Hi, guys! How are you doing?
In this video I'd love to share with you
a very cool thing
that's gonna be quite useful
for all the language learners!
So, if you have watched my previous video
you know, I'm learning Portuguese
and I feel like I'm falling in love with it
every single day.
Though... you guys know I love Roman languages!
... cuz they are easy :)
No, just kidding!
I mean when we start learning
any new language
we discover a new world,
an amazing and totally different culture.
And guess what?
Yes, we all have many question to ask!
As for me, I always have tons of questions
I want to ask a native speaker!
And no matter where I am..
I can be in metro..
waiting in queue...
when I'm doing shopping...
or just sleeping..
You guys also make me many questions every time!
And I'm trying to answer everyone of you.
But it's getting more and more complicated
because my channel is growing :)
But recently I've discovered a cool application
and free!!
Seriously! Free!
It's called HI NATIVE
and it's right for making questions to native speakers!
And no matter what language you are learning!
HI NATIVE supports questions about over 110 languages!!!
Ok, let me show you how it works
and let's ask native speakers about something :)
As you see, you can sing up via email, Twitter and Facebook.
The you have to indicate your native language,
I'll put Spanish
to show you how it works.
And also languages you are interested in:
let's put Portuguese, cuz I'm learning it,
English and Russian
because many of you guys are learning these ones.
Then, you will see an ASK button.
Push this button.
What I really like about this application
there samples for any kind of question.
For example, "How do you say this?"
Le's ask "How do I say ..
"are you kidding me" in Portuguese?
Other kind of question is "Does this sound natural?"
Here you can record your voice
and a native speaker will check it and rate:
if it sounds natural or not enough.
And he can also reply with a voice message.
Let's put an English tongue-twister:
"Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers".
Other one is "Show me example sentences with.."
where you could put a word
and a native speaker will explain you
how to use it in a sentence.
Let's put something in Russian..
The coloquial word "Klassno"
which you have to learn!
Highly recommended!
Next one is..
"What does this mean?"
Some days ago my friend
asked me about one expression in Spanish
and I didn't know what i meant..
so let's ask!
"Estar piripi"
Other option is "What's the difference?"
between some things.
Let's ask in English...
"What's the difference between
"say-tell".
And the last option you have
is "Free question".
You can ask about whatever you want!
About culture or gastronomy.
Let's ask...
"What are the most typical Russian drinks?"
And now let's wait for the answers! :)
I usually use this app on my phone,
because it's quicker.
I mean, you are walking,
suddenly you have a question,
you post it and BOOM
and in 2 minutes you already get an answer!
And in fact people reply almost instantly!
So, 15 minutes have passed
now let's check the answers!
We made a question
to to say "are you kidding me? in Portuguese?
Wow! So many people replied!!!
"Voce está brincando comigo?"
and other.. many examples!
Even they sent a voice message!
Other question we made about Russian word
"klassno", we needed examples:
"Она классно рисует - She is good at painting"
"Это был классный фильм - It was a cool movie".
So as you can see people reply
and quite instantly!
Other question was about ..
What's the difference between "say-tell".
"Say - more general, tell - more direct"
"How does it sound?" in English..
and I put a tongue-twister..
3 persons rates as "natural".
Next.. what does "estar piripi" mean?
Here we have... "being drunk".
Ok.. now you know!
And the last question was..
about Russian drinks.
"Tea, kvass, kompot, kisel, different sodas".
So as you guys can see
people reply very fast!
Because we were walking for about 15 mins
with my friend and filming.
That's about it!
Thanks for watching!
I hope this application would be useful to you!
