This AI Learns Human Movement From Videos - Duration: 2:48.

Dear Fellow Scholars, this is Two Minute Papers with Károly Zsolnai-Fehér.

In a previous episode, we discussed a technique where we could specify a low-quality image

of a test subject, and a photo of a different person.

What happens then is that the algorithm transformed our test subject into that pose.

With an other algorithm, we can transfer our facial gestures onto a different target subject.

And this new method does something completely different — here, we can copy a full-body

movement from a video and transfer it onto a target person.

This way, we can appear to be playing tennis, baseball or finally be able to perform a hundred

chin-ups.

Well, at least, on Instagram.

Now, look here!

Up here you see the target poses, and on the left, the target subjects.

And between them, we see the output of this algorithm with the target subjects taking

these poses.

As you see, the algorithm is quite consistent in a sense that during walking, we often encounter

the same pose, which results in a very similar image.

That's exactly the kind of consistency that we're looking for!

Remarkably, this algorithm is also able to synthesize angles of these target subjects

that it hadn't seen before.

For instance, the backside of this person was never shown to the algorithm and it correctly

guesses interesting details, like the belt of this character to continue around the waist.

Really cool, I love it!

We can also put these characters in a virtual environment and animate them there.

Now, this work, like most papers that explore something completely new, is raw and experimental.

Clearly, there are issues with occlusions, flickering, and the silhouettes of the characters

give the trick away.

Anyone looking at this footage can tell in a second that it is not real.

The reason I am so excited about this is that now, we finally see that this is a viable

concept, and it will provide fertile grounds for new followup research works to be improved

upon.

Two more papers down the line, it will probably work in HD and look significantly better.

Just imagine how amazing that would be for movies, computer games and telepresence applications.

Sign me up!

And, computer graphics research has a vast body of papers on how to illuminate these

characters to appear as if they were really there in this environment.

Will this be done with computer graphics, or through AI?

I am really keen to see how these fields will come together to solve such a challenging

problem.

While we were injured, we had a lot of time to play games

To be honest we didn't have that much time to play...

as we worked on a lot of other things but we did find some time

Some of you probably already know the game

we're talking about: Red Bull Bike Unchained 2.

The game is a lot of fun

and we spent quite a lot of time playing it.

The cool things is, that we actually got our own characters.

Fabio's character has the Red Bull helmet and the One Million hoodie

So the hoodie I'm wearing, the one Million hoodie,

is in the game and so is Elias Sick! Series hoodie.

It's really awesome. So we thought, that we

could link the whole thing together with some cool challenges including the game.

We're going to do a best of five. There are going To be five challenges and whoever manages to win

the most challenges will be the victor.

We're already at the spot of the first

challenge. We'll start with a one versus one race. A kind of stair-downhill race,

if you want to call it that.

Whoever is fastest, wins the first challenge.

Exactly! Let's go! The race starts up there,

down this set of stairs followed by a

right turn and a left turn. Immediately after the

left turn, hard to see from here, is a garbage bin. That's the finish line.

Alright "Rock, Paper, Scissors", best out of three

for who hast to start. Loser has to go first.

Ask an adult for help to cut the soap cubes into small pieces.

Place them in a microwave safe mug.

Ask an adult to heat your soap in the microwave in 30 second intervals until the soap has completely melted.

Carefully pour melted soap into the mold, about 2/3rds of the way.

Hello! I'm Alex, also known as Mr. Panda, and this is my review of

Guacamelee! 2 for the Nintendo Switch!

In a saturated market of non-linear Metroidvania games, Drinkbox Studios' Guacamelee! stood

out for its emphasis on Luchador wrestling brawls and platforming challenges,

all with a colorful Mexican flair.

Years later, the developers revisit the formula with Guacamelee! 2,

a solid—albeit iterative—sequel.

Oh, and you can play as a chicken.

The game picks up years after the events of the first Guacamelee!.

The Mexican wrestler Juan, once a hero and champion,

now lives a normal life with his new family.

The story wastes no time getting him back in the ring.

When black clouds suddenly appear in the sky, Juan's mentor, in the form of a goat, informs

him that he must travel through a portal to the darkest timeline

in order to save the Mexiverse.

Yeah...

So our hero shifts to an alternate reality and ends up…in a parody of the game Limbo...?

Guacamelee! 2 does not take itself seriously at all,

and that's one of its greatest charms.

It parodies other games, revels in references, and features consistently funny dialogue.

Unfortunately, there is no voice acting, but the humor carries through the writing and

characters' expressions.

On a related note, the world is brimming with color and a vivid Mexican aesthetic.

Accompanied by a soundtrack that fuses Latin, mariachi, and synth,

the Mexiverse truly feels alive.

Juan, despite being a heavyweight wrestler, is nimble, which complements the fast flow

of platforming.

His Luchador-inspired moveset not only fits the theme,

but helps him reign victorious in fights.

The game is appropriately divided into two types of play: platforming and brawls.

While the latter encapsulates the heart of wrestling, it's the former that shines.

The map is set up like a Metroidvania, a large maze where you have to learn moves and use

them to unlock gates.

You're not just running through empty hallways, though.

Every screen is a new platforming challenge that tests your ability to utilize your moves

to get around.

The controls are easy to use, and the actions are pulled off with simple button combos,

almost like a platformer version of Super Smash Bros.

Your moveset includes wrestling attacks that offer vertical or horizontal movement, the

ability to swap dimensions between the living and dead worlds, and the new Eagle Shot, which

allows you to fling Juan in any direction using cleverly placed hooks.

The inventive level design demands combining multiple abilities in perfect sequential progression

to survive.

It can get overwhelming to have such a huge arsenal and coordinate your fingers to push

the correct buttons, but it's such a rush to execute.

Although some areas took me a while to get through, I rarely felt upset thanks to the

instant respawns, usually within the same room.

Each individual platforming area is so satisfying on its own that I felt like Guacamelee! 2

didn't even need the Metroidvania design to succeed.

Regardless, hidden chests and shortcuts are welcome diversions.

I especially appreciated the optional challenge rooms, which are significantly harder and

require precise mastery of your skills.

And of course, how could I not love that you can transform into a chicken?

As a bonus, the chicken is beefed up this time around, with new power-ups

and its own mini dungeons.

It's ridiculous and fits Guacamelee! 2's tone perfectly.

It should come as no surprise, but you gain skills from Choozo Statues,

a loving homage to Metroid.

From there, you can purchase upgrades and extra skills in the menu.

There's a fair progression system that asks you to complete certain tasks like performing

100-hit combos, in addition to having enough gold, to acquire abilities.

They all come to play in the Luchas, or fight sections.

Frequently, you will find yourself locked in a room as enemies continuously spawn.

At this point, the game becomes a brawler.

The same versatile moves that assist in platforming can be used to beat the salsa out of enemies.

Fights aren't too difficult, and they serve as cathartic breaks in between stressful platforming.

However, the game eventually throws in enemies that have special color-coded shields that

can only be broken by a specific move.

For example, red-shielded enemies must be hit by the red aura Rooster Uppercut.

It adds depth to fighting at first, but quickly becomes unruly once you have a bunch of moves

and have to remember which one produces which color aura.

If you've played the original Guacamelee!, all of this will probably sound familiar.

The formula hasn't really changed.

The structure and even most of the skills are the same.

On one hand, Drinkbox Studios did such a solid job with the first one that there was no need

to change much.

However, it does feel iterative, after the original that felt like a stellar innovation.

Despite this, my eyes were glued to the screen during my ten hour playthrough, which is a

good deal longer than the first one.

That number easily increases if you seek out every secret, complete the map, obtain every

collectible, and earn the humorously named achievements.

It goes without saying that the Nintendo Switch version's portable mode is a big plus, and

it was always easy to dive back in with frequent save points.

There is a four-player local co-op mode to dabble in with friends.

It can be fun in a good group of skilled players since one player's success propels everyone forward.

But it also has its annoyances, such as the dimension swapping being utterly confusing

with more people.

Worst case scenario, extra players can retreat into a bubble during harder segments à la

New Super Mario Bros.

Guacamelee! 2 is a fun, lighthearted game that incorporates intense platforming and fast-paced Luchador fights.

The sequel doesn't bring many new ideas to the table, and veterans of the original

may want to hold off for a while unless they're craving more of the Mexiverse.

Otherwise, if you're looking for a tight Metroidvania with vibrant colors and a great

sense of humor, then it's an easy recommendation to dip your chips into Guacamelee! 2.

I give Guacamelee! 2

an eight out of ten.

Online Video Recorders: A review of the Loom, Soapbox and VideoGo Chrome Extensions - Duration: 4:58.

In today's video

we're going to talk about online video recorders.

These are extensions that you can use

to record video and record your screen.

With personal video messages being all the rage,

I decided to compare Loom,

Soapbox,

and Vidyard's GoVideo.

So let's get started.

If you haven't done so already,

hit that subscribe button. And don't forget to hit the bell for notifications.

All three of the videos I'm talking about today

you can get at the Chrome Web Store.

They're an extension that go with Chrome.

The first one I'm talking about is Loom.

And I've done previous videos on that if you look through my channel.

You can find several of them on Loom.

And of course it is a desktop app that you can use

to record your screen and cam at the same time.

Or your screen only.

Or your cam only.

And you can do that by just clicking the button.

You choose if you want screen and cam,

screen only or cam only.

So you can see, I put a little picture in for when I'm doing screen only.

You can do the full desktop or you can do the current tab.

And you can adjust the microphone audio.

And you just hit start recording.

Once you start recording,

you can cancel the recording down here and you can also pause it.

Once you get your video recorded,

you can either download it,

or you can share it.

You can also hit trim

And start trimming and editing your video.

The next one I want to bring up is Soapbox.

Soapbox is by Wistia.

And again, you can get it in the chrome store by just clicking this button.

If you scroll down you'll find a little demo video to show you how to use it.

And it does have an editing tool that looks really neat.

Where you can make it split screen with your cam and your screen.

You can make it where it's just your cam.

Or you can make it where it's just a screen.

And you can even zoom into spots on the page.

Just like loom it is free.

But you can upgrade for premium features.

This is the icon up here at the top. Let's click on that.

And I'll need to sign in with Google.

And what you do,

is you take your camera and you make sure your face is right here in the middle.

And then you start recording.

And when you're recording you will see the screen, but you won't see your camera .

Once you're done in the editing process is where you'll change that.

You can click the settings,

pick your microphone,

and you can also click your video source.

And to get started you just hit start recording.

The last one I'm going to talk about is by Vidyard.

Vidyard has a lot of cool video software. There's several of them I like.

But Vidyard GoVideo is free.

And again, you can find it in the Google Chrome extension store.

It has a little link if you scroll down the page.

Try Chrome for free.

It has the typical thing where you can choose to record a tab,

a screen or cam only.

You can send out your video.

And you can even use this one in Gmail.

This is the icon up here for the Vidyard GoVideo.

As you can see, I can choose a tab,

screen or cam only.

Microphone and your camera.

But this is where my face would be down here.

So if you're looking for a great way to send a personalized message,

or maybe even record a quick video showing somebody how to do something,

Try one of these three. Loom, Soapbox, Vidyard GoVideo are all free online recorders,

They all do screen capture.

They all do video and they all do a combination of them.

You can edit them directly in and then share a link.

Or even embed them into your emails.
