Top 2018 moment?

Um...

You wanna know what's so messed up about

these "top 2018 moments"?

No matter how big something is in 2018,

it lasts for three days

and then everyone forgets about it.

I would say that 2018 was def--

it wa-- it was the year of the underdog

where the people that you expected to lose

were actually winning,

and the people that thought

they would win were losing.

♪♪

Two moments stand out for me in 2018.

One was Megan Markle becoming the princess.

That's a big deal because

England is really, really, really conservative.

And then to have a black woman

in the royal family is a big deal.

I don't think we've seen anything like this.

I mean, she's black, and that's a big deal.

♪♪

I think women are the bomb,

but in "Black Panther" the movie,

it was amazing to see the women

were just-- the wave.

They were everything.

Skylar was like this...

Like, frozen to the screen.

It just made me proud to see all the support.

You know, I just felt like,

finally, finally black people

were being celebrated for their creativity

and their excellence.

And I feel like we were finally allowed to define our magic.

And then our magic just defined everything else.

Oh, my God. The most painful to watch

standout moment was Kanye West endorsing Donald Trump.

Kanye West really disappointed me.

I don't know the guy personally,

but from my observation, it doesn't look like

Kanye West has been...

pretty much sane since he lost his mother.

And I know it takes a long time to heal from that.

Kanye West and his shenanigans.

It affects so many people in different ways.

Some of the things he says just don't make sense.

And if you can't articulate your point

and get it out the way you wanna get it out,

then maybe you shouldn't try.

Or maybe you shouldn't go to the White House

and sit there and have this whole, you know,

30-minute diatribe about America

and how we've been great

when we really haven't been great ever.

You're sitting here talking about this man

in this MAGA hat like it makes you a superhero.

That's the most ridiculous thing that anybody's ever heard.

I don't think anybody denies Kanye's genius musically.

But when you set your people back,

you're actually causing more damage

than you are causing good.

And that's just-- that's my opinion on it.

Listen, I'm sorry. I live in my own world.

I focus on me, and I study me.

I can't-- I don't got time to be studying or worrying

about what these other people are doing

in their stinkin', filthy-ass lives

that I don't give a (bleep) about.

ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 Unboxing and Initial Impressions - Duration: 7:30.

Hey Guys its Sagar from Tecworkz, and yes, the wait is over. My Asus Zenfone Max Pro

M2 got delivered today, and here is my unboxing and initial impressions about it.

Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 is quite a mouthful, So In this video, am just going to call it

the Max Pro M2.

This phone is the successor to the very popular Zenfone Max Pro M1, which actually just came

out in May of this year. So it looks like ASUS is also adopting the half yearly update

cycle.

This time Asus went with a black box, and I think it looks better than the White and

Blue box that the Max Pro M1 came in.

I went with the Blue coloured phone with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of Built in storage. It's

also available in 3GB RAM and 32GB Storage, and 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variants. I think

4GB Ram variant for 14,999Rs strikes the best balance, and is a good value for your money.

Now as we slide open this cover, we have this envelope saying we love photo. ASUS said this

with the Max Pro M1 as well, but in my opinion camera was one of its weakest feature. They

seem to have included good set of cameras this time, and we will definitely put that

to test in another video.

Anyways, moving ahead, this envelope contains a SIM tray Removal PIN, some paperwork with

warranty and regulatory information. And a thin transparent TPU case. It's nice to

see ASUS include a case this time.

We then have the phone in this wrap, and you get some information like its running on the

Snapdragon 660 processor, packs in a mammoth 5000mAh battery in a phone which isn't too

thick or heavy, and this is the only phone in this price segment, which comes with Gorilla

Glass 6 protection for the display. I don't know how ASUS managed to give us all

this at a starting pricing of 12,999Rs, but just like with the Max Pro M1, they are again

trying to shake the entire segment, with this new phone.

I know you all want to get a glimpse of the phone, but let's just keep it aside for a

few moments, while we take a look at what are the other things that we get in the box.

There's a USB Type A to Micro USB cable for charging and data transfer. So no USB

C port on this phone is a bit disappointing. Then there is a standard 10watt charger, nothing

too fancy here.

Now let's keep all these things aside, and get back to the phone. Right at the first

glance, you can tell that this phone looks much better than the Zenfone Max Pro M1. There's

this glass like reflective finish to the back, with Asus branding under the fingerprint sensor,

and a vertical dual camera setup. I said glass like finish, because this back panel is not

made of glass. ASUS did not mention the actual material, but if I had to guess, I would say

it's made of plastic.

The phone feels really nice in the hand. It packs in a mammoth 5000mAh battery, but it

is not too heavy, in fact it actually feels light compared to some of the other devices

that I have been using in the last few weeks. This frame around the device is made of plastic.

It would have been nice to see some metal here, to make the device feel more robust.

It is a glossy shiny plastic, so we will have to wait and see how it holds up against the

scratches, from every day wear.

Let's look at the ports and buttons, before we move on to the front. Top is pretty clean,

with just 1 noise cancelling microphone. On the right, we have the Volume and Power buttons,

which are tactile. Then at the bottom, we have a single downward

firing speaker, it's a 5 magnet speaker with a dedicated NXP smart amplifier, so you

can expect good and loud audio from this phone. Besides that there is a a micro USB port for

charging and data transfer, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

And on the left side, we just have the SIM tray.

This is the kind of SIM Tray that I really like. You can use 2 nano SIM cards and a MicroSD

card. You don't have to choose between more storage or another sim card, like you have

to do with the phones having Hybrid SIM Tray.

Now at the front, you get a huge 6.3 inch IPS LCD screen, with a small notch at the

top. This notch is much smaller compared to the one on the Redmi Note 6 Pro. They have

moved the earpiece speaker above the notch, and this grill also housed the notification

LED. Although the Notch is small, it still hides behind it the 13 megapixel selfie camera,

ambient Light Sensor, proximity sensor, and a LED flash.

The display itself is covered by Gorilla Glass 6, which is a big deal, since Zenfone Max

Pro M2 is the only phone in this segment offering this kind of protection.

Other than these physical upgrades, M2 also gets a few much needed hardware upgrades.

For starters, the fingerprint sensor at the back is now much faster. This was my number

1 complain with the Zenfone Max Pro M1. No matter how many software updates ASUS sent

to improve it, this sensor on the Max pro M1 was much slower than any of the other smartphones

that I tried in over one year. We then have improved cameras, both at the front and back.

At the back we now have a 12 megapixel primary camera with F/1.8 Aperture. This uses the

SONY IMX486 sensor. Secondary camera has a 5 megapixel depth sensor, and it helps to

capture depth information for portrait shots.

There's a 13 megapixel camera at the front, and ASUS says that should perform much better

compared to the one on the Zenfone Max Pro M1.

It seems there are a lot of options in the camera app including portrait and AI mode.

But will dig deep into this in our dedicated camera review of this phone.

Processor has also been updated to Snapdragon 660 compared to the 636 on the Max Pro M1.

This processor comes with Kryo 260 cores and it is coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. It comes

with 3,4 or 6GB of RAM options. And storage wise, you can go with 32 or 64GB of built

in storage, with the option to expand it anytime via a microSD card.

All of this combined with Stock Android operating system, means this phone will just fly through

most of the things that you throw at it. And day to day performance should not be an issue.

Right now it is not running on Android Pie, but ASUS has promised an Android Pie update

for this phone, sometime in early 2019. Asus has been very prompt with software updates

for the Max Pro M1, so I believe they will do the same for this phone as well.

With all these internal and external upgrades, Asus seems to have again stepped up the game

for all of its competitors. I will have to test the cameras on this phone and I will

have more to say about it in my coming videos, but other than that, this ZenFone Max Pro

M2 seems like a much better option when compared to the Redmi Note 6 pro.

Shannon Jones: Todd, it would not be biotech if it weren't for the pipeline blow-ups and

setbacks that always seem to happen. 2018 was no exception to that.

There were some notable pipeline blow-ups this year.

Todd Campbell: We could have done an entire show on swings and misses.

Unfortunately, it's just the nature of the beast in biotech. It's notorious for its failed trials.

90% of clinical trials end up failing to pan out. It's not shocking that there were a number of setbacks.

One that might have been a little shocking, we've talked about it on the show before,

is Celgene's refuse to file letter that it got in February from the FDA for its arguably

most important pipeline drug, Ozanimod, which is a drug that is hoping to be used in multiple sclerosis.

It's an oral drug that would compete against Gilenia, which is a $3 billion plus drug.

Celgene went out and paid $7 billion to land that drug.

And everybody was looking forward to that one getting filed early this year, and then

getting approved before the end of this year. Didn't happen.

Unfortunately, the FDA looked at the application and said,

"No. We can't review this.

You're going to have to get together more information and resubmit it to us."

Jones: I think that's truly one of the more embarrassing stories of 2018.

This is Celgene, this is one of the big biotechs that every little biotech hopes to become one day.

So, to have that management misstep, to where there's not even enough evidence for the FDA

to review to say that this drug is approvable, is unquestionably disappointing.

I am encouraged, though, with Celgene.

I know they've had some management shuffles throughout the year.

I think they're getting back on track.

But, certainly, that was one that had a lot of people scratching their heads.

The next one, we talked a little bit about. Of course, that was Incyte and their Phase III flop.

Campbell: Yeah, the IDO inhibitor being used with PD-1. That came up short in April.

Obviously, that caused a big sell-off in Incyte shares, and it caused IDO programs at various

different companies to get shuttered. That was a devastating blow.

But even more devastating than Incyte's failure was probably the news that J&J was abandoning

development of Geron's Imetelstat, a therapy for myelofibrosis, myelodysplastic syndromes.

Jones: I know we've talked about this at length with Geron.

This has been one of the more polarizing biotech stocks to watch.

You definitely saw the red flags have been there leading up to this breakup with J&J.

Ultimately, what you have now is Geron just holding on, hoping maybe a partner might come in.

But really, their cash is dwindling.

This will be a stock that, if I had to rank the ones that I don't think will make it,

this would probably be near the top of that list.

Campbell: 2019 will be key.

They could theoretically suffer a cash crunch by the end of next year.

It'll be very interesting to see what they do with this drug.

If J&J had gone forward, had taken this drug into Phase III, it would have been a huge payday.

It'd be a very different story for investors in Geron.

Geron shares lost 62% of their value when J&J walked away.

I looked earlier this morning, only trading at $1.40 a share.

That's down from $6 prior to the decision back in September.

Obviously a big bummer for those shareholders. The list goes on and on, though, Shannon.

You hinted at the top of the show, Synergy Pharmaceuticals probably making that list

even longer this year, this morning announcing that they're actually going to go and declare

bankruptcy in order to sell their assets off to Bausch & Lomb for about $200 million.

Synergy had launched a constipation drug to battle against Linzess, the top-seller in the indication.

However, they had too much debt on the books, they weren't able to refinance that debt.

With sales not ramping up nearly as quickly as was necessary, now, they've had to basically

shut down their operations and fire sale the rest of their assets.

Jones: I'm sure there'll be many more to come in 2019.

Volvo Trucks - Designing Vera and the future of transportation - Duration: 3:11.

A good design needs to fulfil its purpose,

and it should be obvious how you are going to use it.

The other aspect is the emotional side of it.

It appeals to you and you really like it.

It takes a lot of great minds to come up with something like Vera.

The first question that we asked ourselves

was who do we actually design this vehicle for

when there is no cab and no driver in the picture any more?

What we figured out was there will still be human interaction around

and we are actually designing for a greater context which is society.

So Vera will work with people and for people.

When you are working with an idea that's never been done,

it's always scary in the beginning.

Vera is a very high-tech product,

but what does all this technology mean to the people out on the street?

One strength that designers have is to give the technology a meaning, a story.

We don't do the technology for its technological sake.

Having that in mind, we really try to integrate all this fine technology

into the design of the vehicle.

The dark parts represent the technical side of Vera,

and it starts with the brain over here.

This is where the intelligence lies.

This area is the most important part on the vehicle,

therefore we decided to put the iron mark and the slash on top of it.

The light surfaces represent the human side of the vehicle.

We kept it rather soft and simple so it feels approachable

and not too heavy on the road.

Look at the headlamps over here.

We came up with this great idea of combining the graphics with the light

so the light appears to shine through the body

and create these iconic V lights.

The side surfaces, we kept it rather simple and soft,

but we've used some scallops to highlight the backbone.

This surface continues to the front and creates these fenders.

It appears like a shoulder and gives some confidence to the vehicle.

It gives us that trust feeling that it's able to pull those tons behind it.

The rear end of Vera is very iconic.

We wanted to create something recognisable instantly.

The biggest challenge is to work on an idea that's never been done before.

You know that what you're going to create will be the first one

and will be looked at.

I've seen so many people taking selfies with Vera.

To me, that means that we actually managed to give her a soul.

It just feels that they acknowledge Vera almost as a person.

Yoast SEO in WordPress (block editor) - Yoast SEO for WordPress training - Duration: 7:22.

In this module, we're going to dive deeper into the Yoast SEO for WordPress plugin.

And in this video we're going to see all the locations where you can find elements

of the Yoast SEO plugin.

And the first one we're going to look at is the WordPress dashboard.

So if you're the WordPress dashboard, you can see the Yoast SEO posts overview meta box

at the bottom and there are three elements to it.

First of all, you have the published posts SEO scores, which is subdivided

into three separate categories.

And these categories are called "needs improvement" "good" and "OK".

And this is very convenient because it allows you to see the category, for example

"needs improvement", if you click that,

you get an overview of all the posts which have bad SEO scores

so you can very quickly see which posts you need to optimize for.

The second element is called the indexability check by Ryte and this simply gives you feedback

on whether your homepage can be put into the search results by the search engines.

So this is useful for a quick check.

And the third column is simply an overview of the latest blog posts on yoast.com.

Now, there's a second location in which you can find the Yoast SEO plugin and it's called

the posts overview.

So if you click "Posts" you can see all the posts you have and there are elements of

Yoast SEO in here as well.

On the right you can see four columns (that is if you have the Premium version -

otherwise you have three) and the first column is the number of internal links in that particular post.

And you need to have a good internal linking structure

- which we're going to go to come back to later - and this gives you an overview of

how you're doing on that part.

The second column is only available in Premium and it shows you the number of internal links

linking TO this post so all the other posts on your sites linking to that post.

The third one shows the SEO score, which in this case is

green for the top one and red for the middle one.

And the fourth one shows you the readability score.

So here you have an overview of all your posts and the SEO scores and the internal links.

You can see at the top two additional things: "orphaned content" (note that this is a Premium

feature as well and you won't see it if you're using the free plugin) and "cornerstone content".

We're going to come back to cornerstone content but just quickly it's - cornerstone content

means it's the most important posts on your site and you can see here and select

here the cornerstone content articles to make sure that you're doing well on the most

important parts of your site.

Orphaned content is content on your site which is not linked to, so which is not part of

your internal linking structure and you should really avoid that so if you click the orphaned

content one you can make sure that you link to this post from other posts to make sure

that your SEO internal linking strategy is in order.

Now, there is one more thing we can do here which is to click the "screen options"

option and if you do that you can show the SEO title, the meta description and the

focus keyword on this page.

So let's do that.

If you click those, you can see some additional information.

If we click a post we'll see that there is a lot of Yoast SEO going on there as well.

There's two important parts in the block editor where you can see Yoast SEO.

First of all, there's the metabox at the bottom of your post.

And then there is the Yoast SEO sidebar.

So the sidebar and the metabox basically do the same things.

The metabox has some more functionalities, but the first tab - as you can see here - the "content optimization tab"

is completely available here as well.

And the advantage of that is that you can work on your post on the left

and optimize it at the same time, on the right.

So let's go through the headings you see here.

If you click the snippet preview, you can actually see a preview

of what your search results may look like in Google if you do it like this.

And you can edit some things, to make sure it looks different.

We'll come back to that later in this course.

The second one is a readability analysis.

The readability analysis basically gives you feedback on the readability of your text.

The third one, is where you enter your focus keyphrase.

So the focus keyphrase of this article is email marketing

and we'll give you feedback on whether you're optimizing well for that.

Then, there's the option of adding related keyphrases.

This is a Premium feature, so if you want to optimize for other terms as well,

you can add an additional keyphrase here, and you'll receive feedback,

much the same as you'll receive it for the focus keyphrase.

The next heading allows you to mark this piece as cornerstone content.

So, if your piece is very important, you can mark it as cornerstone content and the analysis will be a bit stricter.

Under that you'll see the internal linking suggestions,

which is basically a list of articles, which it might be good to link to, because they are related to each other.

So, if you want to improve your internal linking, you can see here what you need to do.

And we'll come back to internal linking later in this course as well.

Below that, there is another Premium feature, which is called Insights,

and it shows you the most prominent words in your article

and as you can see here, this article,

actually the focus keyphrase is the word combination which is used most often in this article

so that's a good sign.

You can use Insights to see whether you're optimizing your text well and whether your text

actually has the focus you want it to have.

Now, there are a couple of things which are present in the Yoast SEO metabox under the post,

which are not present in the sidebar.

So, there is the social tab,

and in the social tab you can basically see what your post may look like

when shared on social media, like Facebook and Twitter.

And you can do a couple of things as well here.

Then there's the Advanced tab, which we'll come back to later,

and if you have extensions installed, like Local SEO or News SEO, you can see additional tabs right here.

Now you may have noticed at the top of the page a Yoast logo as well and what you can

do here is quickly navigate to some convenient tools, for example the configuration wizard,

which allows you to configure your plugin settings,

and there's some tools to help with keyword research as well and your SEO settings.

Another important part is located in your user settings.

You can change roles and there's an SEO editor role and an SEO manager role

which allows you to make sure that the right people have the correct rights.

So you can manage that here.

Now the last thing which is important are the Yoast SEO settings

and all of these settings warrant a complete module, so we're going to go into that later in this course.

Dark Chocolate

It's a scientific fact that dark chocolate is to women what cat nip is to cats.

That is to say, a primordial obsession.

But did you know it works wonders for guys too?

Specifically, it'll work wonders for your guys.

Dark chocolate is bursting with amino acid L-Arginine HCL, which does to sperm what spinach

does to Popeye.

Not only that, but it supposedly increases orgasm intensity too.

Now you know why men traditionally give their girlfriends a bar or two on Valentine's

Day.

Spinach

Speaking of Popeye, it turns out the dude was more than just strong.

He probably had the highest sperm count across the whole seven seas.

Spinach, like most leafy green vegetables, is rich in folic acid.

Knock folic out of your diet and it's like taking an axe to your testicles.

Your poor sperm will become weaker, slower and significantly fewer.

By contrast, stuffing your face with a daily dose of spinach will leave you firing off

live rounds like Al Pacino at the end of Scarface.

No wonder Olive Oyl stuck with her sailor man.

Bananas

You can tell bananas will be good for your junk just by looking at them.

That's why God decided to shape them just like a wang, so we'd all know exactly what

they were for (or just to make us nervous about eating one in public).

Because bananas aren't just good for your sperm.

They're great.

Bananas are basically concentrated lumps of vitamin A, B1 and C, three things guaranteed

to boost sperm power, health and productivity.

They also contain the enzyme Bromelain, which increases your sperm count like crazy.

Carrots

Ah, the humble carrot.

You probably remember your mom telling you to eat them because they'd help you see

in the dark.

We hate to say it, but that's just a myth.

No, the real, secret reason your mom made you eat all those carrots was to secure herself

some grandkids one day.

See, carrots are basically wonder food for your sperm.

This is thanks to their carrying an insane amount of vitamin A. As you'll remember

from the last entry, vitamin A gives your sperm all sorts of boosts.

It's also found in red bell peppers and oatmeal, in case you need to vary your diet.

Red Stuff

You know what's really great for male fertility?

Red stuff.

Foods that look like someone has chucked red paint across them.

Foods like tomatoes, guavas, watermelon, papaya, grapefruit and red peppers.

Foods that contain the miracle that is lycopene.

In 2014, a study found that foods containing lycopene, which helps give stuff like tomatoes

their red color, could boost men's sperm count by up to 70 percent.

Even if you've only got a handful of lonely sperm swimming around your sack, wondering

where their friends went, that's a tremendous increase.

Oysters

You may have heard someone ask 'what did the Romans ever do for us?'

We think we've stumbled across the perfect answer.

They were the guys who figured out oysters are essential to a bed-shaking sex life.

Not only do these humble sea creatures send your sex drive through the roof, they're

loaded with enough zinc to open their own sperm factory.

Zinc is an essential building block of sperm, and having a ton of it in your body will increase

your count by staggering levels.

Experts advise trying eight in one evening and seeing how things go from there.

Just prepare yourself to deal with broken bedsprings and neighbors complaining about

all those screams your girlfriend was letting rip with.

Nuts

Nuts are super-healthy in general, and many of us snack on them regularly.

You may want to up your intake even more.

According to study after study, nuts are basically God's gift to sperm.

Basically, give more nuts to your sperm, and your nuts will give more sperm to you.

Walnuts in particular are winners.

A 2012 study has shown that 75g per day is enough to send levels of sperm vitality, motility

and morphology through the roof.

This is due to the abnormally high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids in nuts.

Almonds and peanuts, too, can help strengthen your boys' swimming team.

Then there are Brazil nuts.

Packed with Selenium, these guys will give you a testosterone kick that'll push your

body to produce more sperm naturally.

Mushrooms

The words 'fungus' and 'genitals' are not ones you'd ideally like to hear

in the same sentence.

But make no mistake, eating fungus in the form of mushrooms will make your genitals'

Christmas come early.

Mushrooms of all varieties are stuffed full of vitamin D, a vitamin that improves all

aspects of your sex life.

Its main bonus is that it helps blood flow in the penis, improving your erections, or

even getting rid of erectile dysfunction altogether.

But it can provide a much-needed boost to your sperm, too.

Of course, if you live in California, you'll be getting enough vitamin D from the sunlight

anyway.

For those of us who live in the cold, icy north (lookin' at you, Canada), mushrooms

put the 'fun' into 'fungus'.

(Okay, we'll stop now.)

Salmon

Omega-3 is one of the most-popular fatty acids on Earth.

The lists of its benefits are long and include everything from lowering your risk of heart

attack to boosting your levels of arousal before sex.

They also include helping your sperm count.

A study in Human Reproduction concluded that men who eat oily fish rich in fatty acids

have higher quality semen than men who skimp on Omega-3.

This means more sperm that are all better at doing what they're programmed to do:

racing to that egg and fertilizing the heck out of it.

Tuna, mackerel or sardines will do the job, but we recommend a nice big portion of salmon.

Red Meat

A totally non-scientific poll we just conducted in our own heads has proven what we knew all

along… men love red meat.

For most of us, there is literally nothing better than heading home after a hard day's

work writing lists for the internet to a rare steak, a cold beer, and then some fantastic

sex.

And now you have a scientific reason to do so, too.

Turns out red meat is spectacular for your sperm count.

Red meat contains the nutrient L-carnitine in crazy-high doses.

This little miracle nutrient has been proven to increase sperm count and motility drastically.

In especially good news for anyone struggling to conceive, the greatest increases came in

men who had low baseline levels of sperm.
