risk,

what action can you take to protect your account from being hacked?

It's actually very simple.

Use a unique gmail and password for your Runescape account.

That's it.

A unique password you don't use anywhere else, which means it can not be found in any

database leaks anywhere.

A unique gmail because that means your connected email can't be hijacked as it doesn't

exist elsewhere.

Gmail because Google offers the best email security online.

Added with two-step verification like the Google Authenticator - not sms authenticator

as these can be breached - your account is secure.

A series of popular mail providers like hotmail and outlook are all weak in security and can

be recovered with simple recovery details which can be found through doxxing.

In addition to two-step verification through google authenticator, a tool you should already

have on your Runescape account, there will be no way to bypass your already hidden email.

That said, this email should be a discrete one.

Don't use "your name at gmail.com", or "your username at gmail.com".

Make it unique.

Hidden.

And don't share it to anyone or use it on any other website or any applications like

for instance Skype.

It's a small thing that can make a huge difference on your account.

High-status players should however be more careful just in case.

So here are some additional tips from some of Runescapes most notorious account hijackers.

Create a unique password for all your important sites.

Your email, Runescape account and bank account should all be different passwords.

Also remember some websites, like Netflix, display your card information.

If your email and passwords are the same here as with your Runescape ones, a hijacker might

gain access to your billing information, which supports their recovery appeal.

Be careful what information you share about your account.

Things like creation date, what street you live on, your membership information and what

internet provider you use are all examples of information hijackers actively use.

Double change your username.

If your account is from 2010 or before, you might be logging in with a username.

If your login name is the same as your in-game display name, that can be an issue.

Finally - be sure to check if any of your passwords or emails have been breached.

Check the website in the description below to ensure your account info is safe.

After all - your account can't be hacked if its information doesn't exist.

There are flaws in the system.

During research for this video I was made aware of a series of serious flaws in the

security system which would put any account at high risk.

These have been forwarded to Jagex to ensure future account security.

There is also the issue of the authenticator.

Though this would save your account should a hijacker be aware of your current password,

it's useless in a successful account recovery process.

Suggestions have been made to add an authenticator delay, much like the 3 day delay to bank pins,

but years later this have still not been done.

This all might seem like a lot of information.

But after research for this video, account security really just boils down to email and

password.

Be smart with it.

Use unique details for the accounts you care about.

Only then will your account be secure.

Unless Mod Jed makes a return, but you know, what are the odds of that.
