North Carolina's HB2 bill removed anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and

transgender people, and legislates that in government buildings, individuals may only

use restrooms and changing facilities that correspond to the sex on their birth certificates.

HB2 was replaced by HB 142, an equally cruel law that imposes a moratorium on local LGBTQ

nondiscrimination ordinances.

The Trump administration's Justice Department, led by Jeff Sessions, openly opposes trans

equality and has sought to reverse Obama-era protections for LGBTQ people.
