Charles-Michel de l'Epée
founded the first deaf public school in France.
He created a very systematic method to teach the deaf.
He went to settle in Paris and
decided to work for the poor and helping them.
Earlier Charles studied theology and law.
Theology is the study of the nature of God and religious belief.
In Paris, two deaf sisters talking with the help of signs
caught his attention and he realised that
a language created for the deaf would help them communicate better.
He created the first sign alphabets for the deaf.
This idea helped change so many lives
and has helped the deaf be more involved
in the society.
On his 306th birthday, Google created a Doodle
to clear people doubts about the deaf.
The school he created was entirely with his own money
He never accepted money from anyone else.
The french government later called him
"Benefactor of Humanity"
and declared the rights of deaf people.

5 Easy Ways to Get Cash for Your Clutter - Duration: 8:19.
Where can I get money for gently used clothes that we cleaned out of our closets
that we're no longer using?
That's a good question and we're going to talk about that today.
Hi there, I'm Angela Brown and this is Ask A House Cleaner.
This is a show where you get to ask a house cleaning question
and I get to help you find an answer.
Now today's show is brought to us by Savvy Perks.
Savvy Perks is a perks program for small business owners.
So if you run a house cleaning company, or if you run an Airbnb, or if you are a service
provider that services the home it could be you're a landscaper, or a lawn maintenance
person, you could be a sprinkler, or irrigation guy, or a house painter, maybe you're an HVAC guy.
These are small business owners that can benefit from Savvy Perks.
These are things like eating out, for example there are thousands of restaurants that are
in the network and they offer a buy one get one free deal.
And sometimes they offer a buy one drink get one free, or they offer a free drink with
your meal, or a free dessert with your meal.
Every restaurant has a different deal, bonus, incentive whatever for small business owners.
So if you are a small business owner, you're leaving money on the table if you're paying
full price every time you go out for lunch.
And I know for a lot of home service providers that travel, that's every single day, we eat
lunch every single day out on the road.
And Savvy Perks also includes hundreds of famous fast food chains that you know and
love and eat at every day.
So instead of paying full price, go get the savings because the savings are in addition
to everything that you're already seeing on sale.
So just take advantage, it's SavvyPerks.com
All right on to today's question, which is from a homeowner who took our advice and did
some decluttering and organizing, and she went through all of her closets and she pulled
out all of the clothes that no one in the family is wearing anymore and the family has
gone through this massive weight loss program.
So a lot of the clothes are new, or in new condition, and they're not wearing them, and
they will never wear them because they don't ever want to ever get back to that size.
So she wants to know where can I sell my clothes?
Okay, well selling your clothes is a fun thing because that means you're getting rid of it,
and you're going to earn some money at the same time.
So I want to ask you, do you know about Facebook Marketplace?
If you don't, you may want to check it out.
You can just simply type in the search bar of Facebook, Facebook Marketplace.
And what it does is it pops up because it knows where you are via GPS.
It pulls up all of the local deals near where you are.
And they could be home and garden, they could be clothing, it could be people sell cars
on there.
So it's all kinds of stuff.
Today on there I saw a free washing machine, and somebody is giving away a free bed with
box springs and a mattress.
Someone else is giving away free chairs that they just don't need or want anymore.
And then there are people selling things.
So it's a great place to find things that you may need, but also to sell things that
you're getting rid off like your clothes.
Now in my area where I live, and I live in Charlotte, North Carolina, there's a consignment
store and it's a chain of consignment stores, and you take your clothing in there, or it
could even be your household items, they do furniture as well.
So you take things that you no longer want and you say,
"hey, would you buy this from me?"
And they say well we won't give you money now, but what we'll do is we'll hang onto
it for 90 days, and if after 60 days we haven't sold it, we're going to send you a note and
say do you want us to keep it a little longer, or do you want us to go ahead and reduce the price?
So we'll set it at this price for 60 days and if it doesn't sell then we'll ask you
to reduce the price for the last 90 days.
If at 90 days the product hasn't sold, we're going to ask you to come pick it up or we're
going to throw it away.
So that's the agreement that you have, you do not get any money up-front, but they do
all the selling, and they put your clothing inside their stores.
And then when people come and buy, you get a percentage of whatever it is.
And the percentage is usually around 60 or 70% because the consignment store also has
to make money.
So that's a great way where you don't have to do anything other than drive your stuff
over there and drop it off.
Now, there are consignment stores that will come to your house and they will pick up your
stuff, and they will also pick up used furniture.
So if you have someone coming over I recommend running through your house and saying what
furniture am I not using?
Do I have any extra chairs or extra hand me down items from grandparents that I've inherited
that I never wanted and I don't use and they're taking up space in my house?
And put them away on consignment and let someone else sell them.
Now if you're great at selling and you know how to wordsmith an ad then what I might recommend
is eBay. eBay is still of the largest popular auction and selling sites.
I remember finding out about eBay about 22 years ago and I was so excited.
I was like you mean I can buy stuff at a discounted rate just by bidding on it?
And I fell in love with eBay, I'm a huge eBay fan.
So if you have the time, and this is going to be the catch, if you have the time to sell
the stuff because if you have a crappy ad nobody is going to buy your stuff and that's
going to be a waste of time and a waste of money, but if you know how to write an ad
and you're great at taking pictures of your stuff you can put together some spectacular
ads and then because eBay is based on ratings and reviews, you want to make sure that you
have great communication with your customers and that you follow up and that you ship stuff
quickly and you send them confirmations of the shipping and that you invite them to leave
you a rating and review.
So it's a great way to get rid of a bunch of stuff that you no longer need or want.
Then there's nextdoor.com and I'm a huge fan of Nextdoor.
It's a neighborhood app, and it's designed where you type in your neighborhood and it
alerts your neighbors of things that are going on.
So people sometimes will say well I have a lost dog, or I have a lost cat, there are
people that are in search of items and the items might be I'm looking for a used violin
for my youngster that's going to school and is going to be studying violin this year.
And then people will say, oh I have one, I can sell it to you for 25 bucks, or whatever.
So there are people that do all kinds of deals on Nextdoor.com, and it's a great place to
take pictures of your stuff and to sell them on Nextdoor.
I know lots of my neighbors sell lots of their used stuff on Nextdoor.com,
you can also give stuff away for free.
So I just went through my closets and I got rid of a bunch of stuff and I had to ask myself
this question, do I have time right now to create eBay ads?
Do I have time to create Nextdoor ads?
A lot of the stuff I have is pretty good, but I don't have the time and it's not worth
it to me to even pay somebody else to create ads and sell the stuff and pack it up and
ship it and do all that stuff right now, that's not where I am in my life.
So I decided instead to donate it.
So I just donated it, I took it all in the car and I just donated it.
And now I'm done with it, it's gone, it's free from my life and someone else can sell
it in their thrift store.
So there are other ways of getting rid of the stuff.
So it's going to come down to the available time that you have,
are you any good at writing ads?
Because if you're not, it's going to be a waste of time if you try to sell stuff and
it doesn't sell.
And then try the consignment stores because the consignment stores will just take it from
you if it's of value to them and they think they can sell it.
And then at the end they will give you a fee back for whatever they're sold.
So those are a couple of options to get you started, but I'm so excited that you went
through your closets and you got rid of all the stuff that you have decided
you no longer need.
And I'm absolutely thrilled that you guys have lost the weight and you've made the commitment
to live a healthier life because when you take care of yourself, you can take care of
everyone in your household and your business even better, so congrats on that.
And I'm so thrilled that you're getting rid of those clothes that no longer represent
that part of you.
AlL righty, til we meet again,
leave the world a cleaner place than when you found it.

The impressive stat which highlights how clinical Aubameyang has been at Arsenal - Duration: 2:44.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may dip in and out of games, but his Arsenal scoring record can't be questioned
The Gabon international arrived at the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window from Borussia Dortmund and marked his debut with a goal in the 5-1 thrashing of Everton in the Premier League
From there has goals haven't stopped coming. He finished last season with 10 goals from 13 appearances in the top flight of English football - prompting supporters to wonder how different Arsene Wenger's final term as manager would have been had Aubameyang arrived six months earlier
Having featured for Dortmund in Europe during the first-half of the 2017/2018 campaign, the 29-year-old was ineligible for the Gunners' Europa League campaign
That's not the case this season and Aubameyang netted twice in the 4-2 win over FC Vorskla on matchday one a couple of months ago
Those were his third and fourth goals of the campaign, a total which now stands at 10 after his winner against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon
Stretching to get a toe on Sead Kolasinac's cross to end his four-game drought, Aubameyang brought up his 20th goal across all competitions for the north London outfit in just his 31st appearance
What is most impressive about the stat is when it's compared to how long it took Thierry Henry and Ian Wright - the club's most prolific goalscorers - to reach that total
As pointed out by AFC Gally on Twitter, it took both players 40 games to score 20 goals for the Arsenal
Of course Henry and Wright went on to win trophies with the Gunners, not to mention breaking a number of records along the way and are still very much revered amongst supporters
Aubameyang probably doesn't have enough time on his side to emulate the club legends in terms of overall goals, but the company he's keeping certainly bodes well in the immediate future

'As you sow so shall you reap'
King Vikramaditya, I've heard that you're very learned...
...intelligent and a clever person.
But, you're silently carrying me on your shoulders like a fool.
I'll tell you a story.
Uday Bhanu was the king of Champanagari.
Uday Bhanu was a religious king under whose rule...
...the residents of Champanagari lived happily.
King Uday Bhanu had two sons.
Chandra Bhanu was his elder son and Chitra Bhanu the younger son.
The old king called his sons one day and said...
Sons, listen to me.
I've aged and I don't keep well.
You're grown up and capable of handling the royal responsibilities.
So I would like to retire now.
No, father. That's impossible.
The subjects of our kingdom are used to see you as the king.
They are happy under your rule.
If you retire all of a sudden then... - Stop!
Father, you've aged.
You must rest now.
Don't worry.
We'll run the kingdom well. - Okay, son.
I feel relaxed now.
I'll leave for the forest tomorrow.
Take care. Help each other.
Of course. Don't worry.
My younger brother is very close to my heart.
We'll always be together.
After handing over the royal responsibilities to the brothers...
...the king left for the forest.
But elder Chandra Bhanu had other thoughts.
He was very ruthless and selfish.
In the absence of his father...
...he cunningly send his younger brother away.
That portion of our kingdom is a desert.
Hardly any people live there.
It's not easy for me to run such a huge kingdom alone.
I'm elder to you.
Obviously I'm more experienced than you.
So, I'll be in-charge of the densely populated areas.
Since you're less experienced you'll be in-charge of the desert.
Chitra Bhanu obeyed his elder brother and went away...
...to look after the desert areas that were sparsely populated.
After leaving the palace he reached the vast desert in disguise.
Oh no! There's only sand everywhere.
There's no sign of humans around.
But, I'm helpless.
I've to stay here now.
In the absence of their father the elder brother Chandra Bhanu sent...
...the younger brother away and occupied the throne.
Chita Bhanu started living alone...
...in a small hut in the desert.
On the other side of the desert was the kingdom of Sinhala.
The magical powers of a witch there made the people weak and deformed.
The princes was held captive by the witch.
The helpless king therefore said...
Chief minister, make an announcement that...
...the person who can save our kingdom from the witch...
...and set the princess free from her captivity...
...will be married to the princess...
...and will be given half of Sinhala kingdom.
Your Majesty, the king of our neighboring kingdom Sinhala...
...has sent a messenger. - For what?
Okay. Send him in. - Okay, Your Majesty.
Greetings, Your Majesty.
What? So, this is the problem.
I'll go and save Sinhala from the clutches of the witch.
I'll bring the princes back.
I'll get half of the kingdom.
I'll get married to the princess.
Call the royal doctor.
Greetings, Your Majesty.
Make a medicine...
...that'll make the weak and deformed people of Sinhala strong...
...and help them get back into shape.
Your Majesty, I can't do it quickly.
It's going to be tough.
It'll take time, Your Majesty.
I don't want to hear any excuses.
I want the medicine tomorrow.
Seek help of all the doctors you know.
If needed seek help of our neighboring kingdoms.
I want the medicine tomorrow. You may go now.
The royal doctor stayed up whole night...
...with all the doctors from their kingdom and the neighboring kingdoms...
...and prepared the medicine.
Your Majesty, the medicine is ready.
Is the medicine ready?
Chief minister, make arrangements for my travel.
I'll travel to Sinhala today.
Your Majesty, we've to cross the desert to reach Sinhala quickly.
Sinhala is on the other side of the desert.
Okay. Hurry up. let's go.
King Chandra Bhanu took the desert path to reach Sinhala.
Oh god! It's so hot here.
How far is Sinhala from here?
It's so tough to cross the desert.
Hurry up. move faster.
Son, where are you going?
Why do you want to know?
Move. Let me go.
Son, I'm very hungry.
It would be very kind of you if you could give me some food.
I don't have anything.
Go from here.
I'm getting late. Let me go.
I'm sure that you've food in the box.
Please give me some food, son.
God will bless you.
I can't starve anymore.
Oh no! What a problem!
There's nothing in the box except snakes and frogs.
Go away. Don't disturb me.
Okay. Take away whatever you've just mentioned.
Take away whatever you mentioned.
She wasted my time.
Hurry up. let's go.
After crossing the huge desert land king Chandra Bhanu reached Sinhala.
Greetings. - Welcome, king Chandra Bhanu.
Your Majesty, I've brought a medicine...
...that'll make your subjects strong and healthy.
They'll get back into their old forms.
Wonderful!
Wonderful!
Where is it? Please give them the medicine.
Save my subjects.
I'll always remain indebted to you.
I'll cure them immediately.
Take a look.
What's this?
What's this?
You've come to make fun of my problems?
You've brought snakes, frogs and leaves in this box.
Get out from here.
I was never insulted like this.
How did this happen?
How dare the royal doctor play this prank on me?
I'll go back and arrest him.
Charioteer, go back immediately .
The news of Sinhala reached Chitra Bhanu too.
He started thinking...
Sinhala is in great problem .
I wish I could help them.
But... what can I do?
I'm helpless.
Somebody is crying.
There she is. An old woman is crying.
Let me go and check what happened.
What happened, mother? Why are you crying?
I'm very hungry.
I'll be very thankful if I could get some food and water.
Oh! You're hungry.
Come with me. Come to my house.
I feel better now.
I've got back my life.
Who are you, my son?
What are you doing in this desert?
I'm Chitra Bhanu the youngest son of the king of Champanagar.
I've come here as the king of this desert that falls under Champanagar.
King of this desert?
Is your father ruling Champanagar with his eldest son?
No. Father left the kingdom under our care before leaving for forest.
My elder brother ordered me to come here after dividing the kingdom.
I understand.
Your elder brother has cheated you since you're innocent.
I bless you.
No, don't bless me.
Bless the people of Sinhala.
They're in great pain.
The black magic of a witch has made them weak and deformed.
Okay. Take this.
What's this?
What will I do with this ring?
Open the lid on the ring after you reach Sinhala.
The smoke that comes out of it will fill up Sinhala.
Gradually, the people will get cured and get back to their old forms.
Thank you, mother.
I'll leave for Sinhala immediately. Bye.
Chitra Bhanu started his journey to Sinhala...
...with the ring given by the old woman.
He crossed the hot desert and finally reached Sinhala after a tough journey.
Welcome, Chitra Bhanu.
Your Majesty, I've a remedy to cure your subjects.
What is it?
Your Majesty, once you open the lid on this ring...
...a smoke will fill up Sinhala.
It'll cure your subjects and get back their old forms.
Really? Let's not waste any time.
Open the lid on the ring.
Come with me.
What's this? I've got back my old form.
It's a miracle!
Look, I've got back my old form.
Look at me.
I'm so happy.
We've got back our old forms.
It's a miracle!
You've saved my kingdom, prince.
Thank you, prince. Thank you.
But what about my daughter?
What has happened to the princess?
The witch who was responsible for the suffering of my subjects...
...has abducted my daughter and held her captive.
Where has the witch taken the princess?
The witch lives in a cave in the Bhima hills.
She has held her captive over there.
Don't worry, Your Majesty.
I'll go immediately to set the princess free.
Chitra Bhanu went to Bhima hills to set the princes free from captivity.
Help! Help me!
A honeybee is stuck in a spider-web.
Please save me or the spider will come and eat me.
Please help me come out of this web.
Yes. I'll help you .
Here you go.
Thank you.
You saved my life.
Goodbye, my friend.
Oh god! Finally I've reached.
I can see a cave there.
I'm sure that the witch lives there...
...and has held the princess captive there.
Leave me. please leave me.
Set me free. Let me go back to my father.
Not so easily, princess.
I can make you short like others.
But no, I won't do that...
...because I'll enter your beautiful young body...
...and become young once again.
No. Please set me free.
Please set me free.
Oh! So this is the matter.
This is the reason why the witch has held the princess captive.
Evil witch!
Set the princess immediately or I'll kill you.
Are you the army chief of Sinhala?
Where is your army?
I've made your soldiers short and weak.
They can't even walk properly.
How will they come here?
But, how did you reach here?
I forgot to shorten you.
I'll do it right now.
What's this?
Help!
Help!
Oh god! Help!
Friend, kill the witch with your sword.
How did you come here?
Friend, you helped and saved me when I was in danger.
Why will I not help you when you're in danger?
Don't waste time. Hurry up.
Kill the witch. - Yes!
Come with me, princess. I'll take you back to your father.
I'll take your leave now. Goodbye.
Your majesty, here is your daughter.
Father!
I'll take your leave now, Your Majesty. - Wait.
You saved my kingdom, brought my daughter back.
How can I let you go back empty-handed?
Half of the kingdom of Sinhala is yours from today.
I want to marry my only daughter to you.
Your Majesty, this is not right.
The king of Sinhala didn't take the right decision.
Chitra Bhanu could've never killed the witch without the help of the bees.
Why did the king reward him with half of his kingdom and...
...married him to the princess?
Betal, Chitra Bhanu was an honest man.
He was a benevolent king.
He always goes forward to help anybody in need.
The person who goes ahead to help people in need...
...will definitely be helped by others when he's in problem.
It's the law of nature.
The same has happened in his case.
He helped the old woman and got the magical ring in return.
He didn't use the ring for himself.
Later on he helped the queen bee.
In return he was helped by the bees when he was fighting the witch.
Therefore, Sinhala King took the right decision.
Your Majesty, you've given the right answer.
As per our agreement I'm going.
