Youtube daily Feb 28 2018

Back in 2009, in our early days at Google, we started working on self-driving cars.

Today, we're called Waymo and our fully self-driving cars are on the road.

They use a range of technology we've built from the ground up

to understand the world around them and get you where you need to go.

You're about to see how it all works, and what it feels like to ride in our car.

As it drives, Waymo uses LiDAR which sends out millions of laser beams per second

to build up a detailed picture of the world all 360 degrees around it.

It also uses radar to detect how far away objects are and their speed.

And high-resolution cameras detect visual information like whether a traffic signal is red or green.

It then combines all that data to understand the world around it.

For example, in this fraction of a second, it knows exactly where it is on the road.

It can also identify everything around it in full 360 degrees.

And then predict what those things might do next.

And it doesn't just do that for the objects you and I can see.

It can do that for things up to three football fields away.

What makes everything you can see right now possible is experience.

Waymo has already self-driven millions of miles on complicated city streets

and it's constantly learning from every single mile it drives.

With all that knowledge, it can plan a safe path ahead.

In this instance, giving that cyclist enough room to cycle past us

and also looking out for that pedestrian on the sidewalk

And when it comes to making decisions, this is a good example

of how Waymo doesn't just take into account your safety,

it also makes sure that both you, and the people around you feel secure and at ease.

So now that you know how Waymo works, it's time to take your first ride in one of our cars.

Take a look around.

You're now riding in a fully self-driving car.

Some things might immediately stand out.

The fact that there's no one in the driver's seat, no one turning the wheel.

And the screens, which show you what the car is seeing and the route it's taking.

But you might also notice that the ride feels a lot like being driven in a regular car.

And that's the way it should feel.

All this technology, which allows Waymo to see, identify, predict and plan

should make an extraordinary ride feel completely ordinary.

And create a very normal journey that simply gets you from A to B safe and sound.

And while it does all that, all you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

Mane happy to be a Liverpool player - Duration: 2:09.

Mane happy to be a Liverpool player

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has said that he thinks the team are in a good way and that the squad are very happy playing with each other.

Mane sparked his own form back into life spectacularly this past week with a hat-trick in the 5-0 demolition of FC Porto in the Champions League and followed that up with a goal against West Ham in the 4-1 win on Saturday.

And the Senegal international is enjoying playing in Jurgen Klopps side as they enter the final few months of the season.

"The team spirit is good and the confidence is here so I think we are in a good way. " he is quoted by Sky Sports.

"Every single player is always very happy playing with each other. We always try to help each other and we work as a team.

"I think that is the team's power and the team's purpose. Every single player would love to play in this team.

"We are lucky boys and we are going to keep trying to work hard and give our best when we take our places on the pitch to continue to try and win the games.

"I can sense that the club is moving in the right direction. There were a couple of difficult years at Liverpool a while back but those things happen to every single club in the world.

"At the moment we are in a good way so everything is possible. I think we have improved a lot in the past few months. "We know that on our day we can beat any team in the world.

Mane went on to single out team-mate Virgil van Dijk, who he used to play with at Southampton, for praise following the Dutchmans arrival at Anfield last month.

Hes a great player and I know him very well because he was my team-mate when I was at Southampton too.

He is a very good addition for us and we are very happy to have him in the team. For sure, he will make a difference for us.

He is strong and technical and clever in the games. He wins a lot of balls in the air and he reads the game very well too. he finished.

North Korea's high-level delegation returns home on Tuesday - Duration: 2:08.

North Korea's high-level delegation returned home on Tuesday... after a three-day visit

to attend the closing ceremony of the PyeongChang Winter Games.

And before returning home... the delegation said.... it was willing to talk with the U.S.

Our Ji Myung-kil has more.

North Korea's eight member delegation of high-level officials met with President Moon Jae-in during

its stay in South Korea... whereby the officials conveyed the regime's willingness to sit down

with the U.S. for talks.

The delegation was led by Kim Yong-chol... a top ruling party official who's known to

be in charge of inter-Korean affairs.

Kim's presence in the South, however, stirred a lot of controversy among the political circles

in Seoul, as he is also widely believed to have orchestrated multiple attacks against

South Korea.

In their meeting, Kim told President Moon that improvements in inter-Korean relations

need to be achieved in tandem with better Pyongyang-Washington ties.

After Kim's remarks were made public, the White House said the U.S. will see... if North

Korea's stated willingness for talks is a commitment to giving up its nuclear weapons

program.

President Trump said Monday that talks with North Korea are possible only under the right

conditions.

Before returning back home on Tuesday,... Kim was asked by South Korean reporters about

his assessment of the trip,... but the official chose to abstain from any comments, and just

briefly lifted his right hand as a sign of farewell.

The North Korean delegation arrived in South Korea at the same time a U.S. delegation led

by President Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, but the two sides did not interact in any

form or manner.

Kim's trip followed the visit of another North Korean delegation, led by the regime's ceremonial

head-of-state Kim Yong-nam as well as Kim Yo-jong, the younger sister of North Korean

leader Kim Jong-un.

The officials, the highest level ever to arrive in South Korea, attended the opening ceremony

of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics on February 9.

S. Korean FM says sanctions not aimed at bringing down N. Korea - Duration: 2:43.

The United Nations Conference on Disarmament is meeting this week in Geneva in a renewed

push to rid the world of nuclear weapons.

It's been over 20 years since the conference has been able to agree on anything, but UN

Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on the international community to work together

and make progress.

North Korea, though, is defiant as ever.

Won Jung-hwan reports.

Diplomats from both South and North Korea addressed the UN Conference on Disarmament

on Tuesday.

North Korea's envoy to the UN, Han Tae-song, said the international sanctions and pressure

against North Korea to get it to abandon its nuclear program... will never work.

Han also said plans by South Korea and the United States to resume their joint military

exercises will be a setback for inter-Korean relations, which have improved since the Olympic

Games in Pyeongchang.

And Han urged the Trump administration to stop what he called its "provocations."

"Stop all provocations that accelerate tensions including deployment of nuclear assets around

Korean peninsula.

Second, completely stop the joint military exercises which is key factor that undermines

regional peace and security."

Addressing Han's statement, South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha said North Korea must

realize that as long as it continues down the path of nuclear development, it will only

face more sanctions and pressure.

But Kang also said the sanctions on North Korea are not aimed at toppling the regime,

but pressuring it to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

"Sanctions are not an end in themselves and not meant to bring down North Korea but to

make it understand that its future lies not in nuclear weapons but in working with the

global community towards denuclearization,"

The South Korean foreign minister called on the international community to faithfully

implement the sanctions on the North,… but she also said that if Pyongyang makes the

"right decision," Seoul will be ready to work "towards a brighter and prosperous future."

Meanwhile, U.S. disarmament ambassador Robert Wood was adamant that Washington will never

recognize North Korea as a nuclear weapon state.

He said North Korea needs to drop that as a demand and respond to calls for it to halt

its banned weapons programs.

South Korea would like to see its current thaw in ties with North Korea lead to dialogue

between Pyongyang and Washington.

However, the U.S. says any such talks will only be possible under the right conditions

-- that is, on the principle of denuclearization.

Video shows Japan's massacre of Korean sex slaves during WWII - Duration: 2:17.

Video footage was made public yesterday for the first time... showing the scene of a 1944

massacre of Korean women by Japanese troops during World War Two.

It's the first known film evidence of the killings, which took place in China.

Some viewers may find this report disturbing.

Lee Seung-jae has the details.

The team of South Korean scholars and researchers that discovered the video in the U.S. National

Archives and Records Administration made it public on Tuesday at an international conference

in Seoul on wartime sexual slavery.

The 19-second black-and-white clip, filmed by Allied forces of the United States and

China,... adds to existing documentary evidence that the Japanese military shot and killed

30 Korean women in the western Chinese city of Tengchong on September 13,1944.

The video shows a group of bodies abandoned together, and a Chinese soldier, who is believed

to have been at the scene to bury the bodies,... taking a sock off one of the victims.

This is the first known video evidence of the act,... since the same research team disclosed

the Allied forces' operation diary in 2016,... which revealed terms used throughout the record,...

indicating the 30 Korean women were sex slaves for the Japanese.

With the video,... experts believe there's now overwhelming evidence to prove without

question the level of Japan's wartime atrocities against the forced sex slaves.

"Confessions, documents, photos, videos,.... what more do you need?

Our job is to further piece together evidence of a time in history that's being left behind."

Despite the mounting evidence,...

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe continues to demand that South Korea move on.

He told President Moon Jae-in earlier this month,... that in diplomacy, leaders must

make decisions while resigning themselves to reproach,... adding that otherwise countries

cannot establish future-oriented relationships.

Still seeking a proper apology from the Japanese government,... the issue is increasingly urgent

for Korea,... as another former victim died earlier this month,... leaving the number

of registered Korean survivors at 30.

You drank a lot.

(He didn't have to check.)

Don't you spit it here.

I tried to make it look fun.

What are you doing?
