Why Airbnb Hosts Complain About Guests - Is it Justified? - Duration: 7:24.
Why do AirBnB hosts complain that the guests left the place dirty, and yet they charge
a cleaning fee?
It's a great question, and we're going to talk about that today.
Hi, there.
I'm Angela Brown, and this is Ask A House Cleaner.
This is a show where you get to ask a house cleaning question,
and I get to help you find an answer.
Now, today's show is brought to us by TurnoverCleaningTips.com,
and that is for turnover service.
That's house cleaners that turnover a short-term rental, and get it ready for the next guest.
They come in, and they do all of the cleanings, and they do all of the staging, which is setting
out toiletries and making sure that there are extra garbage bags, make sure that the
beds are made, and do all the things that are required to get ready for the next guest.
So if you are an AirBnB host, or you have your own short-term rental that you have,
or maybe you are a cleaner that offers turnover service, this is for you, TurnoverCleaningTips.com
All right, today is from a guest who wants to know why do AirBnB hosts complain that
other guests left the place dirty, and yet they charge a cleaning fee?
Well, that's a fair question, and what it comes down to is this: it's a new space.
And you're like, "What?
What is a new space?"
New space is this: whenever, as humans, we go into a new space, we're taking in everything
around us, and it's kind of like sensory overload.
Do you remember when you started driving a car?
You get in the car, and you're scared a little bit, and you don't know if you should push
on the gas, or the brake, or when do you take your foot off the brake?
How is the engine engaging?
Are you supposed to back up now?
Do you look this way, or do you look that way?
There's all this stuff to remember.
"Oh, yeah, there's nobody behind me, right?"
Then you have to get ready to drive down the road.
"Oh, yeah, the speed limits," and how fast am I supposed to go?
There's just so much going on.
When we come home from driving on the first experience, we have all these stories to tell
about different signs, and we went from 35 to 45, and then it jumped back down to 35
just like that, with no warning!
Right, we talking about speed limits.
You have all these stories to tell.
But after you've been driving for years, you get in the car and you arrive at your destination,
and you're like, "Whoa!
I don't even remember driving here."
And yet you passed all the same signs.
You backed up out of the drive the same way.
You hit the road the same way.
You stopped at the same stop signs.
You stopped at the same stop lights.
You followed all the rules of the road, but it's just second nature.
When you are in a new space, there's all this sensory overload, and it happens a lot with
AirBnB hosts who are hosting as new hosts.
They haven't figured it all out yet, and they haven't experienced it all yet.
A customer might leave some tomato juice from a tomato that they cut up on the cupboard.
The host will come in and, "How dare they leave tomato juice on my cupboard!"
Then, after they've been in business for a few years, and they've experienced a few damages,
and a few breakages and they've had noise, and the cops have been called, and there are
all these other things going on.
They walk in, and they pray that all they find is tomato juice on their cupboard.
It's easy to complain about guests because you're new.
You're in this new space.
Yeah, they charge a cleaning fee, because they've got to turn around and hire professional
cleaners.
But then, they're hearing it back from the cleaner as well.
The cleaner is in a new space, and the cleaner has these stories to tell.
But did you know that the cleaner's responsibility is to do a damage control, and to take pictures
of before and after?
"These are the before pictures when I arrive at the house.
This is how the guest left the place."
The reason that's important is because maybe they have to charge extra for cleaning.
If the house cleaner has to charge the AirBnB host for extra cleaning, they're going to
pass that charge on to you.
If you get hit up with an extra bill that says, "Hey, you have to pay extra money,"
you need to be able to see the pictures and go, "Yeah.
I left the place extra messy."
That does make sense.
Then, after they tidy everything up, and they clean everything up, and then they take pictures
again.
"This is how the place looked before the next guest."
When they come in to take those before pictures, before they clean, those pictures are going
to say, "This is from the last cleaning, before these people arrived.
This is how they left the place."
And they can tell very quickly if you damaged something, or if you broke something, or if
you were, in fact, the one that left the place terribly messy.
Everything is documented.
As these stories are coming back to the host, the host is sharing these stories, either
on social media, with their friends, with their family, with other AirBnB hosts.
I mean, they're trying to work out some of this themselves.
It's perfectly normal.
If you got a new job today, and you showed up on the new job, when you come home tonight,
you're going to have all kinds of stories to tell.
"Oh, there's this one woman, and you're not going to believe how she dresses!"
And you make judgments, and you have ... And then after you've worked there for a while,
you're like, "Ah, that's just Carrie.
That's just who she is."
We let it slide because it's like driving the car.
It's second nature to us.
But right now, in the beginning, it's not second nature, so everything is super important.
That is the reason why people complain about the way that guests leave their home.
Well, let me just make a suggestion to you.
Don't ever be the guest that they complain about.
When you leave, make sure that you ... And this is my slogan.
This is my tagline.
"Leave the world a cleaner place than when you found it."
The reason for that is this if you enter a space and you leave it cleaner, you have blessed
that space.
It blessed you.
You blessed the space, and now you're gone.
They only have positive things to say about you.
Did you know this, on the AirBnB platforms, the host can also rate the guests.
When you leave, they can write a review and say, "Oh, my goodness.
This person was spectacular.
We really enjoyed having them."
Then, when you go to stay at the next AirBnB, that person can read your ratings and reviews,
and say, "Wow, this looks like a person that I would want to do business with.
Yes, absolutely, please come stay at our place."
But did you know, I belong to a group with lots and lots of AirBnB hosts, and they sit
there and they're like, "Eh, we are not having that person come in.
Uh-uh, I don't think so."
And then, they're like, "Let me check.
Ah, yeah. No."
And they decline your offer.
Although it might be a saving, and it might be super close to where you're going to be,
they'll decline your offer because they don't want to mess with you.
So do not be the guest that leaves the place messy.
Tidy everything up when you're done, and treat it just like it was your own home, with respect,
with care, with harmony, and like I say, leave it better than when you found it.
All right, if you found this tip helpful, please pass it along.
Who knows, maybe it will help someone else.
And until we meet again, here it comes, wait for it, "Da-da-da-da, da-da!"
Leave the world a cleaner place than when you found it.

Radial gradient Background parameters in CSS3 - Duration: 8:00.
Now let's talk about shifting the central position, the center into a particular value
such that they reside in some point shifted towards the central position of this particular
container.
In that case 4 parameters are used over here; well, those are: Closest-side, closest-corner,
farthest-side and farthest-corner.
All of them are practically been defined into our book Why Fear CSS3; you may have a glance
of it.
It is been described into our book here; in the present context all we can say here that
these individual parameters those are practically concerned with the ending shape of that particular
gradient and this is the exact function; now let's see it in action what it exactly does;
so if we now write here closest-side; what will be the exact outcome?
So let's press control + s, and we can see that this will be the outcome.
In this particular case all it is doing here that it is practically meeting the corners
which is closest to the center of the shape.
This is the exact function of the closest-side.
Now instead of closest-side, if we put here farthest-side, and if we reload, we can see
that this will be the outcome in the second case.
In the same manner if we put here closest corner, there it goes, reload and you can
see that it is now practically the ending shape and this is the exact purpose of this
particular syntax over here.
So all those things, those things are practically syntax, those things are practically extended
keywords, those are defining what will be the ending shape it will turn into.
In the same manner if instead we use here farthest-corner, which is the last one, this
will be the outcome.
So all of these things those are practically dependent upon the shape of the particular
gradient you are using; and another thing, if you are using, instead of this shape only
if we are now considering the positions of this particular gradient, now if we put here
70% and 50%, so what should be the result?
We are practically using two values of position properties here along with the ending shape
which we defined as the farthest-corner; farthest-corner at, this is the thing that we need to add
over here.
Now if we Press control + s, and get back to our project now we can see, what is actually
now seen over here?
Center is now shifted 70% along the x-axis, and it is now aligned 50% from the top along
this particular Y-axis; That means from this vertical position.
This is what being exactly described over here with these positional values; we are
practically defining how deviation of this centre would have been, should have been taking
place.
In the same manner if we define here that instead of farthest-corner, we will be using
here closest-corner, result should be something like this as we can see here.
All these things these things are practically dependent on this kind of positional properties.
In the same manner if instead of this, we do not mention anything as we have seen previously
that this will be the result;
In the last case all we can do over here we can see that there are practically three color
stops right now- red, green, blue; so instead of this blue color if we want to keep our
gradient transparent in case of this last color-Stop which is blue, instead of this
last color, we can use here this transparent; now if we press Control + s, get back to our
project, we can see that this is the red, this is the green but Now instead of this
blue, there is practically a soft touche of transparent color.
In case of linear gradient too, we can apply all those things here too.
In this linear gradient, against all those colors, color-stops here actually - this is
the blue color stop and instead of this blue color, if we replace this with this transparent,
we can see that the same exact thing will be observed over here.
If we do not wish to put it here and if we wish to put transparent color in the middle
one, there it goes; reload and you can see that this green color is now removed with
this transparent one; and it is getting transparent.
Again on the other hand if we wish that we will be using some semi-opaque color over
here; this is the first case which is been observed; we had used three color-stops here,
red green and blue.
Now if we use RGBA value of, for say, we are using black color; so instead of this hex
color code if we use here this one; what will be the outcome?
You can see that black colour is already in effect; instead of this blue it is already
turning into black which is Semi transparent at the end.
If we reduce this one to 0.2 value we can see that this will be the outcome.
So these are the two methods with which we can practically reduce the opacity of a certain
color present into a particular gradient.
Same thing can be done over here.
You can use this RGBA value instead of here, you can use it here too.
If you Press control + S, you can see, you can observe that this will be the outcome.
So this is clear now that you can use this property of making of or turning a particular
gradient into a transparent one.
We can use a particular color code here.
Instead of this hex color code, we can use this rgba color code as we can see over here.
So this is the procedure with which you can turn your gradient into a transparent one.

Two Koreas conduct joint inspection to verify removal of DMZ guard posts - Duration: 0:44.
Back in September, the two Koreas agreed to tear down several front-line guard posts on
each side of the border -- in the end, they decided on 11 each.
This morning they began joint inspections... to verify that they have been removed.
South Korea's defense ministry announced that... the South Korean teams first inspected the
North Korean sites in the morning,... and the North Koreans came south in the afternoon.
The inspectors used cross-border foot paths between each pair of guard posts built specifically
for these inspections.
This is the first time in 65 years... that active-duty soldiers have peacefully crossed
the Military Demarcation Line dividing the two Koreas.
Of the guard posts demolished, the two sides decided to preserve one each for historical
reasons.

No. of newly employed in S. Korea jumped by 165,000 y/y in Nov. - Duration: 1:48.
The jobs report for November is out, and it shows... more than 160-thousand people were
newly employed compared to a year earlier.
That's a lot better than last summer when the monthly figure was less than 10-thousand.
But the unemployment rate overall... remains high.
Kim Ji-yeon has the details.
The number of newly employed people in South Korea soared by 165-thousand last month compared
to the same period last year...
recovering to above the 100-thousand mark for the first time in five months.
This puts the total number of people in South Korea's workforce at just under 27-point-2-million.
Statistics Korea says the health and social services sectors accounted for most of the
job gains... followed by telecommunications... and the farming and fisheries sectors.
An official from the agency said a rise in the number of foreign tourists visiting South
Korea played a role,... adding it contributed to the bounce in the number of newly employed
people in the wholesale and retail sectors... as well as the food and lodging sectors.
The youth unemployment rate dropped one-point-three-percentage-points from a year earlier to 7-point-9-percent in
November... due to an improvement in the job situation particularly for those in their
late 20s.
The number of newly employed people in the manufacturing sector, however, dropped by
a staggering 91-thousand on-year last month... as the industry is still recovering from the
aftermath of the restructuring process particularly in the auto and shipbuilding sectors.
South Korea's jobless rate, meanwhile, stood at three-point-two-percent, the highest level
in nine years for the month of November,... as more people older than 60 try to enter
the workforce and as the job situation among 30-somethings remains troublesome.

Presidential Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation holds 3rd meeting in Seoul - Duration: 2:26.
back in August 2017 South Korea's presidential office set up a committee
to pursue economic cooperation with countries to the north of the Korean
Peninsula it's part of the Moon administration's new northern policy
today the committee held its third meeting this time looking at things like
doing more with Russia in terms of fishing and helping Mongolia keep its
air clean using Korean technology our Korean he reports members of the
Presidential Committee on northern Economic Cooperation met on Wednesday in
Seoul to discuss ways to increase cooperation with countries like russia
mongolia as part of president Meuse new northern policy the new northern policy
began because the northern projects of the previous government were often
interrupted by changes in inter-korean relations therefore the policy mainly
focuses on projects that are relatively unaffected by inter-korean relations but
are highly connected with a new economic map for the Korean first all the
meetings agenda was the environmental sector the committee aims to reach
around eight hundred eighty four point six million u.s. dollars in exports to
the northern region by 2022 although the specifics were not
confirmed yet the Environment Ministry says one idea could be chipping machines
or technologies related to Korea's air quality management to countries like
Mongolia the committee believes this will also create a new market for Korean
products in terms of agriculture it plans to reach around 100 million US
dollars in exports to the northern region by 2022 by shipping items
including farming equipment greenhouse technologies or seas to Central Asia in
the fishing industry the committee will strive to secure marine resources by
improving joint fishing with Russia an expert in the field says there are many
promising fields of cooperation fishery resources have been moving north because
of climate change therefore there are abundant resources
like Pollock in Russia Russia wants to cooperate with other countries because
their process marine products rely heavily on imports when asked whether
the plan includes economic cooperation with North Korea in the long
run the committee says certain conditions need to be met beforehand
mentioning the North denuclearization and the removal of sanctions Carini
