Problems with Hiring Part-time Freelancers - Duration: 5:39.Hey this is the Daily Overpass. My name is Eric and I make apps. Now today, let's
talk about the problems with hiring part-time freelancers.
Okay, at the last livestream one of the questions I was asked a couple of times
was, "How do I hire a developer and keep them from screwing me over?" right and I
had to say, "What do you mean keep them from screwing you over, how are they
screwing you over?" and said well I'll hire somebody on Upwork they take a
long time to do the project, they're producing bad code I end up
chasing them the whole time all this kind of stuff right and it was and it
was kind of saying like what you need to make sure you have somebody who's
dedicated to it and everything like that right but I also say that I don't
genuinely hire people from I don't usually hire people from Upwork not
unless it's like a small project like it's a really small task like maybe a
couple of days maybe it's a translation task maybe it's a design task maybe
there's one little bit of functionality I need but I don't usually hire people
on Upwork for a large scale projects unless they have like really
good reviews I mean if they have really good reviews that's something that you
could trust but you know a lot of the times it's working with part-time
freelancers that can be very difficult. So in fact just the other day I was
contacted by a person I used to work with like 12 years ago, I mean it was we
were working at an investment bank 12 years ago and I heard from them in ages
and he said he contacted me saying, "Eric who I have a chat with you this is kind
of important" and I said, "Yeah but I'm afraid I don't remember those old
systems very much, it's been so long." He said, "No no it's not that I have to ask
you ask you something." So I said, "Okay" so he said, "I've been working at this place
for 15 years", he's still at the same place that I used to work he said and
"I've got lots of experience and I want to do some freelance work on the side. Do
you have any clients that could use some of my expertise for freelance work?" and I
and I looked at it and I said,
"I'm afraid we don't" and there was a fruit a few reasons why I wouldn't but I
didn't want to go into those I just I'm sorry we don't have anything at the
moment but the main reason is I have always had a problem hiring part-time
freelancers and I've also been hired back in the past as a
part-time freelancer and it's been really difficult and what I mean by
part-time is I mean they have a full-time job which they're working
9:00 to 5:00 or 9 to 8 or whatever a normal full-time job and
they're just trying to take on a few hours in the evenings which is fine if
you're working in a in a shop or something like that.
For software, a lot of times you need real dedication.
There's one time I took on a part-time job or I was working a full-time job
my last permanent employee job and I took down this freelance job on the side
and it was like this website to do for a client and so I went to work on
this website and it was all pretty well they were really happy with. I mean we
just everything was really simple, I set everything up and then it came up all
these little changes and then they're like lots of questions and it got to be
this point, where they were asking me so much I just didn't
have time to do it because I had my full-time job, I had family I had this
and it got to the point where I hated whenever my phone rang I was saying,
"Please don't be them, please don't be them." and "Yeah, Eric we have
this problem or we have this change or we have this thing or we you know we
were thinking about something." and it got to the point where I just didn't have
time to support and do everything and then I said this before, I think
every software project is the Pareto principles in effect you got the
80/20 rule. Where you produce 80% of the code with 20% of the effort and it's
that last 20% takes 80% of your effort because you're like
bug fixing, checking on different devices. If it's a website you're checking out in
different browsers and that's when you need that part-time freelancer the most
and that's when they lose interest, that's when they move on. That's when
they start complaining about. It just gets resentful on both sides.
This is just something about experience. Now, when I say part-time freelancer.
I'm not saying somebody who does freelance work, like they have several jobs
going on at the same time, like they just like that way of life that's different.
Like if you hire somebody on Upwork and that's their totally dedicated to
Upwork and they're just doing like loads of different small jobs, that's one thing
but if there's somebody who just has a couple hours in the evening and they
just want to help you out a little bit because it seems kind of easy and their
skills and everything like that. It's really difficult when they're not
available whenever you need them especially when you're in those crunch moments.
This is just something that I find, my team in the Philippines they are
full-time freelancers so they're, 40 hours a week. I've also hired
people for 20 hours a week or I'll hire them for just
certain projects but it depends on the urgency of the project.
So this is just something that I found
and let me know what you guys think. I mean for those of you who have hired
part-time freelancers, have you had the same kind of problems I have and I just
know this from the experience of having been done a part-time project on my own
for another client. How resentful we got towards each other, towards the end
and it was just not a good experience. Anyway, that's why I had to say no to
that person. And anyway, that is it for today. I'll talk to you, guys,
again tomorrow.

Should we wait for the third?
Son of Bapputty, the thief
You cannot be taught here
A shudra girl can also fall in love...

And that can be for just one man
The beauty of Kalari, the charm of its moves...

And who wrote that?
The Brahmins themselves!
I wish to marry a Shudra girl

Jeep Wrangler JK Dirty Dog 4x4 Black Pet Divider (2007-2018) Review & Install - Duration: 5:27.This Dirty Dog 4x4 Pet Divider is for those of you that have a 2007 and up JK and are
looking for a way to keep your pets in the backseat of your Jeep so they're not bothering
you and distracting you while you're trying to drive.
This is a net that's going to attach very easily into your Jeep, definitely one out
of three wrench installation, maybe about 15 minutes, maybe a little more the first
time.
Once you have it figured out, definitely quicker the second time around.
And we will talk a little bit more about that in just a second.
So, there are going to be a couple different versions of this netting out there, a couple
of different pet divider cargo nets out there.
Some of them are going to have more or less coverage, some will attach in slightly different
ways and some are going to be different qualities.
Dirty Dog 4x4 is known for making a very high quality net.
This is very, very strong, it has these rivets at every intersection, making it even stronger,
the plastic buckles are beefy, they're going to hold up, they're not going to break, they're
going to hold the straps nice and tight.
And I think that the way that this attaches to your Jeep is very smart, it's very well
thought out and it's definitely going to keep your pets in the back of your Jeep.
All that been said, this is going to be a little bit more expensive than some of those
other pet dividers out there.
If you're looking to save a little bit of money, you can go with one of the less expensive
ones.
If you want a better option, in my opinion, in build quality and in functionality due
to the design, and you have a little bit of a higher budget, I would recommend going this
way.
This netting is made of a polypropylene material, it is stitched at every intersection and riveted
as I mentioned, to give it the maximum amount of strength.
These buckles that it comes with are very, very strong, they're going to bite, they're
going to hold the straps very well, they're not going to break on you, they're not going
to stretch out.
And again, the way this is designed, the way it attaches underneath the rear seats and
onto the sport cage leaves really no gaps.
So, even if you have a very persistent pup, they're not going to be able to stick their
head in-between any of the gaps and get up to you, this is definitely going to keep them
contained in the rear of the vehicle.
This pet divider is going to come in at $155, which is more expensive than those bargain
basement versions that you can find.
But because of the build quality, because the way this attaches to your Jeep and the
ease of installation and because there are no gaps for your dog to slip through, I think
this is worth the extra money, as long as you have the higher budget.
And now a member of our install team will show you how to install this in your Jeep.
Okay, in order to get this net positioned properly on the Jeep, we want the Dirty Dog
logo to face out, and when I say out I mean towards the back of the Jeep.
There's also two long straps at the top of the net, these straps are going to wrap over
the roll cage and connect into the latches right here on the net.
That's the first thing we're going to do, is get this centered up and we're going to
wrap our straps around the front roll cage here.
Once we've got those centered up, there are two more straps that come out of the side
here.
All right, next we're going to take the two outer straps, bring them out to the side,
go around the roll bar and into the buckle right here.
All right, we can do the same thing for the other side now, we're going to come around
top of the roll cage here.
Next thing we're going to do is take the two bottom straps on the bottom of our net here
and wrap them around the seat brackets.
First we want to go around the inside right side bracket, then on the outside of this
bracket, back up and into the buckle here.
I am going to go around the inside bracket first, and we're going to come back up through
here, and we'll tighten this up.
All right, we're going to do the same thing for the other side now, we're going to grab
our lower strap, start off by going around the inside seat bracket, going through and
around and back up to the buckle.
Going to weave this through the buckle just like a helmet strap, and we'll tighten it
up.
That's going to wrap up our review and install of the Dirty Dog Pet Divider.

How To Make Salmon Cakes - Salmon Croquette Recipe - Fish Recipes - Duration: 8:42.what's up everybody this is Lyle with no hippie bbq barbecue what are we doing today
tis some salmon croquettes known as salmon cakes earlier this week I made two salmon recipes I did
airfryer salmon I did a cedar plank salmon and we had leftovers from both of
those so I figured what better than make salmon croquettes with those leftovers
if you don't have any leftover salmon just use the cans that you can buy at
the store for this recipe anyway first thing I need to do for this recipe is go
ahead and make the sauce we're gonna put over the top of them
and I want this to chill out for a couple hours before we get started so
let's get to making that sauce this is something I usually throw together but I
am gonna leave a recipe for this into the description you don't have to use
all these ingredients or you can kind of change them up yourself but you just
want something that's gonna kind of go good with a salmon patties or salmon croquettes so anyway I
have our mayonnaise I have some chopped onions some dill pickle lemon juice a
little bit of sugar pepper fresh dill I'm gonna be using some capers in our
salmon recipe but I'm gonna use a little bit of this brine with it Wow dang I've
got most of that on the cart there use some of that brine
now I'm just gonna hit it with just a little bit of this Wurster sauce this
happens to be Cajun power where's your sauce and just like a couple dashes of
that and we're just gonna mix it up
all right so this is all put together I'm gonna throw this in the refrigerator
for two hours and then we'll go ahead and start on these salmon croquettes to
making salmon croquettes there's really no right or wrong way to do it
salmon patties are almost like preparing a meatloaf Meat Loaf's you can
get kind of as basic or as extravagant as you want with the ingredients I've
done this several different ways as a matter of fact I'm gonna leave a link in
the iCard above right here take a look at that video it's probably a lot
different than even this one is anyway let's get on and take a look at what
these ingredients are we're rolling with these so these are my ingredients I will
be leaving a list of my ingredients in the description below first of all I'm
starting off with what I'm guessing is about a pound and a half of cook salmon
I'm going to be using bread crumbs I'm just gonna use as little or as much as I
need you've got to kind of eyeball that we have some mayonnaise some fresh dill
some rough chopped capers garlic red onions that have been diced celery diced
mustard lemon juice egg for the seasoning Old Bay seasoning would be
fine even just salt and pepper what I'm gonna be using is a seasoning that was
sent to me by one of my youtube friends rich over Rich's River smokers West
Virginia sent me he came out the new spice actually I'm pretty impressed with
this it's called Rich's rivers Rich's River dirt and he he sent me a few but
I'm gonna be going with the hot and spicy on this and we're just gonna go
ahead and season that to taste anyway let's go ahead and start putting this
together when it's just a matter basically throwing everything together
so go ahead and do that as far as the riches River dirt goes I am gonna go
ahead and leave a link in the description where you can go and check
that stuff out and I'm gonna leave a link to his YouTube channel and the
iCard above and the description below run by there show them some love
and we are definitely going to get busy with our hands on them you know you see
me wearing these black gloves if I was just doing this for home I just get busy
with my uncle of hands but you know how it is might as well cut down on the
negative comments as much as you can't do it I'm gonna go ahead and add this
brick from later on down the road once I have this kind of formed up just so I
know exactly how much I need to add the firm these patties up some part let's go
ahead and get in here I'm go ahead and have this seasoning to taste isn't much
as little as you'd like I think that should be good there I'm gonna go ahead
and add some of these breadcrumbs now we're gonna mix it and check for some
consistency and everything in here seems to be incorporated pretty well it still
looks like we need some more breadcrumbs you want this to be able to form a patty
so and these are panko breadcrumbs so sometimes these breadcrumbs actually
take a while to absorb you know the liquid this in this so I'm gonna go
ahead and mix this in and let it sit for about five minutes and then we'll check
and see how we're looking so this is right where I want it looks like it's
gonna hold together well for these patties now there's a couple different
routes you can go on this we could go ahead and dust it with some of this some
of these panko breadcrumbs flour or something like that I'm looking for
something a little bit more clean tasting so we're not gonna be adding
anything to this we're just gonna make these patties and fry them up so let's
get started with that we form these patties I'm going to put them on some
parchment paper and as far as the salmon patties go we're gonna want them to be
I'd say about a inch thick but you can have them as flat as you want this is
all about personal preference right here man this looks good
to skill it out and we're gonna heat that up to like almost just under like a
medium-high heat so we have our skillet we're gonna be
going into medium high I happen to be using an avocado oil I really like this
it has a real clean flavor and it's a very high temperature oil and we're just
going to kind of look like semi light coating our oil humming we're just go
ahead and get these in you're not going to want to crowd them we'll be able to
do four at a time you really only need to cook for about 2 minutes aside
remember this salmon is already fully cooked all right they look like they're
released and let's go ahead and flip them got some nice color on oh and these
are gonna go for about another two two-and-a-half minutes all right guys
this is a wrap I'm gonna go ahead and set these off on a broiler pan but a
wire rack or anything that would allow any of this oil to drip off would be
fine there's really not that much of it anyway
I'm gonna cook off these other three I'm gonna plate it up do a taste test see
what's up
so that's the deal that's what it looks like I went ahead and plated one up and
a little bit of that sauce we made earlier I'm gonna go ahead and squeeze
just a tad bit of lemon juice on here I'm gonna get into it right click see
what's up
this is awesome you know what for when I was looking forward to night I think I
was better off not adding any breadcrumbs or flour or anything like
that
nice clean clear
but listen like I said don't stress out about this if you want to cook up some
salmon croquettes don't feel like you need to be stuck by a new recipe add
your own stuff get creative I'm sure it'll turn out
great anyway thanks for selling my new hippie BBQ I appreciate it
comment subscribe now I'm out. Authentic Salmon Croquettes. Salmon Patties

First Alert Weather - Duration: 2:21.-------------------------------------------
Gov't eases household electricity costs for July, August - Duration: 2:23.When the mercury peaks, Koreans fear skyrocketing electricity expenses just as much as heat
related illnesses.
With the unprecedented weather making it near impossible NOT to be heavily reliant on air
conditioning and fans, the government is taking steps to make necessary changes.
Kim Ji-yeon introduces to us, the billing rate adjustment measures announced today.
The Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Paik Un-gyu, announced plans Tuesday to ease
the burden on households from electricity bills during this summer's heatwave... by
changing the billing system for July and August.
The progressive billing rates will be revised so that the first two stages are each 1-hundred
kilowatt hours higher,... meaning the lowest tier applies until usage hits 300 kilowatt-hours...
and the second tier goes until 500.
For example, a household of four using 350 kilowatt-hours of electricity in a month...
would only have to pay 58-U.S. dollars -- down 25-and-a-half-percent from the current rate.
"We expect households that consume 200 to 400 kilowatt-hours of electricity on average,
and which are affected greatly by the progressive billing system, to benefit the most from the
relief measures."
On average, the ministry estimates that more than 15-million households will save 10-thousand
won or around 9 dollars a month... when their bills arrive as soon as this week.
Though the discount applies to every household in principle, for those whose bills for July
have already come, the ministry says they'll get the savings next month.
In terms of how much extra the heatwave is going to cost people, the vast majority of
households -- 89 percent -- are expected to see their bills rise by less than 9 dollars.
That's based on analyis by the ministry of more than 4 million households.
Those who're going to owe more than 44 dollars extra... are only one-percent.
The ministry also unveiled mid-to-long term plans to improve the current progressive tariff
system... by conducting test cases later this year and implementing the changes by 2021.
"It also says it'll expand discounts for nearly 3 million low-income families and households
with babies to help them stay safe in the summer weather.
Kim Ji-yeon, Arirang News."
