310th Birthday
Hannah Glasse was an English cookery writer of the 18th century.
She is remembered mainly for her bestselling cookbook, The Art of Cookery made Plain and
Easy, first published in 1747.
The book was reprinted within its first year of publication, appeared in 20 editions in
the 18th century, and continued to be published until 1843.
It was a best seller for a century after its first publication, dominating the English-speaking
market and making Hannah Glasse one of the most famous cookbook authors of her time.
The book ran through at least 40 editions, many of them pirated.
Published in 1747, The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Easy was unique; it was one of the
first cookbooks written in a simple and conversational style, which meant that any English speaker
and reader – regardless of their class – could learn how to cook.
Hannah Glasse emphasised in her note "To the Reader" that she used plain language so that
servants would be able to understand it.
In 2006, Hannah Glasse was the subject of a BBC drama-documentary that called her the
"mother of the modern dinner party", and "the first domestic goddess".
Hannah Glasse's cookbook was popular not only because it was easy to read, but also
because of its massive scope.
It included a whopping 972 recipes, covering everything from puddings and soups, to what
to serve at Lent, to preparing food for the sick.
Today's Google Doodle features Hannah Glasse whipping up a batch of classic Yorkshire puddings.
Her recipe for Yorkshire pudding, among many others, is one of the earliest known ever
published.

PN4000 in use at Dethleffs
Having embarked on a quest for a recreational vehicle for the whole family,
in 1931 Arist Dethleffs designed and built the first caravan Germany had ever seen.
This made him the founding father of modern-day camping.
However, the Dethleffs company's caravans and motorhomes
have little in common with the modest wooden constructions of yesteryear.
Today's vehicles today offer a level of comfort and equipment that rivals that of a luxury apartment.
At the company's plant in southern Germany,
state-of-the-art CNC machines produce the interior design and construction components.
Several 2 ½ D machines for horizontal milling and water jet cutting
have been controlled by WiCAM PN4000 since the 1990s.
Mr. Heumos, CAM project supervisor at Dethleffs,
gives a brief insight into the processes:
In a production like ours, the individuality of our vehicles is the biggest challenge.
For some years now, we have only manufacture vehicles according to customer requirements
so the superstructures, but also the components,
right down to the holes drilled into the interior fittings, are all custom-made.
Every day up to 50 finished vehicles roll off the assembly lines.
This is only possible thanks to highly efficient process control
and the connection to the automatic processes in WiCAM PN4000.
WiCAM interacts with the ERP and CAD system to import and analyze
the individual elements from the assembly lines and generates the nestings 'just in time'.
The milled parts are programmed with 3D elements,
such as chamfers, T-slots, holes, pockets, back-cuts and side holes,
and they are included in the nesting process.
The machine operator can trigger the reprocessing of rejects using a barcode scanner
so defective parts with the highest priority are automatically regenerated in the next nesting.
The insulating materials are cut at the water jet plant.
Here, PN4000 generates ERP-controlled components and nestings
with common line cutting, which optimizes waste and cuts down on production time.

Further details of the South Korean pop concerts to be held in Pyongyang next week are announced.
Two more artists have been added, and the inclusion of a taekwondo demonstration team
is also confirmed.
We turn to our Kwon Jang-ho for the updated list.
With 5 days to go until the first South Korean pop concert on North Korean soil in 13 years,
the final details have been announced.
The South Korean government said on Tuesday that the size of the delegation has been increased
to 190 members,... 30 more than originally agreed with Pyongyang.
The delegation, which consist of artists, stage staff, government officials and members
of the press.
But the increase comes primarily due to the confirmation that a taekwondo demonstration
team will also be performing in Pyongyang.
The taekwondo team is scheduled to perform twice but separately from the pop concerts
on April 1st and 2nd.
And during the second performance, they are slated to take the stage with their North
Korean counterparts.
Two more artists have also been added to the concert roster: folk singer Kang San-ae and
jazz pianist Kim Kwang-min.
They will join nine other artists, including pop legends Cho Yong-pil and Lee Sun-hee,
as well as the K-pop female idol group, Red Velvet.
Seoul said others could be added to the line-up at the last minute... but contrary to widespread
anticipation, one artist that won't be joining them is global sensation Psy, of 'Gangnam
Style' fame.
However, authorities haven't specify the reason for the exclusion.
Further details on transport were also announced.
A preparatory team of 70 members, mostly stage staff and government officials, will leave
on Thursday, along with a separate plane for stage and music equipment.
The rest of the delegation will leave on Saturday.
Commercial passenger and cargo planes will be chartered for the teams, taking them directly
from Seoul to Pyongyang.
The concerts will take place on Sunday and Tuesday afternoon, with the delegation scheduled
to return to South Korea after the second performance.

Trump-haters in Washington, D.C., who bashed President Donald Trump on tariffs, have a
big reason to shut up after China made a shocking announcement.

In an effort to avoid a trade war with the United States, China's Premier Li Keqiang
announced on Monday, March 26, 2018, that his country pledges to ease access for American
businesses.
China's shocking announcement comes on the heels of the country receiving constant backlash
from President Trump over the obscene trade deficit the U.S. has with China.
Now, it looks like all the haters who told Trump he was wrong about being tough on trade
are the ones who couldn't have been more wrong.
According to Newsmax, Li made the announcement during a conference with global chief executives
and emphasized that China would work to provide equal treatment to both foreign and domestic
firms.
In addition, Li promised that China would not force foreign firms to transfer technology
to domestic entities and vowed to strengthen intellectual property rights.
"With regard to trade imbalances, China and the United States should adopt a pragmatic
and rational attitude, promote balancing through expansion of trade, and stick to negotiations
to resolve differences and friction," Li said during the conference.
The announcement came a week after the United States sent a letter asking China to cut a
tariff on U.S. automobiles, give U.S. firms more access to the Chinese financial sector,
and buy more U.S.-made semiconductors, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Back at home, both Republicans and Democrats went into panic mode as a possible trade war
between the U.S. and China loomed overhead.
In recent weeks, financial markets experienced a static environment as investors anticipated
a worst-case scenario should trade barriers go up after President Trump publicly rebuffed
China for the trade deficit and urged China's leadership to reduce it by $100 billion.
China's response to Trump is the last thing all the haters in the swamp wanted to hear.
Obviously, the political elites in our government would rather see Trump fail and America continue
to suffer tremendous financial consequences from bad negotiations for which they are to
blame.
The announcement from Li was completely unexpected after President Trump revealed his plan to
place tariffs on Chinese goods in response to a U.S. inquiry which found that China is
guilty of intellectual property theft and unfair trade.
For years, China had been forcing U.S. investors to divulge trade secrets and technologies
to Chinese firms for the "privilege" of doing business.
Although the mainstream media in America and the state-run media in China have both fanned
the flames of a trade war, it appears that officials from both sides are working quietly
behind the scenes to resolve the massive imbalance in trade which has hurt our economy.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin reportedly called Liu He, who is the newly appointed
Vice Premier and President Xi Jinping's top economic adviser, to express his gratitude
toward China's willingness to compromise on trade.
A spokesman for the U.S. Treasury confirmed the call but declined to comment on specific
details.
"Secretary Mnuchin called Liu to congratulate him on the official announcement of his new
role," the spokesman told Reuters.
"They also discussed the trade deficit between our two countries and committed to continuing
the dialog to find a mutually agreeable way to reduce it."

And if you won't make yourself uncomfortable life will give you plenty of reasons to push
you out of your comfort zone.
So you have one of two options.
