Asia, 2019.

This video will be different from normal, because it won't just be about one event,

but 42 events in the near future, all happening in Asia in 2019.

Now of course predicting such events is extremely difficult, but we can always give our best

estimates based on the information we currently have.

Before we start, if you're unsure of which countries are considered Asian (according

to the international community), feel free to check out our video series on Asian borders.

We will start from January 2019.

India will launch the Chandrayaan-2 lunar exploration mission where, if successful,

will become only the fourth country to land a spacecraft on the moon.

They will, however, be the first to land near the lunar south pole, a territory yet to be

explored.

Back on earth, the Philippines will hold the 10th edition of the Mister World competition,

an international male beauty pageant.

This will be the biggest Mister World in history with more than a 100 candidates from around

the world converging in Manilla.

The defending champion Rohit Khandelwal from India, is actually the first Asian competitor

to have won Mister World back in 2016.

Baidu, a Chinese tech giant, one of the largest internet companies in the world and China's

biggest online search provider will launch self-driving buses to the public in various

Chinese cities like Shenzhen and Beijing.

Trials for this self-driving technology are currently being wrapped up, with the company

planning to also deliver at least 10 of the buses to Tokyo.

Baidu is basically seen as the Chinese equivalent to Google due to Google being blocked in China,

but come January this will likely not be the case as Google has been quietly collaborating

with the Chinese government to launch a new, censored version of their search engine, codenamed

Dragonfly.

Amnesty International has called this "a dark day for internet freedom", which could

pave the way for other countries like Russia, Turkey and Iran to implement their own control

measures to censor content and opinion on Google in their countries.

This has lead to significant uproar, even from Google's own employees over 1400 of

which have signed a petition raising moral and ethical issues.

On a lighter note, January may see the Indian YouTube channel T-Series finally defeat Pewdiepie

to become the most subscribed YouTube channel of all time, making them the first Asian channel

to top the YouTube rankings.

Though of course as with anything on YouTube, this is highly unpredictable.

And speaking of being unpredictable, around this time Kim Jong-un is expected to visit

the Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow for the first time, which would make Russia

only the fourth country the Supreme Leader has set foot in since taking power; after

China, South Korea and of course Singapore, where Kim Jong-un and US President Donald

Trump met back in June.

Not much information though has yet come out for Kim and Trump's second meeting, but

it is planned for early 2019.

In about February, South Korean conglomerate Samsung will release what they claim will

be the first foldable smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy X, where the fold will be on the actual

display screen (so, it can be a tablet one moment and a phone the next).

Now towards the end of the month, Thailand will hold their much-delayed general elections,

the first since the 2014 military coup.

In March, North Korea will hold their elections - or rather 'elections' in quotation marks

- as so-called candidates are chosen by the state (hand-picked by Kim himself).

These candidates then run unopposed meaning it's fair to say (with 99.99% certainty)

that Kim Jong-un will win re-election.

In April, Afghanistan and Indonesia will also hold their elections, but unlike the Hermit

Kingdom, actual regime change will be far more likely.

Both elections have been overshadowed by a divided political system and threats of rising

extremism, which isn't so surprising in the case of Afghanistan where much of its

territory is still controlled by the Taliban.

And it's really not much better in Indonesia with the flag-burning, protests, and crackdowns

on LGBT communities.

Now I quickly want to say special thanks to our long-time patron and channel supporter

Bruce (currently living in Jakarta) who helped provide information for that last point.

And speaking of this channel - this 'Asiany' channel, April will hopefully see Kento Bento

reach half a million subscribers (why am I referring to myself in the third-person?).

I do hope it'll happen sooner, but with videos getting demonetized and suppressed

like our very last video (which probably wasn't suggested to you) who knows when that'll

actually be.

Of course, if you want to be a patron like Bruce and help support this channel, please

check out our Patreon page.

Also in April, Japanese emperor Akihito will abdicate his throne, in favor of his eldest

son crown prince Naruhito.

This event will mark the end of the Heisei period, the current era in Japan.

Abdication has not occured in the country in over 200 years.

Now the first Emirati astronaut (from the UAE) will make his way to space, followed

shortly in May by Israel who will launch their first spacecraft to the moon, which, after

India's south pole mission, will make them the 5th country to land a lunar craft.

And speaking of Israel, the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Tel Aviv.

Eurovision is a super popular international song competition held primarily among countries

in Europe; which (as such) might seem odd to some that Israel (a west Asian country)

is hosting and participating; but with Morocco and even Australia having joined in the past,

you can see eligibility is pretty loose.

May will also see Taiwan make history as the first Asian state to legalize same-sex marriage;

and about this time India will hold their general elections, which in their 70 plus

years of Independence, will likely be the first election that seriously challenges their

inclusive political culture.

Current prime minister Narendra Modi may be unseated.

In June, Japan will host their first G20 Summit of world leaders; and in Sri Lanka, construction

will begin on a new financial and commercial center.

This 1.4 billion dollar port city in the Indian Ocean will be built by China under their Belt

and Road Initiative; meant to resemble other major urban centers like Hong Kong, Singapore

and Dubai.

However do not expect to see this leading financial hub any time soon as completion

is slated for 2041.

In around July, the world's first air taxi trials will be completed in Singapore.

Taking a page out of the Jetsons, Volocopter (a German aviation company) backed up by tech

giant Intel and automotive firm Daimler, will attempt to transform mobility and logistics

in Singapore with their flying cars, based on drone technology.

The aim is to mitigate traffic congestion by opening up the first commercial air taxi

routes within the next three to five years.

Congestion is also great on the two bridges linking Singapore (an island nation) to the

Asian mainland, which is why around this time there are also plans to start construction

on a third Singapore-Malaysia bridge.

And speaking of southeast Asian countries, in August, all 10 countries in ASEAN - that's

Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar

and Brunei - will, for the first time, hold maritime exercises with the US.

Having the US and all the ASEAN countries involved would be the biggest display of combined

force against China in modern time.

China and the US both wield considerable influence in the region, and with many ASEAN countries

currently being at odds with the PRC over claims to the South China Sea, it'll certainly

be interesting to see how China reacts.

Though come September China will be busy hosting the FIBA World Cup, a major international

basketball competition with a similar tournament structure to the FIFA World Cup.

But it'll in fact be Japan who will really have their hands full in September because

they will be hosting the first-ever Rugby World Cup in Asia.

What makes this event particularly challenging will be the threat of natural disaster.

The event is held in one of Japan's peak months for chaotic weather conditions which

have left organizers worried at the possibility of a sudden complete broadcasting blackout.

September, just a year before, saw the worst storm in 25 years wreak havoc across parts

of western Japan, leaving a trail of death and destruction.

Turkey will attempt to minimize shipping traffic in its region by starting construction on

the Kanal İstanbul, an artificial sea-level waterway that will connect the Black Sea to

the Mediterranean Sea.

It will bisect Turkey over here which would result in the formation of a new island between

the continents of Asia and Europe.

The 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China will happen in

October, which is also when they will open a new record-setting airport, the Beijing

Daxing International Airport, which will become the busiest airport in the world, expected

to serve a 100 million plus passengers a year; beating the current record holder Hartsfield-Jackson

in Atlanta.

October will also be the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Ghandi's birth, which will coincide

with India's grand plan to finish building 111 million toilets across the nation.

Yes that's 111 million toilets, the greatest toilet-building spree in human history.

This will be a huge step towards a better, cleaner India, as hundreds of thousands of

Indians actually die annually from unsafe water and sanitation (primarily due to open,

unclean toilets).

In November, in preparation for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, Japan will finally complete

construction on the New National Stadium in Tokyo, intended to be the main stadium of

the upcoming Olympics.

Now by this time, if state sources prove to be accurate, Russia will have sent humanoid

robots into space.

No not as cargo, but as actual crew members - this would be a world's first.

Their repertoire will include human-like actions like pushups, fist-bumping and shooting guns.

And that might not be the only first, because Russia is also planning to send paying tourists

to the International Space Station (or the ISS) where they would be able to go on commercial

spacewalks.

They would even be allowed to film videos, which means in the very near future vlogging

in space (splogging?) might just be a thing.

Now while Russia may be sending tourists into space, they won't be sending anyone from

NASA, because their obligation to deliver US astronauts to-and-from the International

Space Station ends in November.

NASA has relied on Russia to get to the ISS since the retirement of the Space Shuttle

in 2011, which means that they'll have to now find another way.

And, well, they have, because NASA will be paying Elon Musk's SpaceX and Boeing $6.8

billion to fly them to the ISS, a first for privately owned companies.

And speaking of Elon Musk, Tesla (the automotive company based in California) will open factories

in Shanghai, China.

It's the first time Tesla will be manufacturing outside of the US, and while other companies

are trying to move production outside of China due to the ongoing China-US trade war, Tesla

will be doubling down as they attempt to get a stronger foothold in the Chinese market.

By this time, India may open its first Apple store with planned locations in New Delhi,

Bengaluru and Mumbai; with many other companies also trying to expand into the Indian market

in 2019 including Ikea, Xiaomi, Spotify, Mastercard, UNIQLO and, once again Tesla.

With India having one of the largest populations in the world, this isn't surprising.

By the end of 2019, their population will near 1.39 billion people, which would be 30

percent of Asia's entire population at over 4.62 billion.

And with all these people I guess it's only fair Asia get its own international song competition

which is why in December Eurovision Asia will be launched, intended to be very similar in

concept to the European version.

As for why it's not called Asiavision, well, that's due to legal reasons.

Now Hong Kong and Singapore have made bids to host the very first event, but it was ultimately

Australia that ended up being selected - which seems a pretty weird choice for the first

Eurovision ASIA competition, but, there were extenuating circumstances.

Throughout 2019, Chinese telecom giant, Huawei will consolidate its lead over Apple in smartphone

sales, solidifying its global status, and making them second only to Samsung (note,

that's 8 Asian companies in the top 10).

This is especially impressive for Huawei given their products are effectively banned in the

US due to being perceived as a national cybersecurity threat.

(Washington has accused the company of being a potential facilitator for Chinese spying

and cyber-theft).

And on this note 2019 will also see rogue nations like North Korea increase their cybercrime

activities worldwide with damages exceeding well over $2 trillion, and with one third

of cybercrime in general coming from Asia it's about time we all use a great password

manager app like Dashlane.~

Because Dashlane makes keeping track of all your passwords ridiculously easy.

It stores all your passwords in one super-secure place and auto-fills them on websites you

Defense Contractors Are Cashing In On Administrations Horrible Immigration Policy - Duration: 7:34.

Defense contractors are again, cashing in with administrations horrible immigration

policies, and these policies won't likely change as long as there's money to be made.

Now, this is a story to me.

Uh, I've looked at this story.

The contractor, It's just one contractor.

MVM is where this, this case of the story focused MVM, MVM is a contractor.

They were a defense contractor, but now they're saying, listen, we have this ability to handle

all the problems with children crossing the border and then we have to be able to detain

them, take care of them, make sure they eat right, have housing, and we're the people

to do that.

Okay.

Now, the interesting thing about that, what struck me about this story, it's just another.

This is another pigs at the trough for contractors.

Okay.

Pigs at the trough.

What I mean is these people,

I don't know if you know this right now, there are more multi, multimillion dollar homes

around the Washington DC area right now than anytime in history.

You know who they are, their defense contractors.

Okay.

They made so much money in Iraq and Afghanistan.

They're always looking for the next war.

Okay.

They're the ones that were chumming up, yeah, let's go to war with Russia, you know, over,

you know, over Hillary's election because it's so important to us.

We cared so much about Hillary, let's go to war.

They're the same people who are always making the big defense money.

So now what we have is no, they're making.

They're making a transition.

Every time you see something like this border patrol, the border issue come up, you're going

to see these little characters coming out of Washington DC and saying, we're perfectly

suited to handle this kind of problem.

How many times have we seen it?

I mean, whether it's a national disaster, you know, contractors come in besides fema,

it is just money.

It is pigs at the trough and that's what we have happening on the board right now already.

It is.

And it's a lot easier for these companies instead of having to go ship all their people

over to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Where MVM this group you mentioned they were doing plenty of work over there.

They were working for the CIA, logistics, security, all kinds of vague terms for government

contracts, which is what they all do it.

So now they're saying, hey, um, what we want to do is we want to take care of all these

kids that you're taking away from their parents when they crossed the border.

We've got tons of people who they know everything about.

Have you ever done it before?

No.

No.

We've never done.

We've never done this before, but we're good war contractors.

I took care of my nephew one day, I know how to do this.

But, and so they've been posting all of these job postings that they've uncovered here that

all deal with some kind of, you know, childcare.

They're trying to hire people left and right.

Just all over the place in anticipation of these contracts, which they've now been awarded,

I think a small one for about 8 million.

That's going to go through 2022, so that shows you right there.

There is no end in sight for this policy.

It doesn't matter who comes together.

If you have Laura Bush and Obama and the Democrats saying, this is horrible.

It's pretty much set in stone.

We're handing out contracts for the next four, six years to do this.

It's going to continue.

They're using, this a story we covered last week where we found out that during the Obama

years that the level of abuse for these children was over the top right?

I mean, the ACLU came out with these reports and the level of abuse during the entire Obama

administration was so bad that people, you know, that not only were they losing children,

we did a story where they, they literally don't know where 1,500 children are, remember,

right, right.

That's from 2017 but the Obama, they tased them.

They beat them.

They didn't allow them showers.

That was starting in 2009 the year he took office.

Okay, So these contractors now are using that type of thing to say we really have a problem.

We really care about these children.

Yes, we're used to working in, in a war environment.

We worked in Afghanistan, we worked in Iraq.

How much money do they make an Iraq, just the contract.

We did this, you did this story one time.

A $138,000,000,000 is just what the defense contractors made in only Iraq.

That, that's not even Afghanistan.

Almost $40,000,000,000 and about 15 percent of that the government already conceded was

lost to waste, fraud, and abuse.

Those three words, they always use waste, fraud, and abuse.

Okay.

For example, you remember the $12,000,000,000 that disappeared.

They ship in and they'd bring it in on C-130s, they ship in $12,000,000,000 into Iraq and

then they say, we'll start asking questions where, where's the money?

And nobody knows where the money is because private contractors were handling that money

too.

Now you see these cases popped up there called whistleblower qui tam cases.

They're more whistleblower cases that popped up just in the, in the Iraq case, the Iraq

war than I've ever seen because it is a new way of doing business and that's why there

are those gazillion dollar homes all around Washington DC where these contractors and

their lobbyists live.

So now what they're going to do is they're going to take the border case, they're going

to take this abuse of children that took place for eight years under Obama.

They're going to use that and say, well, we're going to do.

It's going to be worse under Trump.

You would think so.

So we need you to hire us and we need another $140,000,000,000 and I can.

I got to tell you my projection on this case.

If you look at the way they operate, it wouldn't surprise me if by the time this is over, just

taking care of these children under contractor rates will be 40 or $50 Billion.

Oh, absolutely.

And see what this also does.

The why this is an attractive to any administration is because it then allows them to avoid the

liability on it, you know, if a kid dies or if we torture them, which is, you know, reports

are saying now is basically what's happening.

ACOU has said it.

The UN human rights council has said that, but if it's a private contractor that shifts

things a little bit, then you can say, look, I'm Jeff Sessions.

I didn't approve this.

I didn't know we put them in charge even though they hadn't spent a day in their life taking

care of children at this massive scale.

I think the new tent city they're trying to build could hold upwards of well over 1000,

possibly as many as 5,000.

Important point and you raised it, but I don't want to.

I don't want this point to be missed their already contracting for another four years.

Right.

You see, they know this is going to go on.

This is like a new trough, a new piggy trough for the contractors and you're going to see

them just being moved in.

Their taxpayers are going to be killed.

The kids, they're supposed to be talking, taking care of.

We're going to see stories that continue, you know, not as bad as what we saw the last

eight years, I hope, but the stories that they tell the story about how contractors

work.

Truth about Happiness | Happiness Challenge | Swami Mukundananda | JKYog - Duration: 7:59.

have you ever had the experience of getting into your car in the driver's

seat turning on the ignition switch and pressing the accelerator only to

discover that the car is not moving ahead as expected and then you realize

that the handbrake has not been disengaged

now with the handbrake engaged if you had continued to press the accelerator

it would have resulted in one of two consequences either the brakes would

overheat and have a meltdown or the engine would overload and have a

breakdown we need to check whether in life are emotional brakes are disengaged

or not today on the first day of this happiness challenge I am going to

discuss with you the first tool to manage our mind and thereby become a

happier person and what is that to disengage our emotions from the external

situation very often the circumstances are not under our control

I'm reminded of a geologist who went to survey the holy Ganga along with a map

in his hand as he walked along in one place the map

said the Ganga should we're to the right but the Ganga was turning left would

this man became frustrated he threw the map and went from there saying if the

Ganga is not going to follow my map then it is useless now is that a proper

expectation should the Ganga follow his map or should his map follow the Ganga

in the same way the world is as it is can we not just shift our attitude a bit

to make it happier two friends having been in an accident together were

admitted to the same ward of a hospital both were bedridden but the first friend

would be made to sick up for one hour every day to drain out the fluid from

his lungs during that time he would get to see outside the only window of that

warrant he would describe the wonderful garden outside with the migratory birds

bathing in the fountain that was at the center and the flowers blossoming on all

sides and wonderful old ladies basking in the Sun hearing it all the second

friend's world would come alive what a stark contrast to the dreary hospital

environment but then he began resenting why does this guy get to have all the

fun why is God so unfair upon me one night

the first friend began coughing it was a different kind of cough as if he was

choking the appropriate thing would have been to press the emergency Bell but he

could not think of it the second best thing would have been for his friend to

press his emergency Bell and call the staff but he was so full of hatred he

thought he is suffering good he deserves it the first friend continued to cough

for a little while and then all was quiet in the morning the nurses

discovered the dead body and removed it without much ado the second person

allowed a few days to go by to avoid any suspicion then he made a request can my

bed be moved close to the window the nurses said that's fair enough he was

moved to the other side he then requested I am now reasonably well can I

be made to sit for a little while they hoisted him up and he looked out of the

window and saw the stark wall of the nearby warehouse

he asked the hospital staff what is this they said this is the warehouse next to

our hospital but he asked what was it that my friend was seeing they responded

that was the beauty of his own mind the moral here is that no circumstance can

force us to be unhappy if we are gloomy it is always a choice that we make and

we can do to think differently let us exercise the

stool to make ourselves happier when circumstances make us unhappy let us

remember that it is not the only option we have we can as well choose to be

joyous in other words nothing forces us to be miserable it is only a choice that

we make as the saying goes in English two men looked out from the prison bars

one saw the mud and the other saw the stars we will continue this happiness

challenge and I wish to provide you to equip you with similarly powerful easily

accessible internal resources without any need for external essence to enhance

your happiness and the happiness of people around you thereby making a

happier world for all of us

you
