Youtube daily Dec 10 2018

- I've got a question for you to kick this one off.

What's your number one YouTube resolution in 2019?

Let us know in the comments below

and in the meantime,

we've got 10 simple practical resolutions

to help grow your channel.

Let's do this.

- [Narrator] VidIQ.

- [Narrator] VidIQ.

- [Narrator] Vidiq.com.

- Get that channel banner sorted.

This is the advertising billboard for your channel.

It should tell people what you do on your channel and why.

It should visually communicate that message

and represent authority and passion

and it should be consistent with the branding, color

and design of your thumbnails.

Oh and make sure it's mobile friendly too

as the sides do get chopped off.

In the About section, write a channel description

as if you were writing a tweet of 140 characters.

This is what people will be able to read

when they search and find your channel.

You can apply the same strategy to video descriptions too.

Your audience can always read the first couple of lines,

so make them count.

Let's be honest, when people first visit a channel,

they don't care about you,

they wanna know what's in it for them, me, me, me.

Nobody cares about me on vidIQ, do they?

That's a little upsetting that actually.

So, make sure the channel description

is about your channel can do for your audience.

Don't write a self-indulgent biography.

A simple way to check this

is to search how many times you or your appears

in the About section.

Hello everyone, by the way, my name is Rob.

Welcome to vidIQ.

If this is your first time

in these glorious YouTube surroundings,

we are the tooling channel

that aims to help you get more views in less time

by educating you on your YouTube journey.

We have a Chrome extension

that will help you do just that

by researching YouTube, analyzing videos,

auditing your own channel

and taking actionable steps.

It is free to download

and there is a link in the video description.

Be consistent.

Be consistent.

Be consistent.

Call it your channel style and apply it

to absolutely everything,

whether it's the fonts,

colors, logos, brand images,

use them throughout your channel art,

thumbnails, video intros

and even the lower thirds, just like this one.

Think of your channel as your front room

or your place of business

and you're inviting in a guests or a customer.

Make it as welcoming as possible.

Have a dedicated channel trailer

or use a video that is good at converting viewers

into subscribers as your channel trailer.

Create a playlist that shows off your best content

and use it to introduce your audience

to your channel and also,

put the most recent uploads playlists near the top

so people know your channel is still active

and posting on a, remember, that word, consistent basis.

Got another question for you know.

Of the resolutions that you've seen so far,

which do you need to work on first and fast?

Let us know, of course, in the comments below.

The reason we're asking you this now

is because we're about midway through the video

and we're neatly segwaying into our next topic

which is to engage your audience as much as possible.

One of the mistakes many video creators make

is to ask questions at the end of a video

and by that time you've lost a significant portion

of your audience.

Just take a look at your audience retention

to find that out.

By asking them something at the beginning,

the middle and the end of a video,

maybe having a voting poll as well,

really does help keep your audience engaged

along with the content.

Now then, this thing down here

is your branding watermark

and it's a call to action for viewers

to subscribe to your channel.

In order for it to achieve its objective,

it should say exactly what it does.

Instead of using your channel logo,

have something that invites viewers

to subscribe to your channel.

We use this very simple subscribe button

and once we switch to this,

our click rate on this button increased more

than 500% instantly.

We've included this graphic as a download

in the video description

but for more information on how to create your own

and set it up on YouTube,

watch the video you can see on screen now.

And did you notice what we did there?

We referenced our own related content

to encourage the audience to stick around

in the vidIQ YouTube universe.

Always plug your own content

and directly reference it on screen.

The most stupidly over enthusiastic, the better.

You work is not finished when you press the Publish button.

Respond to every single comment.

If you get too many comments,

dedicate an hour a day to it.

If your audience is taking the time to write to you,

you should respect their time and energy by replaying back.

You could even pin the best comments to your videos

or pin your own comments

to continue the conversation in the comment section.

This is where connections begin

which could evolve into collaborations,

brand deals, friendships and more.

Oh and don't forget to use the YouTube Community tab.

It's available to all channels with over 1,000 subscribers

and you will often find that a well-crafted question

or voting poll gets as much engagement,

if not more than your videos.

For more information on how to use it,

we've got some handy videos right here.

This is a challenge I want you try and tackle

for your next video.

It sounds really easy

but believe you me when you're programmed

to say it every single video,

you just can't help yourself.

Do not say at the end of your video

trigger phrases such as that's it for this one,

hope you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching.

As soon as you say things like that,

the audience knows that the content

has effectively finished and they leave the video in droves.

If you want to check your audience retention,

it likely drops off a cliff as you say something like that.

Instead, promote related content

such as this awesome stuff over here

or just do a hard finish. (clapping)

Standing Desk | What Are The Standing Desk Health Benefits (2018) - Duration: 4:32.

Do standing desks actually make us more healthy?

Well it's time for some scientific facts to help you make that decision

we all know that we need to be more active but there's increasing evidence that we need to spend less time

sat down on our cheeks, time for a quick quiz how many hours on average do adults

of working age in England sit or lie down whilst being awake?

is it 4.5 hours

9.5 hours

or 7.5 hours

I think maybe a little drumroll thing now

yeah, time's up

9.5 hours! now that's a lot of sedentary behaviour which isn't a really good for us

so research from the NHS actually shows that compared to the shortest time spent sedentary

the longest time spent sedentary was associated with

actually lets do a little B-roll thing and a voiceover, I think it will look quite cool and it will break it up a little

at 112% increase in risk of type 2 diabetes

147% percent increase in cardiovascular events

90% increase in death due to cardiovascular events

and a 49% increase in death due to any cause

now before we begin talking about standing desks if you're a regular viewer of my videos you'll know that I'm

always transparent and open about everything I want a standing desk have

been kind enough to send me their EIGER pro standing desk for this video

but they've had no input or influence on this piece now if you'd like to find out more

information about I want a standing desk or their products I've left a link

in the description below for you now let's get back to the video

so in June 2015 the British Journal of Sports Medicine released the first guidance on

curbing the health risks mentioned earlier from sitting down too much at

work they called for sit-stand desks and regular walks now the guidance suggests

that office workers should be on their feet during working hours for a minimum

of two hours a day and this should eventually be increased to four hours a day

I've just kind of reflected on what I said so just to be clear this doesn't

mean stand up for four hours in one go because that would be difficult the

whole point of this is to break up prolonged sitting so break it up by

using a standing desk, going for regular walks or doing standing activities the

aim is to stand up for four hours in total during the day now if you want to read

the full article I've left a link in the description below so there are times

that I can quite easily and I'll repeat that quite easily spend about four to

eight hours sat down editing long duration videos that we make for various

companies and I've actually began to enjoy mixing it up from sitting and

standing especially once I start to feel quite achey from sitting down for too

long now the transition from sitting to standing was pretty easy it does feel a

little strange using the keyboard and mouse to begin with but you'll get used

to it I'd say the biggest thing that you needs to acclimatise to is what to do

with your feet which I know it sounds really strange but when you're sat down you

don't really think of your feet much but suddenly when you stand up it's always

on your mind I'd also recommend that you wear

comfortable Footwear as it will really help now let's move on to a very recent

study from October 2018 and it was actually done on a 146 NHS office workers

for a period of 12 months the study found that providing NHS office workers

with an adjustable desk so they could either sit or stand led to a reduction

of daily sitting time by an hour now if you want to read the full study I've

left a link in the description below the study also revealed that workers

provided with adjustable desks at work reported better job performance reduced

anxiety, reduced sickness at work and a better overall quality of life

now because of the size of this study we can't be sure of the accuracy of these

outcomes so these are the facts and I think that more evidence and longer

studies are needed to give greater certainty to the recommendations given

but one thing that we do know is that how bad a sedentary lifestyle can be

for us and we mentioned these at the start of the video so I think I'll end

the video like this we know that being active is good for your physical and

mental health and breaking up prolonged periods of sitting can make a big

difference so I really hope this video helps you make a decision on trying to

stand more and be more active whilst working

hey guys thanks for watching this week's video make sure to click that like follow or subscribe button now

Scheduling: Copy Course Catalog - Duration: 2:50.

[MUSIC]

Hello! My name is Denise Miller from BPSTechnology.

Today I am going to go over copying my school course catalog from the current school year to the built year.

Before I can do any work scheduling work for next year I need to have my school course

catalog for next year in place.

Middle schools and high schools will typically do this in the November-December time-frame,

while elementary schools will do this much later, usually around May or June.

To copy my school course catalog, from School View, I'm going to the Schedule top tab, Courses side tab.

By default I open to the Current School Year.

If I change my filter to the Build Year, I see that I have no courses.

To copy my course catalog, I click Options>Copy Course Catalog.

I see, "Copy from" which defaults to the Current School Year and "Copy to," which

defaults to the Build Year.

There may be times I want to change this, but when I'm copying my course catalog for

the first time this is what I want.

I have a checkbox to "Replace existing."

There may be times I do want to replace my catalog, but caution should be used with this.

If any teacher recommendations have been made or any student request entered, "Replace

existing" will delete the recommendations and the requests.

For the courses to copy, I have "Copy all, a Selection or a Snapshot."

When I'm copying my course catalog for the first time I do want to copy all.

There may be times I do want to copy just a selection or just a snapshot, but again,

first time copying my course catalog, I want to select, "Copy all."

I click "Okay" and my course catalog from the current school year is copied to the Build year.

This is the first step in starting my scheduling process for the next school year.

Thank you for watching!

Leno reveals Koscielny's shock role in the win over Spurs - Duration: 3:11.

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has revealed that Laurent Koscielny played a huge role in the team's 4-2 victory over Spurs at the start of the month

Aiming to keep pace with the Lilywhites in the race for a Champions League spot, the Gunners came from 2-1 down to win courtesy of three second-half goals

Speaking after Saturday's 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town at the Emirates, the summer signing stated that the Frenchman gave an impassioned speech to the Arsenal team just ahead of kick-off

Clearly having a big impact on the players as they produced a brilliant performance to end Spurs' decent run of form, Leno has claimed that Koscielny is the "perfect captain" for the club

"Before Tottenham he was not in the squad, but five minutes before the game he said many, many good things about the history of the game, how important it is for the fans, for the club, for every player," said the German, as reported by the Independent

"He is the perfect captain for us. In training, you see how he is talking to other players

"We have many young players and he talks to them, and for me he is a big personality in the team, in the dressing room

"  Looking set to make his comeback this week following seven months out with an Achilles injury

Leno is looking forward to the long-serving defender's return given the injuries and suspensions in defence at present

"He is a big personality and of course he has big quality," added the shoot-stopper

"We should give him time. The coach is calm with him, because he was for a long time injured

"I am happy for him that maybe he will play. I think he will play, because he needs the confidence

His body also needs the feeling for the game.  "Of course, he has trained for a long time

But games are more difficult, because the game is different for your head. He will maybe start on Thursday, and of course he will be an option for the next weeks
