welcome to this episode of Deliverance ministry.FM where we give you proven
insights about the demonic realm and deliverance ministry so you can wage
spiritual warfare more effectively this is Dr. Don Ibbitson of Above & Beyond and
I'm here with my colleague and co-host Dr. Phyllis Tarbox and welcome. It's
good to have you back for another session to be here again and today
we're going to talk about sexual sin we're gonna look at it from the
perspective of an open door for demonic torment he's these podcasts we're doing
about spiritual warfare and that the plans of the enemy to come against us in
now we're gonna talk about how sexual sin though we have can be at one of the
open doors for demonic torment now we've been doing other podcasts talking about
different aspects of deliverance ministry basics of deliverance ministry
when you looked at ungodly soul ties and spiritual warfare and whatnot and we
touched about the fact that there are various open doors and certainly one
encourage you to to listen to some of those podcasting to get additional
background but but part of it is important to summarize that the demonic
spirits can oppress Christians from the inside of us in our soul disrobe and
deliverance is the driving out of demons and there's also a pression that happens
from the outside where these and that's where we have the concept of the
battlefield of the mind where spirits can put thoughts in our mind and we need
to resist those but in the realm of open doors for for demonic torment there's a
bunch of them you know as I said we touched on generational curses word
curses occultic sin things done to us abuse traumas unforgiveness and whatnot
but we want to look at today one of the open doors and explored in a little more
depth and that's sexual sin so we're gonna start on that in a moment but
before we do I just want to encourage you to stay tuned to the very end

so let's begin by starting kind of at a very basic level and Phyllis if you
would just tell us you know the definition that we use or what comprises
a person's soul and then leading into that what exactly is a soul type well
Don our soul is made up of our mind our will and our emotions and so there's a
lot there and that encompasses that they can can be an open door for the enemy to
use so that's that's what our soulish room pretty much exists of now assault I
can be a bonding that's you know we've talked about this like you said in our
other podcast it can be a bonding that's based on love and respect like we
mentioned David and and and and Jonathan they had a good godly bonding based on
love their hearts were knitted together and people can have good godly bondings
with mother's father's sister's brothers and family members but there can also be
an ungodly bonding and that's where we want to focus on that open door and that
ungodly bonding can be based on sexual sin which is you know sex outside of a
covenant of marriage or it can be based on control and influence and today we're
gonna focus primarily on the sexual sin portion but there's a there is a there's
a bonding of the soul together you know in the Bible it doesn't say necessarily
soul high it calls it an ungodly bonding of the flesh right and so that's what we
want to look at as an open door today okay I think you know we talked about
this body soul and spirit model that we've used about before and it's
important to understand that when we get born again we get a new spirit but we
don't get a new soul our soul were to be read transform right and by renewing our
mind and different things but the demonic realm can can be occupy in our
soul distraught and that's that's important so that's what we're gonna see
is how and why this tourmate could be in our in our solar cell manned so we
talked about soul ties down a little bit there and but now let's get right down
to brass tacks in there's different views in this in the world probably even
in the church obviously today but but how do what do we consider sexual sin
what is the definition if you like that we use most
and above and beyond I would think it would be some type of sexual activity
that would be outside of a sanctified covenant of marriage would you agree I
would I you know we we think basically the Bible it's it's sexual activities
between a man and a woman in the bounds of marriage and anything outside of that
and even including premarital relations that does constitute does constitute
sexual sins so it's everything else is sin and and you know sin basically this
course is breaking the laws of God and and we get asked all the time well it's
such and such sin is this sin hey kiss have you know what and a lot of these
things you've taught you know some of the things are is not explicit
scriptures on and Christians and pastors and therapists could visit to disagree
so we're not gonna get into too much well what constitutes sexual sin what
sort of activities and what I don't encourage people to do you see well
asked you know apart from what we've already talked about people ask the Lord
to reveal it to you is that was that was that sexual sin and so you know it's
it's what do you think that's I think that's like I think that's a good
example and I think it's a good that you brought up that point about the fact
that even premarital sex because a lot of people think that once they get that
ring on their finger or they're intended and they know they're gonna get married
that that's already sanctified even before they get married and that that
that's a big open door for torment because you know it's not been
sanctified before god it's not a marriage contract yet and that surprises
a lot of people done well it does they think it's okay to do that and and as
you're sitting here Phyllis I'm recalling an account I heard and I can't
remember all the specifics I want to I believe us from Peter Horeb and of ll
ministries a very respected man of God and have wonderful ministries there I
believe he tells a story and one of his times were they ministered to somebody
who a woman who had some demonic torment in her life and they discerned the root
of it was because of premarital sexual relations that she had between her and
her husband they ended up marrying each other they were virgins they married
they were they were getting married they had sexual activity and that sexual
activity prior to marriage was an open door for demonic night and so that that
sort of thing does does happen and and so you know it's it is an open door and
that's why we're discussing and I think it's good because I do get
that surprised look on the faces of a lot of clients that come in when you
talk about premarital sex but why shouldn't account because I'm marrying
him it should be okay but that a good point I'm glad you brought that up well
exactly and is it about illegal right see it is sexual salmon the demonic
kingdom knows the Word of God yeah they know what it says and when there are
legal rights or open doors for demonic torment for these devils to torment this
and that's one of them and as we've touched on even getting born-again
getting saved repenting asking God to forgive us and receiving doesn't
necessarily mean let these spirits that came upon us automatically leave them
and have to leave so all right well let's advance from this a little bit
this concept of soul ties ungodly soul tie how does that relate to sexual sin
what's the what can we what is the what is what do we have in the Bible it talks
about well the de pere phrase I think the first Corinthians 6:16 is the one
that's the most clear and you know just to paraphrase it it's basically Paul
speaking and he's saying you know you don't want to sleep with the harlot or a
prostitute you don't want to sleep with someone outside of a covenant of
marriage because you are the temple of the Holy Spirit and you don't want to
defile your flesh and he says that because you don't want to let these
things come into your temple because there is a bonding of the flesh where he
says to become one and you know we can see that in the natural it also has
spiritual implications so in this particular scripture he's saying that
flesh is your body and we know that when to become one in the natural there is a
bonding to become one now he also refers in Romans seven and eight to flash is
something different but he says I what is it he says I keep doing the things I
don't want to do but I do them anyway I'm in this constant battle with my
flesh so in those scriptures he's referring to flesh as his as the soulish
realm so as a bonding of the flesh then we're talking about a bonding of the
body and a bonding of the soul and so I think that you know everything in in the
spirit realm and in God's word the enemy loves to twist and pervert so you'll
hear stings like he's my soul mate and that sort of thing and but there's
an element of truth to that because there is a bonding of the body and the
soul together and we know that the spirits you know if that is an open door
of sexual sin and you're allowing that door to be open then the spirits are
bound that in or in one person's soul can actually go into another person's
soul because of that - becoming one in the flesh and so I think the natural
picture of that would be like if you know if you slept with somebody who had
an STD right then there's a good chance you could get that disease in the
natural right well in the spirit realm when you sleep with someone who has
demonic torment in their soul and your soul and flesh and body become one then
there's a really good chance that some of those spirits now can come into you
it's like an open door of transference and so I think that's how the spirit
realm operates - you know multiply its effect so to speak because that sexual
sin door you know we were always taught like when we were younger you know if
you sleep with that boy then you're you're also sleeping with the girl he
slept with and that bad girl you know knowing well spiritually this bondage is
the same thing there's a multiplication effect it's not good well it isn't that
have example you use you people understand it in the natural is
something like that or billboards out there that if you sleep with somebody
like that you slept it's like sleeping with everybody else they with them and
people understand that in the physical realm but in the natural or in the
spirit realm that it's even more magnified because as you say you can
really pick up you know that the spirits can transfer so you can be picking up
spirits from other people and I think it's important really for for if you're
listening to this podcast you got a Bible handy take a look at that
scripture first Corinthians 6:16 Paul talks about uniting in the body so that
speaks of the body's being physically joined but he says they become one flesh
right and and that's and you know we're gonna get into this now but you can look
at it in the context of marriage scriptures a husband wives become one
flesh they're joined also and that's a godly bonding but so that's such a
powerful picture that we aren't that because the devil's read the book to the
one we have this sexual sin the bodies are joined the souls are joined and
basically the spirits can transfer from one person to another they can like
flow into one person from another like I say we see it in with aroma diseases but
it also happens in the realm of demonic torment so you know we flew so that's
that's important and I know some people always tell you this in your eyes are
probably getting yeah this is listening to this and of course and I'll stay
tuned there's good news for all of this you know every sin everything there's
provision for at the cross and appropriating the victory but it is
important to understand that this is a huge a very big open door for demonic
torment this Rama sexual sin and the spirits residing in the soul and of
course I mean we need to get delivered from these and we've done we've touched
upon the fact that you know with just repenting receiving forgiveness for the
stand sexual sin it doesn't necessarily mean that demonic spirits have to leave
you know that that's worth it step one or two not the final final freedom right
I think so you know we need to we need deliverance from those spirits they can
really can still be there and the whole realm of deliverance issues but I mean
we talked about this in general terms Phyllis and we've done a lot of ministry
and helping people over the years we can you share some instances where you know
we know of people who have had issues in their life that though many times you
can look and say these things started after you know a sexual activity or
sexual sin with somebody yeah I actually had you know one young man say I was
happy and I was go lucky and I lived a very joyful life but then in college I
slept with a girl who had been date-raped and had bipolar manic
depression and it was like ever since that day I've been depressed morbidly
and I've watched my life go down into that Saint and he and he said it's like
I caught it and you can't catch depression but in the spirit realm there
was that transference I'm sure because it was an outside of a you know marriage
consecration also a woman that came in and this was part of her history was
that she said she felt like she had a soulmate with one of her partners that
she had had an affair with outside of her outside of her marriage and she just
always felt like he was her soul mate the one
and based on that open door there was a lot of suicide and depression that came
in with that and then she tried to commit suicide and so I felt she her
were in her words she felt like she was addicted to him so you know with women I
think we have to be very careful because we're made to be intimate and and that
love it love means a lot to us and you know when you when that happens outside
of a coming in a marriage and the enemy starts to say you know you're never
gonna find anyone better then you know a lot of that stuff started to come in to
her because of that relationship it left her open for that and also good so when
somebody says well this is my soul mate how do you feel when you hear that term
somebody will say that many times he is my soul mate award is my earth she is my
soul mate I mean when you hear those words what is that what is that
counselor it makes me a little nervous to be quite frank
you know if especially if it's somebody in their past that they're holding on to
if it's someone that they're in a good relationship with like a husband or
something like that now then that's you know there's probably a good godly
bonding based on love there but if it's from the past and it's something that's
tormenting them like they feel like they've missed out on something then you
know then I think then that that can be quite a large open door on you we were
asking for examples so I think one of the ones I've mentioned before but it's
powerful is is the woman that I ministered to in hospice who had us who
had gotten Parkinson's disease and that Parkinson's disease when I asked her how
she caught it which you know when she asked she looked at me and said why
would you phrase it you would not be in the room with me right now if you could
catch the Parkinson's and I did it on purpose cuz I wanted to hear her story
and the Lord had already told me there was probably a good one
she said my husband died and when he died I got it and I didn't have a
surprised look on my face and she was pretty surprised about that Don she
looked at me and said how come you're not looking like everybody else looked
when I told him that story and I said well because I have more questions and
so then I asked her did you sleep with your husband before you married him and
she said yeah I slept with him for 11 years it didn't everybody back then and
I said well I'm not judging you I'm just asking a question because then I went
through the purpose of explaining to her and how
solt i could have happened in that spirit had every legal right to use her
body didn't need it while he was alive but once he died then it transferred
over to her to torment her with the same disease so that was a big one that we
were able to break that and she actually came back and health quite a bit after
we broke that soul tie and of course led her to the Lord
I've also actually had men come into the office that have literally slept with
prostitutes now you know I would imagine that a prostitute is pretty loaded with
demons you know it's on the number of people
that and this man was a powerful man in in his day I mean he was a very powerful
businessman who had when he came in he was reduced to this cowering thing that
sat in my corner of my office just shaking in fear I mean he had so much
fear on him because he had slept with his prostitute and it just really
overwhelmed him and it was very quick it didn't take a lot of days it was like
that night that he really felt that and so you know you can see that and and I
think that one of the interesting things is as we were talking about this a few
years ago and I've mentioned it before but for the purposes of the podcast I
think it's worthy to bring up again there was a history show channel
television show that they did on Haight Ashbury and you know of course Joe
Francisco that's too young for us Don because you were too young that you
really remember that sort of thing but Haight Ashbury of course was in 1967 and
it was billed as what the Summer of Love and during the Vietnam War area so that
was the make love not war kind of banner that was going on and everywhere and if
you're looking at things from a spiritual perspective how is the enemy
gonna take love and twist it so he can use it I mean that's God's greatest gift
right is absolutely I'm walking that fruit of love so I'm sure he got his
handle on it factor in that time and then this particular television show was
from the police department's perspective and they said that that summer in
haight-ashbury it still is on record today has the largest number of rapes
overdoses murders and violence on on the charts as
opposed to any other year and the police officer said it was like somebody opened
up Pandora's box that year and all hell let loose well that was the year well
really sexual revolution not that it wasn't here earlier but it really swept
the country this is exploded next it became an okay thing because its heck
it's love we're not doing anything wrong so it's got to be good and I think
that's where you watched a lot of the multiplication in the spirit realm come
in because if the enemy wanted to shift a nation or people group quickly with
multiplied demonic torment through an open door of sexual sin it would be to
make it acceptable and get everybody to do it because you know that's what you
hear from most people that come in today but this is what everybody does and how
how will we know if we're compatible to live together unless we have sex first
and we don't live you know and so that whole deception is really ingrained in
our culture it is it's gotten it's different than it was back in the 60s
being right in terms of but the concept is still the same that's okay to have
these kind of relationships and people miss out on the fact that don't
understand this how it opens the door from the for demonic torment and picking
up spirits from other people I want to come back to something you mentioned
about the dealing with prostitutes I mean we ministered the prostitutes or
people coming out who have been in prostitution yeah many times they are
tormented and then they're full of spirits and so when they were you know
having the relationships with somebody they can pick up and certainly pass
those spirits to other people and I remember in encounter as well with a man
who is who who is you know I came in and had issues in his life but he could
trace him he knew when things started in his life on a business trip and he was
over in Amsterdam and an encounter with a prostitute over there and from that
point on he knew that things had gone bad issue started to manifest in his
life and he could trace it back from that to that so he picked up you know
apart from any kind of fear and shame or anything else was there that encountered
believe was very likely an open door for demonic spirits to enter in issues in
his life that weren't there before and now they were there so what about what
about this as long as we're on that subject what about a lot of the
men or the military men who in their past they slept with you know like a lot
of prostitution or the country yes and even even husbands now that slut or
women that's slept with people before they got married then when you know they
have sex before marriage then you can actually are taking on a lot of those
demons so that offs all that stuff needs to get cleared up in the spirit realm
for people absolutely all right well we got all the bad news out there yes you
know a part for forgiveness and not a part I don't to minimize that man can
receive forgiveness for the sin all of the sins sexual sin is no different
mm-hmm you see for every sin but how do we deal how does a person deal with this
idea of breaking if you like these ungodly soul ties well it's easy you
know I think that God gave us the blood of Jesus Christ in order to be able to
appropriate and use it and so there's a simple way of declaring that you I break
and sever every ungodly soul tie with and you speak this out loud and you
cancel out with those people from your past and you declare them speak their
name out and you cancel the assignment of that ungodly soul tie why do you need
to do it out loud well because the demonic realm you know
the in Ephesians I think it's chapter 2 it talks about how Satan is the Prince
of the airwaves and so he can't he's not like the Holy Spirit he can't hear your
silent prayers if you're gonna declare something broken in his world then you
need to speak it into his world because demons cannot cannot read our mind rats
people we teach that and believe that that demons can't read our mind but now
you're what we say yes and they and they see what we do there's only I need to
hear yes yes yes so and breaking breaking those ungodly soul ties and
then determined to keep them broken you know not to reestablish them and then of
course the spirits that have come in with those soul ties meet those those
people need to go through deliverance to have those things called out so you can
break the soul tie and sever that take away the legal right make away the legal
right but then you need to get deliverance from the spirits that came
in and then sometimes but I mean we've seen it work sometimes people just doing
a declaration whether it's forgiveness for breaking soul ties they do get
delivered yeah there yeah it does it does that doesn't God
sovereignly delivers people but I think the point it's important to emphasize
that one of the science to follow believers says in mark 16:17
mark 16 verse 17 he talks about one of the signs is to driving out of demons
and we are to drive demons on one to another it is part of my industry so but
that that declaration and you know kin you know break the ungodly soul tie know
that person is it really that simple I think he made it simple he said he made
it simple right I just think the problem is that none of us really understood
this I personally if I would have been taught this before I launched into the
world I think I could have saved myself a great deal of torment because
personally you know I waited for a long time and not to be too transparent here
but as soon as that door opened boy I tell you what I had a good 20 years of
sickness you know until I really understood this and that's why you know
I'm here with you today is because I had a lot of right to singer that this
didn't get taught in the church to a lot of us when it could have helped us when
we were younger so those people that are hearing this now if you haven't opened
that door don't open it don't open it if you have open it there's a way to get it
yeah if you know you talk about you know righteous anger I mean Hosea 4:6 is
God's people perish for lack of rain this is one of those areas in fact so
much in the realm of deliverance ministry there's a lot more confusion
and misinformation or lack of information and some and people really
need to have that so we need to break the sole ties and then you know how do
you keep from re-establishing ungodly sexual sin soul ties what do we what do
people need to do really need to stay pure if you're not married and if you
are just keep your relationships with inside your covenant marriage right no
wandering it is and that's the key is breaking them keeping them broken in and
just want to touch on something here we're not going to talk about it in this
podcast but people understand that that in the realm we're talking about sexual
sin where people willingly enter into activities but there's a realm of
molestation or sexual abuse there's rapes those involve the similar types of
ungodly soul ties with Pete yeah but it's not consensual obviously but
unfortunately to say well touch we touched on this and
some other podcast we'll touch on in the future these type of things
are open doors for demonic torment even though this sexual activity was done to
you you were willing an active participant and people say well that's
not fair well you know there's a lot of things in the spirit room that don't
seem to be fair yeah Devils come to kill steal and destroy and so the good news
is that you know that there is provision for healing and deliverance of victory
from all these things but I think it's important it is important because the
people that are listening that have had to endure that sort of thing Don they
know they've probably had some torment come into their life because of that and
maybe they haven't been able to get the victory over it and this would answer a
lot of that for them well it is because of the soul tie right yeah there is that
distinction though because a lot of people have these things done to them
unwillingly yes but a lot of things you know sexual activity people enter into
it willingly if you like and and out of ignorance open the doors for these
demonic torment so that's that's really what we're we're talking about there so
sexual sin is an open door for demonic torment and by that we mean for spirits
to enter into us because of these nature of the bondage that happens we can pick
up these spirits from other people and there's a way to be gallows broken and
then provision for deliverance from those so as we've talked about this once
the you know one of the one or two key things or points that you'd like to
emphasize for people to really take away from this Phyllis well I like to always
say this that our past does not own us you know we are not bound to it we don't
have to carry it with us everywhere we go it is not meant you know it's not
going to destroy us I hear a lot of people say that I'm broken and I'm never
gonna be the same that's too late for me and that's you know a lie of the enemy
basically God provided a way out and for every woe he provided a deliverer so you
know that he's not what trying to keep us in bondage he has answers for us that
provide freedom and victory and it's never too late and it doesn't really
matter because we can put it underneath the blood of Jesus Christ and it will be
done and handled and there's there's you know God has got his faithful with that
he wants his children free okay that's important there is hope there and
I think the point that I'd like to emphasize
is that as Christians we shouldn't really get a grip on understanding what
is the real world people tend to see the natural world we live in the physical
world but as believers I think we should really get gasp a hole of a fact that
that the spirit realm is the real world in fact many times what happens it plays
out in the natural world is a reflection reaction of what's already out exactly
in the spirit realm and in this whole realm of sexual sin like I say this well
the world understands diseases STDs whether you're a Christian and a atheist
Muslim it doesn't matter we understand understand the concept of sexually
transmitted diseases but I think if we understand a concept of ungodly soul
ties and picking up spirits from people and in many cases as bad as STDs are and
these Devils and kin manifestations of other kinds of torment and a person's
life as well apart from just the STDs and so understand that the gravity of it
but once again to piggyback off of what you said that there is hope there there
is victory through them through what Jesus did on the cross right all right
