On Independence Day this year, the NPR Twitter account decided to tweet out the Declaration

of Independence 140 characters at a time.

Now, typically NPR will read the Declaration of Independence on their radio show every

Fourth of July.

This year they decided to go ahead and incorporate Twitter and tweeted it out to all of their

followers.

And, predictably, Republicans absolutely lost their minds believing that NPR was somehow

calling for a revolution, for people to take up arms against the Trump administration.

Many people said that NPR was simply tweeting out propaganda.

Many begged them to just stop, please stop.

You're calling for violence against the president.

Few of these Republicans understood that NPR was tweeting out the Declaration of Independence,

which pretty much is the entire reason the Fourth of July holiday even exists.

These people were so low information that they didn't understand the patriotic act that

NPR was doing on the Fourth of July.

Instead, they were triggered.

They thought it was some kind of personal attack on Donald Trump and Republicans and

immediately began getting on Twitter, commenting their little hearts out trying to tell us

what a horrible, bad thing NPR was doing.

Again, this is disgusting because not only do these people not understand what they're

doing, but the fact that they can't recognize the preamble to the Declaration of Independence,

that they don't recognize those lines in there, that they don't understand what is being said

... That's not just an indictment about their mental capabilities, that's an indictment

of the entire American education system.

You know, the education system that Republicans currently want to dismantle.

When we have that many grown adults who don't even know what the Declaration of Independence

is, that's a big problem.

And it starts with the schools, but it also helps explain why Republicans are so successful

with elections.

If these people don't even know the Declaration of Independence, something that I'm pretty

sure every school in the United States teaches, most schools have it on a poster somewhere,

if these people don't understand that, then yeah, they can't understand complex things

like healthcare and national security and foreign policy.

That's why they vote Republican, because Republicans speak to their base.

Donald Trump specifically gave his speeches at a fourth grade speaking level.

That's what all the studies showed during his campaign rallies, fourth grade speaking

levels.

One of the lowest in modern presidential history, and these people still blindly support him

because he speaks at their level.

He speaks their language.

They don't know what the Declaration of Independence is.

They don't know what it says.

They can't recognize individual lines from the Declaration of Independence, like, "We

hold these truths to be self-evident."

I would think most people in this country would recognize that particular line, but

they didn't.

And again, it's an indictment of the American education system.

It's an indictment of Trump voters, but it also gives us a very clear picture into the

mental capacity and mental stability of those hardcore, die hard, Republican voters.

Ninh explains Develop Excellent Conversation skills using the Spotlight

Technique. We all know someone who talks too damn much, who likes the sound of

their own voice. And we all know someone who doesn't like to talk at all, and it's

hard work even trying to get them to talk. We've all watched somebody drone on

and on about the subject we've got no interest in. And we've all seen someone

who's blatantly switched off to what we've been saying to them. If any of

these people describes you then you need to listen very very carefully. I teach in

my classes something called the 'spotlight technique' this is a technique

that makes conversation engaging and more importantly evenly distributed. When

you or someone else is talking you're effectively shining a spotlight on them

and it stays there until someone stops talking, or, you ask them a question and

force them to talk. The spotlight's now on them they're the ones that are now

talking. You can control how much each person is talkin,g and you can change

that at will, once you know how this technique works. For example you're

talking to somebody who doesn't like to talk. What I try and do is open them up

ask them lots of open-ended questions, keep the spotlight pointed directly

towards them. Keep them talking, keep the spotlight pointed at them. Now if they

start to get a little bit uncomfortable, or I feel that that they're not talking

or the conversations getting stagnant, I point the spotlight back at myself. I

talk for a little bit before pointing the spotlight back at them. Adversely

people who like to talk take the spotlight and keep it on themselves, and

they don't shine it on anybody else. They keep it on themselves and they keep talking

and they keep talking, and they keep talking, and generally I like to let people talk who like to talk, if

that's what they like to do. But sometimes I'll have to wrestle the

spotlight, give my two cents before pointing it back at them. Remember guys

the goal here is excellent conversation, and you want a ratio of 50/50

50 percent talking, 50 percent listening. If both of you are talking at the same time

or if neither of you are talking, or if one person is talking more than the

other then obviously you're doing something wrong. Try it out with a friend

or a family member. Physically use a spotlight if you have

to do, preferably one with battery because I've no battery for this thing!

When you next have a conversation with someone

imagine that giant spotlight pointing either towards you or towards them and

imagine that you are in control of that conversation. You can steer the spotlight

to whoever you want to talk remember 50% talking and 50% listening that's

pretty much the golden ratio here. A lot of people say that I'm a really easy guy

to talk to, and that's one of the techniques I use in order to make that

happen and put people at ease. Try it for yourself and watch how conversation can

a knowledge of the human beings at the other end of the deal.

We miss it in our "connected world."

And video is that online handshake that shows your personality, your knowledge, and how

you feel about what you're trying to provide your customers.

Google loves video just as much as people do.

Search engines reward websites that have video on them and videos linking to them.

When you use social media the right way, a wonderful thing happens: you have the opportunity

Mix 1 to 2 tablespoons of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar into a glass of lukewarm
