Youtube daily Dec 30 2018

Hello fellow travelers!

How is Christmas going?

We bet you are having a lot of big meals, drinks, family…

We hope you are enjoying it a lot!

You will remember that last Sunday we asked you to send us some questions about travelling

because we wanted to film our first q&a video.

Great surprise! You sent us a lot of questions!

First of all, thank you very much for having devoted some time

to think about the questions and to send them. Thanks, we really appreciate it.

Definitely, next year we will film the second one!

Let's go to answer them!

Our friend from Uruguay, Pablo, who is the owner of the travel channel "Qué viajecito"

(BTW, highly recommended), asked two questions:

Which is the destination you liked the most in 2018 and why?

I liked all of them but, maybe I would choose Albarracín. I didn't imagine it was so beautiful.

I would choose Extremadura. It has mountain ranges, mountains, cozy villages and amazing people.

Remember Merida!

Merida, Trujillo, Cáceres, Sierra de Gata, we are really fans of Extremadura!

What news will you have for 2019?

We won't have a lot of news. The philosophy of the channel will be the same:

showing the off-the-beaten-path Spain.

You know that once a year we make a bigger trip to a foreign country,

like the one we are currently sharing with you about our Southern USA trip.

We are preparing the 2019 big trip, but it is not decided yet.

We want to visit the only two Spanish regions we haven't visited yet: La Rioja and the Balearic Islands.

Inguel asks: How much time do you devote to every video?

From the moment you decide the location, search for restaurants and places to visit

and finally the time for editing the video.

Although we get along really well, we decided to divide the tasks,

so that each one of us is in charge of a specific thing.

Jose is responsible for the pre-production like the planning, searching, talking with tour offices.

It usually takes me around 5 hours.

Regarding editing, first of all you have to watch all the footage and to select the best.

If I could edit without any breaks, it could take me around 15 hours per video.

Do you notice the work these videos have?

Yes, but it's worth it!

Next question, Miguel from Mérida: which was the most thrilling moment while you were travelling in 2018?

Maybe when we were pulled over two times during our Southern US roadtrip

because we had exceeded the maximum speed.

You know that American police are trigger-happy and we were a bit scared.

But, in the end, they were really kind and just gave us a warning.

Yes, they were nice because we were pulled over two days in a row…

We were lucky because it was in two different states and…

as they don't share information among states… we were off the hook!

It was also thrilling not just because of the state troopers but also because I wanted to kill him!

Angela, from Vitoria, asks: "Among all your 2018 trips,

which one would you recommend with a budget of 300€ per couple?

Asturias is a beautiful and not pricey region.

For example, Redes Natural Park. It's not a famous area,

its mountain shelter in Vega de Brañagallones is really nice and cheap.

Our friend Jossie, from Facebook, asks: what kind of shoes do you use in on your trips?

Good question, it took me some time to learn about this…

Sometimes I used casual street shoes and I had trouble when trekking…

I solved this problem when, on my last birthday, my friends gave me a pair of trail walking shoes.

They are comfortable, light and at the same time very safe for walking on stoney paths and mountains.

I don't remember the brand…

We mustn't name brands… We are going to send you the brand through a private message.

In my case, as you may know, I'm a marathon runner.

So, every four or five months I have to change my running shoes.

They are not suitable for running but, at the same time, they are new! What I do is to reserve them for walking.

They are the shoes I use when travelling. Typical Nike, Adidas running shoes…

Oh, you didn't want to say brands…

Yes, sorry…

AndreaGP from Madrid. What is going to be your main travel in 2019?

I'm looking forward to visiting Ubeda y Baeza. Besides, we already have some ambassadors there.

Yes, it's true. BTW, remember that you can be an ambassador of your town.

For example, these guys from Ubeda.

They got in contact with us and we are organizing that trip with them.

It's good for them, because this way we can promote their town, and for us,

because they can show us this off-the-beaten-path Ubeda,

all those secret places that don't appear in the tour guides.

And therefore our followers can go there and enjoy it!

Everybody wins! Win-win!

Mónica from Barcelona, through Instagram, asked us if we get along as well as it looks like in the videos

or do you have arguments when travelling?

We don't usually argue, we get along really well. We are different but we complement each other really well.

As we know each other like the back of our hand,

we know that we must respect the other's space and these small flaws the other has.

For example, in my case, Jose knows that I need some time of for "adaptation" after waking up.

If not, I get angry…

Our friend Silvia, from Málaga:

How is it possible that you travel so much? How do you manage the budget? Do you work as travel bloggers?

Not at all, we don't work as travel bloggers.

We have our jobs, this is pure hobby.

We like travelling and we like sharing our experiences.

This is a question of balancing expenses.

We have a simple life, we don't spend a lot on a daily basis.

Regarding our trips, we always look for "good, pretty and cheap".

If we see that, in a specific trip we are going to have dinner in a Michelin restaurant,

we won't stay in a 5-star hotel.

If we see that, in a trip, we could book a room in an amazing hotel, we won't spend so much in restaurants.

The key is to balance the budget.

María Belén from Mérida.

Wow, Mérida, where we have a lot of followers and that video has been the most viewed!

More than 260,000 views on Facebook and increasing!

It's not because of us, it's because the town of Mérida is amazing! and increasing!

She asks: "Why do you call your car "Elvis"? BTW, I love it!

We love you love it!

We love it too! It's so cute!

It started when we realized that part of its driving license is "501".

So, I thought… "501, like the famous Levi's tag!" We could call him Levis!

But Sandra said no… it's not cool to put a brand name to our car… yes, it's true.

But, that day we were especially creative and we realized that, with the same letters of "Levis"

we developed "Elvis".

Elvis had some values that we liked like his authenticity, his glamour, his hot hips…

We have some friends who don't think the same. They say Elvis should be a girl…

What? Our car… a girl? Why?

Don't you realize our car has like eyes with eyelashes?

I don't agree… I have eyelashes and I'm a boy!

Our friend Andoni, from "El Cuaderno Viajero". We love you!

He is one of our main followers and so are we.

He posts really nice pics on Instagram.

We share our passion for travelling, it's normal that we like each other!

How long does it take you to edit a video?

We already answered it, around 15 hours.

How did the idea of launching this youtube channel arise?

You can summarize it better than I…

Yes, it's true… he messes up a lot…

Everything started with Elvis.

We changed our car and we decided to have the impulse to buy the car of our dreams, a VW Beetle convertible.

The thing was that we don't use the car on a daily basis and

it was a shame to have a car like this and use it so little.

And we agreed to organize more trips around our country.

Before we bought the car we had preferred to travel around the world, not so much in our own country.

But, suddenly, one day Jose tells me:

"why don't we launch a Youtube channel about our trips with the new car?"

I thought he was drunk. We? Youtubers? What the hell…?

But finally, it was like a way to share what we like the most with more people,

not only with our friends and family.

We had to study a course in Digital video editing and production because we didn't know anything about it.

In fact, we just knew how to take pictures in the automatic mode with our DSLR camera.

Abel was our teacher, we truly recommend him.

And later, we learned on the fly.

Precisely talking about technical stuff, Marcos, from Logroño, asked us what kind of cameras we use.

As you may know, I'm a bit more in charge of this topic. Sandra is the movie star and I'm behind the camera…

Although I'm appearing more and more, and I'm acting better and better, I have to say!

I also tell you!

You have to know that we have a group of friends who are planning to run a movement

against my presence on the videos…

they say I'm dull and boring and, on the other hand, Sandra is a real star…

No, we don't agree with you!

Followers, he needs some support messages, write him in the comments…

They want to get rid of me! You won't succeed!

So, regarding cameras, we started filming with the one that is now opposite us, a Canon 600D

But, soon we realized it weighed a lot and the way vloggers film on Youtube is

with their camera in their hand.

At that moment we started to film with our mobile phones.

We bought a Zhiyun stabilizer and… what an invention!

We also have a GoPro, but just for action filming like when we are diving,

or to film when we are driving or walking in nature.

The secret of success is not related to the technique or the material you use, the key is the content.

If we achieve the goal that you have fun with us, we entertain you, we push you to travel,

this will be the success for us!

Last question, JaviP. "What was the best destination if you want to travel with your dog?"

This is a very interesting question, because most of you have "furry friends"

and it's ideal to share the trips with them!

We recommend the "Valle del Baztán".

If you watched the video, we travelled there with a couple of friends

who have a black Labrador called "Rocko".

They could enter a lot of places with their dog and Rocko enjoyed so many walking paths this area has.

Generally all destinations in nature are nice for dogs.

We'd like to film a video specifically focused on "pet friendly trips".

It's in fashion nowadays, it's necessary and besides, we love animals!

Well, our friends, these are all the questions you sent us.

Of course, you can contact us through email, social platforms, comments on our Youtube channel…

so, don't hesitate to ask us everything you want to know.

Next week we will post one more conventional video. We anticipate that you are going to enjoy it a lot…

Please, subscribe to our channel and if you liked the video, share it with your friends.

We wish you a happy New Year!

We'll be waiting for you next week in a new trip on viajandoanuestro aire!

Bye!
