I don't know that I'd be able to write

what I write without my Catholic faith and upbringing.

You just get seeped into such tradition

and you look around and there is kind

of beauty all around.

You're just looking for a deeper meaning in everything.

So, the flower is no longer just a flower.

You say well, God made this and why and how

and you're asking I think deeper questions.

It's a massive story to try and tell,

like how to bring Paul to the world

and I think we just kept seeing,

all these things kept, you know, from the script

to, you know, the way TJ was able to get it at Sony.

To kind of, like everything just kept falling

into place through our casting.

At times when it was like, oh, we're in big trouble,

you know, suddenly James Faulkner shows up.

That was amazing.

That was the clearest example.

I didn't play Paul.

He played me.

You know, normally you're fighting battles

here and there and, you know, protecting your corner

and dealing with quite difficult egos.

This has been a joy, just a joy.

What is Blockchain technology and what are the different uses? - Duration: 4:57.

What is blockchain?

Imagine it as a general ledger system.

It's kind of like something that is out there and publicly available that everybody can

see, but anonymous.

It's just the transactions that are being recorded publicly.

And in this general ledger, it's recording any form of transaction that occurs.

So up until now, the most popular transaction has been payments.

And specifically, people are very familiar with Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.

They are being recorded, the transactions that occur.

So if I'm sending you money from one wallet electronically to another online, that transaction

gets recorded in the blockchain.

Now, the computers that participate in the blockchain ... That's what we call all these

people who are doing mining.

Cryptocurrency mining, Bitcoin mining.

Why are they doing that?

By using distributed computers to verify and record the general ledger system into the

blockchain.

So we're recording these transactions in the global blockchain.

We are preventing anybody from gaming the system.

Now payments are a very interesting use of blockchain technology.

Now people say, "Well, why?

We've already got credit cards.

We've already got wire transfers.

We already have these kinds of things."

It's not centrally regulated or managed.

This is a global network number one.

Number two, think of all the people in countries that don't even have access to a bank.

For them, blockchain technology, specifically things like cryptocurrencies of Ethereum,

Litecoin, Bitcoin, is a great way for them to send payments within their community or

even outside, in a secure fashion.

And they can do it right from their mobile device.

Insurance.

Insurance is typically a trust management based system.

And if you could use blockchain technology, and it is already being developed on different

platforms, to be able to record and keep track of all the transactions that occur specific

to insurance.

That makes the system more efficient and transparent.

Supply chain and retail.

Fantastic application for when you're going to buy that widget, and you want to know exactly

where it's been, how it got manufactured, the parts that were involved in it.

Maybe even cut out the middle man.

Charity.

Many people are very uncomfortable with the notion of giving to certain charities, because

they simply don't know where their money is going.

Blockchain technology would publicly have a general ledger system that everybody can

access and view to see where exactly their contributions have gone, and whether any of

that money has been shaved off by administration and management fees or not.

I think that's a fascinating use of blockchain technology.

Real Estate.

Very paper intensive.

Keeping track of it for history.

Oil and gas rights, mortgages, land deeds.

Being able to keep track of that in a public general ledger system using blockchain technologies,

would be very efficient and very effective.

Health records.

Keeping track of your family and personal history.

Authentication.

Imagine not needing to keep track of all of those logins and passwords.

But instead, storing SSL encryption certificates right into the blockchain.

Intellectual property.

Proof of prototyping.

Proof of concept.

Keeping track of trademarks and patents.

This could make sure that you can indeed verify and prove that you were first.

Governance.

Think of all those business registrations.

Voting, keeping track of public records.

Royalty tracking for artists, when it comes to songs and photographs.

Cloud storage systems that are distributed and encrypted.

Imagine being able to use all of that available space sitting out there on the internet, throughout

all of the computers that are connected, but being able to use it in a cost-effective,

and very secure fashion.

As you can see, there are many fascinating uses of blockchain technology.

In order to make things more transparent, in order to make them more secure, and to

make sure that they don't fall under the political jurisdictions of certain countries that may

restrict their use.

Truly, blockchain technology is global, anonymous, and secure.

What about loudspeaker impedance? - Duration: 14:44.

My speakers are 4 ohms but my amp is 8 ohms, can I use this combination?

And what is ohms for heaven's sake?

Can I use two speakers per channel and why do they put ohms in it anyway?

Well, time to shine some light on those illusive ohms.

In this video I will try to explain the concept of loudspeaker impedance to people that do

not have a degree in electronics.

To do that I will cut corners and simplify things.

So to those that do have a degree in electronics, this is not for you.

OK, now that we are amongst normal people, let's look at the topic at hand.

Most loudspeakers have motors that use electro-magnetic force to move the cones: there is a coil that

is attached to the cone and mounted inside a magnet structure.

If you apply a voltage by connecting for instance a 9 volt battery, a current starts to flow

through the coil which generates a second magnetic field.

Depending on the polarity, this makes the cone move inwards or outwards.

When the voltage is disconnected, the cone returns to the middle position.

Now it is time for a very important law of physics, and I quote Albert Einstein: "Energy

cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another."

Now, the coil in the speaker motor works in such a way that it resists the current flow

to a certain degree.

This causes the magnetic field and heath.

The magnetic field is what we want, the heath is something we don't want but we have to

live with.

The battery we connected produces a direct current, the currently flows only in one direction

and the degree of resistance is called …. electrical resistance.

It is expressed in ohm.

Engineers use the omega sign for ohm.

But sound is caused by variations in air pressure and if a loudspeaker want to produce sound,

it needs to cause variations in air pressure by moving back and forth.

So the current though the voice coil needs to go back and forth too.

Technicians call this alternating current since the current alternates.

It changes from one direction to the other so to make the air move and cause differences

in air pressure.

Just as instruments do.

It's as simple as that.

Unfortunately the resistance of the coil is not the same at every speed of change.

The resistance might be lower at fast movements and higher at slow speeds or vice versa.

High speeds produce tones we hear as high pitch and slow speeds produce low pitched

notes.

OK, let me tell you another engineers secret: the speed of change is called frequency and

is expressed in vibrations per second or hertz.

Low tones give low hertz figures and high tones high figures.

The lowest tone we can hear is 20 hertz, the highest 20,000 hertz when we are young, say

around 15,000 hertz half way our life and perhaps as low as 10.000 hertz when rather

old.

Unless we turn deaf, but that's another story.

Now, why does the resistance change when the frequency changes?

Simply put it has to do with the slowness of things, including electrons.

That is perhaps best explained using the behaviour of a car.

If your car is stationary and you put your foot on the accelerator, the engine starts

applying force to the wheels and the car will start moving.

But it will take some time before it reaches the speed you want.

At the crossing you will apply the brakes but again it will take some time before the

car stops.

The mass of the car impedes acceleration and deceleration.

All kinds of properties of loudspeaker parts impede the current in a similar manner, meaning

that when the amp applies a voltage to the loudspeaker, it will take some time before

a current starts flowing that in turn starts the secondary magnetic field that causes the

cone to move.

The reverse applies too, if the voltage becomes zero, the cone doesn't stop right away.

The kinetic energy in the cone makes it move somewhat longer.

Electronically, similar behaviour is present that impedes the flow of electrons.

The degree in which the loudspeaker impedes the current is aptly called impedance and

again is expressed in ohm.

Why do they bother us with this impedance.

Can't they take care of it?

Well, no.

Loudspeaker technique might be one of the most complex technique of your stereo since

it involves electronics, mechanics and acoustics.

This means that all kinds of compromises have to be made, some of them involving the impedance.

The key for you is that the lower the impedance the higher the current.

And the higher the current, the more heath is generated in the amp.

That is why amplifier manufacturers specify 'the minimum load', the lowest impedance.

If the amp is able to work with 8 ohm speakers without getting too hot, the brochure, the

manual and the rear of the amp will state: for use with 8 ohm speakers.

Will the amp break down as soon as you connect 4 ohm speakers?

No, and if you don't play too loud, the amp will keep working.

Under normal domestic conditions the amp only has to provide little power, often around

a single watt.

But be aware: if you play at higher level, the amp might over-heath.

Many modern amps will simply shut down and work again when cooled down.

But some amps that lack such protection circuit, might simply fry their power transistors or

equal.

If your amp is specified to work with 4 ohm speakers, as most modern amps are nowadays,

you can of course use 4 ohm speakers.

But also 8 ohm speakers for the higher impedance will lead to a lower current and thus lower

power.

That is why amps have a lower power rating in 8 ohm speakers than in 4 ohm speakers.

Well that's clear then: use only 8 ohm speakers when your amp is specified for 8 ohm speakers.

If your amp is specified for 4 ohm, you can use 4 and 8 ohm speakers.

Or more correctly: any speaker with an impedance of 4 ohm or higher.

Nowadays manufacturers often specify a range: 4 to 8 ohms, for instance.

It is good practice to stick to that.

Is it all clear now?

OK, let's make it a bit more complicated: there are no 4 or 8 ohm speakers.

Yes, the spec's are absolutely legal, at least in most cases, for the standard is to

measure the impedance at 1kHz and if a lower impedance occurs at another frequency it should

not deviate more than 8% or the spec should be adjusted.

All fair and square.

But let's have a look at real world measurements and let's start by measuring an 8 ohm power

resistor I use for measuring amps and that does nothing more than convert power into

heath.

Hence the cooling profiles.

I use my automated measuring beast, the Audio Precision System 2 Cascade and it is set up

to apply a range of frequencies at a given voltage and measure the voltage drop over

the loudspeaker terminals and the voltage drop over a sensing resistor.

From this two measurements the computer calculates the impedance.

You can easily forget this if you don't get it or google loudspeaker impedance measurement

if you want to know more.

When you listen to this video over headphones or a large stereo, you can hear the measurement

tones start at 20 Hz.

From there it goes up to 30 kHz in 200 steps and after each measurement the next frequency

is generated, measured and plotted.

Whatever you do, don't increase the volume.

Measurement tones can cause damage when played too loud.

Here we go.

As you can see, the green line is nicely at 8 ohm, as indicated on the left scale, ignore

the m's behind the values.

Now it is time for a normal loudspeaker.

This speaker is specified at 8 ohms.

It takes the Audio Precision relatively long to do the measurements below 100 Hz.

This is because the impedance isn't too stable at low frequencies.

The Audio Precision does several measurements and is only satisfied when the outcome seems

reliable.

Again the green line is the impedance, the other line I'll explain later.

Here we go.

As you can see, the measurement at 20 Hz starts at 5.8 ohms to go to 15.5 ohms at 48 Hz.

Then goes down again to 6 ohms at 70Hz and even 22 ohms at approximately 120 Hz.

It even goes to 27 ohms at 2.5 kHz.

As you see, this 8 ohm speaker is anything but an 8 ohm speaker.

And most speakers are like this, some are a lot worse even.

Then there is the light blue line that indicates how much the current will lead or lag the

voltage.

Remember the car where you apply the horsepower before the car reaches the desired speed?

Here the horsepower is ahead of the speed.

And when braking the speed is ahead of the power.

The light blue line indicates the comparable phenomenon for speakers.

The scale is on the richt and in degrees.

At 20 Hz the phase angle is - 20 degrees, meaning the current is slightly ahead of the

voltage.

At 55 Hz the phase angle is +20 degrees so here the voltage is ahead of the current while

at about 150 Hz it is about +35 degrees.

And so on.

It might be clear that the best efficiency is achieved at zero phase angle.

If the phase is negative at a frequency where the impedance is very low, it causes big currents

provided the amp can deliver.

If not, the amplifier is no longer in control and that leads to poor performance or worse.

There is much more to say about loudspeaker impedances, but I won't The interaction

between the amp and the loudspeaker of course is very important.

If the loudspeakers behave nasty, you better find an amp that can deliver shiploads of

current.

But how do you know what current an amp can deliver?

Even professionals only know for sure if a combination of amplifier and speakers will

perform well when they have tried.

The information in this video is good to know for it gives more insight making you les prone

to false claims made by sellers or resellers.

But unless you know for sure a combination of amp and speakers works fine, like from

a friend who owns that combination, always try to listen to the set, using your own music.

Flush Toxins From Your Body With This Homemade Colon Cleanse Juice - Duration: 3:16.

Flush Toxins From Your Body With This Homemade Colon Cleanse Juice

Many people have chronic constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, leaky gut, and other problems

with the digestive system. Because the colon has the big job of getting rid of waste, it's

important to keep it running smoothly.

Thankfully, there are things you can do to help ease pain that comes with toxins and

digestion problems in the body.

A homemade colon cleanse can help flush out some of the toxins in your body that could

be adding to your pain, and can naturally soothe constipation. Just plan a day when

you do not need to leave your home so that you can get used to the colon cleansing changes

in your body and the cleaning of waste, as you start the detox process.

INGREDIENTS:

- ½ cup warm purified water - ½ tsp sea salt

- ½ cup organic apple juice - 1 tsp ginger juice

- 2 tbsp lemon juice

DIRECTIONS:

Let's get started making this great homemade cleanse. You will need a tall glass and a

spoon. To start, put 3.5 ounces of clean water in a pan. You want to warm the water, not

boil it, so that you can drink the water at a safe temperature.

Once it is warm, pour it into your glass. Then, add sea salt and mix it. The sea salt

will help let out toxins, pushing waste through the body and boosting digestion.

Now, add the apple juice, ginger juice, and fresh lemon juice, and mix it.

Where do you think the saying 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away' comes from?

Well, maybe it's not just for the colon, but it did come from the idea that whole foods,

such as the nutrition- rich apple, brings good health, and a healthy colon brings good

health.

In fact, a study shows that those who ate an apple a day had less visits to the doctor,

and less prescription medications.

Ginger is great because it lessens bloating while boosting the colon, keeping it free

from wastes and bad toxins. And don't forget about the amazing lemon! Lemon juice helps

digestion, detoxification, and is high in vitamin C, making it a great antioxidant.

Drink this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Then have this mixture again

just before a light lunch, like steamed vegetables and baked salmon, and again mid- afternoon.

Have 6- 8 glasses of warm water throughout the day. It may be best to slow down the amount

of liquids you drink after 5 p.m. so that you don't wake up in the middle of the night

to go to the bathroom.

Using this type of colon cleanse should not be a problem, however, it is always good to

check with your doctor before trying anything new, if you are pregnant, have a disease,

have allergies, or are taking any prescription medications.

Do not drink this juice if you are diabetic because of the high amount of natural sugar

in apple juice.

It's best to do this for one day, or a week at most.

Obama Just Went Behind Trump's Back Then Sends Creepy Handwritten Note – Here's What It Said. - Duration: 5:11.

Obama Just Went Behind Trump's Back Then Sends Creepy Handwritten Note – Here's

What It Said.

The Parkland Florida massacre is just over a month old, and it's still one of the top

stories in the news today.

This terrible event that took the lives of 14 students and three teachers left the nation

grief-stricken.

It also left us with a whole lot of ammunition for the left to use to try and shoot down

our Second Amendment rights.

Liberals from all over the country have come out of the woodwork to support stricter gun

laws, but this time, instead of leaning on the traditional emotional pleas, they're

pushing middle schoolers out front to do their dirty work.

While it's evident that the Parkland massacre was tragic, and we should do whatever we have

to to keep it from happening again, there's not just one answer.

You don't have to be either anti-gun or pro-child killing.

In fact, it's entirely possible that those who are willing to put guns in the hands of

more responsible people in schools are the ones who are eager to do the most to stand

up for the kids.

That's just one example of the things that can be done to stand up for the kids who were

so traumatized that day.

Never missing a chance to step into the spotlight, former President and avid anti-guns Barrack

Obama decided that what the kids of Parkland Florida needed was a note from him and the

former First Lady.

The Hill reports that he and Michelle Obama sent the note, telling the kids that they

will be there for them:

"Former President Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama sent a handwritten letter

to students at the Florida high school, where a mass shooting left 17 dead last month.

The Obamas thanked the survivors for speaking out against gun violence and helping to "awaken

the conscience of our nation."

The former president and first lady closed by telling the students, "We will be there

for you."

The letter, dated March 10, was obtained by Mic on Wednesday.

'We wanted to let you know how inspired we have been by the resilience, resolve and

solidarity that you have all shown in the wake of unspeakable tragedy,' the Obamas

wrote.

'Not only have you supported and comforted each other, but you've helped awaken the

conscience of the nation, and challenged decision-makers to make the safety of our children the country's

top priority.

'Throughout our history, young people like you have led the way in making America better.

There may be setbacks; you may sometimes feel like progress is too slow in coming.

But we have no doubt you are going to make an enormous difference in the days and years

to come, and we will be there for you.

The students of Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., have been the

primary organizers of the anti-gun violence March for Our Lives that is scheduled to hit

D.C. this Saturday.

More than 500,000 people are expected to attend.

This was not the first time the former president and first lady have praised the students who

survived the Feb. 14 massacre in their gun control efforts.

President Obama tweeted at the students the day after the shooting, writing, "We are

grieving with Parkland.

But we are not powerless.

Caring for our kids is our first job.

And until we can honestly say that we're doing enough to keep them safe from harm,

including long overdue, common-sense gun safety laws that most Americans want, then we have

to change."

As frustrating as it is for conservatives to see liberals attempting to push (thoroughly

ineffectual) policy over the graves of the recently departed children and their teachers,

the Obamas aren't the most disturbing part of the equation.

The Hill also reports that Hillary Clinton is looking to support the kids, her support

seems to be suspiciously attached to their interest in supporting stricter gun control:

"Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton also defended the Parkland,

Florida, survivors on Twitter on Wednesday, saying they have 'shown so much courage

in standing up for the truth' in the face of conspiracy theories that some of them are

in fact 'crisis actors.

Survivors of the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School have emerged

as strong advocates for gun control following the attack.

Some of them have traveled to Florida's state capitol to encourage lawmakers to take

up gun control reform, and many are also planning a march later this year in Washington, D.C.,

to demand action on gun violence.

The students also took center stage at a CNN town hall Wednesday, questioning lawmakers

on the future of gun control legislation and pushing them to refuse future donations from

the National Rifle Association."

Barack Obama pushed for stricter gun control laws during his administration, particularly

after the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, but struggled to get measures through

Congress."

Both sides of the aisle are pushing for something that they believe will make kids safer in

schools.

However, this week's school shooting in Maryland made far fewer headlines, because

a mature, trained adult with a handgun stepped in and put a stop to the shooting spree.

The results speak for themselves.

Operation IceBridge: What (and Who) it Takes to Keep a Mission Flying - Duration: 2:51.

Operation IceBridge: What (and who) it takes to keep a mission flying

In 2016, Operation IceBridge was joined by Dr. Piers Sellers,

a NASA earth scientist, astronaut, and manager,

who came north to connect with the mission and its partners in the high Arctic.

As we return in 2018, we remain grateful to the late Dr. Sellers,

the NOAA crew who provided us a safe and successful field season,

and the men and women of the U.S. Air Force in Thule who maintain

an invaluable base of operations for our science missions

NASA's Operation IceBridge operates out of one of the world's harshest climates

Northwest Greenland (750 miles north of the Arctic Circle)

So here we are at Thule Air Base, and this was put here originally in the fifties

as a Cold War, you know, forward outpost - bombers and all that stuff

And since then, it's come back to being a scientific base, for us anyway, for NASA at least

and a few other military applications as well.

The United States works closesly with its Danish counterparts to support missions like Operation IceBridge

It's a huge collaborative effort. We do very little without the work with each other.

Because we have an airfield and we have a port and we have a lot of facilities here

We have a lot of infrastucture and it's fairly unique this far north

anywhere in the world, and so as a result of that, we allow

NASA, the National Science Foundation, as well as reserachers from around the world

get access to the high Arctic.

The United States Air Force provides critial support to NASA's efforts in the Arctic.

So on the aircraft operations side, having a hangar is really important

and the Air Force has been able to provide us with that hangar space

It's important for both the aircraft, that it stays warm

and doesn't have to start up from a cold state

and also for the scientific instraments - we don't want them to get cold

to possible cause any damage to them.

We love the different missions that come through here

be it the NASA missions or a lot of the National Science Foundation missions

When IceBridge comes up here probably one of the biggest things that I do

is we make sure you guys get the fuel you need for the aircraft

and then any kind of passenger or cargo movement that you guys need to

send up here to conduct your operations.

For air traffic control, there's significant, some challenges, some new experiences

we get when we get different type of aircraft outside of our typical C-17, C-130 military aircraft.

The simiple part of it is pretty much making sure the targets on our scope don't touch

We seperate you guys, we have quite a few rules that we have to abide by

Once you get into the habit of it, it gets fairly simple

My job here is to keep the NASA mission going, keep you guys safe

by providing air traffic control services

We're here to be flexible with you all and help you complete your mission.

Thule Air Base continues to be an instramental partner in NASA's ongoing work studying our changing planet
