How to: Connect Nitra CMV Valve to Productivity via Implicit Ethernet/IP - Duration: 6:16.

Here are the minimum requirements to use Ethernet/Ip with the Productivity series CPU.

For the Productivity CPU to communicate to the Nitra Valve, these are the communication

parameters that we will need for this setup.

So the input data is what you are reading from the Valve and the output data is what

we are writing to.

The input as we see here consist of a 5 bytes which is 8 bits.

The output word consists of 2 bytes or 16 bits.

1 bit for each solenoid possible on the valve.

To setup the CMV valve for etherent communication, you will need obtain the Ethernet/Ip configuration

tool from our website.

So, Navigate to our website and under downloads select software.

Find the EIP software download and install into your PCthe software.".

Once installed open up the EIP configuration tool and then select "Scan for devices.

Once you see your OEM Device.

Select and put in the Ip Address you need for your system.

I am going the following Ip address for my valve.

So, Open up the Productivity project you will be using.

Double click on the Hardware configuration and then select the Ethernet/IP Tab from the

top.

Now Drag the generic client into the grey area.

You can place an induvial tag for all of these elements or you can check the box Use Structure.

This will create a structure of tags that can be used for this device making it a lot

easier on the programmer to create, use and find the correct tags.

I am going to select the Use Structure and give it the following name.

Give your Device a name.

Type in the Ip address that we configured into the CMV valve.

Now the TCP port number for the CMV valve will always be 44818.

Click on the Green cross select Select IO messaging.

These tags will also be part of the original Structure created above.

This tag will become important later.

When it is enabled, It will start the Reads and write to the data blocks at the RPI that

we select for each..

Here you see that there are now 3 tabs.

Lets's start with the Input data block From this information we see the assembly

instance should be 101.

Now This array portion is a part that catches some.

The data array data type that we use here must match the data size of the input data

blocks.

The size of the input data block is in bytes and there are 5 bytes total.

So we need to create a data array of a 8 bit type, which matches the bytes, and has at

least 5 columns.

SO type in the name of the Data block you want to create and when you try to select

the Number of elements you will then be asked to create this array.

Select the Data type as 8 bit unsigned and increase the number columns to 5.

Select ok.

And then Increase the Number of elements to 5.

Now select the output tab . The Assembly instance is 100.

I am going to name my output data array as the following and when I select the number

of elements I will be asked to create the array.

Change the data type to 8 bit unsigned and the column size to 2.

Click ok.

Now Change the number of elements to be 2.

Now to setup the Configuration word Enter the Assembly instance of 3.

I am going to enter the following data array and when I click on number of elements this

dialog will show up.

Change the data type to 8 bit unsigned and the Columns can remain as 1.

Select ok.

And then number of elements can remain as zero.

That completes the client setup to the valve.

When we select Ok her we will be completing structure for this device

Next we need to address the Solenoid outputs in the output data block.

From this table we can see how the 2 bytes address each of the solenoids that are possible

to the valve.

SO we take the 2 column data array, that we created, this would be how the outputs are

distributed inside that array.

SO I am going place a Normally open contact with this Boolean to trigger this bit of word

that would address the 1st solenoid.

Now if you remember from the configuration we had an enable bit.

When this bit is enabled the auotpolling of the input and output block will begin at the

RPI rate that we had selected in the config.

SO I am going to make a Normally open contact with this Boolean to trigger the enable member

of the Device structure.

That completes the ladder code now transfer to your CPU.

With the project transferred and the PLC in Run, let's open up the Dataview to quickly

test our code.

Enter the tags to enable the comms and to control the 1st solenoid.

Send the edit to First enable the communication.

Now send the edit to turn on the solenoid.

You should immediately see the valve turn on.

We can also view the status of the Read by entering in the CMV_Read data array here.

This table defines what the status word indicatates on the valve.

This will be the polling rate for this device I am going to leave it at the RPI as default

of 250msec.

I highly recommend that the RPI time should not be faster than the application requires.

When you select ok you will now be creating the tags that will make up this structure.

Now that the client is configured.

You will need to place two Ethernet/Ip Explicit messaging instructions into your code.

One for the input and one for the output data block.

Let's begin with the Input data which is the read from valve.

Place the EMSG instruction into your code.

Here I will also populate this instruction by the Use structure option.

Make sure to select the device name we created in the hardware configuration.

Now for connection, You have two options here.

You have Connected or Unconnected.

The main functional difference here is that if connection is lost when using Connected

Explicit, all of the valves will be turned off.

If you select Unconnected and lose communication the valves will stay at the last state sent

to it.

Since we are doing the read, here, we will be using the Get Attribute.

And from the information that was provided before we see that the instance ID is 101.

Now this is the part that catches some.

The data array data type that we use here must match the data size of the input data

block.

So from this information we see that this is done in bytes.

So the data type of our data array must be an 8 bit data block.

To create this data array type in the name that you want for your data array and when

you click in the number of elements the following will appear.

Here we need to simply change the data type 8 bit unsigned and since we only need 1 byte

we can leave the columns as 1.

Click ok.

Then click OK on the instruction.

This popup will complete the creation of the structure for this instruction.

So that takes care of the Read now lets enter the write instruction.

We will input another EMSG instruction into the code.

I am going to put the following for the structure.

When we get to Service we will be using the Set to write to the valve.

From this information that was provided earlier we can see that the instance ID is 100.

For the data array we will use the following and when you click in number of elements this

popup will appear to create the array.

As before we will need to change the data type to 8 bit unsigned but this time since

the block uses 2 bytes we will need to change the columns to 2 also.

Click Ok.

Now change the Number of elements to 2.

Click ok on the instruction and this will complete the creation of the Structure for

this instruction.

So that takes care of both the Read and Write instructions.

Next we need to be able to address the Solenoid outputs in the ouput data block.

From this table we can see how the 2 bytes address each of the solenoids that are possible

on the valve.

SO that would be how the outputs are distributed in the data array we created for the output

So to control this from our ladder code I am going place a Normally open contact with

How to: Connect the Nitra CMV valve over Explicit Ethernet/IP to Do-More - Duration: 5:36.

Before we begin you must have a Domore or BRX CPU that is compatible with Ethernet Ip

messaging.

SO Do more Designer software and PLC firmware must be version 1.4 or higher and the CPU

that you are using must have an on board Ethernet port.

This will not work over an Ecom module or over the Ecom POM module for BRX.

This is the required information to setup the Valve for Explicit Ethernet Ip communication.

So the input data is what you are reading from the Valve and the output data is what

we are writing to the valve.

The input data consists of a single byte which is 8 bits.

The output data consists of 2 bytes or 16 bits.

1 bit for every solenoid possible on the valve.

To set up the CMV valve for Ethernet configuration, you will need to obtain the EIP configuration

tool from our website.

So, Navigate to our website and under downloads select software.

EIP configuration tool and then select "Scan for devices.

Now get connected to your Do more plc and in software let's begin with creating an

Ethernet/Ip Explicit Client.

Now this step is not mandatory, you could use the generic Ethernet IP client, but If

you setup a client specific for this valve it will allow for a timeout and retry setting

for this valve only.

To communicate with your valve, you will need to insert two EIPMSG instructions into your

code.

One for the Input data and one for the output data.

Lets begin with the Input data.

Once you Place the EIPMSG into our code.

Select the Ethernet Ip device we created.

Next either type in you ip address or use a variable for your IP.

The TCP port for this device will be 44818.

The Path data comes from the configuration we saw before.

Type 4 for your class, 101 for your instance, 3 for your Use Attribute, and for you Specific

Service Select that should remain the default of Get Attribute.

I am going to set this at the continuous interval of 100 millisecond.

Here the RES start is where the data read from the CMV valve is stored in the DO more

PLC.

The Response Length in bytes must be a variable and it will store the actual number of bytes

that is returned from the Get attribute.

The Response Max length in bytes will be 1, as we are only reading in 1 byte or 8 bits

of data.

So that takes care of the read Now let's set up the write.

Place another EIPMSG message Instruction in your code.

Use the same device, Ip address, and TCP port as before.

As before take the output data and transcribe that in the path.

When we get to service that will need to be changed to Set attribute

I will set the Instruction to write to the valve block at a continuous interval of 100

milli seconds.

The REQuest Start is the data we will be wrtting to the valve.

I have selected V5.

The number of bytes we are sending is 2.

Be aware that when wirting to this valve with Explicit unconnected messaging, that the valve

will stay at the last state if communications is lost to the valve.

Here we will place a ST1 contact in front of each of the instructions as I want these

to always read and write.

Now write this to the PLC.

Now to verify we are actually writing to the device.

From the Data view let's verify that we can turn on the valves.

So we are writing V5 to the Valve and from this table we see bit 0 turns on valve 1.

So let's put V5:0 into data view, turn on the edit feature and double click On.

The 1st solenoid should turn on.

You can select the V5:0 and while holding down the control button hit enter multiple

times and this will fill out the rest of the word into the data view.

We can also view the status of the read block by placing V0 into Data View.
