It's the 20th February and it's the YouTube
monetization deadline. And you've not met
it. What does that mean for your channel?
Hello folks welcome back to vidIQ, my
name is Rob. If this is your first time
here we are the youtube tool and
channel that aims to help you get more
views in less time. Our tool is of course
free to download, a link is in the
description and while you're at it
subscribe to our channel and click on
the notification bell to make sure you
don't miss any of our content. Let's kick
this video off with a question. If you
haven't met the YouTube Partner Program
as of today how are you feeling about it
all? I'm going read those comments and
try and give you some advice. To put all
this into context the YouTube Partner
Program changed at the beginning of
January. New requirements are but if you
don't have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000
hours of watch time your content won't
be eligible for monetization. We've got
loads of videos on the subject so check
them out if you want to know more
information about it. February
20th was a kind of grace period for any
video creators that were currently
monetized but then we're going to get
removed from monetization because of
these new requirements and here we are.
If you are affected by these changes you
should have received an email by YouTube
now stating exactly what's going to
happen. If you want to know when you're
going to reach the new requirements
again we of course do have a free tool
at vidIQ which shows you the progress
to four thousand hours of watch time and
1000 subscribers through our
real-time stats bar so if you don't have
vidIQ now's a great opportunity to
download it. It is free for this
particular tool. As well as losing
monetization on your channel there has
been a lot of concern about what other
tools you might lose from YouTube
such as live streaming, video cards,
custom URLs. We've already done a very
quick video on this particular topic so
if you want to check that out right now
click here. If you have been
earning revenue from monetization here
are some of the basics. Up until now you
will have been earning revenue into your
adsense account. Adsense accounts usually
payout at $100 month by month but for a
lot of smaller YouTube creators such
as yourself chances are you've
probably not hit that threshold yet so
your money, maybe 40 60 80 dollars, is
currently stuck in that Adsense account
and it's gonna get stuck there for a
while longer if you're no longer monetised.
Now in recent weeks I've seen a lot
of youtubers really worried about this
money being stuck in their adsense
account then maybe YouTube's going to
claw it back because you personally
can't get hold of it.
That's not the case. If you do want to
get access to this money right now what
you can do is close your adsense account
and Adsense will send out a check to you.
But I really recommend against doing
that. You're closing the adsense account
which gives you all sorts of
opportunities and revenue in the future
so are you really gonna aim for a very
short term gain and miss out on a long
term lucrative opportunity if you do
start to become successful with your
YouTube channel in the future. If you're
not earning your revenue through Adsense
and it comes through a multi-channel
networks such as fullscreen or scale
labs then obviously you'll need to
contact your respective multi-channel
network for more information. Now to all
of you small channel video creators
who saw these requirements in January
and just thought that's not going to affect
me this is just another challenge and
I'm going to strive towards it and hit
those goal and you have done before the
deadline, massive thumbs up, big
congratulations. You all deserve a big
shout out so make sure to post those
success stories in the comments below
and I'll be reading them and definitely
posting them on Twitter well done to you
guys and girls. Now if you haven't hit
those targets just yet here's some help
from us here at vidIQ. If you want to
learn how to get 1000 subscribers we've
got a 10 tips video here and if you want
to learn how to get to 4,000 hours of
watch time we've got another 10 tips
video here check them both out. Hopefully
they'll help you on your way. To
paraphrase many of the things we've
talked about here on vidIQ recently, the
goal of monetization is about this big
in the grand scheme of things. The
opportunity to spread a message you're
passionate about to a global audience
and impact lives is infinite. Let's put
this a different away: why are you watching
this video right now? Is it because we
think you're going to give us some money
for vidIQ or is it because you think
you can trust us to give you some
valuable information about growing your
channel whether it costs any money or not?
I'll let you decide that one. And of
course if you're still not happy with
the way YouTube monetize.
You have so many other ways to monetize
your content that you're in so much more
control of and have potential to earn
a lot more from. For example you have
affiliate links you have patreon or
crowdsourcing or donation platforms, you
can have paid sponsorship of your
channel, brand deals, even merchandising.
And as always you have the option to
choose an entirely different video
platform where you think you've got more
opportunity to monetize your content. So
it's a 2oth February the deadline is here
what happens next? Is this the end of
your YouTube story or just another
chapter on that road to success. If it's
the latter: enjoy the rest of your video
making day see you again soon.
