Youtube daily Mar 30 2018

Hi! This is Topher with WinningWP.

In this video we're going to answer the question,

how do I get my WordPress website listed on Google?

Let me show you.

The first thing you want to do

is prepare your website.

This is a normal WordPress dashboard,

and the first thing you want to do

is go down to Settings, Reading,

and there's a switch right here labeled

Search Engine Visibility.

And if it's checked, it will discourage

search engines from indexing this site.

Now this is great while you're building your site

and you don't want Google to look.

But once it's live and you want Google

to come see your site, this must be unchecked,

or nothing else you do will matter.

The next thing you should do is have SEO-ready content.

I recommend getting an SEO plugin like Yoast.

It has tips to help guide you

as you setup your content.

When you create a post, there's a box right here

to help you setup keywords, focus keywords,

add your Google snippet, et cetera.

So this plugin helps make the content

on your site be something that Google wants to crawl.

Next, you should have a sitemap.

A sitemap is an XML document

that lists every page and post on your site,

and presents it to Google in a way that Google likes.

Fortunately, Yoast SEO helps create one.

Here under the SEO tab, there's XML Sitemaps.

And you can simply turn it on.

Once it's on you can click this link

to view your sitemap.

So here it lists all the different kinds

of content you have, and when you click one

it shows all the different items

in that kind of content.

So, these are all posts, and these are all pages.

So when Google comes to my site

and wants to know what's here,

it looks first for a sitemap.

And it can quickly and easily read through

the entire sitemap rather than having

to read through all the source code on webpages.

Another thing you should do is check

your robots.txt file.

Do you see how sitemap_index.xml

is just right here on the end of my URL?

You can do the same with robots.txt.

Mine says, for all user-agents,

which means all web browsers,

disallow searching wp-admin.

However, allow admin-ajax.php,

and then by default because it doesn't say anything else,

it allows everything else.

So my robots.txt file right now

is saying that search engines

can look at everything on my site, except wp-admin.

Now if you don't have one of these files,

that's just fine.

Google will take that to mean

that it can search everything.

Now once you have your site prepped and ready for Google,

we want to signup for Google Webmasters.

This is a relatively new website

that is not registered with Google,

so we're gonna set it up together.

You can search for Google Webmasters,

and you want this item right here at the top.

Now Google Webmasters is a program

that helps you learn about good SEO,

how to make good websites, et cetera.

The primary tool here is the Search Console,

so we're going to use that.

Now I'm already logged into Google.

If you don't have a Google account,

you can create one on any Google property,

and use it across the board.

So you could use your Gmail address.

You could use your YouTube address.

Any address on a Google property will work here.

Now as you can see, I have a number

of sites already setup, but we're going to

setup this brand new one called Eclectic Jams.

So let's click this red button, Add a Property.

We could choose whether it's a website

or an Android app, and then we'd put in the address.

And then click Add.

Now we need to prove that we own this website.

Now the recommended way for proving

that we own the website is by using Google Analytics,

which we also have not setup yet.

So let's leave this tab right here

and go signup for Google Analytics.

There it is right at the top.

Now, we see this page because I have

Google Analytics setup on another site.

If you did not, this would be blank,

and that would be just fine.

What we really want is this Admin button

down here on the bottom left.

Click Admin.

And then under Account, we Create new account.

And we're going to choose Website,

and we're going to create an account name.

And then we put in the website name.

Note, this is not the URL,

this is just the name.

Then here we put in the address,

and we choose whether it's HTTP or HTTPS.

Then we can choose an industry.

And a reporting timezone.

Then Google wants to know if it can share

your data with other services.

I'm going to go ahead and say Yes.

So now I get a Tracking ID,

and I accept their terms of service,

and right here is the Tracking ID.

Now, to get that Tracking ID into our website,

we're going to use a plugin.

The plugin we're going to use is called MonsterInsights.

Now that MonsterInsights is active,

we can go over here to Insights, Dashboard.

And the first thing it says is we must authenticate.

So let's authenticate with our Google account.

Now because I'm already logged in with Google,

it can talk to Google.

It wants to view and manage our Google Analytics data,

and view our Google Analytics data,

so we'll Allow, and then we copy this code.

We paste it in here.

Next we need to choose a profile,

and there's our Eclectic Jams site,

and there's that code they said we needed

to have in our site.

And there we are.

I'll Save Changes.

So now we have Google Analytics setup

which means we can come back to the Search Console,

and we'll choose Verify.

Now because we had Google Analytics setup

and our code was in our HTML in our website,

the console was able to see that yes indeed

we do own this site.

And now we continue.

Now this is the Google Search Console,

and after awhile it'll have a lot

of really interesting information.

But we don't have any traffic yet,

but what we're looking for right now

is this Crawl option.

There's Fetch as Google, and we'll just click Fetch.

There, now Google went and checked out our website.

Now I'm going to request indexing,

and I must say I am not a robot.

And I want to crawl only this URL,

and then I'll click Go.

Now, indexing is requested.

Now at some point, Google is going to

go index my website, and that's what's

going to get it listed.

Now, there is no published schedule

for this sort of thing.

Google's going to do it when it gets around to it.

Probably quite soon.

It's probably going to crawl it today,

but they make no promises.

And then, even once it's indexed

they also make no promises about getting it listed

on Google search.

It can take months and sometimes years

to get highly ranked in Google.

Based on the amount of traffic you get,

the quality of your website,

the frequency of change in your website,

and how many other people link to your website.

Now we've covered a lot of material in this video,

so let's recap.

First you want to prepare your site.

Check the Search Engine Visibility

switch in your settings in WordPress.

Then, have SEO-ready content,

and I recommend getting a plugin to help you with that.

Next, have a sitemap.

A good SEO plugin can create one for you.

Check your robots.txt file,

and make sure that it is not blocking everything.

Next, signup for Google Analytics.

Then install MonsterInsights and connect

your site to Google.

MonsterInsights has an excellent walkthrough

to help you with every detail.

Lastly, signup at Google Webmasters

so that you can use the Google Console.

Once you're in the Google Console,

add your property, which is your website.

Then go to the Crawl section and ask Google

to fetch your site.

Once they do they give you the option

to ask Google to index your site.

Once they've indexed your site once,

they'll keep an eye on it.

They'll check back periodically.

And depending on how often your site changes,

and how much traffic you get,

they will begin to check back

more and more frequently.

If your site never changes,

they'll probably only check back

about once a month.

But if your site changes regularly,

they may check back several times a day.

And again, I want to remind you,

all of the things we've done here

tell Google that our site exists

and asks them nicely to index it.

This isn't a promise that you will get listed,

although it's likely you will.

And even if you do get listed,

it can take time to get highly listed.

So be patient,

follow the steps, and at some point

you will see your site on Google.

153rd Birthday.

Anandi Gopal Joshi was one of the earliest Indian female physicians.

She was the first woman of Indian-origin to study and graduate in medicine in the United

States.

She is also believed to be the first woman to set foot on American soil from India.

Joshi was married at the age of nine, as was the custom in 19th century India.

Her husband encouraged her to continue her education and her interest in medicine.

At sixteen, battling ill-health but determined to succeed, Joshi set sail for America.

She earned her medical degree from the Women's Medical College of Pennsylvania and returned

to India with dreams of opening a medical college for women.

Joshi's young life was tragically cut short when she died of tuberculosis before her 22nd

birthday.

However, her legacy and the path she paved for generations of women continues today.

Interestingly, even a crater on Venus is named after her.

Newly-released declassified documents show North Korea suggested forming 'neutral state' in 1987 - Duration: 1:33.

The nation's foreign ministry announced, newly declassified documents show,... North Korea

suggested forming a 'neutral state' on the peninsula.

Lee Jeong-yeon sheds light on the fascinating revelation from some three decades ago,...

just ahead of the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.

Around 30 years ago in 1987, North Korea had suggested forming a 'neutral state' on the

Korean peninsula to form a buffer zone... according to declassified diplomatic documents.

The 230-thousand-page documents disclosed by the Foreign Ministry on Friday revealed

this proposal by the North, which was passed on in secret through Mikhail Gorbachev, then

leader of the Soviet Union,... to then U.S. President Ronald Reagan, during a summit held

at the White House on December 9th, 1987.

The contents of this proposal include withdrawing all foreign military presence from the Korean

peninsula, writing up a peace treaty, and the new 'neutral state' entity joining the

United Nations under a single name.

Washington however,... deemed the proposal unrealistic unless North Korea showed a willingness

to establish trust.

Seoul shared this opinion, especially as the contents were the same as what was proposed

by former North Korean leader Kim Il-sung in 1980.

As for the reason behind this proposal, experts speculate that it's because the regime did

not want to be left out of the spotlight with the upcoming 1988 Summer Olympics in South

Korea.

China's State Councilor briefs S. Korean president on N. Korea, China summit; Blue House ... - Duration: 2:22.

Once again our starting point is the Chinese president's special envoy's visit to the nation.

State Council Yang Jiechi met with President President Moon Jae-in to brief him on the

outcome of the Pyongyang-Beijing summit.

Arirang's chief Cheongwadae correspondent Moon Connyoung has our top story.

The Chinese president's special envoy, Yang Jiechi met with South Korean President Moon

Jae-in at the presidential Blue House Friday... to brief the South Korean leader on the summit

earlier this week between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and President Xi Jinping.

"State Councilor Yang explained in detail the outcome of the North Korea, China summit

which took place on the occasion of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's visit to China...

to President Moon.

Based on the briefing, President Moon and State Councilor Yang carried out in-depth

discussions on ways for successful bilateral summits between the two Koreas and North Korea

and the U.S."

The Chinese official told the South Korean president that the China-North Korea summit

will contribute to the inter-Korean summit as well as the U.S.-North Korea summit expected

to be held in May.

The two also touched upon other areas of interest between South Korea and China.

President Moon had conveyed his concern over the slow progress in China's removal of anti-THAAD

measures through his National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong who held a meeting with China's

special envoy Thursday evening.

Those include normalization of Chinese tour group to South Korea, resumption of Lotte's

Shenyang construction project and subsidies for electric cars equipped with batteries

produced by Korean companies.

"State Councilor Yang said President Moon should be able to see visible results very

soon in these areas and asked for President Moon's faith in his words."

The Blue House spokesperson said...

while President Moon and State Councilor Yang spent half of their 70-minute long meeting

discussing the North Korea, China summit as well as the North Korean

leader's proposal for denuclearization to Chinese President Xi Jinping... he could not

disclose the details of those talks citing sensitivity issues.

Instead, the Blue House announced that also thoroughly reviewed in Friday's meeting was

the fine dust problem in South Korea... and the two countries' vow to bolster anti-fine

dust cooperation centering on the early launch of Korea-China Environment Cooperation Center

in Beijing.

IOC chief Thomas Bach meets North Korea's sports minister Kim Il-guk in Pyongyang - Duration: 0:51.

The chief of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach sat down with North Korea's sports

minister and head of the regime's Olympic committee, Kim Il-guk.

According to regime's main outlet Korean Central News Agency... the meeting took place at Mansudae

Assembly Hall in Pyongyang today.

The IOC said discussions centered on the development of sports in the hermit kingdom.

The duo reportedly touched on ways to keep the momentum from the successful participation

at the recent Winter Olympics and Paralympics,... to prepare its athletes for qualification

so that they can participate in the Summer games in Tokyo in 2020 and the Winter Olympics

in Beijing in 2022.

Bach led an IOC delegation on this three-day visit to North Korea, which comes on the North's

invitation following an agreement between the IOC, Seoul, and Pyongyang.

What conditions necessary for successful hosting of summits with North Korea? - Duration: 3:33.

The two Koreas and the United States have so many issues to cover during the upcoming

summits.

It's imperative for each side to clearly identify their priorities.

One clear cut objective for Seoul and Washington... is putting Pyongyang on course to peaceful

denuclearization.

Kim Hyesung helps us explore ways to make that an attainable goal.

"The two Koreas held summit talks back in 2000 and 2007 to improve their bilateral relationship.

The upcoming April summit talks will be the third historic meeting.

But the stakes are higher, with North Korea in its final stages of nuclear weapons development,

and a somewhat unpredictable U.S. President, Donald Trump, who even threatened a possible

preemptive strike.

So what are some of the key conditions for the talks to succeed and really help achieve

a peaceful denuclearization of the Korean peninsula?"

The definition of denuclearization--that's what experts say is critical, above all else.

"What South Korea and the U.S. mean by denuclearization is the North completely giving up nuclear

weapons.

But North Korea hasn't made clear yet whether it means giving up nuclear weapons, a freeze

or what.

At the summit, Seoul needs to get Pyongyang to make this clear."

Previous talks failed; the North reneged on the signed agreements and continued to develop

nuclear weapons.

This time, before talking about any kind of give and take,... like economic rewards, or

North Korea normalizing relations with the U.S.,...

South Korea needs to confirm the North's sincerity... and its commitment to denuclearize... if the

talks are to succeed and if Seoul is to keep its alliance with Washington strong.

But managed expectations from the Trump administration is also needed.

It will be helpful to get a sense of parameters and manage expectations.

If he (Trump) goes into negotiations and pushes Kim Jong-un to immediately denuclearize, to

agree to his conditions or else, I just hope that he doesn't come back and then listen

to the very hawkish advice of his national security advisor, immediately ratchet up tensions

and then consider military option..."

To keep the summit from falling apart, finding a realistic bottom line North Korea and the

U.S. can agree on is key.

The parties also need to keep holding preparatory meetings like the Track 1.5 talks between

Seoul, Washington and Pyongyang held in Finland last week.

This is where South Korea's role and the inter-Korean summit serve as a bridge between Washington

and Pyongyang.

Another condition for the talks to succeed is that South Korea, which got the ball rolling

on the summit, be able to deal with the variables and changing strategic dynamics.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's trip to Beijing is something that complicates the

equation, which experts interpret as the North's attempt to enhance its negotiation position

against South Korea and the U.S. amid the tensions between China and the U.S. over trade.

" South Korea needs to cooperate with its neighbors and make sure the tough sanctions

on the North stay in place.

We are seeing a possible breakthrough in solving the North Korea crisis.

It's like a puzzle... with the pieces representing many different interests.

We need to put it together with caution and preparation... or else we are back to brinksmanship."

Kim Hyesung, Arirang News.

Bank of Korea sees highest net profit in 16 years thanks to lower interest rates - Duration: 0:34.

In 2017, the Bank of Korea saw its biggest net profit in 16 years.

The total profit declined on-year, but total costs dipped even further.

Lower interest rates meant it was cheaper to issue monetary stabilization bonds.

Those are bonds issued by the central bank to control the amount of money flowing in

the market.

According to the BOK's annual report for last year, total net profits came to some 3-point-9

trillion won or 3-point-7 billion U.S. dollars.

This is the highest it's been since 2001 when the figure was around 4-point-2 trillion won.

Output across all industries in Korea dropped 0.8% y/y in Feb. - Duration: 1:39.

Turning to the latest figures on the nation's industrial output now.

Despite improvements in consumption and auto production... the data for February shows

sliding on-year growth.

Kim Ji-yeon help us look beyond the numbers.

Despite an uptick in consumption,... Korea's industrial output dropped by zero-point-eight

percent in February compared to the same month last year,... mainly due to sluggish growth

in the construction sector.

Statistics Korea says output in the construction sector dropped nearly 4-percent from the previous

month as orders plunged by nearly 39-percent on-year in February.

Most of the gains in output for February came from the mining and manufacturing sectors

on increased automobile and semiconductor output.

An official from the statistics agency says the shutdown of the GM Korea plant in Gunsan

last month had little to no effect on the country's automobile output overall, although

it has heavily affected the southwestern coastal city.

Output in Jeollabuk-do Province where Gunsan is located, dropped to zero-point-seven-percent

from the previous month in February... slowing from near 4-percent growth in January.

Retail sales increased by around one-percent on increased sales of non-durable goods such

as clothes and vehicle fuel.

Facility investment surged by more than one-percent from the previous month, particularly investment

related to shipbuilding and shipping equipment.

Output in the services sector recorded a fifth straight month of decline, edging down zero-point-one-percent

from the previous month due to the declining number of eateries, bistros and bars.

Trump says he could 'hold up' South Korea trade deal for leverage in North Korea talks - Duration: 2:31.

U.S. President Donald Trump turned heads by saying he will "hold up" the recently amended

Seoul-Washington trade agreement.... until a deal is made with North Korea.

Speculation runs rampant over how exactly the unpredictable leader plans to use the

FTA as leverage.

Cha Sang-mi delves deeper to find out what could be the method to his sudden decision.

Before the ink had even dried on the newly amended South Korea-U.S Free Trade Agreement,...

President Trump said he may 'hold up' the trade deal in order to use it as leverage

in any upcoming negotiations with North Korea and their nuclear program.

Calling it a 'strong card',... Trump made it clear how he wants to use the trade deal.

"Just this week we secured a wonderful deal with South Korea.

(cut) And I may hold it up till after a deal is made with North Korea.

Does everybody understand that?

You know why, right?

You know why?

Because it's a very strong card and I want to make sure everyone is treated fairly and

we're moving along very nicely with North Korea.

We'll see what happens."

Major U.S. media outlets commented on Trump's remarks.

The Wall Street Journal wrote that President Trump is leveraging the deal with South Korea

for a deal with the North.

Bloomberg said the timing of the trade deal will help Trump to negotiate with Kim Jong-un

to ultimately abandon his nuclear ambitions.

And according to AP News, the U.S. could "extract better trade terms" with South Korea as a

successful nuclear deal with North Korea is also in Seoul's interest.

A local economic expert agreed with many U.S. press outlets that Trump may be trying to

use the KORUS FTA as leverage and keep as many options as possible for the upcoming

summit.

"The first is to wait and see what happens during the summit with the North Korean government,

Kim Jong-un, and the second reason is because President Trump has gotten a lot of criticism

about the results of the KORUS FTA negotiations so he may want to re-examine, and have time

to re-examine it."

Another expert who wanted to remain anonymous mentioned that the KORUS FTA is just the start,

and President Trump is likely to come up with more leverage against South Korea before he

begins the nuclear talks with Kim Jong-un.

Cha Sang-mi, Arirang News.
