Recently,
in Mindfulness Amitaba,
we have had luck
and the opportunity
to make an extraordinary trip
to the center of Vietnam.
We have flown very high,
crossing the clouds
and traveling thousands of kilometers
to pay a visit
to the Monastery and Root Temple Tu Hieu
where lives and rests peacefully
our beloved and respected teacher,
venerable Zen Master, Thich Nhat Hahn.
Once an old man asked me:
"Child, do you know what luck is?"
"I'm not sure," I answered with respect.
"Luck is to be prepared for when the occasion comes"
he told me.
Living a simple and conscious life
is like undertaking a long and beautiful journey
to the center of our heart.
It´s like crossing with our attention,
the veil of ignorance
to reflect ourselves in the crystalline and calm water
of our consciousness.
Here and Now,
experiencing
every opportunity that shows up,
with a beginner's mind
and with the certainty
that we are always prepared
to enjoy,
each day, of the magic
of being alive.
What is it for us to travel?
Many of you, follow us on our Instagram account,
and there you have seen that we are in Vietnam, in Hue.
Today, we want to share with you,
from here,
from this wonderful environment,
from the Perfume River,
how we are experiencing this trip,
in a conscious way.
What is it for us to travel?
Something that we have noticed here in Vietnam,
maybe it is not something we didn´t know
and we don´t feel that we have made a great discovery
what we do feel is that
we have really connected with the way we like to travel.
And I personally have always had the wish
of traveling to Vietnam,
I love Asia, in general
but I didn´t have the opportunity yet to come,
and specifically to Vietnam.
The reason is that our dear and beloved teacher
is originally from Vietnam
and he has studied at the Root Temple Tu Hieu
in the city of Hue,
which was the capital of Vietnam until 1945.
With the deep wish of wanting to come to Vietnam,
I thought I was going to take advantage of the trip
to visit the whole country:
to visit Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh
and also the north and south of Vietnam
the mountains and the main cities
where the most significant temples are.
However, the fact of coming specifically to Hue,
and having stayed in a wonderful house,
with a wonderful couple,
a family with two children; Tri and Kiet,
and the marriage
she is called Ny and he is called Kha
and we are staying in their house
and we really feel very welcome.
And their house is 700 meters from Tu Hiue Temple
Every morning, we wake up at 3:30 am
to go to meditate,
and we go in walking meditation.
And all these little things;
feeling so welcome in this house
with the family of Kha & Ny,
being so close to Tu Hieu Temple
and being in this beautiful city
we have really come into contact with
the lack of need for tourism and to go traveling
from one place to the other
or stopping a day or two in one place
to run to see another place.
And so, a learning and
an experience with which we have get in contact with
is that we really don´t need to do big things.
But to Be
and to experience everything that comes to us
with an open mind.
And so ... I would say that the main learning,
or what we have remembered,
I at least speak for myself, in this trip
is that being anchored in the present moment,
living the here and the now
gives me space to fully enjoy
and at 100% of every little thing;
of the huge butterflies that look like birds
and perch on the leaves,
the leaves that are left of the lotuses,
or also see how the bamboos are swayed by the wind
and reflected in the ponds.
This really makes me feel very comfortable,
otherwise, if I were only thinking
of going from one place to the other,
I would lose myself and I would not be able to enjoy.
That for me is really a great learning
that liberates me from a lot of stress
that makes me feel very comfortable
and to feel that I can enjoy 100%
of myself, of Elena
and of the whole environment.
And so,
I like to share it with you on the channel because
it really has been very revealing for me.
How do we live a conscious journey?
Before starting the trip,
well ...
I even told myself that I wanted to come to Vietnam
and maybe Cambodia,
since we were already here,
we could take advantage of it.
And
that is a habit, a habit of wanting to do many things
with the time we have.
When Felipe and I
could clearly see that
our deepest intention
was to come here
and connect with Vietnam,
that means for us being able to be very Present,
with us.
And
that means, for example, that you come across a person
and you have the time
to look at that person in the eyes
and smile at that person
and thank her.
Or also, when we are buying fruit,
now we just bought a tangerine
and we decided that
we wanted to stop here, in this river
to eat,
to thank.
And ...
we have bought the fruit to a woman,
and I liked it, because I could see her,
and I could look her at the eyes.
And that is something that I recognize that,
when I traveled I didn´t do
because I was not present
I wanted to see so many things and do so many things,
that I just gave the money to the person in front of me
and continue.
And in this trip, what we are doing is
to have that contact with people.
We also feel,
and for me this is a learning that
I have already started to train
and here I can experience it much more ...
in a much more smoothly way
and it is very integrated into society.
And it is to offer.
When you offer something,
you receive it back
because here it seems that it´s like a wheel;
you give and you receive, you give and you receive.
And the energy flows.
And what is to come, comes to us.
So,
for example,
in the beautiful family were we are staying,
thay have invited us for lunch, two days ago
with the family
Ny has cooked for us
exquisite vegetarian food
that we had never tasted before,
like lotus roots
and other different vegetables
that grow here in Vietnam.
And it was a very nice gift to eat with them.
Today, they have offered us the motor bike
because
these days we have been going to practice mindfulness
and today in the Temple, they rest
they enjoy the "Lazy day",
it´s a day
to be with oneself and enjoy the day.
And we have decided to take the bike.
And I have always told myself
that I was very afraid of bikes.
Well,
here I'm not afraid.
I fully trust Felipe,
in Felipe´s presence and I know that everything is fine.
I even find it much fun!
And also very nice because
we really don´t have a place where we want to go,
we don´t have plans to see this or the other
Because this
is what is being offered to us
and suddenly it is like
"here is where we want to stop
and here we want to contemplate".
And on the way, it was the same.
We have stopped
we have seen some wonderful buffalos.
I had never had the opportunity to be so close
to this animal, so tame and so beautiful.
And for me that is the gift,
the gift of being present
being able to connect with the life that is here,
with people, with animals,
with all the vegetation, that is wonderful.
And enjoying the company of Felipe,
enjoying together
the food, everything.
So, my way of traveling has changed a lot.
I feel that
when I am concentrated
and when I don´t have anywhere to go
to see something that,
that ... well,
is what I used to do when travelling,
I feel that it is not necessary to move from Hue,
because in Hue we find everything,
all the wealth
everything is HERE.
There is no need to rush
no need to run somewhere, to think that
what we want to see is somewhere else
because it´s really here.
And ...
that is what I wanted to share,
that
our way of traveling
which is a life style, a conscious travel style
is what really makes us enjoy
every moment,
to stop and not to be in a hurry
and to enjoy, and taste
and observe everything that is happening.
We thank you for being there,
for watching this video until the end.
We will love that you share your thoughts
on how you like to travel,
if you really feel that consciously living
also when travelling is worthwhile.
