[♪INTRO]

Today on How to Adult, we're going to talk about how to wash the exterior of your car.

Here in Missoula, Montana—and probably many other places—It only really takes one spring

day of parking under a tree to trigger the sticky pollen-aphid poop-ocalypse.

And if you're extra lucky, the birds will have also generously fertilized your windshield,

or maybe a massive forest fire contributed to a chunky layer of tree ash onto your auto.

But even if you're driving around in, like, a pristine beautiful empty world with no birds

or plant-life, or forest fires your car is shedding little bits of itself onto itself

in dust-form.

There is no way to keep things clean in this world.

We're just going to have to go around cleaning and organizing until the heat death of the universe

But that's okay!

Because on a hot sunny day, cleaning your car's exterior is one of the more entertaining

cleaning endeavors to take on.

The first choice you're going to make on the road to a sparkly-clean car, is whether

you're going to do it yourself, or go to an automated car wash.

An automated car wash is going to be the fastest route, and the latest car washes are very

good at avoiding scratching paint.

From an environmental angle, they're required to send your oily soapy water to a water treatment

facility and they often use less water than a hand-wash.

They're also kind of magical.

Like, if there were some service that dragged me through a soapy hurricane of white noise

every evening, I would consider that.

However, there are reasons to hand wash as well.

This video would be awfully short if there weren't.

Hand washing gives you more control.

If you know there's a sweet decal on the side of your truck that might come off, you've

got specific products that you love, or you're worried about getting little-swirl marks from

a bad automatic car wash, you should consider hand washing.

It's also a good group activity.

If an automatic wash can be a lonely magical hurricane, a hand wash can be a party!

And finally, depending on how often you do it and how affordable your tastes are, hand-washing

can save you money.

So assuming you want to hand-wash, first take care not to let your contaminated water run

into storm drains or water sources.

It can be easy to take clean drinking water for granted when it magically appears from

the tap, but holy crap is it important that to protect our water sources if we're going

to survive as a species.

Park your car in grass or some gravel away from any storm drains, and at the end of your

wash pour your dirty water from your bucket into the toilet.

Consider buying eco-friendly soap, and a nozzle to put on your hose to waste less water.

You can also kind of go halfsies and go to a coin-operated car wash.

This has the benefit of using the least amount of water according to a 2002 Report for the

International Carwash Association (which is apparently a thing), and you don't have

to worry about where your water is going.

Now, for the actual car washing part, turn up the tunes and start with the wheels.

Fill up one clean bucket with water and either tire cleaner or a gentle dish soap, or purchase

a spray-on wheel cleaner.

Fill another clean bucket with water to rinse with.

Grab a tire brush or a cloth dedicated to tires.

Your tires are going to be super dirty, so you don't want to use the same cloth on

the tires as the body of the car.

Then, spray down your first wheel with pressurized water to rinse off brake dust and grime.

Take your brush or cloth and destroy that dust with your mighty car-washing muscles,

take care to rinse off your brush or cloth in the rinsing bucket when it gets too dirty,

and change that rinsing water when that gets too dirty, 'cause it's going to get dirty.

Rinse off your soap, and dry with a microfiber cloth, chamois, or soft terry cloth towel.

And repeat until all of your tires are sparkly.

Now for the main event: washing the body and the chrome.

Clean out the buckets out that you used for your tires, and prepare them with car shampoo

and water for the wash bucket, and just water for the rinse bucket.

Grab some car mitts, chamois, or microfiber cloths for washing, and microfiber cloths,

chamois, or terry cloth towels for drying.

The car is generally dirtier at the bottom—also, you want the dirt to fall downwards, and so

you clean up here, pushing the dirt down—so start at the top, work your way down.

Begin by giving your car a thorough rinse with water from your hose or coin-op sprayer

to get rid of some of that initial loose dirt.

You want to eliminate as much of the grittiness as possible to avoiding scratching your paint.

Then use the two bucket technique to soap up small overlapping sections of the car,

taking care to rinse out the dirt out after each section.

Repeat that whole-car rinse to wash off the soapy mixture.

If you're looking for a particularly deep clean, maybe you're about to sell your car,

maybe you just want to… impress the world, you can repeat the soap and rinse steps.

Finally, dry off your car.

Air drying will result in water spots, so use a cloth if you want it to look super nice…

which I assume you do 'cause you're washing your car.

Clean your headlights!

If your car is a little older—a little long in the tooth, a little grayer on the temples,

your headlights might not be all that they used to be.

And while cleaning the body of your car feels nice and looks good, having bright headlights

might be the difference between you seeing or not seeing something in the road.

And that's… important.

After you've washed and dried them in the previous step, mask off the surrounding area

with masking tape.

You're going to be buffing the headlight with toothpaste— which is a gritty substance,

there's actually, like, little rocks, tiny, like, pieces of sand in toothpaste—and we've

been avoiding rubbing grit on the car in all of our previous steps.

Then add a glob of toothpaste to a damp clean cloth and buff the plastic in a circular motion

until you've seen some improvement.

Now that your car is a beautiful shining metallic cuboid on the outside, check out our automotive

playlist to learn how to clean the interior of your car, do some basic maintenance, and

many more things auto.

Now for the actual washing part, turn up the tunes and start the wheels.

Oh.

[laughter]

Star— Turn up the tunes, and just...

drive the car. Into a lake. [laughing]

Grab some car mitts, chamois [Hank pronounces it: sham-WAH]

Chamois [Hank pronounces it: sham-OICE]

I'm not really sure how to say that word.

A moist sham-oice.

[laughter]

There' something else... there's something else that—

Oh! The sham-wow.

Because it's a sham-wah, and this was the sham-wow.

S-H-A-M-W—

[Howjsay Speaks:] "Shammy as in the cloth, sham-WAH as in the animal."

[audible gasps]

Did he say shammy!?

[off-screen, incredulous] Yeah

[EXPLETIVE BLEEPED] J said shammy. I gotta fix something.

[off-screen] You've gotta go back.

I said that wrong before.

Work it—this—what's—what's this called? Again? Sarah?

[Sarah] Down!

Yeah, okay.

Your headlights might not be wha— Oh pffffttt.

[laughter]

I felt good about that.

PCR Capture 3.0 - Duration: 2:22.

The PCR Capture plugin for Google Chrome has saved PCRecruiter users countless hours of

data entry in their sourcing and business development tasks.

The latest update to Capture comes through with another great time-saver that lets you

interact with people already in your database as you find them on the web.

Let's check it out.

We'll start by going to Resume Library, a site which contains millions of resumes

from active candidates that are searchable by location, salary, experience, education,

and more.

The latest edition of PCR Capture is able to generate name records from candidates unlocked

on this site.

Signing up and searching on Resume Library is totally free, and we'll spend credits

only on the records we have an interest in unlocking.

Here on the Dashboard is a list of three recently purchased candidate records, and it's here

that we can see the newest feature added to Capture: PCR Match.

We'll right-click on the screen and choose "Turn ON PCR Match" from the PCR Capture

context menu.

Now, PCR Capture skims the page for any hyperlinks that appear to contain a first and last name.

It then checks for matching names that exist in the PCRecruiter database.

If one or more names match, you'll see the PCR icon.

Two of these records appear to be a match.

Clicking on the icon for James in Santa Fe, we'll see that there are three records in

the database that match this first and last name combination.

Paging through, it looks like the third one is the one we want.

We can click on the name to jump to the record, or use the icons below to send James an email,

use an integrated phone or SMS system to call or text him, add his name to a Rollup list,

or see his position Pipeline records.

The PCR Match feature remains active in the current browser window as long as it stays

open, and it will work on any page where a first and last name combo appear as a link,

including popular social networks and search engines.

PCR Match is just one more convenient shortcut between your private recruitment database

and the public websites you frequent.

If you've got other suggestions for how PCR Capture could enhance your workflow, head

over to help.pcrecruiter.com and join the Ideas and Requests Forum.

If you already have PCR Capture installed, Chrome will update the extension automatically.

If you want to get started with Capture, search for PCR Capture at chrome.google.com/webstore

now.

What's Up Wednesday - March 21st: "School Safety" Special Session - Duration: 3:10.

Hello - I'm Representative Jonathan Brostoff and welcome to my latest edition of What's

up Wednesday.

Tomorrow, we will vote on a number of special session "school safety" bills at the request of Governor

Walker.

We are currently suffering from a public health crisis.

Gun violence continues to claim the lives of innocent children and other community members

across our nation and across our state.

Walker has had all year to do something -- anything -- about this.

But instead he fought against common sense policies like universal background checks.

But now that he's seen the polling numbers and he has a re-election coming up so, *poof*

he's suddenly concerned about children being murdered by gun violence.

What a coincidence…

But don't get too excited.

He's still shaking in his britches scared of the NRA, so he isn't actually asking

for anything significant to be done in regard to saving children's lives from gun violence.

After all, the NRA has given him $3.5 million over the last 8 years.

Poor Scott Walker…

On the one hand he wants to get reelected and knows that gun violence prevention is

a big issue in Wisconsin, on the other hand he trembles in the presence of any NRA representative

who enters the state capitol.

What is our governor to do?

Well...we should focus on common-sense measures that stop guns from getting into the wrong

hands.

Now, this a tough issue that will take a multifaceted approach, but we can start with some pretty

basic solutions like universal background checks, a ban on bump stock and high-capacity

magazines, reinstating the 48 hour waiting period, and keeping guns out of the hands

of domestic abusers, just to name a few.

Instead this package does nothing to prevent the next school shooting.

It does, however, give Attorney General Brad Schimel authority over funding for "school

safety" … and yes, this is the same AG that supports arming teachers as the solution

to gun violence in our schools.

The bottom line is that this package doesn't stop dangerous people from getting deadly

firearms.

We need common-sense gun safety measures that ensure guns do not end up in the wrong hands

and keep our children, our teachers, our school staff, and our communities safe.

Walker is ignoring the pleas from students and their families who want their schools

to be safe from deadly gun violence.

This is the sort of do-nothing-while-pretending-to-do-something about gun violence approach that is exactly

what you get when you have a governor who knows the tide is turning on gun safety laws,

but is too scared of the NRA to actually do anything about it.

So he doesn't have the courage to take a stand against the NRA, even for the sake of

our children's lives.

If you want to talk with him about his cowardice on gun safety issues, feel free to give him

a ring at: (608) 266-1212

Thank you very much for tuning in, this is Wednesday and that's what's up!

Man Trying To Help Dog Wandering Alone Freezes After Looking At His Tags - Duration: 5:25.

animals can't communicate with us through words so it's pretty easy to

misinterpret even their basic needs for example the dogs women might mean that

he has to go outside but it could also just signify that he's craving a bite of

your dinner circumstances you think our Dyer could be something else entirely

that's what happened to one man when he spotted a dog wandering around a gas

station the pooch looked horribly lost and the man grew concerned but when he

finally got close enough in an effort to help the dog showed him something that

proved things were not all that they seemed when Tyler Wilson spotted a lost

dog at a gas station near his home in Kentucky he was understandably concerned

a gas station is a highly trafficked area and no place for a pooch the dog

was clearly on his own - was he hurt lost Tyler actually first saw the dog

who appeared to be a yellow Labrador wandering around town a few days earlier

and he was really curious about this situation why on earth was this pooch

roaming around town and did he need help deciding that something had to be done

to bring this lost dog to safety Tyler snapped a couple of photographs on the

sly he was worried that the animal would be skittish and shy in his presence so

he kept his distance Tyler decided he should try to make

physical contact with the Labrador so he could get Tim to a safe place

still he was relieved to have the photographs his backup just in case the

dog became scared of him and suddenly ran off at that moment the dog did

something unexpected that simply stunned Tyler he trotted right over to him tail

wagging and ready for belly rubs if this dog was lost he clearly didn't mind

while did he act like he didn't have a care in the world if his owners were

nowhere in sight that was when Tyler spotted a tag on the dog's collar he

decided to take a look perhaps he'd find a phone number or the address of the

dog's owner but what he saw instead changed everything rather than an

address the tag had a simple message and it was unlike anything Tyler had seen

before it's red my name is new I am NOT lost

I like to roam tell me to go home clearly it wasn't the first time this

dog had taken to the streets Tyler couldn't help but smile and he warmly

introduced himself to you who looked as content as ever in making a new friend

after a few moments of bonding with the dog they parted ways

Tyler intrigued by do story did a little research once he got home it turned out

that he was something of a celebrity in Tyler's tiny Kentucky town and he had

his own social media presence to prove it as his name tag implied this was a

dog who loved to roam the land making new friends and warming hearts as he

went at the end of the day however there was just one place he called home when

Tyler clicked through the photos on dus Facebook page he saw what he charmed

life the dog led do you actually live with his adoring family on a sprawling

70 acre farm in the area when he was just a puppy he demonstrated a passion

for escaping from his home and going on epic adventures at first his family was

worried but soon they discovered that it was just his curious nature they let you

roam as much as he wanted to at the end of the day he always came back home his

mom Mandy always knew she'd see him soon do you gathered such a following over

time that he actually had his very own Facebook page where his fans could

follow him on all of his adventures he became somewhat of a local celebrity for

all the people he'd meet on his adventures it wasn't just humans that he

loved hanging out with either he couldn't get enough of other pups you

loved spending time with his sister Lilly a black Labrador who preferred to

hold down the fort back on their farm still even a dog as energetic and

curious as you needed to take a break from time to time you wasn't picky about

where he rested his weary head he specially loved to cuddle up on the

couch for nap time but he was willing to s to creature

comforts in a pinch too he made sure to take advantage of this drying umbrella

and catch an adorable cat nap there was no other dog out there who loved

adventure quite the way you did everywhere he went he practically

radiated happiness and joy he simply loved being outdoors but for as much as

do love to spend outside he loved the company of people

especially his humans even more man day her husband and her son all cherished

their Roman couch in kind for you every day held some new adventure or

excitement even when he was dreaming you could tell that this dog was probably

scheming about his next trip out on the town from the cat to the kids

she was always content to cuddle up with his own tribe and rest up for the next

great outing he might have led an unconventional life but it suited this

unconventional dog just fine what an adorable pup it's so great that his

family was able to let him roam and see the sights I hope you like this video
