U blood vessels and treatments
U blood vessels are benign tumors, due to proliferation of blood vessels, (arteries, veins, capillaries).
Common in young children, 80% of vascular tumors occur, in one location on the body, the other 20% coordinate in various positions, in which 60% of tumors occur in the head region - neck.
According to the study, some patients found blood tumors, family nature,
However, this problem has not been confirmed clearly, and no specific genes have been identified.
I. Classification:U blood is divided into two types:
1. Vascular injury.
U veins are common in children.
Vascular tumors in children go through two periods:proliferation and recurrence.
The proliferation process develops at the age of 12 months, then gradually decreases and stops at 2 years of age.
About 50% of the tumors develop at the age of 5, and are completely at the age of 7 to 10.
U pulmonary arteries in adults can be combined with other diseases such as:arteries in the elderly, venous thrombosis through trauma, malignant disease of blood vessels.
2. Congenital heart disease.
The most common are congenital angiodysplasia, common in newly born children.
Angiodysplasia is divided into several types:slow-flow type including angiodysplasia, capillary, venous deformity, lymphatic deformity.
Rapid-flow type:arterial malformations and mixtures of these two diseases.
II. Symptom:
There are many types of vascular tumors, but they share some clinical symptoms such as:
- The tumor is red or purple, no pain.
- Flush skin or mucous membranes.
If we squeeze or press u then u flat, let go u back to swell.
- If you touch, rub, may cause bleeding, multiple infections, and bleeding, danger.
We may experience some anemia:
1. Flat blood:about 50%, redness in the skin, innate.
The spots are usually brown, yellow, blue, pink or red.
They are formed, due to the accumulation of blood vessels.
2. U-veins:gnats on the skin of each cluster, such as the mulberry bunch, red blood, clear margin, and tumor shape, like "a large berries on the skin", usually focussing on the face and on the body.
Some external manifestations of bloody tumors.
Subcutaneous haemorrhage:a soft mass, deep down and tumor group, usually forming haemocytes, mainly due to veins becoming fibrous cave.
Long-term blood clots, forming white grains.
Feeling a little firm, see the hard grain.
Tuberculosis can co-ordinate with a tumor under the skin, forming a mixed blood tumor.
Bloody tumors on the skin, we can observe and easily diagnose.
However, with blood vessels in the throat, lower throat, superinfection, patients can swallow pain, difficulty swallowing.
Long-lasting, shortness of breath when inhaled and coughing a lot, if tumor in the larynx, sometimes cough red blood, bad breath, is depending on the nature of the tumor.
Lower throat larynx, see tumor as grape bunch, or round smooth, red or dark purple.
IV. Complications:If a blood vessel arises in the mouth, on the lips, nose or on the eyelid, it can cause problems with eating, breathing or vision.
If it is too big, it can be aesthetic and cause blood disorders.
If it grows on the female genitals, rectum, and so on,
May cause harm, should be carefully monitored by doctors, and appropriate treatment.
During its course, hemorrhage may occur within the tumor, hemorrhage, ulcers, superinfection.
Bleeding in the throat, lower throat if not diagnosed and treated promptly, will spread or invade deep into the larynx,
Risk factors for complications such as difficulty breathing, massive bleeding, difficulty holding, due to deep tumor location.
In these cases, partial or complete laryngectomy should be performed to remove all lesions, avoiding recurrence.
Therefore, early diagnosis of the tumor is necessary, which helps to preserve the function of swallowing and telling the patient,
At the same time providing the best quality of life after surgery, if we have conditions, apply laser technology for this type of disease, in the early stages of the disease.
1. Portwine stains:
Portwine stains or colorless wine, another form of birth defect, occurs in about 3 out of every 1,000 babies.
Portwine stains appear at birth.
They are pink, red or purple and flat.
Most are found on the face, neck, arms or legs, and in many different sizes.
Portwine stains will grow with the baby, and grow thicker into small fleshy pores.
Portwine stains do not go away on their own, they survive the rest of their lives.
Complications of Portwine stains:Portwine stains may be complications.
If it appears on the forehead, eyelid or both sides of the face, it is associated with glaucoma,
Raising eye pressure, untreated can lead to blindness.
Infants should have eye and brain exams if they appear.
2. Sturge-Weber syndrome:Sturge-Weber syndrome, characterized by vesicular decolourisation, and meningococcal neoplasia.
Deformations are most common in soft meninges, facial capillaries, and blood vessels in the eye.
Soft meningococcal disease, clinical manifestation in the form of seizures, mental retardation, hemiplegia.
Sturge-Weber's syndrome is related to the eyes, (V1) and the face (V2) of the trigeminal neuron.
This patch is dark red, irregular shape, and has a circular origin.
- Patients may have partial epilepsy, then progress to epilepsy.
Spasm, feeling pain, and lateral hemiplegia appear late in children and adolescents.
Mental retardation, in about 55 to 92 percent of cases.
V. Recommendation:
When you see a wine stain, there is a distribution of V1, which should be passed to the ophthalmologist, for follow-up care.
Eye complications occur in 30 to 60% of patients.
Glaucoma begins at 2 years old, need to monitor intraocular pressure carefully.
Eye manifestations, most common is diffuse pulmonary tumors, common on the same side.
Early laser treatment for wine stains, to avoid complications such as soft tissue swelling and hypertrophy.
VI. Treatment of Vascular Type:90% of bulging vascular tumors, and 60% of vascular or subcutaneous tumors, will go away completely within a few years.
There are some special blood vessels, because the focal location, size, because of its complexity, needs to be managed.
U does not bulge out within a day or two.
If this happens, we should go to the doctor for immediate review.
It is important to note that cosmetic problems, and in most cases, the treatment of these vasculitis, require patience.
Where the location, size and complications of the blood tumors, risk to the life of the child,
Or cause serious aesthetic, new treatment is considered by medicine or surgery.
- Flat blood can be cut, grafted or used by the method, cold pressurized with liquid nitrogen. - Cerebral hemorrhage, subcutaneous haemorrhage may also be surgical removal, if the tumor has a clear boundary.
In contrast, u will be dangerous if surgery, you can inject fibrosis with fiber injection.
Radiation therapy and injection of fibroids are no longer applied, due to its complications, such as the risk of thyroid cancer, scarring of the larynx, which causes shortness of breath.
Surgical treatment for adult vascular tumors, and for spreading tumors.
However, there can be severe consequences, such as speech handicaps.
The laser approach is very promising, especially for the darker ones, but the downside is painful to the patient.
Disease is only applied to tumors caused by insect bites, or after trauma, by good control of lesions, at the blood vessels, easily causing tumors and timely treatment.
Treatment of Port wine stain:Laser treatment is done several times, each approximately two months apart.
About 25% of patients with Portwine stains can be wiped clean, 70% of patients with improved stains.
However, laser treatments are of little interest to patients, as risk can also occur.
The color of the patch will be darker or lighter, but less likely, the stain may be swollen,
have a little sharpening or bleeding, but this is also infrequent, and can be treated easily.
Doctor Uong Anh Tu and colleagues in the Department of Pediatrics, Children's Hospital Can Tho,
A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of corticosteroids on pediatric blood vessels in 432 children.
The results were satisfactory, with an 85% response rate for treatment.
In addition to corticosteroids, vascular tumors in children may also be treated with propranolol,
According to a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, (NEJM Volume 358 (24):2649-2651, Figure 1- June 12, 2008 - No 24).
