Dr. Urvi talks about effective treatments of ear infections. - Duration: 2:33.

Hey everyone, it's Dr. Urvi with Carmel Wellness.

Want you to check out our post on ear infections.

You're probably wondering, what are chiropractors

doing about ear infections, especially with kids?

And I just wanna tell you a little bit

about how chiropractic care can be an important

holistic component to help prevent

or care for children with ear infections

or even adults, for that matter.

So, a couple things that's going on

with ear infections, you have to know

what's going on with the ear.

There's the outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear.

And sometimes with infections, fluid can build up

if there's colds, sinus infections, allergies,

things like that, congestion can build up

from the nose and affect something

that's called the eustachian tube.

And when you're little, the angle of the eustachian tube

doesn't allow those fluids to drain properly.

So, as chiropractors, we're able to

look at the alignment of the spine,

see how that relates to pressure

on that eustachian tube, and if there's inflammation,

with just a very gentle pressure,

just the amount you would apply

on a grape, per se, we can help relieve that pressure.

We can even, for little babies and children,

use instruments to help improve that alignment

and take pressure off of that to improve drainage.

So, in combination with care with your pediatrician,

a lot of times, they'll check out the kiddos

and look in the inner ear.

It will look red.

And they'll wanna do a wait and watch approach.

So, while you're waiting and watching,

there are natural approaches that you can take

by taking a look at a chiropractor

and see what he can do to help give your kiddo

some comfort and prevent possibly taking

any medications, NSAIDs, Ibuprofen, Advil.

If those things are helpful, that's fine,

but sometimes they come with side effects.

So if you're looking for a more natural approach,

that's how chiropractic can help.

A couple other tips too, if you're dealing

with this issue, is using a warm washcloth

to help with the lymphatic drainage,

and just apply that behind the ear.

That will help significantly.

Some essential oils to help immune system health

also helps quite a bit, in addition to

additional probiotics.

So, if you have any more questions,

check out our post above,

check out the research that we've attached,

and also, reach out to us.

We're here for you as a resource

to answer any questions and help in any way possible.

Make it a great day, and we'll see you next time!

2018 year in review of financial markets - Duration: 3:49.

As 2018 comes to an end,

we look back on a year that turned out to be

quite challenging for investors.

Rising interest rates, slowing growth

and political turbulence

all contributed to a volatile time in financial markets.

We take a look at share markets, oil and house prices

and what it all means for you.

Shares were the hardest hit,

especially in emerging markets

where returns were negative.

Developed markets weren't quite as bad

but look like finishing the year down slightly.

Government bonds benefited from the higher uncertainty

with positive returns.

And for a balanced investor with a diversified portfolio,

this meant that their fixed income portfolio

helped to offset some of the volatility in shares.

The Australian dollar tends to fall when investors

are concerned about the outlook for global growth,

and by the end of November,

the Australian dollar had fallen by 6.4%

from the start of 2018.

This helped to boost returns to portfolios

with unhedged overseas assets.

Shares got off to a good start to the year

with strong returns in January,

but this was followed by a sharp drop in February

which caught a lot of investors by surprise.

Markets then resumed their upward trend

until October and November brought further volatility.

The popular growth stocks

that had led the market surge earlier in the year

declined the most when the volatility hit,

with Facebook, Apple and Google

all coming off by more than 25% from their 2018 peak.

This a classic example of how chasing past returns

can lead to your portfolio being more exposed to losses

when the market turns.

If you're not diversified and you're forced to sell assets

when markets have fallen,

it could be very damaging

to your long-run sustainable income.

We've come out of an environment in the last few years

where economic growth surprised on the upside

and returns for growth assets, like shares, were strong.

Let's take a look at the big picture.

History tells us that bull markets can't last forever.

And looking back at the performance of shares

over the last 12 years puts this into perspective.

Periods of above average returns

tend to be followed by periods of below average returns.

Over the long run,

you probably need to have exposure to risky assets

because that's how your money grows.

Making sure your portfolio is diversified

and taking only as much risk as you need to

is important

because this is what allows you

to ride out the periods of uncertainty

and stick to your long-run strategy.

Another big reversal that came in October

was in the oil market.

The oil price had been rising steadily

for most of the year,

hitting a high of US$77 a barrel in early October.

Two months later,

the prices dropped around $50 a barrel,

sparking calls for OPEC to cut back on production

to shore up the price.

Stating the obvious,

a lower oil price is good for consumers

and should also help to keep inflation in check.

After a period of very strong returns,

Australian house prices have begun to fall

due to tougher borrowing conditions.

In Sydney and Melbourne,

prices have come down by 10% and 5%,

and analysts are predicting the falls

to continue through 2019.

So long as unemployment stays low,

it's likely that the decline in house prices

will remain gradual,

although clearly in some pockets,

there will be more distress.

But Australia's high level of household debt

is a potential source of fragility

and it probably means the RBA will need

to keep interest rates low for some time yet.

We wish all of you a safe and happy festive season,

and we'll be back in the new year with the next update.

Arsenal look to rivals for potential Rob Holding replacement - Duration: 2:55.

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly and Chelsea's Gary Cahill are potential transfer targets for Arsenal in January, according to reports

The Gunners are weighing up their options in the January transfer market following the serious knee injury sustained by Rob Holding, who ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford last week

As a result, it is being widely reported that Arsenal could now make a move to bring in an experienced central defender to boost their options at the back, in the absence of the 23-year-old, who is expected to miss the rest of the season

And ESPN are reporting that they are looking at two of their Premier League rivals for potential options to add cover in defence

Bailly has found his opportunities limited in recent weeks at Manchester United, with Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones preferred to the Ivory Coast international at times by Jose Mourinho

He is still only 24, and is well known to Arsenal head coach Unai Emery from his time in La Liga, when Bailly was playing for Villareal and Emery was in charge at Sevilla

However, it is understood that despite his lack of game time, United would be reluctant to sell Bailly in January, and particularly to a Premier League rival, with AC Milan also reportedly interested in signing him

As such, Arsenal may have to look elsewhere, and ESPN are also reporting that Cahill could be regarded as a short-term solution

The 32-year-old England defender is out of contract at Stamford Bridge in the summer and has been widely linked with a move away from the club in January, potentially on loan

That could appeal to Arsenal as a short-term move to sign the experienced centre-back, but it would depend on whether Chelsea would be willing to let Cahill go to a rival

Arsenal blow as training ground injury rules teen star out of Qarabag clash - Duration: 3:34.

Arsenal take on Qarabag on Thursday night as they look to end their Europa League group stage with a fifth win from six games

The 3-0 success against FC Vorskla in Kiev last time out has already guaranteed the Gunners passage through to the knockout stages as group winners and Unai Emery has admitted he will make several changes for the game with Qarabag

"Our first aim in this competition, we have done, which was to be first in the group," said Arsenal's head coach

"But we respect this competition and we respect Qarabag and so our objective is to win and we are going to give players chances to take responsibility, take rhythm and take confidence

"Because we are going to play a lot of matches, in the next 10 days we play four matches - each of them very important - so we are going to use some different players with players coming from the under-23 team

"  One teenager who will not be involved on Thursday night, however, is Emile Smith Rowe - who has been one of the stars of Arsenal's Europa League campaign so far, scoring twice - including in the game against Qarabag in Azerbaijian

Smith Rowe has been involved in four of Arsenal's five European games this season, only missing the game in Lisbon against Sporting CP

But he will also have to sit out Thursday night's clash at the Emirates after suffering an injury during training this week

An Arsenal source insists the injury is not serious, however, describing it as just a knock, with Smith Rowe expected to be back quickly

The playmaker did not train with the squad on Wednesday at London Colney, but Emery did include seven youngsters in the final session - with all seven set to be in the matchday squad against Qarabag

They were Dominic Thompson, Joe Willock, Eddie Nketiah, Zech Medley, Charlie Gilmour, Tyreece John-Jules and Bukayo Saka

Willock and Nketiah both started in Arsenal's last Europa League game against FC Vorskla in Kiev, with the former scoring Arsenal's third goal in a 3-0 win

Medley, Gilmour and Saka meanwhile all came off the bench in the second half to make their senior debuts

There will be some senior players involved on Thursday night, with Mesut Ozil set to play his first game since the 1-1 draw with Wolves last month and Laurent Koscielny a certainty to start at centre-back
