Debut in the 60's, it was name after a

coastal community in California

Sadly it's named however in the Philippines

as the butt of some jokes

as people like to add a G to the end

Sorry

Now on their latest generation, Chevrolet says it has

better fuel efficiency connectivity and safety features

more than ever before. Let's find out what they are going on about

In this, the 2018 Malibu

The HID's with Intellibeam are housed in a smaller frame

which compliments the smaller slats that are found

all over the front clip. Now, there is no large gap to speak of

to allow the air in but the four mentioned slats are equal to the task

Unique to the car, are the lights down here which are

your actually DRL's and too is the emblem, the very proud emblem

I should say because it is textured and ribbed

Sorry but it does feel very cool

Even the keys emblem has texture

Nitpick if I may there is just one aspect on the front clip

that I don't really appreciate

There's a line that can be found on the hood that stretches

all the way down pass the emblem and to the chin

How much does it bug me? Well, not that much

Down on the side you'll notice two lines that begin at the front doors

and slowly but surely taper as you get to the rear

Given the car a very streamlined, very fluidic look

Now the car does sit on 18-Inch mags fitted with 45 series tires

Now if you take that and combined it with this

beautiful fastback right here and this sharp departure angle

it does make for a very good looking stance

Now for some, the rear overhang might be much but

there is good reason for that

In fact, there is 447L of reasons, now it's not the largest capacity

in this class but it's certainly not the smallest

Space good enough that that can hold Professor Klump

However, getting him in that might be a problem through this

Renee Zellweger lips, kinda tight

Golf bags even two, not a problem. Medium sized suitcases

Not a problem however anything larger than that

You might need Steven Tyler lips and that's a completely different story

Oh! Worth mentioning, the two exhaust, tucked away very nicely in chrome. Very nice touch

Now the toys back here include 2 cupholders on the center armrest

You got 2 air vents right here, 2 USB charging ports and a 12V socket

There are also speakers on either door and 2 more speakers behind the passengers

Now that's 4 out of the 9 speakers in total inside the car

Now, the wheelbase of this car is actually 4-Inches longer

than the previous model which is checkout this legroom

It's ridonculous. There's enough space in here to fit

two large adults easily and even an average size adult in the center

Thanks to the low tunnel found in the ground

Safety? Yup! Apart from the standard airbags found upfront

There are also airbags found on the B pillars and either side of the rear seats

Not bad

The color scheme is the first thing that may not catch your attention

because it's pretty subdue really

its got grays and browns, very comfortable, very laid back

Now your 4 gauges upfront and your trip computer

along with the air controls are, well they're pretty adequate

as too are the buttons found on the steering wheel

different though in the fact that they're all the same height

covered by a thin rubber film so that it is non-slip that's pretty cool

You also got your dual pane sunroof and your 2 cupholders upfront

and loads of cubby spaces that you can put all your knick knacks

Including actually a very smart way to put your umbrella away

Now, not only are the front seats comfortable

because they can knock Vincent down in 5 minutes or less

but they can also accommodate much taller people

Now, you'd expect the driver to have power right

Well, the passenger seat has power too, in fact both of them can move

back and down to accommodate much taller people

and not only does the driver have lumbar support, so does the passenger

The lumbar support comes out so much that it can be like a basketball

at your back say put it at number four and it can retract all the way in

to the same number of wins that the Cavs have in the 2018 finals, which is zero

I'm gonna get flanked for that aren't they? Meh, it's the truth

The 8-Inch screen which also doubles as your reverse camera by the way

and is extremely clear I must add, also has the Mylink system which is a

breeze to use, in fact we find that it's one of the easier head units that we've ever had to test

On any of the units that we've gotten, it's really fun to use

and while you're using it, you can also charge your phone

with the wireless system down here, it might be difficult for bigger phones

such as a Note or anything larger than that, but the smaller wireless units, not a problem

The one thing that I have to add about this unit is that

The whole thing is integrated into dash very very well

it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb and that I gotta say

that I do love

Under the hood, there's only one engine variant available in the Philippines

which is an inline 4 2L Turbocharged gasoline engine

which produces 250horses and 353 Nm of Torque

in an executive sedan, not bad

but even with all that power, in and out of the dreaded weekend traffic of Metro Manila

The Malibu was still able to do 10km/l. Frugal

Apart of the ease of which Chevy's Mylink is just a joy to use

whether your an Apple user or an Android user and it also has 9 speakers

that's around the car which are all Bose, louder than kids on a Saturday morning

it also has the following technologies

Its got adaptive cruise, its got lane keep assist, emergency braking

and semi autonomous parking to name a few

Oh! And get this, there are also 12 sensors all around the car

so that even Catherine Zeta Jones could not escape these guys

The level of comfort driving Malibu is well, is pretty good

The steering is light yet it's not disconnected from the road

Yes, there are some cheap plastics that can be found all around the cabin

and the road noise does kinda creep up just a little bit

But it does not take away from the very comfortable leather seats

As a driver you have really very little to complain about

and even much less as a passenger

There are no paddle shifters to speak of, in fact it's a bit confusing

when you run your fingers down the back of the steering wheel

where you'll find audio controls

Now to manually change gears and provide you with a more sport feel

Pop the transmission into L which activates the plus minus selectors on the shifter

Fuel efficient? Check. Safety? Big check. Connectivity? Check

the Chevrolet Malibu LTZ is available at P2,131,888

Now it's a bit pricey yes I understand, not the cheapest thing out there

But it's also not the most executive sedan available in the Philippines

And you do have to consider that you do get a boatload of toys for the driver

Now, it does also gives us the consumers something that we do

very much appreciate, an option

And regardless of what I think about that line

Yeah, it's a good looking option

Kartika Oktorina - Beyond the Classroom | BukaTalks - Duration: 12:14.

Okay, for me, it took 25 years to reveal why I didn't like math.

The only reason is it's "Horror".

Math class was always a class where I always feel afraid of; (full of) adrenaline.

Because every time the teacher called my name, I started to sweat.

The moment when I walked from chair to the classroom board felt very long.

(the situation) worsen when I looked into a (math) question that I need to solve.

(when facing this situation) my classmate suddenly changed…

They became strangers who didn't want to help me, not even looked at me.

So that is why I didn't like math, from not liking math, led me to not liking science, and it caused a decrease of my scientific skill and logic.

I am Kartika Oktorina, Co-->Founder of Ilmuwan Muda Indonesia and I want to make Indonesian children attracted to science.

The purpose of learning science.

Why science is important…

For young learners, learning science isn't about understanding concept of (science) formula…

But it is to train their science skill and attitude…

Such as being critical, asking questions, logical thinking, able to conduct verification…

That includes when they realize that there is a consequence on each and every thing they do.

These kinds of attitudes are needed when they have grown up as adults.

Unfortunately, based on my experience and also (maybe) your experience, learning science is terrifying or boring.

You were asked to memorize chemistry table form, who still remember it now?

I forgot already.

Or you were asked to calculate pulley formula…

Do you still remember pulley formula?

I, to be honest, didn't know what was the advantage of (learning the pulley formula).

So as we were learning science, we didn't understand its core point as well the purpose of learning science.

While in fact that same as other subjects, learning science can be meaningful; same like when we learn philosophy, cultures, arts…

When we understand it, we will be able to be part of it.

Meaningful learning.

The harder part is, to understand the (meaning) of science is different from other subjects.

To understand philosophy, then you can read, give a little point of view, and understand.

But to understand science is not by reading and memorizing formulas.

We have to participate in the process of science.

Experiential learning, learning by participating, by experiencing.

When we carry the spirit of experiential learning, it is not only in-->class learning, but also outside of the class.

By doing the experiential learning, we know the advantage of the knowledge and also the result.

The feeling of gaining the results will become an unforgettable matter for Indonesian children.

Now we look at Indonesia.

As we all know that Indonesia has 34 provinces…

And based on data from BPS that in 2016, there are more than 20 million children are in elementary school level.

When we want to bring experiential learning into Indonesia…

We face infrastructure obstacle.

Each local area is different, we cannot say that a local area able to provide the same infrastructure to their young learners as in (another local area).

For example, a planetarium.

Do you know planetarium? It is a place to learn about stars and space objects simulation.

Indonesia has only 5 planetariums.

2 of them are in Jakarta, 1 of them is in Yogyakarta, 1 in Surabaya and 1 in East Kalimantan.

If we sum up from the mentioned 5 cities, there are 11 million Indonesian children in total.

So it can be concluded that there are other 14 million Indonesian children who (for the rest of their life) don't enter planetarium when they learn about astronomy, stars and space objects, and earth.

So where they can learn from? By seeing stars?

Stars don't appear in Indonesia, it is in your eyes instead (joke).

So for that reason, since 2015, Indonesian Young Scientist started to create and find learning method (called experiential learning) that can migrate.

We carry mobile planetarium or so called planetarium that can migrate from 1 to another place, from 1 school to another, from 1 city to another…

That can even be carried overseas.

With compact equipment and low electricity voltage, we eventually can provide the same facility amongst children live in Jakarta; as well children live in Sabang.

We have visited 20 cities in Indonesia up to today…

And also visited 2 cities overseas.

One thing interesting when we visited cities in Indonesia that we met children with various cultural backgrounds.

We have one memorable experience that we remember until now…

I met a child in this particular big city in Sumatra Island…

This child wasn't allowed to enter the planetarium by their parents…

While the other 700 of his friends were allowed to enter…

And I asked why is (this child) not allowed to enter the planetarium?

And the child answered, "My parents told me that planetarium is a place to brain washes you".

Well we couldn't blame the parents because they themselves had never been entered a planetarium.

There was no planetarium in that city…

It is normal if they don't understand…

"enter a planetarium to be brainwashed". You may will (think) the earth is flat.

Or maybe some other theories that are contradicted with religion background or beliefs.

Besides the planetarium, we also possess another program that we carry around Indonesia.

And that is Lab in A Box.

Lab in a box is a nomadic laboratory, where it consists of 100 experiments that provides easy access for elementary school students to learn science.

We tend to use materials that are used daily, tools that are within their surroundings…

Because we would like them to be brave to try without fearing that they will break the tools.

And of course in terms of cost, mobile planetarium is cheaper than the cost of a school building a fully equipped laboratory.

Next, when we travel around Indonesia, we usually meet our fellow local initiators…

Who have many excellent programs…

And such programs are usually able to solve problems in their local area.

For that reason in 2018, we dare ourselves to create a fundraising platform…

Which connects fellow initiators, individuals, and NGO with government and private sectors with education funding program…

To support local community and local initiators to solve their problems…

So that an easy access to education can be provided fast.

For us as Indonesian Young Scientists, these 3 steps begin with experiential learning, mobile facilities until supporting local initiators…

Are parts of our responsibility when we stated that "we like science".

If we all agree that science is important, we have to start create a fun science learning (process).

With experiential learning, children will feel successful to win science knowledge, successful to gain science knowledge.

By having equitable facilities without waiting for infrastructure in cities they live in…

We will fasten the growth of Indonesia.

By supporting local initiators, we will create more educational individuals which will eventually be a solution for Indonesia.

That is what we do. There is one thing that of course you need to do (as well).

From now on, I want you to start sharing the spirit of interested in science just by telling yourself that "I like science". Thank you.

U.S. imposes US$ 34 bil. tariffs on Chinese goods - Duration: 2:25.

It would appear to be the start of a trade war between the U.S. and China.

The Trump administration's new tariffs on 34 billion dollars worth of Chinese goods

are now in effect as of Friday morning, Washington time.

China has said new tariffs of its own will kick in immediately.

Trump says trade is a war America can't lose because it holds all the cards, but it's spooked

markets -- including here in Korea.

Kim Hyesung reports.

It's D-day.

The U.S. has slapped tariffs on Chinese goods on Friday, the first shot in a trade war between

the world's two biggest economies.

As of Friday U.S. Eastern time, Washington started taxing 818 Chinese products, including

semiconductors and airplane parts, that are worth 34 billion U.S. dollars a year.

Beijing has vowed to hit back with tariffs on the same amount of U.S. goods, ranging

from soybeans to pork.

The move comes after President Trump repeatedly decried the U.S. trade deficit with China,

and accused Beijing of forcing U.S. companies to transfer their intellectual property to

Chinese companies to enter the Chinese market.

Following Friday's tariffs, the U.S. also plans to impose a second round of tariffs

on 16 billion dollars' worth of Chinese products in about two weeks, another action China has

said it would respond to in kind, by imposing tariffs on U.S. products including soybeans,

dairy products and automobiles....targeting American farmers, who overwhelmingly backed

Trump in the 2016 election.

Experts are warning that an escalating trade war between the two superpowers could disrupt

supply chains and hurt business confidence.

Hyundai Research Institute estimates that if the United States imports of Chinese goods

drop 10 percent, this will eventually cause Korea's exports to China to shrink by more

than 28 billion U.S. dollars.

"South Korea trades 37 percent of its exports with China and the U.S..

In particular, it sells a lot of intermediary goods to China that are made into final goods

and exported to the U.S. Growing trade tensions, tit-for-tat measures between Washington and

Beijing could slowdown South Korea's real economy."

The Trump administration in addition has mounting clashes with other trading partners, in particular

Canada, Mexico and the EU Fitch Ratings estimates that a full-blown

trade war between Washington and Beijing could cost the world economy some two trillion U.S.

dollars.

Pompeo in North Korea to discuss follow-up measures to the North Korea-U.S. summit - Duration: 3:46.

Secretary Pompeo landed in Pyongyang at 11:52 this morning and was greeted by two very high

level officials, including his North Korean counterpart.

We'll be watching for what comes out of any meetings there later today.

In the mean time our foreign ministry correspondent Lee Jiwon is on the line with the latest that

we have.

Jiwon, what are you hearing?

Yes Devin, U.S. Secretary of Mike Pompeo arrived in North Korea at around noon... and was welcomed

by Vice Chairman of the Ruling Workers' Party's Central Committee Kim Yong-chol, with whom

he had coordinated the June 12th summit,... as well as the North's foreign minister Ri

Yong-ho.

The pool reporters who are traveling with Pompeo said that the Secretary and Vice Chairman

Kim held a meeting to coordinate their schedule.

According to CNN, the U.S. delegates were then treated to lunch by Kim Yong-chol.

We do not yet know the exact time table of Pompeo's third trip,... but diplomatic sources

say the first round of talks was expected to begin Friday afternoon,... so Devin, the

two sides are likely to be talking right now.

And we are guessing that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un could treat Pompeo with a banquet

for dinner.

Now what's interesting is that a South Korean daily, the Chosun Ilbo, citing an unnamed

diplomatic source,... said that Pompeo will has brought Kim a letter from Trump,... and

a gift -- a CD of Elton John's Rocket Man.

The inspiration for the gift reportedly stemmed from a conversation Trump had with Kim during

their June summit in Singapore.

This reference to the name Trump had called Kim at one of the lowest points in their ties

last year -- "little rocket man" -- we can definitely feel a change in mood.

So Ji-won, at this very important meeting, what can you tell us about what's on the agenda

and who could be joining them?

Sure.

Many experts have been commenting on the powerful delegation Pompeo has brought with him.

It includes... the very man who was at the forefront of negotiations with the North -- U.S.

Ambassador to the Philippines, Sung Kim -- the Chief of the Korea Mission Center, Andrew

Kim,... the State Department's Deputy Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs,

Alex Wong and even the department's Spokesperson, Heather Nauert.

Now, this is the first follow-up meeting to the North Korea-U.S. summit held last month.

Pompeo had said on his flight to Pyongyang that he seeks to fill in some details on those

commitments, so the two sides are likely to discuss how, when and what to give in exchange

for denuclearization and a security guarantee.

To point out a few of those, they're expected to discuss the first steps for the U.S. side

and plans to establish ties with the North,... including setting up a liaison office.

As for the process of the North's denuclearization,...

Will North Korea shutdown its nuclear engine testing site, as Trump has said it promised

to do,... and will North Korea accept the new term, "final, fully verified denuclearization?"

These are some points to look out for.

This is Pompeo's third visit to the North, but it'll also be the first time he's stayed

overnight there.

Can you tell us more about that and Pompeo's schedule from here on?

Yes Devin, like you said, this will be the first time Pompeo will be staying over in

North Korea,... and according to CNN, the U.S. delegates will be sleeping in government

guest housing in Pyongyang.

After another round of talks expected to be held tomorrow morning, Pompeo will leave for

Japan at around 4p.m.,... and there he'll be holding a trilateral foreign ministers'

meeting with his South Korean and Japanese counterparts on Sunday.

That's all from me for now, but I'll be back with more updates later.

South and North Korea agree on additional sports projects - Duration: 1:52.

Late yesterday as the basketball ended, the two sides ended up holding a surprise round

of talks on ramping up their cooperation in sports.

And it looks like they agreed to have North Korean table tennis players will be coming

down South to compete less than ten days from now.

Our Park Hee-jun has the latest.

North Korea says it will send a team of athletes to participate in the 2018 Korea Open Table

Tennis Tournament, which will take place later this month in Daejeon.

"The North told us that it will send a 25-member delegation, which includes 16 athletes, to

the South.

They will arrive through Incheon International Airport on July 15th,... and depart the same

way on the 23rd."

The agreement was the result of Thursday's late-night meeting between the vice ministers

of Seoul and Pyongyang's sports ministries.

It comes just three weeks after higher-level sports talks were held in June.

According to Roh, who briefed reporters on the details of the discussions,... Pyongyang

also promised to send a team of 21 North Korean athletes to the World Shooting Championships,...

which will begin late-August in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do Province.

The two Koreas will also have more basketball matches, following the ones that were held

in Pyongyang this week.

The next games will be held in South Korea during the fall.

But the exact date is yet to be decided.

As for the upcoming Asian Games that kick off in August in Indonesia,... the South proposed

beginning the joint teams' training as soon as possible.

The two Koreas are already set to field joint teams for rowing, canoeing, and women's basketball,...

and there was no further mention of forming joint teams for other sports in Thursday's

talks.

The North Korean players for rowing and canoeing will train in the South.

But details for women's basketball will have to be further discussed through the relevant

organizations.

The two sides will continue to discuss the details of their joint participation.
