Sir William Henry Perkin Google Doodle - Duration: 1:26.
Search Engine Google is showing a Doodle about Sir William Henry Perkin.
Today it is the 180th Birthday of Sir William Henry Perkin.
Sir William Henry Perkin, FRS was born on 12th March 1838 and died on 14th July 1907.
He was a British chemist best known for his accidental discovery of the first aniline
dye: the purple mauveine.
Though failing in trying to synthesise quinine for the treatment of malaria, he became successful
in the field of dyes after his discovery at the age of 18.
William Perkin was born in the East End of London, the youngest of the seven children
of George Perkin, a successful carpenter.
His mother, Sarah, was of Scottish descent but moved to east London as a child.
He was baptised in the parish church of St Paul's, Shadwell, which had been connected
to such luminaries as James Cook, Jane Randolph Jefferson (mother of Thomas Jefferson) and
John Wesley.
At the age of 14, Perkin attended the City of London School, where he was taught by Thomas
Hall, who fostered his scientific talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in chemistry.
In 1853, at the precocious age of 15, Perkin entered the Royal College of Chemistry in
London (now part of Imperial College London), where he began his studies under August Wilhelm
von Hofmann.

Sir William Henry Perkin , Sir William Henry Perkin Google Doodle - Duration: 1:36.
The Search Engine Google is celebrating Sir William Henry Perkin.
He was Born in England on March 12th, 1838, chemist Sir William Henry Perkin accidentally
discovered "mauveine," the first synthetic dye.
Sir William Henry Perkin's 180th Birthday is celebrated today.
As an 18-year-old laboratory assistant, Perkin was cleaning out dark muck from a beaker after
a failed experiment, when he noticed that the substance left a vivid purple stain when
diluted with alcohol.
Following his discovery, he focused on the patenting, manufacturing, and commercialization
of this purple dye, which he named "mauveine."
Perkin's timing was remarkable as the textile industry was at a high.
Purple clothing was very much in style, but prohibitively expensive for most, not to mention
quick to fade.
Perkin's strong and inexpensively produced mauveine finally made this once-exclusive
color readily accessible, igniting a violet fashion frenzy - as seen in today's Doodle
by UK-based illustrator Sonny Ross.
Even Queen Victoria herself wore a mauveine-dyed gown to the Royal Exhibition of 1862!
Wealthy and successful from his stint in manufacturing, Perkin eventually returned to laboratory research.
He was even knighted in 1906, on the 50th anniversary of his serendipitous discovery.
Happy 180th birthday, Sir William Henry Perkin!

Longest Abandoned Railroad Bridge in the World - Duration: 15:34.
okay guys and then here you have one section of the 7 Mile bridge, they're
currently I guess renovating it and painting it
basically trying to bring it back to life, yeah because pieces were falling off and
yeah hopefully they'll take care of it because it's about 100 something year
old structure
and then I'm driving on the new one which is this one which was built I think
1982 just like me and then that's the old one, the one trains went one.
Yeah, used to be. It was built like in the nineteen hundreds and it was used up
until 1935 the labor day hurricane destroyed it and then after
that it was a car bridge until 82 or so then they built this one
so yeah this goes on for 7 miles
right here coming up ahead you're gonna see a pigeon key which they told
me got destroyed by hurricane Irma as well yes and we will see the side
effects of Irma coming up shortly
You should've been here a little while back after it hit. It was a disaster.
okay so yeah this is pigeon key over here sorry I'm trying to film & drive
here. It's not that easy but uh yeah well I think it was just like tree damage but
the those few buildings torn down but they repaired it yeah you see the repair
yeah the roofs are all like...
you're literally the houses are they're collapsing in the house right
there's collapsed in
wow, okay
used to be able to drive
now you can't
get take a boat. Yeah that was originally built for other the labors of the
railroad way back one and then it just became like a tourist spot.
Oh and then
so we're gonna be crossing like the channel here the Moser channel I
think it is and there's an open span right there in the middle that's where
this bridge used to open way back when it used to be a swing bridge
yeah they filmed True lies with the Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis the
ridge yeah that's really the limo fall off the bridge right there
that is where the bridge used to draw a drawbridge
and you gotta love those turquoise waters there
Maybe you can see a mermaid ha ha.
yes we are following Millenniumforce, yes we are look
Millenniumforce is right here and I'm one of his crew mates, crazy Redneck woman.
oh there's one of the islands that you can go and actually party on
Those are one of the islands that you can go in boat
Looks like the party is not going to be there
yeah no, probably not after Irma. But I think those signs over there say caution
danger falling debris yes for boaters so they don't get hurt.
there's gonna be several of them down here.
and it's funny because like you guys are gonna see right now it's steel but in a
few hundred feet I can already see it's concrete over there it's like a aqueduct
kind of architecture so I think Henry Flagler might have ran out of steel and
then had to use concrete
oh I was once on a Florida Keys locals website and there saw some sting
not someone some there's a local celebrity named Freddy, Freddy is
actually the name of that pine tree which has been growing on the 7 Mile
bridge there for years, that's Freddy? yeah that's Freddy and it survived a
hurricane Irma so I'm glad to see Freddy survived Hurricane Irma. There's Freddy right there.
So that's Freddy? Yeah.
I've known Freddy since he was like a year old again guys I apologize
if the filming isn't stable you know I'm driving and filming
take a picture
Freddy say cheese
there's Freddy still green looks like he's well fed that's like a miracle in
nature how the hell did that pine tree in the middle of nowhere grow right oh
and then here you can see that all the railings were made of the old rail
from the railroad hence, railing. And then here you can see where the steel ran out
and they began using concrete
okay I'm gonna have my right arm like Popeye from holding this camera up all this time
toot toot
Oh there's one of the islands
Look at that island, it's destroyed!
yeah
trees all down everything yeah it looks scary it's
like something out of a horror movie look at that oh my god
and then her, looks like somebody was gonna camp there tonight
this is the last part of the 7 Mile bridge this was cut off here so I guess no
pedestrians would attempt to walk on it as I was going to do not but I guess now
I'm not gonna do and then this part here is used for a fishing you can see that
they place the garbage bins every so often
oh look at another Island there's house on it
that's actually a
but believe it or not some of these islands are private
islands and their own like you can purchase these islands I think those are
reality show yeah so it's not destroyed well yes you can't actually go on these
islands and vacation home you gotta catch the low tide that's what every key
person will say you gotta hit the low tide you can see, I'm going to include a Google Maps
you can see little duck key that the sign was torn off manipulated yeah
by Irma I'm going to give you a hands-on view of the seven mile
bridge my friend yay yippee here you are following Millennium Force crazy redneck
woman damn parking here's a bit scarce but
A parking spot
ok
okay so then we park
they got a rental
they got a rental
oh yeah because
no smoking sign
sorry about that
ok
the RailROL82 mobile as you guys know
so this here is Florida Bay you can see these trees are, this tree here was
uprooted because of Hurricane Irma
and
Florida Bay
Millenniumforce!
And then this here is US 1
What car to what place?
The train car, oh yeah.
Yeah it was ugly looking
that look familiar but that can't be the car.
yeah I was going try to get.... I'm sure if it's low tide you can walk that way
okay guys so this here is US 1
Facing South
west facing northeast
You see Florida Bay over here, a variation of colors. Those colors are
You see the dark spots are grass
Look at the different shades of blue
involves the depth of the water like usually turquoise isn't very deep
once you start getting into like the dark blue that's very
deep water you see like Marlins and the big-game fishing and things like that
so then
I will pan over to sign as it says seven mile bridge
and they call it that because obviously this bridges seven miles long
this was that twisted sign I showed you guys when we were driving up here
you see some of the species of fish you can catch from here
My favorite is that one
yellow tail snapper
deep fried
m hmm
so then over here I'm going to show you the old & new once again
new one to my
my old one SORRY new one to my right, old one to my left
ha ha ha
Oh guys and here you can see that island over there. it has a house in it
possibly affected by all Hurricane Irma
What is it?
yeah that was the original bridge
it was sawed off
This is Florida bay
and that would be the Atlantic ocean on that side.
So yeah guys Please subscribe or like thank you for viewing over and out

Use a Palette Knife with Watercolors - Duration: 13:28.
Hi this is Annamoon,
Today I wanted to paint a few trees with watercolors.
With a palette knife and a scriptliner brush.
The paper is Arches cold pressed
and the colors are Ultramarine Blue and Indigo from Schmincke Horadam.
I wet the paper with two spays out of a water bottle.
I found out that it is better to paint the trees from outside to inside.
I'll let you enjoy the rest of the video with some music now.
See you next time with a new rock painting tutorial.

Nostradamus 2018 predictions World War three and disaster but survivors could
live to 200 Nostradamus predictions for 2018 have foretold one of the worst
years in global history with a string of natural disasters the fall of the
economy and the start of World War three French prophet Nostradamus is believed
by some to have accurately predicted the rise of Napoleon and Hitler in the 911
Twin Towers attacks many researchers of the infamous profit who died in 1566 are
also convinced he has correctly foretold the current barbaric acts being
committed by is is in the Middle East including its bid to capture areas of
Europe to fulfill its Caliphate now people are looking at what his writings
could foretell about 2018 Alessandro Bruno wrote on Lombardi letter calm the
Nostradamus predictions for 2018 are dire as they include what might become
World War 3 the Nostradamus ww3 predictions have gained traction because
so many people feel helpless they sense that the world is beyond their control
and they feel that difficult times are ahead beyond the individual Nostradamus
future predictions 2018 there is a common theme negative energy will
intensify and accelerate with unprecedented intensity and speed world
war 3 News has become current again that's because most people are ignoring
the fact that Russia and the United States have resumed a level of tension
not seen since almost 30 years ago instead of diffusing it senators and
congressional representatives in Washington are fueling the risks 2018
predictions one world war three the most chilling prediction for 2018 is from
Nostradamus book labor feeties it includes a quatrain that some have
interpreted as describing the start of the third world war
Nostradamus said the big war will start in France and all Europe will be
attacked it will be long and terrifying for everyone and then finally there will
be peace but only a few will enjoy it a war will start between the two great
world powers and it will last for a period of 27 years some commentators
have predicted China Russia and North Korea will unite to take on the US two
major eruption of Mount Vesuvius the Italian volcano will shake the earth
every five minutes and at least 6,000 people will be killed according to the
prophecy in early 2016 more than 1.5 million people were warned they are were
living in the danger zone of the supervolcano which it was said could go
off any time causing a global catastrophe half of the 3 million people
living in Naples were told they live within a new yellow danger zone of the
Vesuvius supervolcano the infamous peak which was responsible for the historic
destruction of Pompeii in 79 ad point 3 terrible earthquake
Nostradamus appears to have predicted natural disaster across the United
States he wrote an quake shall concern particularly the
western area of the United States its power shall be felt in lands throughout
the globe worryingly the US Geological Survey USGS carefully monitors seismic
activity in the Cascadia subduction zone where there were a series of medium
tremors in 2016 and two fault lines in California including San Andreas
scientists say both the California fault lines in the Cascadia subduction zone
are long overdue a major earthquake of magnitude 8 or above they have revealed
the Cascadia subduction zone is of most concern it runs about 60 miles offshore
along the Pacific coast from Northern California to Vancouver Island so major
cities including Portland Seattle and Vancouver are within it's tsunami range
threatening millions of people and major infrastructure for comet or asteroid
strike a major asteroid strike is expected as Nostradamus has been
interpreted as saying for 2018 a moment of great violence will coincide with the
appearance of a comet in the sky a nuclear terrorism and natural
catastrophes will destroy our planet while it is accepted an asteroid or
comet will one day threaten earth nASA says it knows of no major one that
threatens is for at least 100 years five economic collapse
Nostradamus said the rich would die many times over
taken by many to mean the global economic collapse as a result of ww3 and
the effects of many natural disasters six humans will live to be over 200 with
so much doom and gloom predicted this seems as unlikely one
however Nostradamus predicted the advancements of medicine will raise
humans life expectancy up to at least 200 years of age it has been interpreted
as meaning towards the end of 2018 an 80 year old person will resemble a 50 year
old dot other predictions for 2018 include humans will become able speak to
animals people who want to have children will require a license or permit
language differences will disappear wildfires from global warming but on the
plus size there will be an end of taxes in the West however according to ancient
code dot-com which looks at such prophecies the interpretations have to
be taken with a pinch of salt as similar ones were made for 2017 it said in an
article but what does Nostradamus say about 2018 Nostradamus quatrains
described a level of destruction more gruesome than anything he had predicted
earlier according to these reports Nostradamus saw terrible events
happening in 2018 although similar things were said about 2017 consider
these predictions with caution but many of these warnings with a few detail
changes could certainly apply to the modern world for the skeptics among whom
I include myself there are doubtless some ominous sounding Nostradamus
predictions from the past to generate concern sceptics also point out that
there have been many earlier interpretations of other Nostradamus
quatrains which said ww3 would begin around 1999 . this problem with dates
has led some Nostradamus researchers to conclude we are already in a world world
3 which somehow started in 1999 and should therefore come to an horrific
conclusion probably involving nuclear weapons in 2026 after the 27 years ends
Nostradamus is also claimed by some to have correctly predicted the Twin Towers
attacks of 9/11 swith the line the year 1999 seven months from the sky will come
the great king of terror prompting bin Laden Strief holder of the third
antichrist title but it was actually around two years out skeptics of
Nostradamus point out that at least 50% err of his premonitions were so way off
that even the die-hard researchers leave them alone and of the 50% er that he is
said to have got right there are many that believe the vague terminology used
by the French prophet and so-called Nostradamus codes need a strong dose of
hindsight and imagination to prove the prophecy after the event one online
researcher wrote by using the same techniques as those who find miracles in
the Quran or Bible researchers have done the exact same thing with Nostradamus to
be clear I don't believe such nonsense since all Nostradamus did was write a
whole bunch of cryptic things and then let the reader use their imagination to
interpret verses to suit their own beliefs the verses can only be
understood once the event has already happened as hindsight

War Thunder: The Shooting Range | Episode 86 - Duration: 15:18.
In this episode…
The story of Vasily Golubief and his I-16;
Female pilots in the British Air Force;
Hotline: the developers answer questions that you've left in the comments!
But first, let's start with the ARL-44 and how it works!
One of the most significant machines of the French tank industry was the ARL-44.
It combined the most advanced solutions of the time,
though it never got to actually fight in the war.
Anyway, did the French engineers manage to create a decent alternative to the Tigers and IS'es?
Let's figure it out.
Today we take a look at the top variant of the ARL-44
An SPG at BR 5.7.
At first this tank seems very clumsy, but it's only a facade.
Sure, it looks huge and massive, but it has a very powerful engine.
It can speed you up to the maximum 37 kph in no time
and it won't lose the pace even offroad.
Of course, the reverse is much slower
Only 4 kph.
You also don't have any smoke shells or smoke grenades,
so you won't be able to hide behind the grey screen and fall back to safety.
As for the armour and durability, this coin has two sides.
One of them is — you've got great frontal armour, even with some extra reinforcements
Look at those instruments!
On the other side, the sides and the mantlet are very weak
The latter can be pierced by literally anyone from this BR.
What now, the engine is this tank's only advantage?!
Tough chance!
Look at this beauty — the 90mm SA-45 weapon
with two types of ammo and 10 seconds reload.
The APCs pierce 180mm from 500 meters which is pretty impressive!
But the best features of this gun are its ballistics and precision.
You might have noticed that we've mentioned the penetration rate for 500 meters instead of the usual 100.
Why?
Well, the ARL-44 can survive a close combat, that's true,
but its turret rotates pretty slowly and the armour isn't very durable,
so you'll be able to uncover its hidden potential precisely at longer distances.
Practice your aim, become a good sniper
and don't forget to change positions if starts firing back.somebody
In urban locations your task is controlling long streets and other open spaces.
Don't forget about the decorators!
You can't hide… well… all of you in the nearest trench.
What you can do is cover your mantlet or disguise yourself as the ARL-44
ACL-1, the little brother of this machine.
For the same reasons we don't recommend taking this SPG to capture points.
You can do that, but remember that your crew literally sits on a lot of explosive things.
One hit in the side and that's it.
A very loud it.
All in all, this SPG isn't for everybody to enjoy.
But if you like duelling at large distances, you'll love this machine.
And now let's talk about how one should strike back when facing fear…
From the first days of the war a Soviet fighter pilot Vasily Golubief
discovered an interesting thing about German pilots.
All their planes were equipped with gun cameras!
They documented every shot so that afterwards, they could count and prove all the aircraft they took down.
Another thing that Golubief found out about the Luftwaffe pilots,
was that they weren't very good at long and intensive dogfights and preferred running away,
if the threat was becoming too grave.
On the other hand, attacking from above, outnumbering the enemy, preferably a damaged one
that's where they were consistently successful — as anybody else would be, right?
Of course, there wasn't a lot chivalry in aerial combat after WWI.
Naturally, one of the main weapons of the German pilots was fear.
But Golubief was already preparing to strike back.
He got his chance on 12th March 1942, and he seized it.
The Jagdgeschwader 54 had just received the newest Friedrichs,
and its pilots had become annoying and active as never before.
The Soviet planes were in danger almost every flight!
That's why while flying with his squadron on a usual mission,
Golubief only pretended to attack the enemy, saving ammo and rockets.
He knew that the Green Hearts would be waiting on the way home…
And they were.
He saw a couple of hunters looking for their prey down below,
outside the anti-aircraft gun reach.
Then Golubief sent a signal to his wingman, telling him to stay back.
After that he lost some speed and flew forward rolling from one wing to the other,
making his I-16 look damaged.
Of course, the Germans picked him as target!
They boosted towards him, eager to get another frag to their credentials.
It was their final mistake.
Captain Golubief suddenly 'kicked the pedal to the metal' and twirled the aircraft practically on heels
facing his aircraft towards the enemy.
The attackers had only half a second left to realise that they were doomed.
It was impossible to escape the I-16 in a horizontal maneuver,
even on the newest Messerschmitt 109F.
Both German pilots opened fire, but it was too late.
Four SHKAS guns have already turned rottenführer Günther Bartling's aircraft into burning pieces.
Terrified, the other pilot, lieutenant Hermann Leiste tried to escape by going up
but that was exactly what Golubief was waiting for.
A wave of RS-82 rockets rushed towards the German aircraft
and the explosions completely ruined the elevating rudder.
After a couple of loops the plane crashed into the ground.
Nobody was afraid of the Messerschmitts anymore.
A year later, at the beginning of 1943, Vasily Golubief did it again.
He shot down two of the newest Fokke-Wulf 190A-4 in his I-16.
At the time, the Luftwaffe started actively using these planes against the Royal Air Force,
and frightened the British pilots a great deal.
The news about a Soviet ace grounding two of those on an aircraft used in the Spanish Civil War
gave them so much courage, that major Golubief was awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
At the same time Golubief's squadron received new planes — the La-5.
Those could be used for a lot of great deeds…
but it's a whole different story.
And now it's time for a special Pages of History episode in honor of the international women's day.
Last year, we were talking about female pilots in the U.S., now let's return to Britain…
A woman? In a pilot's seat? This is outrageous!
By the beginning of the War the British state of mind was still pretty much Victorian,
and a single thought about a female pilot was considered an abomination.
Even special aviation papers were printing articles saying,
that women are not qualified or even smart enough to fly anything at all.
But these words couldn't face reality anymore.
The Luftwaffe bombers were burning English towns to the ground,
and almost every man capable of piloting a plane was… already doing that.
As for the newly formed Air Transport Auxiliary civilian organization,
that was supposed to fly battle aircraft to their designated airfields,
its staff consisted of old and even crippled men.
There was no one else left to fly a plane.
Then, one of the few British female pilots, Pauline Gower, basically delivered an ultimatum to the government
demanding a creation of an all-female air squadron.
Okay, not in the actual RAF, let it be the civilian ATA.
The situation was hopeless, and the government could only say yes.
Still, women experienced all sorts of inappropriate jokes and overall bad treatment during the first weeks of service.
But then people suddenly realized, that… women were actually better pilots, than men!
They had better accident statistics.
Like, a lot better!
Moreover, there was another strange thing about women.
Usually, when a male pilot trained for the new aircraft,
he learned a lot of technical data and newly written instructions.
At the same time, female pilots relied on their intuition… and it seemed to work!
Young Joanne Hughes never flew anything more complicated than a training biplane in her life.
Yet, half a year onto service, even before she turned 20,
she learned to fly almost 50 types of British and American aircraft
including the enormous Short Stirling.
There were also sisters Yvonne and Joy who got so good with the Supermarine Spitfire,
that professional fighter pilots wouldn't dare doing a training combat flight against them
as they were too afraid to lose to some girls.
Dozens of years later, Joy Lofthouse embracing 93 years of her life
that same little Joy!
was given a chance to fly a Spitfire again.
And so she took the controls and… just took off!
There are a lot of stories about women in the ATA, we'll just say that during the years of war
they flew to the frontline on hundreds of thousands of planes of more than 150 models.
More than 20 of them died, flying in difficult weather conditions.
But the most important thing was, that this all-female squadron grew substantially,
as it was joined by women from occupied Poland, Czechoslovakia, France,Canada
Latin America, and even Australia!
Moreover, for the first time in UK history, women of this division were paid equally with men.
When the time came to disband the ATA, in December 1945
Nobody would think of saying that women couldn't fly.

Developers answering questions from the comments!
The first question was asked by a user called Taiga Clarke:
"Hey Gaijin, how did you get the armor values for the tanks being added that are still classified, like the Challenger One?
Do you get them from Steelbeasts or something like that or just make them up yourselves?"
Hi there. We absolutely do not make anything up.
Mostly if a tank is added to the game, it means, that there's enough declassified information to build on.
Also, we work with a lot of sources in different countries,
like museums, private collectors and sometimes even government organizations.
The second question comes from a player called NiCkLeS:
"Is the new World War game mode gonna come anytime soon or is it still in its early testing stages?"
Hi, mate! It's actually very close to being finished.
We've already announced another wave of tests that include single players
and not only complete squadrons.
If everything goes well, you'll get this new game mode before the end of the year.
GeccoMan Trains writes:
"Could I please have a BT-42 to annoy everyone and everything?"
Hey there! That would be a… maybe.
You might want to think about your reasons and justification next time.
And we'll think about that BT-42. How's that for a deal?
And the last serious question comes from Masch:
"What is the square root of russian bias?"
It's 3.14 Gulag plus 0.57 буты́лка of Stalinium.
Don't tell anyone, it's our secret formula!
That's it for today but feel free to write your questions in the comments below.
We do read them all, and you might see some of them answered in the next episode!
